Was told when I checked in at 16:30 my room wasn't ready so was delayed getting in. Once in, a maid let herself into the room before I had chance to answer the door to check the water. The room was very tired, not as pictured one of the better rooms pictured on the website. No hot water on the evening of my stay which was less than ideal given I'd used the onsite gym and needed a shower. This meant I didn't feel comfortable going downstairs for dinner and instead had to order room service. I phoned the desk 3 times for updates and kept being told the hot water was now working, it wasn't. Hot water was back on when I woke up, thank goodness as I had important meetings that day. At breakfast I waited 15 mins for poached eggs. Wasn't asked how my stay was on check out, I guess they knew what was coming if they did. This was a work trip so had it been my hard earned cash paying for it I would have complained more. I colleague recently stayed here and also said he had no hot water. I will ask my office not to book anymore stays here.

Room was dirty, covered in cobwebs, breakfast was cold, no one ever came into clean our room and the food was way over priced for the tiny portion, phone in the room didn't work, and we paid for a deluxe room? Won't ever be coming back and wouldn't recommend

Staff very helpful and very friendly. Great place to meet friends. Great coffee served here. Lovely food served here and a great atmosphere here. There's an underground car park at the hotel in addition to the Overground car park. Be prepared to get courses a different way around. They cater for weddings at the hotel. There's a leisure centre in the hotel.

Fab hotel. We stayed in the Tobin rooms. Really plush and well worth paying for the upgrade. Perfect for a relaxing weekend. Bar food was tasty but have to deduct a star because the bar was cold. Definitely looking forward to a return trip!

I really tried to see the best in this hotel but there was just one problem after another. Firstly on check-in my impressions weren't great as this 'child' friendly' hotel proved to be the opposite in that the receptionist barely engaged with my eager and excited child who was trying to talk with her. Next up, we go to the room and as noted by others, the rooms are well dated and grubby. Lots of stained and frayed carpets and a toilet that doesn't work properly. The following morning we pop down for breakfast and i filter through the first 3-4 plates and bowls to find one that is clean and take my seat at the breakfast table and stir my tea with a dessert spoon as no one set out teas spoons anywhere (this happened twice).

Now whatever about the above little things, we checked in and stayed on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Baring in mind this is pitched as a family break destination, we ended up there at the same time as two weddings. Despite being on the top floor (second floor), I could sing along with the wedding music as we were positioned over the function room (room 321). While it's a lovely spacious room for a family, the noise level at night is unacceptable for someone travelling for a family break. I flagged this with reception on both Saturday and Sunday morning and got nothing more than a, 'we're sorry'. No option or offer to move to a more suitable room. My wife joined myself and the kids on the Saturday and had to sit up with headphone watching Netflix on the Saturday until the music stopped at the wedding as she couldn't sleep with the noise.

Maybe, just maybe, we were unlucky but on the Sunday the kids went to the kids club, which was great entertainment for them. My wife an I went to the bar for the package dinner and there was a heavily intoxicated man with no boundaries at the bar. He badgered us and got way too close for comfort. I must add here I was previously a bar man so drunk people don't bother me, this guy was way over the top and making guests uncomfortable and begging for money. While we were clearly uncomfortable as he got way too close to my wife and made her feel uncomfortable I sought the attention of the bar staff and manager patrolling the bar. The young bar staff avoided eye contact and were giggling about the scene unfolding and the bar manager just walked by and avoided making eye contact and having to intervene. I did not want to deal with this myself and risk being in a confrontation with this man and didn't feel I should have to. I eventually had to tell the man to leave us and was unsurprisingly met with a hostile and confrontational response from him. A lovely young waitress eventually came and gave us a table for two away from him where we could sit in peace. Some 30 minutes later another manager came and had to intervene and kick this gentleman out. Too late to intervene on our behalf though and it left me with a poor impression of how guests are minded and provided with a positive environment in the hotel.

Hotels can become dated and you can overlook that as maintenance or fresh painting can solve that problem. However lacking an appropriate response to families being disturbed late at night and couples being harassed and made feel uncomfortable while using your bar service is a larger scale issue for me. I found the hotel staff largely unresponsive in terms of addressing and solving problems to make our stay more comfortable and enjoyable. I give the place 2 stars for it's potential and because despite all of the above we had a great time touring around Cork. There is more examples of poor service I could add to this review about our stay, but I'll save that for any managers who might read this and want to hear some more constructive feedback on a guests experience of the hotel.

** In response to the owners reply, I have emailed your hotel email address with my contact details. Feel free to get in touch.**

Very nice room but it was hard to sleep as it had an ajoining door and I could heat the tv in the other room
So make sure you get a room that does not have an ajoining door

The staff are extremely friendly

We travelled there for a wedding, the hotel was fantastic. The double room we stayed in was large and spotlessly clean. The staff were brilliant no request was a bother to them. The wedding itself was brilliant, so well organised with Lauren in charge of proceedings for the day. We definitely hope to stay here again in the near future

Expensive enough but OK. Renovation work going on with toilets. Fair wait for food. And a few people moaned at drink prices think 7 for a wine. Luckily for me I was driving and on squash.

If staying in cork you have to stay here ! A beautiful hotel, luxurious rooms that you just won't want to leave ! The food here is mouth watering and the breakfast filled me for the day. A lovely leisure centre for you to use as well. Last but not least the most friendliest and helpful staff I've ever come across

The staff is friendly and the fitness area (reason for my visits) it's well equipped and clean. The bathroom / shower's area was renewed a few months ago, all-in-all it's a good place to visit. Picking on to what could be good to improve, I would say that the shower cap's faucets are fixed to the wall really high up making the showering part of the visit very combersome for children or short people adding unnecessary extra time to the visit.

Mmmm breakfast on a Sunday. Not great someone needs to tell staff heat the teapot before you make the tea. Waiting ages for food. Dont mind that because dinning room very busy. When the food came Obviously it was waiting under heat a long time for a waitress to pick up. All dried up. Disappointing. As locals we could go every wk. But no they lost us now.
