Great location and nice hotel! Bed and bathroom is clean and big ! Definitely recommend to check this place out!
Great location, way too few elevators with super long waits. Staff on check in counter is rude. Room is clean but beds not comfortable. The artwork in the bathroom was absolutely scary.
Classy and helpful staff. For the area very price efficient.
It was decent but can t get a hold of the front office.
Very overpriced. My closet is larger than there rooms. Staff however are very attentive
The gentleman at the check-in could not find my reservation, showed him my confirmation number said it was not one of theirs. He tried to dismiss me and thought id just go away. I explained the money had already come off my card. He then checked with a third party and they had booked under my first name.
After being out all day, my daughter and I stopped in the hotel store and brought 2 Fiji waters, 17.82!!! 2 waters, outrageous.
I booked a room for 3 adults, was given 1 king sized bed. Nothing went smoothly.
Also, the walls are extremely thin, if you have young children you may want to consider headphones or another hotel.
We packed our bags and left after we set our tv on the highest volume and still could not drown out the adults in the next room.
I ve stayed in New York many times, this was by far my worst experience, far better hotels!
Everything was great. Only complaint is that there were no refrigerators in the rooms.
i want to know why there is a facillity fee, (everybody say its taxes, but taxes was only a small percentage)the night before i leave, a letter under my door was left saying there was a debt of 250 dlls, i think you should disclosure why, More
Stayed at this hotel in 2002. Lovely location. Near Carnegie Hall. Not far from Central Park and Times Square. Opposite to a hotel that does great food. Enjoyed our stay here.
For the price and unable to find a single worker with a smile...id stay elsewhere.
We picked this hotel because it was iconic but definitely did not meet our expectations for cost of 350 a night plus 40 dollar a night resort fees. (we traveled Oct 7 to 12) I guess in peak season.
Look around for cost and definitely better service. Unfriendly place if you need any questions answered, even upon check out
(they gave us late checkout then keys didn't work... No one told us you need the reactivate keys on a late check out, twenty min elevator wait and all we got was a look). NOT IMPRESSIVE
My girlfriend and I stayed at Park Central Dec 16-18. We did a fair amount of research into hotels in the immediate area, and I have this to say: I am shocked by any negative reviews of this hotel. Our time at Park Central was perfectly pleasant from beginning to end. I'm not sure what people are expecting when they book a room in the heart of Manhattan, but my guess is that those giving poor marks haven't taken into consideration any of the following facts: 1) This is huge hotel. 900+ rooms from what I read. The concierge desk is not going to be able to chit chat with you because there is a constant flux of people coming in and out. They aren't being rude; they are trying to be efficient so that those behind you don't have to wait forever in line. 2) I saw some complaints on here about street noise. This is the Big Apple, folks. New York Frickin' City. The City That Never Sleeps. You chose to stay in the heart of the city, so, yes, you can expect to hear things going on in the streets below from inside the hotel. If it's such a annoyance, pay for the upgrade and stay on a higher floor. We were on 9, and the street noise was virtually nil, although I kind of enjoyed cracking the window in the morning and hearing the cars fly by because I'm reminded of all the activity going on around me. And I didn't hear a single bit of noise from adjacent floors or rooms. 3) Yes, the rooms are small, but you are paying for location, location, location, and I hope that you are planning to spend most of your time taking in the sights rather than sitting in front of the tv. Our room was very comfortable. Again, if you know what you are to expect in a city of New York's size, I don't think you will be let down at this hotel. We found the location and nearby amenities to be superb, the staff to be efficient and courteous, and the bed to be extraordinarily comfortable. Had our stay not been so great, I wouldn't have asked my girlfriend to marry me on this trip, but as it stands, I am now proudly engaged. And I love New York City.
Stayed for 5 days during Thanksgiving week. We loved the location. Close to the park and easy access to the subway. Great service from doorman David and bagcheck option was nice since we arrived at 8am. I would have liked to have an option for early check in or at least an offer to call me when the room is available. Came back at 3:35 to check in and was told I couldn't check in until 4. Hard to imagine a lot changed in that 25 minutes, except at 4 there were at least 10 other groups waiting in line to check in. Room was clean and as expected. Elevators were slow and often too full by the time they reached us on the 10th floor. Housekeeper (Dede, I think) was really sweet and hard working.
