Absolutely beautiful location set amongst the dense fauna surrounding Cradle Mountain. The staff we're really helpful and the lodge itself was a greay place to relax after a day out. Really impressed with the breakfast included with our room too - great quality food and a huge range for all tastes.

Beautiful location, that's about all it has going for it.

Why people are rating this accommodation so highly is beyond me as it is not cheap and certainly not worth the price. Rooms are cheaply done, and the service was poor (with the exception of one staff member). The credit card surcharge on top of the room price is a joke and unnecessary in today's world.

The Contemporary Spa Cabin is the middle of the range room and is meant to be newly refurbished, the mattress was hard and again cheap. The floor creaked wherever you walked and the rain shower head was no more than a standard shower. The jetted tub was small for one person and in a room with no TV and the idea being isolation and connection was kinda hard to achieve when one person hardly fits. There were no robes in the room and the fridge and phone wouldn't work, to top it off the bathroom was dirty.

Paying for quality is not a problem I have, paying for substandard parading as high end is just upsetting and disappointing.

My suggestion is book elsewhere on Cradle Mountain and just pop into the lodge for the Waldheim Alpine Spa, definitely worth a look.

Loved the room, very luxurious with a lovely view. The fireplace was fantastic. Lots of walking and hiking trails around, beautiful scenery of mountains and lakes. Freezing cold though. Tavern and restaurant were both expensive but to be expected considering the remote location.

Located just outside the Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair NP, you can't get a better location than Peppers. The gift shop onsite was great, lots of handmade gifts made by local artists. We had breakfast at Highlanders, it was fantastic.

The Bistro was great for a quick bite and drink.

The cabin was spacious, warm and comfortable. We will definitely be back with family.

Didnt stop at the lodge, but heard from others that the lodge was a little run down and expensive. But not 100% sure make up your own mind. We just stopped at the shop and the cascades near the entry.

Really quite a nice little lodge. The rooms we had were great and LOTS of wildlife to see, especially around Dawn and Dusk. Staff were helpful and friendly. The location is great as there are loads of activities for nature lovers closer by.

Wish I hadn't have booked this. This is the McDonalds equivalent of a wilderness retreat. The alarm bells go off when items on the menu are described as "genuine Australian" followed by a nice stale beer and burgers featuring the best frozen patties money can buy (at $25 each!) deluxe spa rooms are what you would expect at a budget motor inn for around $500 per night. All this could be redeemed with good service but sadly that's not there either. After mentioning at time of booking this was our honeymoon not only was there no complementary sparkling but not even a smile and a "congratulations" at the desk. Don't waste your time or money staying here.. they are clearly just looking to cash in on international tourists and people who don't know any better and believe the great marketing on their website.

I'm glad the room's Jacuzzi
Music and service wines and cheeses flowing in the room were nice too I didn't have one night
Wi-Fi is only around Tavern
Oh, there is no TV
If you feel like waiting for a meal
The waterfall which is about 10 minutes is good except
Wallabies and wombats will also come by the room

Wow. This place was everything we expected and more. The basic rooms were really well furnished, the food at the restaurant was excellent and the location was close to unbeatable. The "Enchanted Walk" adjacent to the lodge is like a little slice of nirvana.

We had lovely food and the finest coffee I ve drink in two weeks of being in Tassie! The Young Thai barmaid was very skilful, personably welcoming and efficient! Despite the location, and what the park ranger guide told me, I found the food reasonably priced and lovely quality, I had the daily curry and wifey had the pasta! Nice glass of Merlot too! But I wish I d had that takeaway coffee for the road!! Eat here!!

The cabin that we stayed in was wonderful. The food that we had in the restaurant at both breakfast and dinner was fine as well. It was wonderful being able to view the native wildlife right outside your cabin. Wombats and wallabies were plentiful on the grounds. We loved Cradle Mountain National Park and would have loved to have stayed there longer.

Great location, nice 'lodge' rooms and actually the Highland restaurant we found to be charming, good quality and decent value. It's the perfect base to experience Cradle Mountain, with easy access to walks, info, shuttle bus etc. The only down side is the price of rooms - simply put it is not a $400+ per night accommodation. If I were paying <$300 a night it would be 5 stars for me.

After a splendid walk at Dove Lake Cradle Mountain, we stopped at the lodge for a late lunch early tea. Reasonably priced we all had burgers and hot chips. Beautiful setting with as we sat outdoors on the balcony overlooking the amazing surrounds. From the lodge there are a number of short walks you can do including a waterfall.

