Motel grade rooms but with the things you'd expect in a hotel. A beautiful place, nice views, quiet and cosy.

The restaurant and pub both serve great food and awesome beer selection.

A little bummed by a gas fire instead of a conventional log fire, especially as the room has (decorative) logs in it.

Would be perfect if they added log cabins with proper fireplaces.

Beware of road closures during and around the winter months.

Best location in the world. But current owners are charging high and aiming low. Don't stay. But do visit and eat at the tavern, they have a new crew and are producing amazing food at decent prices. Don't bother with the main restaurant, but the front desk ( Paola) was lovely with all our issues.

Loved this place! We missed out of the fine dining experience (must book) but dinner at the tavern was sensational and my steak was cooked perfectly. Think warm cozy cabins right at the foothills of Cradle Mountain set amongst the backdrop of pine trees, deep forrests, lovely walking tracks and surrounded by wildlife. Highly recommend the enchanted walk around sunset where you will spot Tassies beautiful nocturnal creatures, in particular wombats, wallabies, echidnas.. even the odd devil.

Breakfree/Mantra/Peppers don t ever use them.
Cradle Mountain booking 1 night made on line tick the terms and condition didn t bother reading, who does as any other chain you get a full refund if you cancel at short notice so didn t think they d be any different. Cancelled 3 wks later and lost $200 of the $370 as this is the deposit for any booking and the cheeky $25 cancellation fee (despite doing it online) and then the kicker, they didn t even refund the other $175, instead giving you a credit to use at their properties for up to 12 months. I complained and they tell you that if I d made it by phone, they would be required to tell me about the non-refundable $200 (read out all the terms and conditions).
Ring to complain and it s a sorry, it s just our policy despite giving them advice on how they could better communicate during an online booking process and how out of keeping they are with other large hotel chains.
Will never stay at any of these resorts and tell everyone to watch out for their ridiculous non-refundable deposit (especially if staying for just a night).
Unfortunately will never be able to rate this resort because I'll never stay there.

Absolutely stunning location. Accommodation was excellent, clean and comfortable. The dining options were great and the food very enjoyable. it snowed when we were there and made for a picture perfect setting. Plenty of wildlife right on your door step and the walk around the lake is definitely worth doing if you have a reasonable level of fitness.

A stunning environment, warm, comfortable luxurious accommodation. The staff really made our stay unforgettable, in particular Michael in the bar, and Aimee and Laura in the restaurant. The food was brilliant. We spent an hour in the sanctuary watching wildlife pass by from the private outdoor spa.

Lovely room with a fireplace, King bed, huge spa, kitchenette. The grounds were fantastic with wildlife everywhere, and plenty of short walks to explore. Highlight was certainly the on-site spa, which we rented out for an hour of pure relaxation. We had the steam room, sauna and outdoor spa all to ourselves, complete with wine. It was fantastic.

Cradle Mountain Lodge was packed the day friends and I went for a hike. The food was delicious but not delivered speedily due to the amount of people at the lodge. Staff were efficient but not overly friendly and all a different nationality. The lodge itself was extremely cold even with the fire going. Location is stunning in the snow, which was the primary reason we went.

Feel sorry for the cold hearted, bitter people who don't fall in love with this place. Hotel is located right in the middle of one of the most beautiful places on planet earth. Room is warm and cosy with log fire place. Restaurants were reasonably priced given the remote location. Staff were helpful and accomodating.

We chose the bistro for its out look, atmosphere, large open fires and comfy feel. A very pleasant pre dinner drink after a fabulous day walking in the National Park. Our dinner was terrific, served promptly, hot and delicious. The staff are very friendly, helpful and efficient.

Lovely hotel in a gorgeous location! Room was much bigger than expected and with a (gas) fireplace. Lodge area was divine with the open fires and cozy lounges. Breakfast included was great, however other dining options are a bit limited and expensive (as expected for such an isolated location).

A great hotel in Cradle Mountain! stayed here in winter and it was excellent. cabin was cosy and had a wood fire and it was going when we arrived. Great staff, nice restaurant with tasty food. Also the Lodge has a outdoor spa which is awesome!

Time for reflection! We couldn t have picked the worst days to come weather wise. There has been lots of wild life around .
A couple of things for people to know.
If you are planning to go into the national park, grab you bus shuttle pass at the visitors centre on the way. The shuttle stops not far from the lodge.
Unless you want to pay for overpriced food, bring in a few supplies. Breakfast is lovely and included
1 ham and salad roll $6
The menu at the tavern doesn t seem to change... soup of the day could be soup of the week. We will see tonight. Overall it has been very pleasant, something different .. there aren t many places where you get snow in summer.
Fortunately we had most of our supplies as we had been travelling.

Absolutely loved our stay at Cradle Mountain lodge , to start with we were greeted by a lovely gentleman om the check in counter id like the business to recognise (sandee - not sure on correct spelling) he conducted himself very well with a trouble making customer ahead of myself who was causing some problems and being very demanding , he was very apologetic on her behalf which he didnt need to be , he then told us we had been upgraded to a spa room at our delight, the spa cabin we stayed in was perfect with the cosy fire and clean facilities , dinner at the tavern was very enjoyable both nights and also breakfast each morning was lovely too , nothing really i can fault about this place , and its in a perfect location for getting to and from the National park each day
Will definately recommend and come back when we can

In short, overpriced and disappointing.

In short, overpriced and disappointing.

