First of all... hotel under renovation. Room was ok. Nice bedding but no window to outside. Booked the booking svc third party cheaper rate than quoted by hotel. Two days later realize hotel chg us for room at the higher rate plus a $10 fee for continental breakfast fee. Now have to deal with hotel making refund. Location is not in happening areaa. Kinda scary to walk at nite. Would nit stay again.

It's been a while, and I forgot to review this place. Their location, right across from the Mother's famous diner and in the middle of the city is awesome. Makes it even more fun to just walk out your door and be in such a city. In the elevator on our way up to our room, someone was complaining about having to leave because of how exciting this city is. There's too much to leave in a review. Go see for yourself.

This hotel was absolutely incredible. The design and atmosphere of the building was unmatched.

The staff (particularly Brittany) was super friendly and helpful.

Loved the cathead vodka in the honor bar.
Shower was nice. Room was nice. Price was Incredible.

Will stay again. Longer next time.

Loved this place! Had my wedding night here and they upgraded my room to a suite. It had a living room and tons of cool stylish furniture, a mix of vintage and modern with furs etc. Bed was large and comfy and mini bar was way stocked! The bar downstairs was worth a visit. Room service for breakfast left something to be desired it felt like just take-out and came with lots of plastic. However, I was excited that the room had a recycle bin, not everywhere in NOLA does! Overall great stay (romantic and very cool)!

Great location within walking distance of the French Quarter. Friendly and attentive staff. Rooms all clean. Each room is unique and the one our friends D's stayed in was haunted. Which they thought was very cool.

This is a great hotel! Very charming and quaint! We stayed for 5 nights and had a very enjoyable time. It seems like most of the rooms have a full size bed and although we asked for a king when we booked the full was just fine. We stayed in the Lafayette portion of the hotel and whole our room had a window the window faced a brick wall about 3 feet away. While it wasn't ideal it actually was perfect for the mornings as there wasn't much sunlight shining in to wake us up. The room had a/c and a fan and plenty of lighting. The Old 77 is within walking distance to Burbon Street but it's about a 12 minute walk. We found that taking the streetcars made it a lot more efficient and fun! I would definitely recommend the Old 77 to anyone visiting New Orleans!

The hotel is converted from old warehouses so the building itself is very old, but in my opinion that is what gave it its charm. I thought it was beautiful.

It was extremely convenient to the Riverwalk and the French Quarter.

Staff was friendly. We really enjoyed the bar & grill inside the hotel.

I will never stay here again and I strongly recommend staying away from this place. When we arrived (in winter) our room was cold and we had to wait an hour until they had maintenance resolve the issue and get heat into our room.
Then I found a hair on my sink.
Then the walls were paper thin and we had to listen to people in the next room whooping like apes into the wee hours.
All of this could have been forgiven--all of it--if they hadn't lied to us to our faces about the valet charge, which amounted to $44 (because we were there on an "event weekend" apparently).
The general atmosphere among the staff is barely concealed hostility that they were forced to do you the favor of taking your money for their mediocre room.
Never again, and I stay in New Orleans twice or thrice a year.

The location of the hotel is great! Close enough to everything for walking, yet awat from the noise of Bourbon Street. The food at the associated restaurant is fantastic. My only complaint was that check in was supposed to be at 4pm, but we didn't get our room until 5pm. And when we did get it, we were missing some things like a bath mat (although this was easily resolved by calling the front desk and we recieved complimentary cocktails for the check in wait). Overall, a great experience for our first trip to New Orleans!

Avoid this place like the plague, cause you might catch the plague staying here. List of problems with the room; dirty, so very dirty. Whole sunflower seeds between the floor boards as well as god knows what else. I get that the place is older but this is filthy. Next up the wine bottles under the bed, great sign that no one bothered to clean the room. Tried to us the ac but the controls fell off the wall when I touched them. But the best part has to be the drugs I found on the floor as well as the dried blood on the wall. That was a sure sign no one could be bothered to clean the place between guests.

Good place, good location, all rooms needs updating. We stayed in an old room with wood floors, you couldnt walk without sliding. Very slippery and hazardous, the bed squeaked if you breath wrong. I passed on the breakfast. Friendly staff. You can always hear the traffic outside

We were given a room with no windows. When we questioned the front desk we were told it was the Expedia rate room. I am well travelled and have never seen a hotel room with no windows. I would think it is a fire hazard. We were gone from our (windowless) room all day and when we returned our room had not been made up. Upon leaving for dinner we requested maid service and were told it would be taken care of. When we returned there was a pile of clean sheets and towels on our unmade bed. We will not return to this hotel!