Beautiful place for a getaway from your busy days. Spacey and beautiful lodges, with in-room fireplace to keep you warm during winter time. Staffs are friendly and helpful to make your stay more enjoyable.

We had a spa cabin. Heating was on and fire going when we checked in. Everything you could think of in the room and even a small kitchenette. Lots of space in the room and very private balcony. Modern clean bathroom. Loads of wood for the fire. Main lodges bars and restaurants wonderful. Good food, great service. The Negroni's were spot on. Food in both restaurants first class with the Highlander being truly five star. You must have the scallops. Free breakfast not your usual continental but everything including delicious smoothies. This is an example of people with a passion for hospitality over money making running an establishment that clearly cares, from the bar staff, waiters, front desk and lovely couple who showed us the different room styles, not to forget the great chefs!

The love of my life organized for us to stay here. I can not imagine a more romantic and perfect setting. I have traveled round the world but nothing prepared me for the beauty of this place. The lodge is surrounded by pathways and walks through woodland ,flowers ,trees, plants and groves. The place is like fairyland. The team who work there are fabulous and the bus drivers to Dove Lake go above and beyond . We ate well ,all the meals were great. I will never forget the time we spent together there and we will definitely return soon . thankyou so much Mand x

Not the cheapest accommodation option for Cradle Mountain surrounds but it was quite a nice place to stay and eat. The breakfasts were incredible and the food in other meals was very good indeed! The service was excellent and obviously located in a stunning place. The only thing I would ask for improvements in was the price paid. But otherwise perfect.

These guys are totally committed to making your time here enjoyable. We had above and beyond service especially from Daniel who is the Guest Services Manager.
He went out of his way to help me when I arrived with a sprained knee including getting ice packs sent up from the town below and providing any assistance I needed.
The restaurant staff were thoroughly entertaining and knowledgeable about food, wine and the local surroundings. Will be coming back!

Location, ambience, views. Easily got to. Centrally located for walks and short driving distance to a variety of walks. Comfortable rooms & few without television so you talk, play cards or board games or just chill. Beautiful open fires in lounges and dinning areas. Wild life in abundance and appear unafraid of us humans, though not to be fed!.

My partner and i had finished the Overland track a day early because of the lousy winter weather (June), torrential rain, limited visibility and cold, but hey we knew what we were in for. We had a night booked but showed up a day early. The reception staff were very accommodating and organized a room for us for the night which was an upgrade on our original room to the King Billy suite. We were fantastically pleased, being cold and soaking wet to get driven to our suite and finding a room with central wood fireplace, kingsize bed huge bathroom and outdoor spa on a private balcony. Best of all was the decanter of port with the tag around the neck "please help yourself to a glass of port." Well we certainly did.
Then it started to snow.... Well, having a bottle of wine in the 'hot' outside spa was outofthisworld!
Food in bistro was ok, but prices reflected this. A pizza bar would be good. Breakfast buffet was also ok.
But if you can afford the extra, splurge on the room, and you won't be disappointed.

We loved our time here. We were a little worried having read some of the recent reviews but the renovation has been completed and the place is about as good as it gets for the area.

Just remember that this part.of Tasmania is as amazing as it is remote. These are cabins and don't have TVs, why you'd want one who knows. Highly recommend even at the price. Just remember to bring some snacks and beverages as the prices at the store are high for even small things.

We stayed in a cabin room with a pleasant gas fireplace, which kept us cosy. The rear window looked out on wilderness and we saw wildlife on occasion. The breakfast buffet had everything we wanted. The hotel is close to the national park and the desk staff cheerfully answered our questions.

Spa was great! Location great! I always love heading up to Cradle Mountain. First time staying at Cradle Wilderness. Staff very good. Had high hopes for dinner based on menu however steak was drastically over cooked (a shame as seems like a great cut), potatoes were undercooked and needed some herbs or a Jus to lift them. Drinks were good !! Scallop entree was great!! Please sort the steak dish as this could be a real winner if cooked to order.
Electric blanket and gas fireplace did not work and was unable to get help with this before reception closed for the day. Resolved the following day which we were grateful for.

The rooms were so large and well equipped, had everything from a wood fireplace to a spa in our bathroom!

The rooms were so well presented, we were very impressed. The staff were also amazing, ever eager to help us, from recommending us things to do, to helping us find some 98 fuel they worked tirelessly for us.

Wow the breakfast buffet was amazing. The selection was pretty wide and the food was great!

There's also a huge wood fireplace to get cozy on those cold winter mornings, but it was summer when we stayed so unfortunately we didnt get to enjoy it as much

It featured all the staples, when scrambled eggs and sausages to create a full English breakfast to lighter options like cereal and pastries. They even had a large pot of congee if you prefer the Asian way to start a day!