Terrible hotel. Super expensive, additional super expensive fees for which you get nothing. Not even a bottle of water a day in your room. Not worth what you pay. Staff is rude (I guess this is because it is New York). The only posite side is the location, but there are many other cheaper and better places in this place. Not recommended at all.
Room was clean, well organized. Big tv screen. A fitness center.
Great location, not so friendly staff...but all in all a mid level experience with nothing great but nothing horrendous.
The hotel is at a convenient location, however it has one of the worst in room amenities and customer service I ve ever experienced. Having stayed at dozens of hotels across five continents, I ve never experienced such carelessness and lack of respect for clients from all levels of hotel staff. None of the staff seemed to enjoy working there or genuinely wanted to help make the clients stay as enjoyable as possible. Soon after I arrived my room, I realized the phone doesn t work. So I went down to the lobby to let them know and to ask for some more hangers. Hours go by and nothing got done, so I was on my way down again when I ran into a housekeeping staff who was able to get someone to finally bring them to me. Then a bit later I had to go to the lobby again to ask for a kettle and some tea, because there were none available in the room, and no fridge to keep your beverages cold either. When I got there, the two customer relations representatives ignored me, and another staff member in a suit approached me and asked if I needed help, I said yes. So he called out one of the customer relations representatives by name and she responded WHAT? After I advised her again the phones are broken and I would like some tea for the room, they told me there s nothing they can do about the phone, and to go back to my room to wait for the tea. I waited several hours in my room after and nobody ever brought any tea. For the price that this hotel is, and the way it tries to appear to be a high end hotel, there is a lot left to be desired, in room/hallway upgrades (stains on bathroom floor & tub, door jams, keycard doesn t work 2/3 times, very slow elevators), cleanliness (there s a weird smell in the room), and most importantly, customer service skills.
Room was a bit small but nice enough, but they hide a massive fee (ours was $87) for amenities like the internet and luggage check that you may or may not use.
I have stayed at the Park Central Hotel numerous times, and have never had a negative experience there. The staff are friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the rooms are modern and clean. It is conveniently located in midtown Manhattan, A ten minute walk from Times Square, and about three blocks from Central Park. Also, if you are lucky, you may even get a room with a Times Square view! The hotel is located right beside the 57th Street subway stop, which has lines N, Q, R, and W. Many other lines are in a short walking distance as well. Carnegie Hall is DIRECTLY across the street and the hotel is right beside the famous Carnegie deli! Overall, it is the perfect hotel for a vacation to NYC, for newcomers, as well as Manhattan veterans! I always fly into Newark and take the Airtrain from Terminal B (Where porter airline always fly s into) to Terminal C where I get on the New Jersey transit, which takes us directly to Penn Station in NYC (about 25 minutes). The total cost of the Airtrain and New Jersey Transit is approximately $6.00. From Penn Station I usually opt for a Taxi to my hotel instead of the Subway simply due to my desire to not lug my suitcase around on the busy subway any longer. I always fly into Newark because it is significantly cheaper than flying into JFK or LaGuardia (At least from Toronto), although flying into those two would eliminate the extra steps getting into the city. The decision is up to you!
I hope this review was helpful!
I called over 6 times to talk to concierge for Airport transfer everytime i was transferred to a voicemail.
I explained 6 times that this is urgent but no one even had a courtesy to find someone on the phone.
I asked to talk to a supervisor and they had no Manager on duty!!!!
this property is definitely providing a 2 star service,no respect for people's time ,horrible customer service.
We have stayed here a few times now and truly love it,from service to great location then what's truly important the rooms, they are clean, comfortable and roomy...
room was as advertised, very clean and comfortable. only complaint is you need a key card for the lobby bathroom
Attentive & responsive staff. Clean rooms. Good location.
This hotel is in a great location, couldnt have been better!! The customer service is adequate and it is very clean. Very good value!
We booked a time square suite months in advance then when we got there they overbooked and tried giving us this small room that was too tight for our family. Then they ended up putting us in the westhouse hotel which is a whole other story
Amazing location, helpful but not very friendly staff. Nice cleaning service. Bad thing the fact they don't have any plug adaptor for Europe (even with caution/fee). Breakfast is a weak spot too. Rooms are spacious and nice, but you can hear everything going on the next rooms.
