I really enjoyed my stay with my partner at this hotel. Stylish, well-situated, knowledgeable and engaged staff (truly the highlights of our experience), and a lovely bar and art gallery on site. My only complaint, unfortunately, would be that our room was pretty noisy. We were located beside the elevator and for that reason we were disturbed throughout the night. We were able to get a decent night s sleep, but I would not recommend that room for light sleepers! We will definitely stay here again the next time we re in town.

Never been to New Orleans before but Hubby & I planned a trip for our 9 yr anniversary and we normally try to aim for the laid back, vintagey shic? Hotels. And The Old No. 77 is perfect! The beds are super comfortable, the hotel definitely gives you a NOLA vibe without being boujee. The staff has been very helpful and it's close enough to The French Quarter but not so close which is good for us cause we didn't come to party. We are on day two of our five day stay and LOVING it.

I fell in love with this place immediately! Friendly, welcoming, attentive staff. Beautiful, interesting decor. So charming. The restaurant associated was also phenomenal, with excellent service and food. The room was cozy and clean with a nice view, the Honor Bar was stocked with great items, and the bed was very comfortable. Coffee seemed available at all hours, and there were great options for room service. It was also so close (in walking distance) to everywhere we needed to be, and because of its location, we discovered places that made our stay even better than anticipated! We will be booking all our future stays in New Orleans here.

Stayed last week for NCTMNOLA. The staff was friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was good. I might not stay there again if I had early morning meetings each day as it sits right across the street from a bar and it was a little noisy for me to get to sleep and stay asleep.

Problems:
Dirty bathroom
Sunken bed
Broken iron
Broken ironing board
Door that wouldn't shut

Pro:
Walking distance to Bourbon Street

I didn't feel clean in this place after I showered.

This is an old, classic hotel remodeled and modernized into a new, sleek style. The rooms are comfortable and spacious; the age of the building shows, if that's your fancy. If you're expecting a totally modern hotel like your Hiltons & Sheratons, this isn't that kind of hotel. There is a great revolving art collection, the ambience of the place is great, and the location isn't bad, being pretty close to the heart of the French Quarter. Where it loses a star though is the lack of many valet drivers -- only one or two during most times -- so they should seriously hire more valet drivers if they mean to be a real full-service hotel, and the lack of complimentary buffet. So all in all, if you just need a pitstop, you can't go wrong here.

If you love the industrial lofty type you will LOVE this hotel! It has a walk score of 8 1/2. It is in the middle and walking distance from the cruise port, Harrah's hotel and casino, Museums, the French quarter and canal street! Mother's restaurant, Mulates and I'd course the casino ..?? Love it this is our go to from now on when in THE BIG EASY! MARY...YOU ARE THE GREASTEST!

The only star is for the doormen. They are so polite that if it wasn't for them, this place would get no stars. When you check into a hotel, you think you would feel welcome but it's the complete opposite. Check in very rude and heaven forbid you need to ask someone something at the front desk. Did not get the room I originally booked even though upgrade was confirmed via email prior to arrival. Room needed cleaning because the floor was visibly dirty and hadn't been mopped, hair in bathtub. Called to request that from front desk and got a "lemme call you back". No response and went down to the front desk and he was scrolling his Facebook. Glad to know it was something more important.
Around midnight I go down to ask for a cup of hot water (with my own cup) and front desk said she couldn't help me. EVEN THOUGH I'm staring at the hot water button on the espresso machine within eyesight, she didn't want to walk the 5 feet to do so. They tell you if you don't ask for turndown service you get credit towards the mini bar, however, they DON'T tell you that you have to put a special sign on the door for that to be granted (different than the do not disturb). Paid for resort fees when I booked but there are more mandatory fees so expect them.

We came to visit NOLA for a day and came back to the Old No. 77 for a second time because the hotel is extremely nice and a staff that will go above and beyond for you. However, little did we know that it is by far the best dog friendly hotel we have ever stayed!! They are so accommodating, they give you a bowl, a bed, and all kinds of information about pampering your dog!!

Hotel well located, sought-after style.