What impressed us was actually the yoghurt. It tasted so fresh and when combined with the preserved fruits it was absolutely gorgeous.

Absolutely recommend you stay here when in Cradle Mountain

Bedding was decent for pricing. The cabin allocated to our group of 8 was spacious and cozy. Close to all major walking tracks. Definitely would recommend to anybody hoping to spend a day or more hiking in the most beautiful spot Tasmania offers!

The place is beautiful, but went into the tavern wasn't to busy. Ordered two flat whites and a bowl of chips, waited patiently for coffees for 30 minutes although I could see no one was making coffees so I decided to ask the staff which they still took another 10 minutes to make the coffees, apon asking if our coffees are coming I asked how long the chips will be, didn't get a direct answer. Told the staff I was still waiting on chips when they delivered the coffees, felt ignored as no one checked the order. I asked for a refund as I still hadn't got the chips after an hour, didn't know how to do a refund didn't say sorry and said they forgot the order...

Nice

Beautiful accommodation. Loved every night we stayed there. So close to great hikes and trails. Spent several hours by the fire in the main lodge reading. The cabin itself was quite comfortable. The only negative was the breakfast - tired buffet with soggy eggs and chewy cold bacon, a broken coffee machine and all cramped into a corner which brought out the worst in people climbing over each other to get to the food. Other than that the place was perfect.

Had an amazing stay at Peppers Cradle mountain Lodge! I can't fault the staff or the room- the music in the room and fire going upon arrival really set the vibe and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment here. Will be back again someday soon!

We were so excited to stay at this picture perfect cabin and enjoy it too the utmost. We stayed with our friends for 3 nights at this lodge and honestly speaking for $500 per night, I expected better service. Other than the towels being changed, the rooms were not cleaned especially to a hotel standard. The food at the Tavern was good except for the pizza ( under cooked base and breaks in the middle !!????l) Breakfast portions were kids meal size and barista coffee was charged extra. We ordered 2 meals per person which they were fine with since the buffet option was unavailable due to covid 19. On the third day, they decided that it will be only 1 per person. Even 5 star hotels don't change their policy mid way through your stay. The Enchanted walk is refreshing, other than that- Sigh!!

Located about 2+ hours drive away from Launceston ...

Located about 2+ hours drive away from Launceston or 4 hours from Hobart, cradle mountain offers a quiet retreat, and Peppers did just that: be prepared not to have wifi in the rooms, intermittent telco connection (but there will be wifi connectivity in the lounge area) for those who cannot live without data!

We stayed in the pencil pine cabin for 2 nights, and parking is available just outside the cabin. The first afternoon we had visitor: wallaby! The cabin is also located walks, suitable for children.

Room was quiet and clean, with a gas heater (fireplace) to warm up the room up to individual s preference. The hotel even provided us with a surprise bottle of wine (as we were celebrating our honeymoon!) - that s a nice touch!

The only additional feedback I will provide: the 2 washers (located in another cabin nearby) wasn t functioning though the dryers were.

Overall, a good stay!

Always one of the best places in Tassie

Always one of the best places in Tassie
Especially during Winter when it is snowing
First time I have ever seen reflections
Also this year I saw Dove Lake frozen
Big Wow factor all around

Loved our stay. Our room was downgraded due to renovations but manangement made sure we were looked after and compensated with meals and spa allowances. Rooms are very nice, lots of little extra touches. Visits on tbe back porch by some pademelons was cute also! Great food at the two restuarants and highly recommend the spa (sanctuary) to unwind

Expected more for what we paid. Had dinner in their restaurant, turned out to horrible experience. 2 fish dishes, wify and son just managed to finish with just ok feeling. My stake, took my effort to finish it as it's too pricey to left. Daughter had miserable dish which she had just 3-4 spoon. We tested and say sorry that we can't help her to finish it. My wife and my son had to share their fish to her. She can't eat my stake neither.
I'm curious they're share the kitchen with their bar. Had dinner at the bar night before and the food was great.
Hotel had great location, unfortunately they can't make the most of what they've got.

Nice.

Absolutely loved this lodge. Our room was spacious with its own fire (and gas heater if you couldn t be bothered with a fire). The balcony looked onto forest with a small stream and was private and restful. The Highlands restaurant has a good menu and personable and attentive wait staff. The National Park entrance is a short walk from the lodge. The public lounge was warm and inviting, and the staff made you feel welcome. There seems to be a program of renovations on so it will only get better!