I had a great stay at the Park Central Hotel, the only reason I give 4 stars is because the rooms were suppose to come with queens beds but I stead had full sized ones.
Reasonable rates via hotwire - location is decent (couple blocks south of mid-central park) - worth the money when you're simply sleeping here. Proximal to subway. Avoid having the front-door staff arrange transportation for you - they wanted to summon a hotel car (total scam, it's clear that they are in cahoots with black-car types that just make up fares to the three airports. I told the doorman I was skipping the hotel car service and started hailing a cab - to which he blew his whistle and tried to shake down the first cabbie for five bucks. Please...
I suppose if you're wanting to "live it up" and travel in a black car, then go ahead - although yellow is how I prefer travelling, and there's no cab line here.
I was only stopping by a friend's room after dinner, but from what I saw, a very clean and well-appointed hotel. The bathroom was gorgeous.
they stole 300$ out of my account and never gave it back. I tried to get and explanation, fees yada yada, deposit yada yada.. Let me put you on hold..yada yada. Our manager is out to lunch... Try to call back and they blacklist your number and never answer again. Shady place man. Real shady! Views good
Great location, Staff was excellent! But like most NYC hotels the elevators were super slow! Be aware of the rush times it could take you 15-20 min to get one
Booked from India. Not additional cost shown. But at the time of check out, submitted bill for $82.0 for facilitation fee. Absolute scam. No facility was used. Feel cheated.
Terrible, incompetent service and a labyrinthine design of use to no one are immediately presented to customers. Only saving grace is location and comfortable beds.
Good hotel located in the center of all the tourist attractions. We actually hardly needed to use the subway, since everything was walking distance.
Clasic. We working on the repairs soon will be ready and beautiful again
Always beautiful, long lines at reception this past visit though.
Great hotel, perfect location. Would recommend this place, book online and choose the $1 breakfast - totally worth it
This hotel is extremely cheap. They charge a facilities fee for things most hotels include. It's in a good location but I can't get over how cheap it is. There's no room service which they made sure to tell us when we went down stairs to ask for a wine opener. On top of that... they turn the a/c off for the entire hotel when they deem that it's cool enough outside for everyone inside the hotel to open the windows. Bad customer service and cheap, this sums up the experience you will have.
Great Hotel, close to different touristic places and the subway. Please keep in mind that they will charge you 30 something bucks on top of the daily rate for services, which doesn't make much sense.
This hotel is located in Midtown, which is quite busy compared to other areas we have stayed such as the Upper West Side. With that being said, it is rather noisy, inside and out. Our room was at the elevator. Thus, we were privy to guests hallway conversations until about 3:00 am when things calmed down. The hotel was good enough to change rooms for us the next day and our second night was much more enjoyable. The hotel itself was nicely appointed and the staff professional. I'll probably not return mainly due to the location. However, if you like the busy Midtown atmosphere, this is probably a good place to stay.
Beautiful hotel and facilities. The location was absolute fantastic. Elizabeth was fantastic and extremely accommodating! Will be staying here every time I stay in the big apple!
Excellent location, right in the middle of it all- you can easily walk to Central Park and Times Square. Rooms are very comfortable and quiet.
A hotel with valet parking at an added cost! It should be one of the services included when you stay here. But yes, they charge another fee for that. If you don't want to pay additional fee for valet parking, they would tell you to just go and park somewhere else. What an attitude!
A good Hotel within easy reach of the subway, Central Park, Time Square & all things New York city!!!
The rooms are rather large for new York, and are very nicely furnished with modern furniture and super comfortable beds. The hotel is also placed in a very central location by 5th avenue and times square, which is very convenient for tourists.
Most of the rooms are completely different. Mine has a bathtub while my friends room does not. My room does not have a computer desk while my friends does. Has a great fitness center for cardio and minor dungbell weight lifting. All the cardio have tvs on the but the tvs cut in and out mostly in though. Nice drink station with plastic cups and towels avaliable. Staff semi rude compared to someone use to midwest temperment.
The Hotel centrally located in Midtown and has large nice clean rooms. The WiFi was easy to use and worked well on up to 5 devices. Downstairs they also have a good bar slash working area with plenty of room. Some of the plugs don't work in the electrical outlets down there, however I was able to make do and it was a good experience overall. The hotel in the morning, I did not see a restaurant while I was there. But you're also in Midtown so there's a lot of choices and options just around the corner.
