I had a sewage back up in my home in January 2017 and have been working with the rapid response team since. The dry out team was the first to respond and they were very quick and professional. After the dry out it has been a very long process. I was told that I needed to find out what "caused" the sewage back up before the inside would be able to be repaired. I was told that I could use my own plumber or I could use one of theirs; since I already used my plumber to snake out the pipe and already owed him for that, I decided to continue with my plumber. I was told that the insurance company would cover the "access" to the sewer pipe but I would be responsible for the material and the repair. I guess I understood that concept but when I submitted the bill, I received a call that they would only cover the "access" to the sewer pipe if they had to dig down through the slab from inside my house to the sewer pipe...THE PIPE IS OUT IN THE FRONT YARD! It has been a nightmare with all of the cost being placed on me. I received a plumbing bill for $2700 and they won't pay any of it.
It was suggested that now would be a good time to upgrade if I was considering it because they would need to replace all of my flooring and baseboards as well as some of the drywall in every room as well as paint except the master bed/bath on the opposite side of the house. Since I changed from Laminate to tile, I ended up paying over $3000 to the store for the tile and grout and an extra charge for the installation. I couldn't believe I was looking a bill for over $8000. I told them to take off the painting and I would paint myself because it was going to cost over $3000 for them to paint. Bottom line is that they over charge for everything so that you end up paying. I think the insurance companies that come out to access the damage, send you a check to get your own contractors for the repairs is the better deal. Less chance of being ripped off.
