We were there for a wedding lovely hotel great food but our room let it down a hole in the wall, toilet only flushed now and then and the bedside light hanging off the wall not great for a hotel who concider themselves a 4 star

I've been to all fancy weddings in 5 star hotels but I prefer The Oriel and love the food and atmosphere here, fish and beef are just top notch with big portions, very good catering staff too.

We had a one night stay at the Oriel House Hotel. All in all the experience was satisfactory. We experienced quite bit of a delay with room service (both to order the food and to receive our order) but the manager on duty during our checkout, Lauren, was gracious enough to waive off the bill when we brought up the situation. We had forgiven the situation in any case because the food, both the room service and breakfast, is great! There was a also a slight lack of attention to cleanliness. There were items in the room that didn't seem to have been dusted often enough and the plates and tables at breakfast weren't sufficiently clean.

All in all I recommend this hotel if your only objective is to spend one night and have a good meal while you are at it. The management is polite and accommodating and quick to address any complaints. Overall however there's a lot of room for improvement.

Very very nice hotel! Visited with a tour group and this was a luxury stop for us! Very nice room with an excellent breakfast. Very beautiful and clean rooms with Air Conditioning which was great for us! Highly recommend this gem!!

Family friendly hotel, nice pool and gym facilities and good location to restaurants, shops and the huge regional park!
Family room was very spacious although only had king-size and queen size bed... further pullout bed could be requested for family of four. Room was clean upon arrival however daily cleaning was very poor (floor not even vacuumed for the 5 days we stayed) and expected more especially in the current climate.
Breakfast was very good albeit felt a bit chaotic. Selection of fresh fruit, pastries, wheaton bread and cereal available to lift yourself and cooked breakfast orders were taken. Food arrived fast and was very tasty.
Swimming pool has to be booked and you have a 45 minute session, which was perfect for me with small kids.
We didn't eat in the restaurant as prices seemed over inflated compared to the restaurants within walking distance.
We had booked day at Fota Wildlife park and hotel provided us with a picnic which was a lovely touch!
Overall the hotel is good and staff excellent.

Staff are great. Nice big rooms. This hotel has a spectacular pool with several areas to to depending on what you want to do. Parking area could be bigger. Easy route into town. But. The shower is too hot. I like a cool shower.

Stayed here on Friday 17th and Saturday 25th of June for weddings the nicest friendliest staff rooms were lovely on both occasions and the food gorgeous only fault I could point out is ye ran out of Heineken bottles on the 25th and this is the only thing I drink there was none in either the bar or function room but other than that outstanding stay on both occasions would highly recommend this hotel and the staff

Great hotel, paid 399 for 3 nights for 2 adults and 2 kids. This included breakfast and one 3 course evening meal for the 4 of us. It also included free entry to Fota wildlife park. The hotel also gave us a picnic to take with us to fota which was a nice touch. I wasn't gone on the breakfast but the evening food was delicious and well presented. The staff are very helpful and are always busy. The pool area is big and well run. Very suitable for family break away. We really enjoyed our stay here

Checkin and checkout both smooth, and overall service is friendly.
Hotel busy with families/children.
Room itself wholly disappointing and not like photos. My room was overlooking a roof and the windows of other rooms. Bed was two singles pushed together with uncomfortable pillows and sheets that came untucked showing a yellowing mattress. Room was equipped with a broken kettle, plastic-smelling shampoo/conditioner/shower gel, for two people there was only one beside lamp and one main room light. The bathroom floor was not clean, and the tap water undrinkable.
The dinner was the highlight. Rapid room service and mostly fantastic food, justifying the 2 stars. The breakfast was OK, saving grace the friendly and polite service (and the made to order crepes).

