Odd Duck was truly amazing--I highly recommend this restaurant and cannot wait to take my dad here when he comes in town. This is how Austin does fine dining: farm to table dishes with an eccentric flair, eaten in a "laidback chic" restaurant on South Lamar.

The food: Odd Duck serves small plates, priced $6-14 each (they recommend three to five plates per person.) Everything we had was exciting and delicious. Stand outs were the boudin grits with shrimp, redfish with hummus, beef heart salad, and chicken fried egg--but like really, everything was spectacular. The only complaint I had was that dishes that had mousses, fillings, or sauces had a bit too much of the mousse/filling/sauce, but it's a small complaint.

The service: Our server (Caton...? Something unsual like that) was SO awesome. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and patient...I asked a bunch of questions lol. He also didn't make us feel judged or like we weren't cool enough to be there--pretentiousne staff is a problem in the Austin scene, but not at Odd Duck.

The ambiance: We sat on the deck, which looks out at Lamar. Not the best view but it was a beautiful night. Outside had picnic tables, but they were pretty nice. It's not the coolest decorated venue in town, but it has a refined rustic charm.

Our best dining experience in all of Austin. The servers were knowledgeable and super friendly and every bite of food was the best bite I'd ever had. This is one of our favorite restaurants of all time and we'll definitely be returning on our next trip to Austin

All those people criticizing the portion sizes are obviously more accustom to dining at all you can eat buffets than places like Odd Duck. If you want to eat well and outside your experience, places like Odd Duck are the places to go. Be a gourmet rather than a gourmand. No wonder over 50% of Americans are morbidly obese. That said the food and presentation were excellent. The duck egg was superb as was the snapper ceviche. Actually, we had everything except the smoked fish, cajun red beans, taco pizza, grilled shrimp, and the quail. If you are not into sharing and believe a meal should consist of appetizer, entree and dessert, then you might not enjoy Odd Duck. But then you will miss out on a great dining experience. Can't say enough nice things about our server, Zinnia, either.

Delicious food and attentive service. Anyone with food allergies or sensitivities is taken seriously here. The cuisine is thoughtful and so tasty, and the atmosphere is pleasant as well.

Went with colleagues on a Thursday night. Had a reservation at an earlier time but had to move to 8PM. The restaurant was pretty full at that time. Definitely use the free valet (which I think is required for the lot which is small). We were seated right away. Very casual feel and the service was on top of everything. It s small plates to be shared accept for a couple items. We had the sourdough dough, cucumber melon salad, red fish ceviche, shrimp, quail, and I think one more I m forgetting. 6 for 3 people was enough, maybe we could have had 1 more. That did leave room for dessert and we tried all 3. Whether it was the small plates or desserts they were all very good. Interesting flavor combos, unique ingredients, very good all around. For a meat eater I think the melon cucumber was the best. All were very good though and the experience was great. Definitely would return. It is very popular so plan in advance. We noticed at the time we were there, there were definitely bar seats available.

Delicious food from start to finish. The pig face rolls (yes, rolls filled with the meat from a pig's face) were some of the most delicious things I have had in a while. Here's a tip for you- don't think you're going to get one order and share. You won't be happy at the end of that experience, and you won't be friends with the other people.

One of the unique dining experience that you want to come back! Semi casual setting, great service, small to medium size shared plates. Good spot for casual date night. Beets and scallop are the bomb. So much layers of flavor and complexity. It is a must try! Although our wait staff did say menu does change frequently based on local ingredients availability.

Parking: Complimentary valet-- that is completely necessary b/c their lot is so tiny

Service: OK, no complaints but nothing extraordinary either.

Kid/baby friendly? Yes if you have a small party & kids are well-behaved. Saw a family with 2 kids who did really well. We brought the little one & were able to sit at the end of their inside patio so it didn't really bother anyone.

Food: Pretty good!

Parker house roll $3: Piping hot warm roll with some decadent tender meat inside. The mustard complemented the roll except some parts were too strong and overpowered the filling inside.

Jerked pork belly $12 The pork belly pieces were good & flavor was good, but the cheddar rice cake and honey crisps were not crispy at all. It was like they made it & sat it under a heat lamp too long. It had potential, but missed the mark for me. Oh, and it was pretty tiny.

Honey tart & chocolate ice cream $7 rich & decadent & delicious!!! I didn't want to share this one

Apple fritter doughnut & sour cream ice cream $8 It wasn't bad, but personally prefer the fluffiness and crunch and share-ability of Gourdoughs.

Overall-- Nothing really stood out as a dish that I HAVE to come back for-- which is good since their menu changes all the time anyways. But, with all of the new restaurants advertising similar things (local produce, trendy, tapas-style dishes, culinary creativity), I think it'd be hard to justify coming back.

The menu doesn't always include every ingredient, which allows for a great flavor surprise! The kale salad was an explosion of flavors and textures! The burger was a bit overly dressed, aka, quite messy! But flavorful and juicy and cooked perfectly! The staff was well informed and gracious, if not a bit snobbish, lol.

The food was good, but they place a significant charge on you if anyone in your reservation doesn't show up. This is the dumbest, most pretentious & snobby policy that I've seen in Austin, Tx.

