Great room, excellent staff. Walking distance from everything and a good base. Like everywhere in SF there are homeless around outside, especially at night but never felt threatened and it s a city wide problem.
Very nice atmosphere.
The staff is friendly and helpful.
We had a really nice room.
The Hotel Spero is a beautiful hotel in a great location. My room was beautifully decorated with a large bathroom and shower. It was also quiet and very clean. The bed was impeccably clean and crisp. The remote control for the TV was inside a disposable plastic bag.
The lobby has a sanitizing station and precautionary signage for covid19.
.
Hallways were nice and clean.
Overall a great hotel.
Highly recommend.
Oh, where do I begin...First of all, when my mom and I arrived, our room was not ready: apparently, they were still cleaning it. Mind you that their check in is at 3:00 pm and we arrived at 4:30 pm. We still had to wait for half an hour for our room to be ready. Unfortunately, when we finally got to our room, it had NOT been cleaned (dirty toilet, sink, trash everywhere etc.) We were eventually put into a different room; however, it was not terribly clean either. On top of that, it was much smaller than our original room.
Location wise, it's not a bad place, but the hotel is not a 4 star joint by any means. I will not be staying there again.
Older, a bit worn down, cost for value worked out okay.
Rooms are newly renovated and very nice, staff is friendly, very good for the price.
Very good value for money, awesome rooms. Service excelence
Great Hotel and service. Location is on the border of tenderloin which has its issues. But if you just keep kind of which way Union square is, you'll be fine.
Pleasant hotel, newly renovated. Friendly service, good breakfasts, very close to Union square.
Unfortunately, I can not recommend this hotel if we consider the price-quality criteria. Thin walls let through sounds from the entire floor to the whole hotel is now smacked with the proverbial mouse. Breakfast only in the restaurant next door. In the area there are many better places where you can eat something than in Jasper so I do not recommend;)
Hotel Spero has an immaculate main lobby, very trendy, clean while being inviting. My room on the twelvth floor had an amazing view and was very clean. The interior decorating was minimal seemed like the cross between your favorite yoga studio and an executive meditation space, with a very comfortable bed. I'd definitely stay there again.
The room was clean and well maintained, the staff were friendly and courteous, and the location was convenient for my purposes. There were no free tv channels or music though which was a little annoying however there was free wifi.
Easy hotel, nice staff, very clean (& quiet) rooms. Good curtains block light (much better than most). Typical smaller SF hotel room. My room had bathtub, but no desk. Easy wall to Union Sq.
Lovely and clean. Nice staff. Bathroom is tiny. Within walking distance to plenty of restaurants and attractions. I would be happy to stay here again.
Recently renovated. Good restaurant with great olive bread and poutine. Reception Staff go over and above. Housekeeping were amazing with helping me locate something I left behind. Great boutique hotel and despite the vagrant element that comes with down town I felt safe and enjoyed my stay.
I'm sorry but this was not good for what we paid. No facilities to make a hot drink in your room. Bathroom so small, could just about dry my hair. Reception staff unhelpful. But worst of all, and not the hotels fault but the amount of drug taking in the street, drug dealing, homeless right outside the door. We were gobsmacked. It's really sad. But I was afraid to leave hotel on my own .
Beautiful design. A little bit rough around the edges with some parts in disrepair but I enjoy the character of little hotels like this.
Rooms are clean but small. A little pricey. Neighborhood is a little dirty. There is a decent little restaurant, Jaspers, downstairs attached to the Hotel.
Hotel is in great area for walking tours. Beautiful lobby. Rooms need up grade furniture for most part was poor, and run down
Solid 4 Star spot. Very polite and Courteous staff, clean (and cute) rooms and complimentary coffee in the morning when you need to head out on your day. My wife and I stayed here on our short trip to San Fran and found that it fit our needs. We were about a 10 minute Lyft or Uber ride from anything we wanted to go to.
Pretty well located hotel near Union Square. The neighborhood is a little tough but most people keep to themselves. Rooms are small, reasonably decorated but lack some things such as coffee facilities. It's fairly quiet despite the location and staff at the front desk are service oriented.
The hotel is pretty cool. You can tell it's an older building, but we enjoyed our stay. The room had a little funky smell and was a little dirty, but not bad. You expect some of that with an old building. The location is the biggest doc for them. They're really close to the Tenderloin so I wouldn't recommend this as a good place for young kids.
Stayed here because it was the best price in the area and offered a great corner view room. It has an old 20s feel to it but nicely kept. Had a great time
The location is good, close to Union Square. The hall is a little bit small and very glamour, but the rooms are great! Big TV and comfortable bed. They are overall clean, except under the pieces of furniture, where I have found, for instance, a sock. The safe is not bolted, which is wierd and make it totally inefficient, as anyone could juste take it and leave with it, and have plenty of time to open it in his garage. Overall, great hotel.