Just left the Oriel House having waiting 15-20 minutes to be acknowledged by any of the staff.... Don't even think they noticed us leaving. My partner and I were looking forward to having a nice meal in the main bar to celebrate our anniversary. We decided to leave the Oriel and travel to a premises which valued our business. Won't be heading back here in a hurry

My husband and I enjoyed a very enjoyable overnight stay in the Oriel House Hotel. Rooms were spacious and clean. We dined in the bar, social distancing was adhered to, all staff wore masks, food was excellent and atmosphere was relaxed, despite all these new restrictions. We felt safe. Did not try out leisure centre, but hope to do so in better times. Breakfast was excellent in scenic setting. Many thanks to staff of Oriel.

Someone told me this was a 4 Star hotel. That is a joke. I would say more like 2. Hotel is pretty shabby and clearly renovated on a low budget. Bar staff kept putting lemon in my whiskey. Food at wedding was awful. Rooms were overheated and wifi was unusable. Everyone complained about food quality at breakfast too. Leisure center is excellent though. I would absolutely avoid this hotel until it gets its act together.

My friend had a wedding here and the wedding in itself was fantastic but the service and organisation from the staff was poor.
Please let me note food was fantastic. Absolutely unbelievable.
But that was about it.
Bride and groom were sometimes left with long waits for service when they should have been priority.
Room we were in was a sauna and air con was not working.
Agreed items as per contract for the wedding were changed without asking the bride or groom. Such as paid stays for fathers and mothers of bride and groom for suites to basic rooms.
Agreed late bar 1 day prior to the event being changed to finishing early without telling anyone especially bride and groom.
We found out at 10pm.

Absolutely disgraceful.
I would certainly not recommend this hotel.
Bride and groom are looking for money back for such a pitiful organised event which was meant to be their special day

Disappointing!!! Booked a romantic package from their website for my birthday.
The room was freezing. The toilet didn't flush. The TV didn't work. The fridge didn't work.
They didn't know that a bottle of bubley was included. The 4 course dinner didn't exist.
Not. Great choice on dinner for vegetarians. For breakfast they did have a vegetarian cooked breakfast that we were surprised about. But just generally not a great experience. It was sad because we actually went there with the intention of booking it for our wedding, but now absolutely not. I was really disappointed

Lady at check in was great. Room was spacious and clean. Had dinner included with booking which was in Bar and Bistro. The experience we had at dinner actually ruined the whole stay. My partner, my 2 year old child and I were warmly greeted at the time we had our dinner approx 7pm. Our order was promptly taken and our starters were served in super quick time. This is where the good service ends. We had to wait a little longer than expected to have starters cleared and the mains served. At this stage I my 2yo was getting a little frustrated. I could hear from the other tables that people were getting frustrated between wait times and the staffs lack of knowledge in regards to some dietary requirements and how menu could be altered someone's needs. While we had our mains the atmosphere in the restaurant was getting very hostile and uncomfortable. Eventually after approx 45mins our mains were cleared by someone who hadn't dealt with us to this point. We then proceeded to wait approx another 40mins for our desert before I had to go out to the Bar and ask what was going on. I was met with an apology and about 5mins later we were served our desert. As I was looking around I could see servers constantly come in and with drinks/food not having an idea where they were going. At one stage I seen a server bring 3 starters out, done a lap of the restaurant only to return back to the kitchen with the starters and come back out with 3 deserts. The table next to us had to also go out to the bar to ask for their mains after waiting approx an hour. While at the bar paying for my drinks, a lady at the table nearest the bar freaked out about how long her family had been waiting for their food. This was at 9:30pm. The whole dinner experience ended up being the talking point of the night and most of the next day. Breakfast following morning was perfect, but I can only give 1 start due my over all feeling of the place because of the dining experience that evening. This was also a normal Monday evening so it was by no means overly busy.

Really lovely experience, rooms were spotless, spacious and very comfortable. Wonderful breakfast and dinner. Staff went above and beyond to make sure our requests were honoured. Both Caoimhe and Jamie in the bar were very accommodating and and friendly servers who helped make our stay that bit more comfortable
