Always feel like a home, I can't think of better place to stay in Canberra
A really fantastic place to go for business or pleasure, with friendly staff and well-appointed amenities and a great layout. Also, the coffee I ordered yesterday was perhaps the best coffee I've ever had... There's no short-cuts on any aspect of the experience.
We had drinks in the beautiful court yard. The service was of high caliber. Highly recommend.
Lovely old hotel offering great service. I was at a catered conference unfortunately the lunch was not good
I enjoy the food the location but last stay our bed sheets where ripped and torn they had not been checked from the previous people who had stayed makes me wonder if the bed sheets where even changed
This is a very well run Hotel. It may be because Canberra has access to a lot of smart intelligent students studying at the ANU, but I find the hotel as well as the wait Staff at the restaurant very good and very helpful. Be prepared to pay premium for this as well.
However you can go there out of parliamentary cycles and enjoy the discounts.
A beautiful Art Deco building! Very friendly and courteous staff. Would liked to have stayed longer. Within walking distance of Parliament House.
Beautifully maintained, great service, great location.
Stayed in a king room with balcony. Service was lovely, bed incredibly comfortable and everything we hoped for in a staycation
Very beautiful hotel and good size rooms. Air conditioning was a bit noisy and could not open a window to cool the room naturally. Were disappointed with the food at high tea buffet. But Canberra has so many choices for good food.
I loved the location and the fact that I was returning to a familiar place as I am a Hyatt loyalty member. However I did not like the long walks from the reception to the room. Car parking is a bit of a pain. The hotel building is old and it does show. Ground floor rooms should be avoided. Make sure your room phone works.
Beware this hotel is haunted(no joke), we experienced knocking inside our room, the shower turning on through the night, light switches going on and off and heavy smells of perfume. I also read that others had also experienced the same events. The hotel itself is not bad and the food was pretty good but I wouldn't return here.
Very nice little chalet with all mod cons right on the rail trail 2k from Bright.
Hyatt is not located in most convenient place but has great services and food. I went for desserts and the food was delicious, good atmosphere, and friendly staffs.
Stayed here on a business trip. Close enough to the shopping area which is about 30mins of walk or 10mins drive away. Hotel with great legacy with wonderful architectural designs.
Only downside is that nothing really much to do around for leisure.
Had an amazing time at the Hyatt, Vivian from the ambassadors Lounge provide and excellent service, definitely staying again.
Old and nice -- worth wandering just for the ambience. Food was really good. Did not stay though, just visited and eat at the restaurants.
There for high tea. Service and setting were excellent, food leaves a little to be desired. Otherwise an excellent afternoon.
Pros: fancy, very yummy, historic building
Cons: very expensive, not great service, more for special occasions
Beautiful surrounds, relaxed atmosphere and exemplary service. A true icon of Canberra.
Why would you have people employed to open the front door? Is it just to make guests feel uncomfortable? Seriously, we can open doors ourselves.
Everything was seamless. Easiest check in and check out experience. Enjoyed the ambassadors club for evening canapes and drinks.
The inside was amazing. The food was delicious. I was only turned off by the underdressed guests.
Wonderfully helpful staff, well appointed quiet rooms. The TVs were a bit 1998 and took a long time to warm up and change channels but I don't suppose many people go to nice hotels to watch TV...
Went to a wedding there, it was well catered and the staff was friendly and attentive.
A lovely meal (seafood buffet) with very good service despite being quite crowded.
The Hyatt is a world class beautiful hotel with new features and friendly, helpful staff. The restaurant is comfortable and service is as you would expect in a 5 star hotel. Outstanding pool and gym area. Highly recommend Hyatt to all.
Classic Canberra Art Deco style. Providing quality Breakfast and Hight Tea, as well as normal Hyatt quality accommodation and other restaurant services.
Great place to stay, great service and amazing location. Easy access to main tourist attractions such as Parliament house and Canberra central within a few minutes by car
Came for the high tea for my mum's birthday. Nice selections of sweet and savory buffet. Staffs are very friendly & attentive. Helen helped us through the booking & gave my mum a complimentary sliced cake with a candle on top. Nice touch. Surely will be back for special ocassions.
Beautiful hotel within walking distance of Canberra's main attractions. Comfy beds, great bar and good food in an elegant and picturesque building.
Stayed in the MacArthur suite after getting a free upgrade. The suite was easily worthy of a 5 star review in itself.
The bar in the hotel was fantastic and the drinks were fast and flowing.
The staff were all polite, friendly and quick to offer assistance at all times.