Camps are perfect, ok price, clean and tidy. Expensive parking
This hotel and the hotel rooms are extremely beautiful and the service here is amazing. The staff here went above and beyond to accommodate me and my friends. We came in from our flight really early and didn't feel like carrying around the luggage while we got to explore the city so they held onto our luggage until our room was ready with so much gracefulness and politeness. Not only that they were ready to serve our every need and this is exactly the kind of service that every Hotel restaurant and any other service provider should definitely have. Definitely will return to this hotel every time I'm in San Francisco.
Hotel spero is really nice hotel it was really well maintained and really good quality in a nice Vibe the lobby is excellent and the rooms were just quite small compared to other hotels. The location is pretty great for walking to many things
This hotel was beautiful inside our room was very nice inside a little small but very cozy and the bed was perfect! my only issue I had was when I showered the tub did not drain and I can't stand standing in a tub of water that isn't draining but the shower was nice and had a huge shower head. There was a lot of homeless people outside in the area but they didn't really bother us the valet at the hotel was very nice and their appearance was very professional. I think the food in the area was way over priced tho as each time for 2 of us it was no less then 80 dollars to eat. Overall our stay here was great tho the hotel staff was super friendly and welcoming.
A very nice hotel. Our city view was more of a top of a parking structure view.
One of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. Great location. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Beds are extremely comfortable. TV is huge. The rooms are very nicely designed and wonderful to rest it. I will definitely stay here again! Also. Jasper's is connected to the hotel and a nice place to drink and eat!
Buyer beware of all the hidden taxes and service fees!
The staff is very nice. The housekeeping is great too. Comfortable rooms. Good location.
Went to meet up with a friend that was in town. Hotel staff seemed friendly. The room and the hotel need a major refresh. My friend was bummed that he was put up in that hotel.
Really bummed how small our room is. I feel like a sardine. I think our walking closet at home has more room than this one. They gave us a key for the mini bar and it was an empty non working refrigerator. Stuck here for 2 more nights.
nice and neat place. rooms are small but thats OK since everything except that is good.
Great atmosphere. Decent free coffee in the morning. The tubs in the sweets are Jacuzzi things, pretty cool.
The location is pretty good. The room is smaller than I thought, and the facilities are very basic. Waipa is a good place. I arrived at around one o'clock and thought I could not check in.
The hotel itself is older and the staff was meager, but pleasant. My beef with this place is the location. When you're inside the hotel, it feels like you've been taken back to another time but as soon as you walk out the door, you're confronted with angry, drunken bums and the rush of city traffic.
Beautiful hotel with great atmosphere, friendly staff and a good night's rest.
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Little old but great location with reasonable price. Loved the free coffee at morning which make great environment in the lobby
Rooms are small
The location was great for the price, in comparison to other hotels in the area. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were comfortable though a bit dated. The windows are not very sound proof though so try and get a higher floor.
Even though it's being renovated, the rooms were really nice. The TV was huge. It was a great location!
I found this hotel to be charming, quaint and very clean. Beautiful lobby, down comforters on the comfortable beds, no reused bedspreads. New windows, retiled bathrooms, robes and quiet, small rooms. It was all I required and I would return!
The only good thing about this hotel is the location which is pretty central. However: 1. They massively inflated the price due to the per night "resort fee" that is forced upon you. Therefore you should compare the price per night of other hotels in the area including the larger resort fee you'll pay here. The only thing in the resort fee useful to us was the internet... which is usually included at most hotels. So the resort fee was useless for us. Part of the resort fee is a present they give to you upon arrival. Yeah, I don't need another water bottle... 2. They also charge another $4 or $5 per night if you choose to pay with a credit card! 3. Jasper's restaurant / bar is in the bottom of the hotel but there's no easy way to order food up. There is a menu which is out of date and without prices. But to order food they force you to go through a third party mobile app which didn't work for me. 4. There's no tea or coffee making facility in the room. Not even water. 5. They give you ear plugs as a present. So I'm guessing some rooms will be very loud. 6. The quality of the rooms is a little worn. 7. The staff basically never smile and look grumpy.
Would I stay there again? NO...
Classy and classic boutique hotel with a good New American restaurant. Good proximity to the Moscone Center.
Amazing rooms, staff, location and they accept pets with no issue. Beds are comfy and its unbelievably quiet considering the neighborhood. Will definitely return.
I spent 6 nights, I was very well attended first service, excellent location
Service is fantastic! Rooms are slightly small, but my corner room (1201) has an amazing Jacuzzi tub. Restaurant attached has great happy hour, but very small menu. Over all good deal for the price.
In the downtown area. Parking is $59 a night. Hotel was nice/clean. Great fitness center.
Nice hotel and staff but the room was smaller than expected.
Clean, nice, efficient, attentive, service, always ready to help. I will come back in a bit!! Very pleasurable experience
I stayed in the Serenity Suite and it had a nice view but the hotel itself was old and there were obvious signs of wear and tear. Apparently now they are charging a ridiculous amount of money to stay there. There are better values for your dollar elsewhere
Old historical feel but currently renovating. Gym, restaurant with good food, you can get to through hotel, pretty decent price, right in the middle of San fran, pier 39 a few miles away
Convenient when trying to get to restaurants and convention center.