The hotel is in a great location. The rooms are small, clean, and vintage style. The bath tub is larger than average so it is nice for relaxing or a little romance. Our view was a plain brick wall. You have to pay a bit extra for wifi but it had a great connection. The beds are comfortable.

The hotel has a cool, old-timey vibe. It was a nice hotel to experience. However, the walls are pretty thin (you can hear people walking in next-door rooms if they have shoes on due to the hardwood floors). The rooms are also a bit tiny. Plenty of space if you're only staying to sleep and will be out otherwise. All-in-all, I'm glad I stayed there and got to experience the unique hotel, but I probably won't be staying there again.

Don't expect too much from this 'boutique' hotel. The bellhops smoke right out front of the main entrance. The rooms are not terribly clean: (moldy bathroom tiles, broken bathroom countertops), dustballs on the floor and marks on the walls...The beds are sunken. The headboard on our bed was broken. Look, I just expected a bit more from the website and the rate we paid.

Mary welcomed us in after an early flight and arrival. We asked about checking in early (very, very early in fact). Not only were we checked in early, but we were upgraded to a king.

This hotel is very cool. It is quirky and very unique. Comfortable beds, great amenities.

Probably the best thing, though, is the staff that just cannot seem to do enough for you. One of the best hotel staffs I have ever met!

The hotel staff was lively, attentive and helpful. The room decor was interesting--exposed bricks and pipes were accepted with retro lights and radio. The room was QUIET. Perfect for a relaxing, deep sleep. The bed was extraordinarily comfortable and soft, and the hotel provides plenty of medium firm pillows. They do have a pillow service, allowing guests to customize their pillows. The coffee at breakfast time was delicious. Convenient to the quarter, the dome, the river walk, and just a trolly ride away from the rest of New Orleans, the Old No 77 will be my first choice for accommodations when I stay in New Orleans.

From the start of my stay until my last day the staff have been so helpful with helping a New Yorker navigate. Great hospitality and wonderful people. Two people in particular, Ray and please forgive me for forgetting your name, the housekeeping supervisor. The 2 of you made my friend and I stay wonderful and directed us to great places to eat and understand NOLA. God bless you both.

This hotel misleads you into thinking there will be 2 double beds when there is just 1. I was told that I could be compensated with free parking. When I checked out parking was not on my bill, but later showed up on my credit card bill! Beware, because they lie! I will never use this place again!

We stayed at Old 77 celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary. All of the staff are amazing. The hospitality while staying there was a 10++++++. We were there a day earlier (during Mardi Gras) they were still able to accommodate us. Adrienne made our stay very personal ... having flowers in the room, tokens for the restaurant, and the room was made to feel like ... JUST LIKE HOME. AMAZING. Thank you ALL for everything. Hip hotel, a little over the top but I'm hard to please and all the exposed brick and industrial hardware always seems likes its covering up for what is lacking. Showers don't have doors and the shower head flows straight down from the ceiling, which makes it hard to stay warm in the shower. That's my main complaint. I'd stay somewhere with some soul next time. However it's a fine experience, see for yourself. Have yet to see any ghosts...

We stayed at the hotel and it was great. Very personal, great service and "boutique style". We ate at the restaurant one night and it was excellent. If you like fusion or creole food with a sophisticated touch and a personal touch, this is the place for you!

My Stay at the Old 77 was terrible. It actually ruined our girls weekend. Our first night we discovered our room wasn't clean. Under the dresser there was dust balls, old French fries and quarters. It was disguisting. As I proceeded to complain I was offered a complimentary breakfast for 2 with coffees just for one day. We couldn't take advantage of it because we were going on the food tour at 10 am so I proceed to ask front desk if I could use it tommorrow and they said NO. The staff behind the breakfast counter especially the gentleman with curly hair was the most rude server I've ever encountered in my travels. Looked like he was doing us a favour. For the most part the whole restaurant staff had a bad attitude. Our air conditioner was so loud for 3 nights we couldn't sleep. Nothing was done to fix that. We had extra room charges for room service and wifi. They removed the charges but that was an argument too since we didn't have room service because we were enjoying the cuisine of New Orleans and WiFi is included . That was quite the struggle getting those extra charges removed. I would never recommend this hotel. The four of us girls have travelled the world are are very experienced travellers. This had to rank this worst hotel Stay ever. Keep in mind we are in our 50's.

