Interesting menu and great staff. I love their fish tacos on the lunch menu
Great little spot with some interestingly fresh take on food! I liked the majority of the plates that we had, but as progressive as Austin is, a little disappointed (not only here, but all around Austin) that they have very few veggie/vegan options! Service was great.
Food was so good and interesting! My favorite was the goat chili with egg noodles and goat cheese!
Fantastic! The duck egg was amazing and the cocktails were solid. Love the barrel aged cocktails.
Excellent tapas-style meal with a wide variety of flavors. Especially enjoyed the goat chili pasta (like a Frito pie on crack), French 76 from an expert mixologist, and sourdough bread (dark brown crust) was the best ever. Long-time staff have wonderful camaraderie. Will be back next time we're in town. Pictured is a toasted carrot cake with buttermilk ice cream. Delectable.
The smoked chicken taco salad is good, they have ballet parking you don't have to worry for parking in downtown Austin.
Let's just say we don't get the appeal.
My husband and I went to Odd Duck last night. I was really excited because I had heard good things and checked out their menu before going and everything looked amazing. We were seated at their bar which opens to their kitchen, so the bartenders are not your servers. You actually still have a server come up behind you (which was awkward), which forces them to basically shout inches from your face due to how loud it is in there.
Our server was very nice, but seemed to be new. He forgot a drink we ordered (but comped it) and kept fumbling with things. He also would leave us sitting for 10-15 minutes at a time without acknowledging us. Which is inconvenient at this place because their plates are so small, you go through them quickly and need to order more. The food was good, not great, and overpriced for our liking.
They're very nice, but come off as pretentious and the food isn't worth the price or size. Won't be going back again, but I'm sure they don't mind because they're always packed. Just not our kind of restaurant.
We live close to Odd Duck and have talked about going for ages. I finally made reservations for me us. They had no tables and sat us at the bar. The irony is that they take their reservation s through a site called "open table". Another party who had also made reservations were seated 40 minutes late. It was so loud my date and I frequently couldn't hear the bartender/server. The food was good, but the pizza and carrots would have been much tastier without so much pepper overwhelming the more subtle flavors. Service was poor, but the bartender was very busy so I couldn't fault her. Two different managers came by and apologized, which I appreciated, and they comped one of our appetizers. Still, with so many wonderful places to eat in this town, it's hard to understand why they're so successful (and highly rated).
Been wanting to come to Odd Duck for lunch for awhile now because I heard they are well-known for their burger (which comes with chili, beer cheese, a tostada, cilantro, broccoli cabbage slaw, & aioli). Finally tried it myself and it was so good! All these unique ingredients combined together made for a great-tasting experience. I also got a dessert, the Carrot Cake Spiced Doughnut Holes (which comes with mesquite bean-pecan ice cream & maple glaze). These were amazing as well. Full of flavor while also also being pretty light. All in all, you can't go wrong with anything here as they have a bunch of unique food offerings. As for the ambiance, it is pretty - very laid back! I also received good service and overall had great time. I will be back!
Definitely delicious - the staff is soooo nice & every dish was inventive & better than the next - super busy
Went with few colleagues for dinner on a Tuesday. Great food. Because they serve small plates, we shared a lot of food which was great and communal. I was the only vegetarian so I had a brown rice dish which was delicious. Others were pleased with their selections too, antelope was ordered several times. Make reservations in advance.
One of my hands down favorite restaurants in the city.
Lovely new American cuisine using locally sourced produce. Sat at the bar and it was amazing to watch one of the chefs roast quails and sweet potatoes in a wood fire oven. Tried six selections on the menu and all were good to amazing. I particularly like the antelope and the sweet potatoes. Great selection of local beers and long list of wines by the glass. I will be returning.
By far, one of the most amazing dining experiences I've ever had. The food was not only delicious, but such unique pairings. The service was absolutely unparalleled. I'm so sad I don't live in this area, as I would be a regular diner. This restaurant is a MUST!
Had a fantastic meal. Definitely recommend reservations for a Friday evening. We got lucky and a table opened up early. Waited inside with our drinks. Staff was friendly. Meal was delicious. My favorites was the squash and falafel. Dessert pot de creme was rich and tasty. Great way to finish the meal. Wait staff was attentive clearing plates as needed and kept our water filled as well as our drinks.