The hotel has been recently renovated. Is very cute. The only flaw: the rooms are small and very small closet. I did not know where to place the suitcase and not even think to undo it. You could solve using the space bar to create a door closet. The last straw was that the rooms had a tv from 50 pollici.Portate small suitcase with Massimo 2 changes.
Art deco place in the heart of SF. Small rooms but clean.
My stay at Serrano was pretty good overall, but a few quirks could still be worked out. There was no free breakfast from what I saw, though they did have free coffee and tea in the lobby. I was disappointed that I could not access the gym area. Its very pedestrian accessible; please (as with any hotel in SF) don't bring a car, parking is very expensive.
Overall its a very good value for San Francisco, room were clean and quiet and beds were comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area.
The hotel was great. The location was very centralized around what you want to see in San Francisco.
They upgraded our room on request to a suite. A very pleasant experience. We also got several other rooms for our group. They are very average side rooms for San Francisco area hotels. Not a bad hotel
Staff is great but the hotel, facilities and rooms are very old and outdated. As if it was overdue for a renovation 10 years ago. Stay at the Clift across the street for $20 more and it's truly a gem.
It was close to my conference and the food was good
Expensive for nothing. The bed was comfortable but parking is stupid expensive, and the hotel attempted to charge us fees we had already paid on checkout. Interior is dated but clean.
Staff were really nice and building has nice finishings. Room is a little small though.
Company paid for my accommodation. Reception said they needed to scan my credit card to secure the booking. I just arrived back home with Serrano swiping me for $250.
Great service and comfortable rooms for the price. Walking distance to a lot of great sites. Would recommend!
Great hotel. Clean and well maintained. Nice ambience. Convenient location.
Extremely clean room we stayed in and elegant lobby (although the building is older). Our room is tiny and we must have picked a busy night to stay in SF, the room rate we paid was almost double of other days and other hotels were fully booked.. Aside from the high room rate, I would rate it a 4.5-5 because my wife is very fuzzy about smelly bed linens, carpets, etc, she was very happy as she found no issues with cleaniness. Kudos the housekeeping staffs.
First time here and we loved it. Girls weekend in the Serenity Suite. Spacious, clean and very nicely decorated. Will definitely be back!! Convenient parking next door also.
It's just a clean business hotel
You can't expect more than that
Clean, modern, comfortable rooms. Our room had a pretty decent view. Restaurant was pretty good as well. Easy walking to many things.
REMODELD OLDER MID SIZE HOTEL A FEW BLOCKS FROM UNION SQUARE. ROOMS ARE VERY SMALL BUT WELL APPOINTED, BUT DEFINITELY NOT WORTH $350 TO $400 A NIGHT. FAR MIRE ELEGANT HOTELS NEARBY FOR SAME PRICE WITH BETTER SERVICES.
Horrible administrative issues, but the staff is nice and hotel is pretty.
Hotel was in a good location downtown. Was easy to get anything and anywhere you might need. The hotel itself was clean and the staff was friendly. Rooms were adequate and bathrooms were nice. Would recommend.
Ornate, beautifully decorated lobby. Attentive staff. Clean but small rooms, worn furnishings, many layers of paint. Close to Union Square, but an iffy section of the city. Many homeless on the streets. Very expensive forced valet parking. Restaurant is mediocre. Lots of extra charges. What's an "urban fee" anyway? If I knew then what I know now, i would not have chosen this hotel.
Located on the brink of the tenderloin, I grabbed drinks and appetizers here with some guests of the hotel. Lobby was very pretty, their room seemed small and simple, but cool view from the 12th floor. Drinks were pretty weak. Pretzel was delicious.
Beautiful historic hotel, solid cherry wood furniture. Very clean, pleasant atmosphere.
Located at the bad side of union Square, full of homeless people. Rooms are nice, though everything feels a bit old despite of the renovation. Fitness center is lame if you're not into cardiovascular.
But the worst is the service: the staff is probably the most unfrienldly I've seen. We stayed there for a week. 7 days getting in and out of the hotel, several times a day. They wouldn't even greet us hello, were totally indifferent, and gave us the general feeling that it's better if we don't disturb them. Our room was not cleaned for three days in a row (the first day we asked to skip cleaning, the two following days house keeping just skipped our room for no good reason). And for the grand finale, on our last night the room next to us decided to throw a drink inning party, starting at 2 AM, with outside guests and loud music. Though it's not the hotel's fault, the way they handled the situation was so lame: They practically did nothing other than to wait two hours for the police to show up (it's a private property, why couldn't their security do something about it?), which was anyhow too late as the party was over, and our night was gone. Needles to say that the next morning no one said anything or apologized for the inconvenience.
Bottom line: bad value for your money. Go to Hilton across the street and you'll get much better for the same price.
Location was good. Walking distance to much of the city. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Cute decor. The room was very clean and cozy. Central location (near Union Square) and is close to everything. A little noisy at night due to its location but very nice hotel overall.