Everything is old and dated. Food is extremely expensive for the quality. Charging $4.50 for a cappucino on top of a $26 breakfast buffet is a joke when you also consider the nightly accom rates.

Staff at desk were pushing lodge guided tours and walks and verged on discouraging us from self- driven walks through the park. Similarly they told us there were no bbq areas nearby for lunch (advising us the tavern is open). theres bbqs about 500m from our cabin.

Everything about this place feels design to milk money out of you - thats fine if the quality is high, but its not.

Suited to old folks with lots of cash - if this is not you, stay elsewhere. Get an airbnb or self-service cabin nearby.

Worst accom we stayed at in a two week trip around tassie. I do not understand why anyone is rating it highly.

This time Tasmania is a fitness trip, two or three hours of trip to the lake, the magnificent scenery makes people stay in love, and directly disturb the trip to live in the mountains!

Fantastic stay at the lodge, animals were quite friendly and got within a few metres of people. I highly recommend bringing your own pillow as theirs can be quite stiff. In cabin fires helped to keep the cold at bay and overall was fantastic to just relax Infront of the fire. Complimentary breakfast was a full buffet which is including in the lodge stay. Definitely worth the stay.

Really nice hotel. We book in the last minute, and they were able to accomodate us really effectively. Spa and sauna was definitely a bonus after a long day trekking. Food could be better

Staying at the lodge for my first nights holiday after 6 months of working 7 days a week was the perfect way to start a holiday. Finding the lodge was easy as was checking in. Even the cheapest level room was quiet and the feeling of seclusion was wonderful. The food was the best i had ever had and the open fires were the best was to stay warm. Wonderful and unbeatable experience!

The chalet we had was great, cosy and warm. No TVs so it was truly an escape and mental reset! The food in the Highland restaurant was quite good! More or less worth the price, the Beef Fillet was just the best cut of meat and cooked to perfection, hands down the best I've had.

Great place in Cradle Mountain with all Hi-Tec detox program. Just one intersting thing that caught my attention. Which is the big hole in the room. Which you can see it when you wakes up from bed. Above that the service and the staffs here are great and caring.

The cabins are a bit tired and maintenance a bit lacking. Breakfast in the lodge is quite good but a fairly small range of items. The tavern (which is part of the lodge) is a good option for a casual meal. We booked the spotlighting tour but they never showed.

Worth the price due to the location close to the national Park and nestled within bushland. Staff were friendly and helpful and lots of small touches that made it special.
Warning: poor reception so perfect to 'get away' but don't expect to stream Netflix from your room.

Perfect base to experience the walks of Cradle Mountain. Love the timber cabins with the wood fire. Restaurant and the bar were a great experience for the food and the timber decor. A must visit.

Very disappointed, the rooms are in need of a refurbishment as they are outdated. The majority of the staff were extremely rude and regarded us as an inconvenience. We stayed in the Pencil pine cabin which doesn't have a TV or internet coverage (which we weren't advised of). The only free wifi was in the Tavern, not even available in the restaurant. We paid $249 which was so overpriced. Stay at the Discovery Park along the road, great value for money.

Location is fantastic, and dining in the highland restaurant was great, albeit expensive with few other options around. The accommodation itself was poor value for money though. At $250/night, the rooms are quite basic, and the bed we had was very uncomfortable.

Can't recommend this place enough. I guess it has a head start with the natural beauty of the area but it is only enhanced by the Lodge and the cabins, one of which we stayed in. The welcoming fire (albeit gas) with arm chairs ready to relax in were just one of the features of the spacious room which led out onto a good size balcony amidst bushland that you couldn't get sick of looking at. We ate in the pricier restaurant and weren't disappointed. The service was excellent with friendly staff and the meals were delicious. Sitting beside the terrific fire on comfortable dining chairs made for a very enjoyable evening. The restaurant turned into a buffet breakfast which lived up to any I have had before.

Location is amazing, a few short walks start from the hotel and then the shuttle bus down to Cradle Mountain leaves just down the road... Note you can get it from the ranger station which is a 5min walking distance but you will need to have already purchased the bus tickets from the visitor center (your drive by it on the way to the lodge).
Rooms looked nice with a comfy bed and fireplace. It seems they been renovated recently however forgot to do the bathroom... bathroom is very basic.
Breakfast was great with some nice options and all you really need. Coffee from their self serve machines are great and taste exactly the same as the paid ones so don t bother getting ripped off.
Hotel stuff are nice but not overly welcoming at reception, but hit and miss. Perhaps they tired as they multitask in different roles.
Overall a comfortable stay however it some attention to detail to the rooms and a little more welcome staff would make it even better.

Very relaxing stay, comfortable chalet, delicious meals in both the Tavern and restaurant and an amazing Spa treatment... what more could a girl want! Lot's of short walks around the lodge & a short walk to catch the bus into Dove Lake

Really nice place! We stayed in one of the pencil pine cabins and it was lovely. We saw two wombats wandering around down the road and tons of wallabies. Beautiful walks very close to the lodge. Nice cafe at the visitor center that had great soup and chips!

I booked in November 2019 to stay on September 2020
My flight was cancelled due to COVID restrictions and I forgot I had made this booking. I had no contact from the hotel prior to the booking.
The hotel claim they called me prior to the booking but I have no records of any messages left! They have charged my credit card 100% of the charge when I protested they offered a 50% of the charge as a credit valid to June 2021, as a minimum it should be 100% open ended due to COVID
