DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR HOLIDAY.
Booked this lodge for $770/ night for 4 nights, a total of $3300+ including fees etc. The lodge is very basic for this price, but is the closest to Cradle Mountain and the staff are supposed to take the guesswork out of the local attractions and help guide the guests...
The staff didn t know anything at all, but instead misinformed me on several key points that had me setting out on my day hike to summit the mountain and unable to do it entirely because of the misinformation. When I called them after I d already departed to clarify they then misled me again and I was forced to abandon the hike due to limited time and the timing of incoming inclement weather.
This was the whole reason for the trip and stay: to summit cradle mountain, and they ruined it for me. I checked out a day early at 9:30am frustrated and let down by them and they refused to refund the last night I didn t stay because it was pointless without the hike. Extremely rude. Do not trust them with your precious holiday time, especially for this money.
Chef couldn t cook a steak either. I asked for it medium rare and it came out well done, then I sent it back and another came out bloody rare. I had to instruct them how long to put the second steak on the grill for it to be saved. Just miserable really. Not a place you pay this kind of money for at all.
Don t say here.

Absolutely loved this resort. Amenities were great. Food in the restaurant was great. Location was fantastic. Very very pretty location. Rooms were very comfortable. Take a deck of cards as there are no TVs here, but you don't really miss this. We had fun without TV and I will definitely be back in the future. Really loved this place. Staff were so helpful and friendly.

We visited here last year and loved it so much that we came back for our honeymoon last month! The service from the staff here is second to none. We absolutely doted over the wildlife - pademelons, wallabies, echidnas! The Highland Restaurant had exceptional food and the service staff were so friendly. The Waldheim Spa is definitely worth a visit, I don t think I ve ever been as relaxed as I was after I visited there! We adore Cradle Mountain Lodge and I m sure we will be back in the future.

We came in July and planned to stop in for lunch. Note, you do not need to buy a national parks pass to visit the lodge.
We were amazed at the amount of snow that was falling and we entered the park and as we sat at the lodge tavern for lunch.
Highly recommend coming here even for a drink at the place is just beautiful.

The whole complex is tired, dated and nearly run down. The main dining room is closed and the restaurant is in another makeshift room that is very small. Diners are literally jammed in. The staff are doing their best to keep up appearances - but it s run down operation.

Have just returned from a tour of Tasmania, the highlight was two nights at Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge. A magical time. 2 inches of snow, wonderful, roaring fires, excellent heating in cabin. great food. Who on earth would want wifi in the cabin? not me, did a little emailing in the lodge, when I could spare the time!

This was our third visit in the last five years. Every time we have had a fantastic time. The staff are wonderful, the location speaks for itself and the food in the Highland restaurant is exceptional. The trip this time was to celebrate my wife birthday, flowers were waiting in our room for her on arrival, her massage on her birthday was the best she has had and the happy birthday note in chocolate on her dessert plate was a lovely touch. We shall be back :)

Gorgeous lodge with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay in the icey winter. Umesha on reception was an absolute star and a credit to the Lodge. All staff were friendly, helpful and warm but she went above and beyond to guide us on walking tracks and made us feel so welcome.

Great position, comfortable rooms, great food in the bistro. Restaurant not tempting in terms of price and menu. High tea outrageously expensive which was a shame. Fantastic breakfast included in the price. Cabins need better food prep area, bigger fridge, something to allow for a bit of minor self catering as paying for 2 meals a day would be difficult for families.

Accommodation costs are quite high.
However, the rooms are large and have high ceilings, so you can relax and relax in the fireplace.
You can see wild wallabies on the hotel grounds, and occasionally wombats.
There are plenty of walking courses, and you won't get bored even if you stay for 3 nights.
Chairs are provided so that you can spend the night looking at the stars slowly.
The altitude is high, so the stars are beautiful. It's cold except summer.

The scenery is great, as is the food at the bistro. Plenty of wildlife around the place. There are several issues though. This place is very expensive and it is old. It cost nearly $300 for a night in the off season. Our room had a wierd mouldy smell and was not very clean... It feels like something straight out of the 70s, with updated appliances. Be aware, there is no wifi in the rooms and no tv, then again, you're on top of a mountain... Honestly, if I were to go again, I would stay elsewhere, further down the mountain. I should add, the staff are all backpackers, and they are friendly but poorly trained. We needed a park pass, fortunately they were out of stock because upon returning to the visitor centre we found out the pepper's staff were going to sell us the wrong one.

Excellent room with a gas fire and a nice view of a large pond. Wombats and wallabies right outside our window! Big breakfast buffet with good food. Good access to walking tracks and shuttle bus just across road from hotel. It's on the pricey side compared to other accommodation nearby but if you can splurge for a night or two it's enjoyable.

Awesome place! Loved my stay here, friendly and accommodating staff. The rooms are in need of upgrades however, very creaky floors and ticks during the night. But the location and food make up for the lack of comfort in your hotel room.