We dined here as part of a bachelorette party with a group of 12. They did an 8-course pre-fixe tapas meal and everything was fabulous. Many of the girls said it was the best tapas they ve ever had.
I'm a huge fan of small plates, so this place is right up my alley. I also like that the menu changes frequently. I highly recommend this place for tourists, sit at the counter if there are few of you. Locals, grab a date, it's a nice vibe.
Incredible food, excellent service. Can't wait to come back!
Great meal. The pork chop and quail were great. The steak was 1 note and pretty dissapointing. Drinks were very good and the service was great.
Booked a table for my husbands b-day and had a fantastic experience. We were sat at the bar and had a super awesome server who kept the drinks flowing and the conversation going (he was so attentive even when it was super busy!). The food was delicious and inventive and the atmosphere not nearly as pretentious as I thought it might be. We got a birthday fortune cookie that was the size of a hand too!!
Creative, delicious, inspired food. Good value for money & a great atmosphere.
Some of the best culinary inventions around. Example: Rabbit meat, soft-boiled duck egg, and mushrooms on grits. Hungry yet? Stop by the neighboring Gourdough's gourmet donuts trailer next door for dessert.
Wow, one of the best meals I have ever had. And one of the more creative menus I have seen. We had a work dinner here, as one of our colleagues lives in Austin and swears by Odd Duck. He couldn't be more right. From the ambience to the service to the food and drink they didn't miss a beat. I could have eaten a hundred of the soft pretzels with squash queso. I also thought I would never eat fish heads before. They had these fried fish heads that were delicious. Can't wait to go back next time I am in Austin.
Amazing cuisine, simple yet diverse flavors, modern spin on classic dishes, definitely worth a taste
I usually do not leave reviews, but our experience warrants a show of appreciation. My husband and I went to Odd Duck for a date night and it was deliciously entertaining from start to finish. The young man doing the valet was extremely charismatic and hilarious, so we felt good even before we got in the door. The hostess informed us that we would have . 15 minute wait, but we did not mind since it gave us the chance to people watch. While we were waiting they rushed over and asked if they could offer us a beverage, and then it felt like no time before we were seated right by one of the chefs! The chef and the team all seem to be a well oiled machine! We watched them take great care and passion cooking and plating the food. I was drooling most of the time. Our servers had great energy and made us feel right at home. When the food came we scarfed it down and EVERY SINGE BIT OF THE MEAL WAS DELICIOUS!!!
It was also pretty cool that most of the guest were also pretty nice and all seemed to be having the times of their life.
Perhaps this story sounds a bit dramatic, but it was a phenomenal dining experience and you just have to try Odd Duck for yourself because as dramatic as I am, I promise I am telling the truth - it was phenomenal.
Absolutely fantastic. From the ambiance, to the cocktails, the attentiveness of the servers, and most importantly the food. Can not wait to come back to Austin just to eat here again.
I love this restaurant! The food is so good and invetive. The service is superb. Such a fun place to share with your friends.
Amazing and unique food with distinctive tastes. If you want a special night out or have someone to impress, this will do it.
Odd Duck has a great menu of tasty foods...but, their soup is what originally won me over!
Fantastic appetizers and great place to meet up for drinks.
Fantastic food and attentive staff. Easily one of the best restaurants in Austin.
I appreciate that they have a dedicated vegetarian menu. Decent food and great delicious dessert.
Each bite is an adventure and discovery of new flavors! Dramatic but true the food is amazing. Drinks and cocktails are an art form of their own.
POrk belly worth your time , chicken wings, tasty and satisfying. I liked the variety of Texas beers offered. Definitely worth the time for lunch and drinks & chill afterwards.
We visited this restaurant for dinner last Saturday night. It was very noisy in the restaurant because people crowded in all at the same time.
The reason why I give them just one star here is that something wired has happened when I reviewed it yesterday on the internet. Actually I gave them three stars but my post was uploaded 4 stars on TripAdvisor ! It is odd and overrated.
Small plates done right. Every dish will have interesting flavors. So glad this place graduated from trailer to brick-and-mortar! The pretzel is a standout - if they have it on the menu, definitely get it!
I'm not sure what the deal with our waitress was but she was less than interested at doing her job. The food was Great and all the other waiter/waitress's were all knew their stuff.