I stayed at the Ambassador hotel this past weekend (Thursday, January 16 Sunday, January 19) and not only will I never stay there again but recommend no one else does. This hotel is not only extremely run down but the majority of the staff are unfriendly, unhelpful and rude.

Upon checking in we were greeted with an unfriendly lady at the front desk. When I opened the door to our room my heart sank. It was clearly not the room I had reserved, which was a Superior Double Queen room. This room looked like a small, dark closest and had a lovely view of kitchen storage. I immediately walked back to the front desk and explained to the chipper female that this could not be the room I had reserved. According to the description/pictures the superior rooms were supposed to have wood floors and exposed brick. Instead of apologizing or explaining the female s first response was, well they don t look like the pictures . After I explained the major differences she agreed and said a new room would be ready at 4:00pm. We arrived back at the hotel and went up to our new room. By the description of a superior room this room was one but looked much different than the pictures. It had hard wood floors and an exposed brick wall. The room also had massive water damage that was poorly patched. The bathroom had major cracks around the shower and door. I understand part of the charm of the Ambassador is supposed to be its old, authentic interior but water damage and cracks should not be part of that. The bedding was cheap and the pillowcases had massacre stains. Honestly the Quality Inn by the airport we stayed in the night before was in better condition.

Unfortunately the unfriendly female at the front desk was not the worst employee we came in contact with at the Ambassador. Thursday night we decided to stop in the attached bar, Lafayett s. We took a seat at one of the high tables by the bar and waited for the red headed female bartender to greet us. After a few minutes she looked at us and said, If you want a drink, you have to come to the bar. I am not a cocktail waitress and especially not when the bar is half full . I was speechless. Clearly this lady missed the memo on good customer service or how to get tips. My boyfriend ordered a beer, drank it and we were out with in ten minutes.

There were a few friendly employees but unfortunately the rude ones outweighed the good. The only positive thing I can say about the Ambassador is it in a good location, close to Harrah s and the French Quarter. Overall a very disappointing stay and I wish I had listened to the other bad views I read before booking.

Lots of potential but really hit and miss with the service. Did package with $10 towards breakfast a day. Breakfast menu is a joke so never ate there. Its like its trying so hard to look fancy and different, it totally misses actually being any good. Bathrooms are minuscule. Really disappointed. Location isn t that great either. Its actually much further away from all the tourist spots than it looks like on a map. Initially was given a room on the third floor but the floor were so uneven and slanted I actually got nauseous and requested a room on the first floor, which they accommodated.

The staff was friendly and the location was pretty good. The booking a little bit misleading as to what the room looks like you are booking. The only window my room had was to tiny little opening where all I saw was 3 walls each a few feet away.

Love this place and stay here every time I'm in NOLA. You can stay in a big box hotel in Cleveland or Hartford...but when you come to NOLA, please stay in a local joint. Great vibe, great ambiance. You won't be disappointed.

The hotel has a nice and charming feel. Location is great since you can easily access many places - lower garden district, french quarter and downtown. Streetcars are also near the area. :)

The bed was good. We had a beautyrest pillowtop that was really comfortable! Beware of unannounced card charges that they might take after your stay. Watch your credit card statement. The bellboy was soliciting tips and was counting tips in public which is disgraceful.

Checked in and the bed was undone with dirty sheets so they moved us to another room. You can easily hear people in other rooms and the wooden floors are somewhat noisy. No coffee machines are available in the rooms. The valet parking is expensive but then again it's expensive everywhere because of the location. A fire alarm set out throughout the day and the place was under construction. The bar was so full we went to Barcadia. The staff was friendly and attentive.

Great decor and vibe - walking distance from French quarters.

Front desk and valet staffs are professional and attentive. Make sure to ask for a room NOT on the ground floor or facing the neighboring bar. The walls are a little thin and you'll hear loud music and party goers until at least 11pm.

Must have their coffee and blueberry muffins (made with whole blueberries)

Full disclosure - I had written a one star review due to a less than professional front desk employee - but the manager stepped in and address the situation. Hence my 4 star review.