The hotel rooms were dirty & the front desk staff was very unkind. I had called to modify a reservation and it was not done successfully, causing me to show up and no room was a available for me upon my arrival. Instead of assisting me to find additional arrangement the front desk just said "sorry". Yes I should have requested a confirmation email or # at the time of the modification. They had my original reservation, but not the modified one.
The room was also dirty. If you have a hotel it is prolabably for the best not to have a black shower; you know with all the soap scum etc.
The only reason I am giving 3 stars instead of 2 is because the valet were extremely professional and kind. Melvin was great!!!

For our stay at the old no. 77 we experienced an exceptional staff, a beautiful hotel room and true southern hospitality like no other! We celebrated our 3 year anniversary and our recent engagement which Martha at the front desk helped make even more special with her kindness, professionalism and all around positve energy. Randy, another employee at the hotel was also super helpful in whatever we needed during our trip. He never made us feel like we were asking for too much. We sincerely thank the old no. 77 hotel and their staff for all they did for us. They did their best to make us feel safe and gave us a sense of normalcy during these covid times. Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to New Orleans. Perfect location, beautifully decorated, Let The Good Times Roll!!!

Went there for the Janet Jackson concert on 9/30/15. The place was beautiful! Great service at the front desk and the room was immaculate! Hard wood floors, exposed brick, and the fine details of the decor in our room made the evening even more special! Great vibe and smiles from all who worked there. I'll definitely return soon! Only hitch: we had a room facing the alley and it was trash day @ 4 a.m. the following morning...nothing the hotel could do, but if you are sensitive to loud noise very early, ask to be moved.

By far one of the best hotels I've stayed in. Beautiful articticature with exposed brick. Spacious and comfortable rooms. Valet parking avalible. Friendly and helpful staff with a great knowledge of local ongoings. Located within walking distance to both French quarter and business district. Fine dinning restaurant located in the hotel with room service avaliable. Treat yourself and book your New Orleans stay at this hotel!

We stayed at the Ambassador hotel Monday January 2...

We stayed at the Ambassador hotel Monday January 20th to Thursday January 23rd. We had a similar experience to the previous review and agree that we will never stay there again and recommend no one else makes the same mistake. We were so outraged by our experience that we purchased a timeshare to ensure our future vacations will have a better quality to them.

We drove to New Orleans and were unexpectedly extremely early. Understandably we were unable to check in to the hotel at 8am so we used the valet services to store our luggage and car. The unfriendly woman at the front desk told us that the rooms would be ready at 2pm. After walking around for hours we made our way back to the hotel around 1pm with the idea that there had to be at least one available room if check out was at 11am and check in was at 2pm. To our astonishment the same front desk woman was unable to find an available room. We asked if there was a place we could wait and she told us the conference room. For over two hours we napped sitting up and/or hunched over on the conference room tables. Oh and that same conference room hosts the worst continental breakfast I ve ever experienced.

Finally after a shift change we asked the front desk for our room. She was the only friendly, helpful and kind person who helped us for the entire stay, except for Russel the valet. Every time we walked in and out of that hotel she looked at us with a smile on her face and said something nice. Unfortunately I cannot remember her name, a young black female. I also think that part of the rude treatment we received was because we are an interracial couple which made me feel extremely uncomfortable.

When we opened the door to our room our hearts sank as well. We entered into a dungeon, Room 185, with the tiniest window with a view of three brick walls. We found an ice bucket full of last night s beverages then food and candy wrappers on the floor. We decided to make due after an exhausting day and spent the night. After napping on an uncomfortable bed with cheap linens we took showers and noticed hair all over its walls and the under the sink s counter. Later on that evening we told the friendly front desk woman that the room was unacceptable and would be asking for a room change the following morning. She said not a problem.

The next morning we were moved to a better room that resembled the websites pictures but yet still lacked in cleanliness and needed repair. The funny thing was that the unfriendly female who couldn t find us a room for hours the day before was now giving us a Trip Advisor business card with her name on it to review the hotel. Really Lady, after yesterday you want us to praise your lack of hospitality, I think not. The only positive thing I can say about the Ambassador is that it s in a good location, close to Harrah s and the French Quarter.