All I can day....a gotta go place. Small shareable plates like a tapas restaurant, all ingredients are local farm to table. Staff...amazing. the care and understanding of the history, the owner the food. Food, nothing short of amazing. Get prepared for food explosions on your palate. Also...if you get seated at the bar, take it. Likely one of the best seats as you have front row access to some wonderful mixologists.
Definitely one of my new favorite places, so glad I tried it!
My girlfriends and I went here for Happy Hour and were pleasantly surprised. The Moscow Mules are refreshing and a little spicy from the Ginger Beer. We had a variety of delicious items: Grilled Toast lamb jerky, duck egg fried rice (my fav), ceviche and everyone loved the Goat confit. We will be back.
The best margarita I've ever had!! The food here is finger licking good. The dishes are so unique and innovative. The flavors are our of this world and best things is that they have food happy hour and you can get 5 dishes between two people and share them. The portions are small which is perfect for the concept. One of my favorite restaurants in Austin.
What a great experience. If you have the privilege of having Darlene to assist you, tell her I said hi, and you are there representing me.
She's good peeps!
Amazing food, great service, great atmosphere ... perfect for a nice date!
The thing is, this restaurant is quite unique because all dishes are small, but meant to be shared within your party.
*** TIP: Have 4 to 5 petite courses for every two people.
Amazing food, very good service and a totally pleasant atmosphere ... perfect place for a date!
The concept of the place is that all the dishes are small, but they are destined to share with your group of friends.
*** TIP: Ask for 4 to 5 small dishes for every two people.
Dim sum cart is a cool twist. Awesome food and drinks.
Everything here is amazing! The brunch is definitely a memorable event!
Really great experience. Always excellent kitchen with huge variations of dishes.
Every experience is epic. No one is ever disappointed.
dropped in on tues. the service was very welcoming and observant. the bill was reasonable.
Went here for a work-related event recently. Theirs is not at all my time of cuisine (I'm a Plain Jane when it comes to food), but the people were incredibly friendly - from the valet (they have a tiny parking lot but free valet service) to the hostess to the servers. Great customer service! The place was packed, so all of the foodies love it, I know! :)
I had a great experience at Odd Duck on my last visit to Austin, I had always heard good things but hadn't yet tried it for myself. I was not disappointed. The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was great. The bar had a good selection of beer, wine and cocktails to satisfy any desire.
One of my favorite brunch spots. The coffee blend is perfect
This was my absolute favorite place in Austin! We had such a wonderful experience here. I highly recommend sitting at the bar, as the service was exceptional and fun! The food was delicious, delicious, delicious! I can t wait to go back here! They do have easy valet parking as well.
My way too short business trip to Austin led me to the Odd Duck for lunch before heading out. We had the Pretzel with chorizo spiced mushrooms, squash, cheese, pepperoni spiced mayo. I got the Burger w chili, beer cheese, tostada, cilantro, broccoli-brussels sprout slaw and aioli was truly decadent. Already too full, we shared Carrot cake spiced doughnut holes with mesquite bean-pecan ice cream and maple glaze. It made for a belly full of food on my flight home. A Must visit place.
This place is amazing. I highly recommend checking it out. Their menu is always changing to incorporate the freshest of local ingredients. When I was there, the highlights were the carrot and the shitake donut. I'd recommend 3 to 4 plates per person for a filling meal.
Food was good, but over priced. Service was helpful. The venue was crowded and loud. Nothing was bad, but nothing was good enough to lure me back either.
So amazing. Every dish was delicious and unique and phenomenal. Compliments to the chefs! Drinks were delicious. Service was awesome (thank you Brendan!). Odd Duck is a fabulous restaurant and topping the charts for me as favorite restaurant in Austin.
Stopped in during a great 10 mile run around the city and just missed lunch hours, but the lite fare items we had were absolutely amazing. We had Shrimp Dip with Pimento Cheese and Redfish Ceviche with Tiger Milk. The Live Oak Hefe and Prickly Pear Margarita were great as well. Bartender even threw in a daily cookie.
Absolutely excellent. This is so far my favorite place to eat in Austin. Go in with open mind, empty stomach, and a friend or two to share it with. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. The cocktails are very good and different. The margherita with damiana and chili is the best margherita I have ever tried, and I'm normally a gin guy .....stouts and porters...for beer. I like this place more than Barley Swine, but would suggest that place anytime as well. Go forth and eat!!!
