After losing most of our data due to a server failure, we have been looking for a reliable IT company in Sherwood Park to upgrade our IT infrastructure and was referred to Planetcom via one of our clients. Carl and the team at PlanetCom are phenomenal. A year ago we were looking for Chromebooks to replace tablets for our kids. PlanetCom found the perfect solution. The Chromebooks have been working great and are essential for the current home learning requirements. I can't recommend PlanetCom and their superior customer service enough.
Looked them up after I saw them in Edmonton Journal reader's choice award for best computer service category. My laptop was in awful condition after it got infected with some weird virus (Cryptolocker or something?), so I took it to a local Edmonton shop first and they messed everything up and made it even worse. After sorting out all the fuss, I figured I'd try these Planetcom guys out. Within 2 days I took it there, they fixed everything up inside and out! They even cleaned up all the gunk inside the laptop. (The other shop didn't even bother opening it up) I was more than pleased when I realized they went above and beyond what I originally asked them to do which was just a software issue. The shop tech I talked to was very courteous and professional and I could really tell he knew what he was doing. I was so impressed, I am considering to have these guys service my work computer as well.
I recently had been referred to PlanetCom I.T. for my computer issues, running extremely slow and not charging properly. I had to get my computer cleaned. I was told to expect a good full day for the job. They called me three hours after I dropped it off to let me know it was done! The service has been super friendly every time I've gone in too.
The power button on my wife's laptop would not power it on. It turns out that the power button needed replacing. The PlanetCom tech remotely got my computer to run MS Flight Simulator 2020 on Steam and recognize my Saitek yoke in a surprisingly short time.
I worked for days and basically failed, not a real surprise as all my Google searches yielded dozens of people around the world with similar problems and no solution. It was not so much FS 2020, as it was getting the Saitek yoke to be recognized. For others, the yoke was either recognized or not - there was no middle ground.
The solution was not just one fix - the chipset was out of date, the video card BIOS needed to be flashed; there was even an old Lava card that runs a IBM printer that got a new driver. The SSD hard drives received attention, and something related to the Intel processor was tuned up.
Not only does the computer now run multiple screens using the newer Display Port connectors rather than DVI, overall, it just runs better - book keeping is smoother, emails are faster, searches quicker and it goes on.
None of this is a real surprise as this sort of performance on the part of the PlanetCom people has been a norm over the years. I am fortunate that they still will work with the little guy as their primary tasking is local and big businesses.