The hotel is under renovation , No Gym they will give you a ticket for an outside gym to go to. No Resturant for breakfast! Only good location, the hotel is overused
Plus No Refrigerator or coffee/ Tea !!
Giving just a one star because of the Parking Facility available over here. It is more or less not of any use. It's so difficult to park in your vehicle at this Place. I was frustrated when I went over there with a Vehicle. The Parking attendants didn't behaved generously.
It was a bad bad Experience at the Parking Slot.
First time in NYC, wonderful time for my BF and I. Hotel was comfy, clean and cute. We very much enjoyed our time there! Friendly staff topped it off!
I booked this hotel for a week stay in New York and to be completely frank and honest I m surprised why this is a 4 star hotel. We checked in late at night and the lady at check in was extremely abrupt and rude. She never explained anything she was doing and appeared very disinterested. The hotel room was not the cleanest. We found a used old make up brush under one of the chairs which seemed like it had been there a very long time. They never refilled soap in the bathroom and the bathroom never appeared like it had been cleaned. We had a very negative run in with one member of the housekeeping staff. One morning the knocking started at 9am for housekeeping-we requested her to come back in the afternoon but instead she persisted repeatedly until we felt forced out of the room. When we did leave the room we realised we had left our metro cards so went back to get them to the housekeepers distaste, when I asked if I could just pop in to get my cards, she ignored me and then I asked again and at this point she responded well go in then! Very angrily. I was extremely upset by this as I felt there was no need to be so rude or disrespectful as she had not even begun cleaning and I was in and out for one second. I then went downstairs to the concierge desk to ask why the housekeeping lady appeared so angry. The lady at concierge seemed so uninterested like I was wasting her time. This exchange ruined my entire day as I was off mood, glad it happened towards the end of our otherwise pleasant stay in New York.
Overall the service in this hotel was appalling especially for the money spent. I have travelled a fair bit in my life and this is by far the worst 4 star service I have had, let down by a few individuals especially. The only positive was the location but to be honest after the service received I would forgo the location in future and go elsewhere.
Comfortable room in a spectacular location. Staff were incredibly polite and willing to accommodate all my needs.
2012: Union hotel so the door men were very rude. Beds were super short, my feet hung over the edge about 10 inches. Rooms were very small and loud, motif was waaaaay outdated. Will never stay there again.
2019:
My work booked me here again, and still 1 star
First the pros:
It was clean, and the cleaning staff was nice. Close to central park.
Cons: windows and doors are thin. Even on the 14th floor, sound echoed from 56 and 7th the entire night. Weekends, forget about it, it was a nightmare. The older man that checked me in had no personality and it was clear he couldn't give a darn about anyone.
The gym was a joke.
There's no free breakfast, not even coffee or water in the lobby.
If I had to do it again, I'd go back to the residence inn 2 blocks away.
No real complaints. Elevators were a little slow, but the staff were welcoming and we had no issues dropping off luggage or with the room. Enjoyed my stay and the location was superb.
Our stay was fantastic! The room was excellent and turn back service every day. The rooms were clean and immaculate. Q, the manager for our stay, did a wonderful job and even helped when our shower wasn t working to get us a bigger room for the final part of our stay. I d recommend Park Central Hotel to anyone wanting to be close to the center of Manhattan near Times Square, Central Park and Rockefeller Center!
a very modern hotel in a 1920's style with a sophisticated business center, has a nice cafe & lots of conference room space.
Fabulous and spacious rooms with extra comfy beds and large bathrooms. Perfect heating, good tv channels and close locatioj to all NY has to offer. The only thing missing is the mini bar, kettle with tea and coffee options as well as some basic bathroom toiletries.
We got in late and the check-in was the worst part. they didnt have the room with a view available like we had reserved. But, they got us another room that was bigger and compensated us for the issues. Will stay here again in the near future. Rooms were nice and the location is great.
Beware. Lots of hidden fees that you will only discover once you are hooked. Few days before our stay they were good at sending advertising email but didn't bother to inform us that there was only ONE elevator for the whole hotel. We had to wait around 5 minutes every time we need an elevator and most of the time it will be packed. One star only for the location.