It's a very cute place with a good vibe and a lot of potential to grow. Flavor profile needs work. Mimosa's made with freshly squeezed juice is a wonderful idea but carrot was a bit too earthy for me. The waiter said that if I don't like their ceviche he'll quit his job LOL. I liked it but I wasn't floored by it; it was confusing, the fish highly under-seasoned and overpowered with that green-curry sauce and BBQ chips. To me it needs more balance, it's a cool idea but as a dish it doesn't come together. The beet salad was good, but not everyone likes goat cheese, and I'd replace it with blue cheese actually. The black olive crumble on top spot on though! The main dishes underwhelming, the start of the ham and eggs was the garlic scone which they don't even make in the house (!) and outsource it from a local bakery. The fried chicken was far too heavy for me, the crispiness was spot on, but the waffle and sirup not a great combination. I'd also add some garlic and salt to give the chicken more flavor, and replace the glazed grapefruit with lemon because it'd add more zest and pop to the overall flavor. The onions pickled with vinegar are a great idea but the whole thing doesn't come together as a dish; it's a bunch of great individual great ideas that need rethinking. The lime panna cotta was very well-balanced, fresh mint was absolutely the right decision, but the whip cream unnecessary, it's too rich. Overall, a really interesting place, and the present really well but to me don't deliver enough flavor-wise (and it's a bit heavy for me), but I'd love to come back and eat more.

The food is unreal...but so are the prices. The ingredients are obviously as fresh as can be, and they really outdo themselves balancing flavors and textures in their dishes. You can't go wrong if the wagyu short rib pasta is on the menu.

Food, service, drinks, all excellent. The noise level in the dining area was a little high but probably just because everyone was having such a good time. Some of the dishes w enjoyed: Redfish ceviche, tiger s milk, beet, olive, sweet potato curry, chips; Roasted beets, black bean mole, masa fried cheese curds, radish, pepitas; and mushroom, cucumber, olive. Otherwise we devoured before I could get a picture

Very creative dishes and thoughtful details to the food. I think the combination of overhype and small portions led to an experience that didn't really wow me. Coming from NYC where good brunch is at another level, I was surprised by what we got for the price. Service was great!

Definitely pretentious, food was tasty and service was good. I don't usually bring a Texas appetite to a tapas place, however groups are $35/person minimum which means it's going to be a 2000+ calorie dinner. 8 or 8 said not going back.

Oh, no sweet-n-low for our diabetic friends, and only 1 dish was properly salted

Atmosphere: Looks fancy on the outside but actually quite hippie on the inside! Don't feel pressured to over dress due to the ratings and cost. Tables inside and outside large wrap around bar with seats as well.
Menu: This is a great place to split meals because their menu is always changing it is farm to table for what is fresh in season. They do not always keep the same menu so you can split menu items to try more options. Make sure to ask questions on menu items some item,s do not come out looking the way you might assume. Also ask about portion size some do not explain that it is only enough for one.
Recommendations: Make reservations, get there early to avoid paying valet, and order the pretzel!

Hands down the best food and atmosphere in Austin. Extremely creative, seasonal menu where you just have to trust the chef. Because you will not regret it.

Seriously quality food with wonderful vegetarian and meat options. And the overall aesthetic and vibe is very relaxing and lovely.

Make sure you make a reservation though, because this place is popular!

I was so excited to try Odd Duck.... it s on 2 Eater lists. And the taste of its food did not disappoint! The restaurant reservations are on RESY. The inside is beautiful, gorgeous decor. The dishes are all to share. They are so unique and wonderful! I promise you, you ve never had these plates somewhere else (unless it s one of their restaurants). The presentation (which is important to me) could be better to rise to the quality of the dining experience. The food seems to be slopped on the plates. The desserts are heavenly. The peach cobbler was our favorite. We did NOT love their house made sodas. But overall it was an excellent dinner. Bill for 2 people, $170.00.

Cozy atmosphere, still finding their groove but a very welcome addition to the great Brunswick restaurants. I had the Fresno Pete cocktail which was smokey and spicy but not too sweet. Fish tacos had a lot of flavor. I would have liked the bread to be warmer but the place was very busy so I get it that things were cooler than ideal

This is a great farm to table brunch spot. What is brunch without champagne. I had a buttery pastry which it so delicious that you have to get it. The quail tacos and chicken & waffle were both a hit that I recommend. Overall, I would definitely be coming back here next time I visit Austin.

Love this place!! Been several times now and have enjoyed it each time. If you want a table you need to have a reservation but the bar seats are comfortable and the service has always been outstanding. Great wine list too!!

The brick and mortar Odd Duck is everything I thought it would be and more. Granted they don't have the epic pork belly slider the trailer had, their menu is amazing and always changing to give variety. I'm a big fan of the pimento cheese taters as well as the pretzel. And the drinks are great. They are also very accommodating- I came with two toddlers who we had to get to bed fairly soon and was told the wait was an hour long. After we decided we needed to find a new place for the kids, they came out and told us they could make it happen for us within 15 minutes as long as we could finish our meal before their next reservation. It was great customer service and let the adults have a delicious meal before the kids got in bad moods.

They also have a Sunday happy hour with $5 Moscow Mules on draft and it's way better than the drink deals at Gibson and the new Highball across the street. Overall, it's good food, drinks and atmosphere- definitely recommend.

Small but excellent plates. Sit at the bar where you can watch the kitchen work if you can. We've been here 3 times and it's always great; food and service. One of those was for brunch, I highly recommend it. There's also complimentary valet.