The service was excellent (start to finish). The food was what I would describe as a original twist on unoriginal foods, the result being a delicious yet comfortably familiar menu. We had the house bread, cevieche, quesadilla, paella, duck egg, and pizza. None of the items tasted nearly as normal as they sound and they were all worthy of the hype that the venue commands. We all be back.
I have been here multiple times and always come back to an incredible dining experience. The service is second to none and the food never fails to impress. Highly recommended to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience.
First time at the Odd Duck and I will definitely be returning! The staff are incredible, we were welcomed to the restaurant by five people when we walked in. The atmosphere and decor are great, perfect for a date or night out with friends. We ordered four entrees, all were excellent. I especially liked the squash and the duck. Service was prompt and regular and wait times were short. At the end of the night I left my cellphone at the table, and our waiter caught us in the parking lot to return it to me. Overall, 10/10 experience.
I stopped in for lunch today and absolutely loved it! I sat at the bar, the bartender was helpful (helped me choose-everything sounded awesome) and was perfectly attentive and nice. The sweet potato was fried in a great batter and had a More
Glorious! Best of the best... Every single bite was delicious. The menu does change every month, so some of what I say maybe gone. But We felt lucky to have eaten here.
My wife is allergic to onions, upon hearing this the waiter returned with a highlighted menu of how she could order anything without onions. That is above and beyond!
Our meal started with a nice bread and butter, then a seared antelope tartar type dish that was unbelievable, who knew antelope was so good. Among other things was the stuffed Cornish hens that was the best poultry I've ever had.. The fried rice topped with a fried egg was down right greatness.
The service was second to none, I believe every server and manager brought something to my table at some point and with a smile. The drinks were expertly made, and I really appreciate those single large blocks of ice in the old fashion's. I loved that they let me buy the kitchen staff a beer.
This really is the best of the best kind of place, if I lived in Austin, id be a regular for sure!!
Great fancy food spot with good cocktails too. I miss the pig face rolls but I think they still make them as a special sometimes.
Great food, and the location had great vibes. They are all about that farm to table lifestyle!
Neither here nor there. Cocktail are good but expensive.
Truly a five star experience. Incredible service, amazing food and a lovely atmosphere.
Overpriced small portions for hipster foodies... eh, over it
They seem to rely more on salt to provide flavor then the ingredients themselves. The staff were rude, one server muttered "whatever" under his breath after we thanked him for the food he had just given us. They also do not allow us to get a drink while we were waiting for a table. At the end of our meal we ended up going somewhere else so we could satisfy our hunger after spending too much money on a small amount of food. I am not sure why it is so popular. It is either people being duped like me or people more concerned with trend that good food. This place is the epitome of everything that is wrong with Austin now. Overcrowded, pretentious and lacks respect for the culture and people that made Austin a desirable place to live.
Creative food... Great atmosphere... Always great service
My cousin has celiac disease and I was a little worried about whether she could eat much at this gem of a resturaunt. We were a bit late (as usual) and found that our server Ian had straight up gone over the whole menu with her and marked the it in pencil with all safe choices. The food was delicious and the waitstaff were really amazing. I'll never forget how thoughtful, funny, laid back, and smart the staff were + the food. Oh hell, the food! Go go go!
Fantastic food and great service. Loved it. Will become a go to spot when in town.
Excellent food and service! My dining companion and I have food allergies and they were able to accommodate us!
Odd Duck is an odd duck with a unique, yet delicious menu. Get out of your comfort zone and order something you wouldn't normally go for because everything is delicious. Then wash it down with one of their many tasty cocktails. The pork chop in butternut puree with a boc choy and apple slaw was one of the best things I've eaten this year.
Went for brunch. Definitely a small plates place. The food is delicious. Kinda your typical millennial dining experience. Excellent food, more casual service with the decor of there isn't really a theme because we're trendy. They recommend getting multiple plates and sharing. I recommend the multiple plates approach, but as to whether you share or not, that is up to you. There were four of us and we opted for 5 plates, but everyone got a pastry as well. Of our five plates, we selected the pretzel, waffle, pork belly, french toast frittata, and the sweet potato hash. The sweet potato hash was my favorite. Cheddar grits with sweet potato, ocra and crumbled sausage. The pork belly was my number two. I'm more into savory and salty over sweet, but two of my companions most preferred the french toast frittata. All around great.
Great food and drinks and a wonderful atmosphere and employees.