NO STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But the site made me provide this rating of one star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stayed at this hotel for one night Aug 11th. The valet was very rude from the moment we pulled up. He didn't want to help and basically ignored us. When asked for assistnce he gave us a look as if we didn't matter and continued his rapping out loud! On our way in for the evening he was asked to park our car, which he ignored. My friend asked again and tossed him the keys. Early the next morng we found that our car was damaged and tail light was broken. We reported this and it was documented by the management. Two moths later, I'm still waiting for my car to be fixed and know I'm being told that they will only pay for 50% of the total cost for repair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay away from this place!!!!!!!!!!!! They do not take ownership for their poor performing employees. I will never stay at this place again. Ruined a good vacation and I'm still having to pay for it!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent location and fantastic atmosphere. If you respect art in all its forms you will enjoy this old converted warehouse that is now the hotel. The foyer is huge and the rooms have a lovely feel To them with the bathroom being clean spacious and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud.

Charming. Reminds "4 rooms" movie (especially, elevators with buttons looking quite used), but inside the room is really nice - with loft/vintage style furniture, real wood floors, brick walls.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Old. No 77 but there were a few things that could have been better. Firstly, I always check the mattress when arriving. When I did, there was dark hair covering the mattress pad. It looked like a mix of a woman's hair from her head and dog hair. Regardless, it wasn't a pleasant site to be greeted with. I asked for the sheets to be changed and pulled them up so that whoever did so could see the hair. When I returned to my room, only some of the hair was removed. Secondly, the refrigerator was not working as it wasn't even plugged in, and couldn't be. The outlet was torn out of the wall. Lastly, I tried to sleep in a couple mornings and was bothered twice by housekeeping knocking though the do not disturb sign was hung. While the atmosphere and decor was nice, I would prefer to stay somewhere with a more low key restaurant on-site so that I could grab a bite before venturing out.

Pros: the staff was really the high point of this hotel for me--they were lovely and helpful regarding everything from restaurant recs to bag storage. Also, the decor is funky and interesting, and my bed was extremely comfortable. It's also worth mentioning that the location is stellar.

Cons: there was a total lack of soundproofing that meant I could hear everything all of my neighbors were doing even if they were tiptoeing. Luckily, I had relatively sedate neighbors and living in Brooklyn has made me pretty impervious to moderate amounts of noise. My colleague on the other hand was kept up all night by her raucous neighbors. Once again, the staff downstairs was as helpful as they could be (they weren't able to move her but they did provide her with earplugs when asking the couple to be quiet didn't work). In terms of room layout, my window faced a brick wall that was so close I could reach out and touch it, and it didn't admit any light at all. I think it was mostly there for decoration.

As much as I really enjoyed the staff and the vibe I wouldn't stay here again until they sort out the noise control.

Great price. They were undergoing renovations in the lobby while I was there, but that didn't impact me negatively. I was attending a conference at the convention center and the location was very accommodating of my desire to walk back and forth easily.

My stay at 77 was great. It's very close to the popular Nola attractions. You can walk out the door in any direction and find something to do. I walked everywhere from 77 but that's my usual means of getting around when I'm home. The hotel was quiet and is a great place to retreat to after a long day of being around tourist all day. The staff are very professional, accommodating and really friendly. The hotel is decorated well and very clean. I definitely recommend staying at 77 if you're considering it.

Overall our stay was fine. We liked our room, it was clean and the decor was more interesting than most hotels. When we arrived we had to wait quite a long time to check in, we did arrive before 4 though so I understand why. But we had hoped to get into the room early as my wife wasn t feeling well and it was her birthday. The worst thing was the parking, which is expensive in New Orleans. When we arrived there was a parking lot across the road so I went to check how much it was and as it was only $7 cheaper I thought we may as well use the valet as it ll be more secure than this open lot. It turns out the hotel use that lot, I didn t know this until we picked up the car and watched it being driven from across the road, so it wasn t anymore secure. The bill for the parking then came through on my credit card and with all the extra taxes and fees it ended up being $52.70. (They advertise the parking as $42). So in the end I should ve parked across the street myself and had the car in the same place for $20 less.

Love this place and stay here every time I'm in NOLA. You can stay in a big box hotel in Cleveland or Hartford...but when you come to NOLA, please stay in a local joint. Great vibe, great ambiance. You won't be disappointed.