Pleasant staff and comfortable rooms but restaurant is a bit over priced for the quality of the meals
Thinking of hosting your next business function at Hyatt Canberra? Don't. Hyatt's event management staff are incredibly rude, inexperienced and very unprofessional.
We were served 90%+ watered wine that we were told was caused by storing the bottles opened, in an esky which raises multiple questions such as to why a 5-star hotel doesn't have adequate wine storage. And having a quick chat with one of the waitresses, it's clear that staff were agitated at management's lack of experience handling the unfolding situations.
Food was above average. Which is why I've rated this review 2 stars, not 1.
Bar staff at the Speakers Bar were rude, taking upwards of 15-minutes and multiple reminders to provide us with receipts, and even then, I was given the receipt from drinks ordered by another seperate party. Asking for standard spirits (Barcadia and diet coke) were served oddly; we were given the half-empty glass Coke bottles along side the drink. I asked multiple times for them to just keep the bottles, but they kept giving them with drinks.
Whole experience felt like a 2-star budget motel. We had issues with the function, at the Speaker's Bar and even organising taxis.
I had a quick chat with a separate older couple at the bar, and they agreed that the customer service was very poor.
I do not recommend Hyatt. 5-star hotel? Please.
Style and class right in the heart of Canberra! Perfect place to stay and not too pricey considering you get what you pay for in this world! Pay peanuts and expect monkeys
We loved it so much we got married here!!Refined art deco elegance. The staff were friendly, warm and professional. The hotel lobby, bar and lounge areas were so relaxing and luxurious. Our room was very spacious ... it was the size of a suite really - with garden views, was so quiet and had all the luxuries you would expect from a 5 star property. Full of old world charm with every modern convenience. The grounds and gardens were superb. A perfect short getaway from Melbourne.
The hotel is pretty much a classic. The lobby is clean upon entering and staff is helpful as well! Walking around the area, everything is kept clean as well. Would totally recommend for small events in here.
Olde worlde charm and history. Exquisite. No better place to stay in Canberra.
An elegant hotel! Quality room & attentive service. Good standard food. We've enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful old place with fantastic service & helpful staff. Walls are little thin, but once I upgraded to a different pillow I slept well ! Relax at bars or in a quiite lounge with a open fire. Bell Boys were a treat.
Nice old school hotel lots of character and charm. Rooms a little dated however Clean and comfortable.
The restaurant is in a lovely building. Food options were decent, salad choice being the highlight! However, a few extra hot dishes would have been appreciated, as well as a choice of fresh roast meat besides pork. All in all, a pleasant night out and would happily visit again.
Hold your nose up. It's a tad snobby! Great cup of tea and scones.
Lovey picturesque hotel. Good food. And the r9ms are enormous
Nice elegant and cosy environment to have a quiet drink or just a coffee and cake
The service was amazing, we went for the buffet breakfast and even though we would not normally be their clientele we were treated like royalty. Kate served us and was able to appropriately interact with the toddlers up to the grandparents
Don't get on having a great sleep
The air blasts cold then hot even though the temp is set on 21
Good facility for seminar. AV getting a bit dated though
Room Was great very generous service was very professional
Staff & Service is brilliant however the rooms have terrible sound issues as you can consistently hear water buzzing throughout is very annoying and especially becomes worse in the morning on the ambassador level not impressed at all !
A very classy experience for high tea, very good food and service.
I love the art deco interior. We got married here several years ago so we like to go here for coffee to celebrate special occasions. At around $6 for a coffee it's a bit more expensive than the usual cafe but imho the best coffee in Canberra and unbeatable environment. The staff are always terrific, and usually can find a table for us if we rock up out of the blue. Just be careful though, as at times they can be popular, especially during high tea.
A tired, sloppy hotel. Room request was ignored despite booking a month in advance, linen stained ... stopped staying here years ago unless compelled by work and suggest you try another of Canberra's better selection of hotels. Of course come for the High Tea in Art Deco if that's your thing. But then leave.
Product seems dated but service is great. Front Doorman uniform seems comical, could use a small update.
Vintage hotel, service is good the rooms are a bit dated however the decor is enjoyable
So many rooms and eating areas. I would like to have given it 6 stars, if I had the opportunity.
I was there for a conference. Friendly staff and good food. Some of the fixtures are dated and need looking at but maybe the accommodation is much better.
It was an amazing experience, and all the staffs were friendly and on point with service.
My prefered Hotel in Canberra and when you stay I am sure you will realise why...
Food, staff and stay was fantastic! Enjoyed my stay thoroughly.