I see everyone has a common problem with the elevators, they were very small and very long wait. It was very clean. Housekeeping was very nice. The pillows were extremely comfortable, like pillows from home.
reasonable affordable compared to other NYC hotels, great location, very comfortable beds
Very happy with my stay. Great location near central Park, and subway stations!
Awesome place. Great place in the middle of Manhattan with friendly and professional staff. All amenities in and around. Very tidy and comfortable place.
Nice, sleek, and modern rooms within walking distance of times square and central park. Good service with friendly concierge staff.
Beautiful big and roomy. Quick check in and friendly staff. Elevators are a bit small but otherwise great hotel with city views
Walked into lobby and knew I was not going to be happy. Dated and crappy. Booked here, based on a recommendation.
The hotel's website makes it look great. Reality is much different.
Fabulous location and amenities, but is brought down to earth by musty guest rooms and slow elevators. On the plus side, the WiFi is free and fast.
Phones always busy. Called over 40 times and still no answer. It's like Kingsland ran by kids and no work.
brilliant hotel, lovely staff, good rooms, amazing location, clean and tidy, highly recomended.
Park central Hotel is a very nice place and has a pleasant staff and i enjoyed being there
I really do love this place. But once again, I forgot that they DON'T allow for your to play your computer via HDMI on their TV's. That will certainly affect my future decisions to stay here. I don't like being forced to watch what's on live TV. Sure had hoped they had changed this policy. Otherwise, I'm in love with the place.
What can I say? Great if you're looking for a budget hotel without basic extras most hotels offer.
Elevators will bottleneck people. Expect lengthy wait times. 1 pair (goes to floors 1-3) and the other pair of elevators goes 4-top (20+). Other than that, the hotel is beautiful, rooms are adequate, and everything you can imagine is within walking distance. Would recommend.
Guess what? A homeless staying the night in the hallway next to our room, we paid $200 per night. See the picture
Not clean, very unsafe, old furniture. I regret that I booked in this hotel.
Don t ever think to consider it for staying in.
Please look for something better than this place
Would Not recommand ...We check out and needed to store our bags the hotel referred us to Fancy Apple right next door...Poor service...it left a sour taste especially for our last day in town
Beautiful hotel. Friendly staff. Need to post clearer address on their website. A little hard to find.
The location is very convenient, it's not too far from anything in the city. The rooms look updated and clean.
Everything was really good, room clean, nice beds and furnishings? HOWEVER, we didn't have drawers for our clothes and the bath drain was broken
Great spot if you want to hit the midtown attractions (times square, broadway, restaurant row, diamond district, Rockefeller, columbus circle, central park etc). Had a billing mixup but I contacted the staff and they were able to clear it up for me. Would stay again, thanks guys.
We visit New York numerous times a year, and normally stay at The New York Palace. I liked how close you guys were to Central Park so I decided to give it a try. The website claims to be a 4 start however, based on my experience this is not accurate and below are a few reasons why...
1. First impression is everything. As soon as our Taxi arrived at the front, we were never greeted, offered help with our bags, or even had a door open for us.
2. Checking in. We walked up to a counter with 2-3 people at one computer (when I could see at least 5) assuming one could help us. A dark haired woman never once said Hi, Welcome, etc but instead the first thing anyone said to us at The Park Central was "The line starts back there." The other two never even looked up at us. We were the only ones in line at the time, also. 3 people were checking in one guest, and no one could offer help, or the slightest customer service?
4. While we waited until 4pm to check in, we went to the bakery section you guys offer. When my husband asked the woman "having a good day?" she LITERALLY said, "No I am working, so no." Insane to me.
I see most of the reviews are complaints regarding the facility fee, which I knew about prior to booking however, after my experience, I too see is unfair now. We paid $228.50 per/night for our honeymoon to be treated like we were a burden. I even vocalized my frustration regarding our experience after waiting hours to get a fridge, and having no air conditioning in the bedroom, and it was never addressed. Again, this was our honeymoon, and I have never felt so unwelcomed by a hotel before. It was not the best choice for a honeymoon at all. I waited to leave reviews on other sites thinking surely someone will contact me.
A 4 start hotel should have at least bottled water, a mini fridge, coffee pot of some sort, robes, or room service. Especially with the customer service department lacking so much.