As in a previous review, do not stay here if you are a light sleeper. The ac units only cool to 70 degrees so if you like it cold its not the place to stay. One plus is there was a nice high output ceiling fan in my premium king room, not usually found in hotels. Atmosphere was excellent, bar was excellent, and restaurant was excellent. Staff was excellent. I left my ipad in the room and houskeeping turned it in. Zack at front desk called me to tell me I left it. Overall a good place to stay but I am a light sleeper and staying at a quiet hotel is number 1 on my list.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT stay in this hotel. You really get much less than you paid for... This place is a DUMP. Filthy hallways, our bathroom was falling apart with a broken counters that could hurt a child. Don't bother calling the front dress, no one will answer the phone. We got a deal through Groupon and had to rebook at another place the next day. We are NOT fancy people, but this hotel is appalling and the website claim misleading.

I really wanted to like this place because the staff is friendly, prices are reasonable, location is great and the rooms are well done. But I got very little sleep due to people in the room above me walking on the ridiculously creaky floor. And my mattress was worn out, saggy, and uneven.

Awesome design and decor! Definitely for the hip and explorative crowd, some adult decor that would lead to some awkward conversations if you bring your family here.

Took a star away because the room wasn't the cleanest ever, but definitely a place to stay if your looking for something fun and non-traditional

Very nice, clean, vintage style hotel. I had the queen standard room with exposed brick and view from outside the front of the hotel (not much of a view since its just a parking lot). It's about a 10 min walk to bourbon street, which is perfect for me because I wanted to be close enough without worrying about the noise from the street. The continental breakfast was decent, bagels, fresh bread, waffle maker, etc. I would go to this hotel if I am travelling in the area again.

Its an old coffee/ tobacco warehouse but its well kept. The all glass doors waterfall showers are very nice. Would have given a 5 star rating but the tall guy at the front with a pony tail desk flat out refused to give me a receipt upon checking out. He was kinda blowing me off. Instead of offering a valid reason. I didn't think it was a big deal. Bad days are not allowable when dealing with customers... OK?

Very cool and individually decorated rooms. We had a room on the street and it was not loud. Definitely different from the standard hotel chain rooms. In 10 minutes you can walk to the French Quater. Unfortunately, parking is expensive ($ 40 valet)

Very cool hotel in a great location. We did not have any problems with strange smells, our room was quiet and nicely appointed. The front desk staff is friendly even though the on-site restaurant was pretentious. They sometimes have specials on Secret Escapes.

Let me start by saying the employees are the best from front desk to the doorman I received was awesome, the beds in this hotel are heaven like the are very comfortable! My room was nice and clean! However parking is horrible because there is no actually place to park. My suggestion is to go ahead and pay to be parked by hotel.. My room was extremely darkened the lighting is terrible if you don't get a room with a window then yeah be prepared to have no sun light unless you go outside!! What I did notice is that at night there is a constant noise being made not sure if it's from the elevator or what but unless you are a heavy sleeper or drunk it will keep you up!!!!

Only reason for three stars is that the front desk staff is seriously under skilled to the point that the whole experience seems a little like a letdown. The actual hotel and rooms are excellent, the atmosphere feels like a coffee house with a boutique/hipster hotel attached at the back. The bar, coffee bar and restaurant all cater to the artsy/trendy (hipster) sort of crowd, so steer clear if you're not into that. I was just there because a friend made the reservation and I was pleasantly surprised but I would just probably come back for the coffee and not the hotel.

The Old 77 is a very neat place to stay. It's very clean, walking distance to great shopping, the WWII museum, great eating places, the French Quarters, and strolling down Bourbon Street. The high ceilings, hardwood floors, brick walls, large windows, beautiful furniture, and lots if nostalgia of what was once an old warehouse. It is my favorite hotel in all of New Orleans. The staff was excellent. This is my favorite place to come to when I'm in New Orleans. I love it.

When staying at different hotels, I look at them from the perspective of my clients needs. I liked Old No. 77 with one exception- we were on the top floor and the rattling of the HVAC system was so disruptive to getting any sleep. If they could overcome this, I would give 5 stars and refer my clients regularly.
