My wife and I found PSI while on our Honeymoon two years ago. We have been back every time we go to Cape May since because the experience, the food and the atmosphere are top notch. We just celebrated our 2nd anniversary there on Sunday night, and were particularly impressed with the scallops and the tenderloin. Best we've every tried!!! Cannot recommend highly enough!!! Thanks, PSI!!!

We ate at Peter Shields Inn Restaurant on the last night of our mini-honeymoon and it blew us away! The food was absolutely incredible (seared Hudson Valley foie gras, steak tartare, lobster pasta, wagyu steak - the list goes on!) and our server Chris was so knowledgeable and welcoming. Easily comparable to the best NYC steakhouses. We recommended this restaurant to all of our friends and family who will be in the area.

I'm a tough rater for restaurants but this Peter Shields is one of the finest dining experiences I've had in quite some time. NY strip was the best I've ever had. Better than Lugers, Homestead, Wolfgangs. I'm not kidding. The aging process, Pittsburg Medium perfect! Service & Ambiance superior! BYOB

Food is very consistently very good, with a high level of execution and a medium to low level of creativity. Service can range from good to poor with some servers acting rude, nonchalant, and lacking details. For example, poorly pouring wine so that the table cloth was half pink by the end of service. Walking away while we completed an order. Napkins not folded upon leaving the table for the bathroom. Details yes, but in this type of establishment they should be the norm. Recommend more server trainings.

Absolutely great meal in a great setting. Server was the best, very professional. Hostess was pleasant and gave us details about the Inn even though we were among the last to leave after a long day. All four meals were prepared perfectly and each dessert was unique.

We dined here on 6/26/19. Service was excellent. The food was good but not on the level I would have expected with their reputation. We ordered the tuna tartare first course which was good, the diced mango complimented the tuna well but took over the dish a bit too much. We also ordered the potato gnocci and orecchicette for the second course which were both delicious. Our entree's included the long island duck breast and the snake river waygu. Both were good just not on that higher level of taste I would expect. The atmosphere here is great for a quiet relaxing romantic evening. We were able to relax outside on the deck with a view of the ocean.

Great food and atmosphere. The food is delicious here. My wife and I have been here before, and we decided to come back for our 3rd anniversary dinner. We both had the duck, and absolutely loved it. Our server was great as well. We'll be back during our next visit to Cape May.

Made reservation a week earlier and could only get a 5.30 pm reservation. Kept calling for a later time and was told they were completely booked until 9pm. When I arrived the porch was only 25% occupied with many empty tables the same when I left. Complained to management.

A really phenomenal beach front restaurant in Cape May! I have been coming here for years and years and have always had a wonderful experience. The food is absolutely top notch. The service is friendly and exceptional! You should try the Peter Shields in at least once during your Cape May stay.

A friend recommended this place so we decided to come here during our short trip to Cape May. We were advised to make reservations so we did, though with it being a weeknight it wasn't necessary. The service was excellent, and our toddler liked the staff, too. Environment is classy, relaxed, and with a relaxed upscale decor without all the bling or the unnecessary ritzy feel. It's laid back and an excellent place for a romantic dinner, celebration, or engagement meal. We had a nice view of the sunset as we awaited our courses, which were all very nicely cooked, presented, and most importantly tasted fantastic. We were surprised and impressed with how reasonable the prices were for this type of restaurant. Very happy we came here and would return if we visit the area again if we decided not to try something new in the area.

Look no further!!! We have been staying at the Peter Shields Inn the first week of August for the past five or six years and keep coming back year after year, now stretching our stay to 11 days. Danielle and staff, Sherry and Taylor are fabulous, their welcoming, warmth and service exceptional, always a wonderful and relaxing stay! There is no other inn or hotel we would consider when staying in Cape May. Looking forward to many more stays at PSI. Thanks again to Danielle and the outstanding staff!!!

Inn is lovely and food is very good. Views of the water are great. We had to enter through the basement as there was a wedding reception going on That was fine but no one was there so we walked upstairs. We were not treated very nice since we were upstairs. Overall a wonderful place to stay.

Pricey but delicious food. We all had seafood and it was fresh and well prepared. Service was OK, but not at the level I would expect for the reputation and price of the restaurant. Seating was uncomfortable on cushioned chairs into which we sank until we we're supported by the hard frames. We cut our stay short, not lingering for dessert and conversation. I am not compelled to return and would seek an alternative restaurant.

A Lovely place to have dinner. Located on Beach Ave. with a great outdoor porch facing the beach. Food is excellent, service very good, and wonderful atmosphere inside and out. It is a BYOB. It is a little pricey. The average plate about $30-$38, appetizers, about $12-$18. Wonderful for a special occasion.

BAD!!! We arrived at 2PM in hopes of takinga quiet nap in Cape May before attending wedding down the road. Turns out the whole first floor is host to a wedding here. I mean the check in desk is literally the DJ booth. I put my bags down next to wedding parties table by the front door. Wedding parties don't fit in here (literally) Thats all okay but the music and DJ are so loud its almost comical. As we sit in bed I feel like Im in the same room. Can't sleep through this. My advice to the owner, if you host a wedding you should at least fill the rooms with guests of the wedding. Its NOT appropriate to literally mix the public in with the wedding. I mean the dance floor is at the bottom of the only public stairs. Max

Our anniversary meal was spot on for service, good, and ambiance. This was a relaxed, memorable meal! Salad charcuterie, 2 fish entrees (salmon and rainbow trout - both excellent!), and creme brulee created one of my favorite meals ever for a reasonable price. We will be back.

Spent our 1 year anniversary at Peter Shields and it was absolutely amazing! The steak was easily Top 3 all-time, my wife had the scallops and says they were the best she's ever had. Service was what you would expect for Michelin rated restaurant. BYOB should be allowed at all restaurants. It may seem pricey up front but I've been to less fancy restaurants with a much bigger bill, all is to say this is by far worth every penny. Can't wait to go back!

My husband and I had Thanksgiving dinner, a price fixed menu. The food was delicious and the server was courteous and friendly. After our meal and while ordering dessert, we also ordered cups of coffee. We were somewhat surprised when receiving our bill we were also charged for the coffee. The price of our meal was not inepensive and we both felt we were nickeled and dimed for the coffee when it would not have hurt to include it with the meal. Even though money wise it was not a big expense, we are not sure that we would return again.