If segregation is what you are after Peppers at Cradle Mountain will give you this.
Personally we found this place inconvenient on all levels. No TV and No WIFI in the rooms which is understandable as isolation and tranquility is what the lodge is aiming for however given the state and appearance of the rooms this is hard to feel. Rooms have a very boring feel and look about them. Guests should be given the option to choose wether they would like additional facilities in their room. Instead the room had a very old radio which didn't even work. If we wanted to watch the news we had to drive down to the lobby area - impossible to walk in the rain or late at nights as i imagine the room to be very boring after hours of staying there. Reception staff were not accommodating. Also over heard a male staff member speak to an elderly couple in a rude manner. Food is not fresh and they do not have room service.
After being at Peppers for a few hours we had decided that was enough, Drove to the Cradle Mountain Hotel (highly recommended). The difference is staff at Cradle Mountain Hotel were extremely helpful and the hotel was much cleaner and well maintained. Facilities and common area were of a higher standard.
Cradle Mountain Hotel rates are better I would have gladly paid more here, staff are friendly, rooms were clean, $1 debit from credit card rather than the $200 at Peppers 3-5 days to refund.
1% surcharge rather than 2% at peppers. Linen on bed was clean and fresh rather than the old smelly bedding covers Peppers had used.
We spent a little extra on accommodation for this trip than initially expected however given the experience at Cradle Mountain Hotel they made it worth our time and money as the experience was enjoyable. You can still have the same experience of tranquility at Cradle Mountain Hotel.
Cradle Mountain is a beautiful place I loved our time there. Highly recommend the Cradle Mountain Hotel. do not stay at Peppers.

My husband and I visited Cradle Mountain for our anniversary and decided to stay at Cradle Mountain Lodge. It was one of the best accomodation we stayed in. The staff were attentive and friendly. The cabin was warm and they even provided champagne and chocolate for our celebration. It was such a lovely touch and rare for a chain establishment to have such attention to detail. We had mountain view room with spa. Loved the spa and the view. Bed is cosy and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it. We will be back for sure!

Ongoing Renovations made a difference mostly to the service as it was very busy. However staff were very helpful, we were very comfortable and ate at the bar on the evening. Our stay was one night only should have been longer as the area is superb for walking no matter what your level.

Beautiful lodge in the Cradle Mountain Park (it's actually the closest place to see to the park boundaries). There are a number of walking trails in and around the lodge that are spectacular (waterfalls, forests & foliage, and more). We signed up for the night time animal viewing charter from the lodge and it was worth it! The room itself was perfect, plenty of space with a nice outdoor patio. The fireplace was a nice feature for a mountain lodge as well.

Fantastic! Im a Western Sydney man, and I ve been to Tasmania 4 Times in my life and out of all the restaurants and hotels I ve been to Peppers is by far the best! The bistro has amazing food, especially the garlic bread!! They have really great service and all the staff are really friendly.
We stayed in a small cabin (#33), and it was amazing! Nice warm gas fireplace, the bed was so comfy, and the layout of the room and the view of the forest area outside was the highlight of the room!
There are heaps of walks to go on around the area, and tonnes of wombats and wildlife that come right up to the cabin!
And even better, it s as close to cradle mountain as you can get

Room was nice, newly renovated bathroom was great, complimentary port is a nice touch. Lodge is really nice, especially if you can get a spot in the lounge next to the fireplace! Disappointments were: fireplace in our room didn't work (which sucks when there's snow outside and there's no TV or wifi) and the restaurant was really nice but not worth the money. Actually... That kinda sums up the whole experience.. Nice, but the 20% 'cradle tax' on everything makes it hard to live up to the high expectations

Amazing place staff are so lovely and polite and very friendly . Extremely clean restaurant and toilets
We had a high tea and it was lovely. Not what was stated on their web site as we never had sausage rolls or any Wagyu beef that I could see .
Had some divine scones to start off.
The view was lovely and we enjoyed the peace and quiet in there.
Love the set out and furniture in reception
It's a must for a meal if staying there. Or you are still welcome to book for a meal if your not staying.
Just remember to book !!
Loved it and will be going back.
If there are dietary requirements just ring ahead or email them and they will accommodate for your needs.

This is our second stay at this lodge.
The lodge had been renovated since our last visit, and they have done a great job.
The room was very spacious yet cosy, had a spa and dressing gowns, slippers and beautiful views. The cabins are spread out in the native bush land, and ours opened on to a balcony. There is no TV. If you need a TV in your life this probably isn t for you.
The food and service was excellent. We will be going back again.

Pretty good quality cabins with fireplaces, although small and without proper wi-fi due to its remote location. It's location is its real advantage though as the lodge is central to many of the beautiful shorter walks and wildlife in the Cradle Mountain park.

To begin with, it's advised to stay off the roads leading to cradle mountain at night in winter.. the roadkill is horrendous and very windy roads/fog/mist. On arrival we were asked to pay $100 p/night for bond(total of 8nights), we were not aware of this and there was no internet or wifi on the mountain. Our accom was paid in full in advance. This brings me to the wifi situation at the lodge.. There is one room only at the main lodge where wifi is available..during our 9 day stay, the wifi only worked once. It was either down or Peppers hasn't topped up their data. Is only an issue when they specify wifi is available on their website. The bistro/bar is pretty cool, the atmosphere is awesome. However the prices are phenomenally expensive-over $15 for a glass of wine. The menu at the bistro is very small, not a lot of variety. Bookings are essential at Highland Restaurant, but worth it!! The food is incredible, but the prices mean you probably won't eat there every night. Our room was apparently upgraded, but on first glance we were really disappointed..not like the photos on the web. Our fireplace didn't work the first night so it was freezing!! Free breakfast means BUFFET.. One word.. DISGUSTING. Very poor quality.. Scrambled eggs, baked beans etc..
There are boardgames available which is pretty cool but they are all broken and pieces missing. No DVDs or tv.. So there isn't anything to do in the rooms. So simply put, the prices you pay to stay at Peppers are not reflected in the experience AT ALL.
