the only restaurant where ingredients are selected by throwing darts and the beer is more filling than the food. don't worry, the waitress will be back in 10 minutes to refill your thimble full of water. definitely smelled a gas leak when i walked in. hope it doesn't burn to the ground with all the hipsters inside. that would be real sad.

Name is correct, very odd. Went for a birthday. Loud and expensive. We ordered lots of food, most was good besides these carrots that were in hay. Staff was very friendly and accommodating with recommendations.

Yummy

I used to go to Odd Duck all the time with friends when it was simply a little trailer on South Lamar. I finally got over to their new location that's in essentially the same spot and was so pleasantly surprised to enjoy it as much as I did. The weather was nice, so my friend and I sat outside for dinner one evening. As with the trailer, the plates are small and best when shared along with several other plates (2-3 per person). Since they source locally, the menu varies with what's in season and available at the time, which I like because not only is it at peak freshness, but there's always something new to try when you return.

We started with a couple parker house rolls stuffed with pig's face and even though it was seemingly the most simple, it was probably my favorite thing I ate the entire night, screaming comfort right to my heart. I could've devoured a dozen of them. We had a pizza that sounded better on the menu than it ended up being in real life. We also had a lamb taco and an heirloom tomato salad that were both really great but maybe not as special as some of the other items. The last thing we shared was the black olive pasta with braised goat, sage, and parmesan and wow. It was incredible. So much savory flavor and texture, it was really spectacular.

They have a few dishes that are larger portions and intended to be shared among groups of 4 to 6 that I would love to go back to try soon. I think I may like this place better than Barley Swine because it seemed like the menu was a tad more extensive. Also, the space is much larger so it can accommodate many more guests without such a drastic wait time. But other than that, they are somewhat similar and both excellent, which makes sense of course. I think this would be a fun place to take out of town guests to give them a taste (many in fact) of what the Austin food scene is all about!

Hands down the worst tasting menu ever. Each selection is in the $teens, but the serving are so tiny that you must order multiple plates to make a meal. That said, our party of six ordered several of each and passed them around to only choke on. There was not one good taste. Then the was the bill: Expensive. We then immediately drove to another restaurant to enjoy an expected wonderful dinner. NOTE: None of our party are from some country where they must eat dung to survive.

Gourmet and creative small plates. Waiter was very helpful in helping us choose the number and variety of dishes. Everything from drinks to dessert was top notch. Valet parking was very convenient.

We came for early valentines dinner and had a great experience. Benji was our server and was so kind and helpful, even helped navigate the menu for my beau's dietary restrictions. The food was all unlike anything I've ever had and all incredible. Highly recommend this place.

This is a great spot in Austin. We stumbled upon it after searching on google!, and it didn't disappoint. As we approached, the place was packed, which is a good sign in a city with such a good scene. Our food was great. There was plenty of balance and flavor with what we had. The prices were fair for what we got. And the ambiance of the place was great even though it was a smaller place.

My burger was served cold and a surprising amount on corn on it. I don't digest corn well and the menu never mentioned corn, so I didn't think to ask. My husband found the salad very spicy. My parents loved their tacos.

Pretty modern and contemporary vibes with Austin mix. Maybe such places are not common around but I didn t see the experience worth it. Food was ok, for some reason I felt I was forced to order a lot of food.

Overall, the food was great! Only the jerk pork belly did we feel was a bit too salty, and the sauce overbearing. A server, Alexandro, was not receptive to any criticism, and as much as disputed. Jennifer was great! Neither the Fig butter cake or the Chocolate ice cream sandwich appealed to us. The Draft Paloma cocktail was a standout! Very pleasant and accommodating hostess, too.

Very very friendly staff!! That's definitely what stood out most to me - the bartender, Dan, made sure I was taken care of and the servers were fantastic and friendly as well. I came for dinner one night during my conference stay so I was at the bar by myself - they made me feel so welcomed and chatted with me and made sure everything was perfect! I don't normally like the smokiness of the mezcal but the bartender made me the Sayonara Scotty and told me he'd make me another if I didn't like it - and this drink wasn't overpowering with mezcal at all. The strawberry, thyme and lemon really cut the smokiness of the tequila! It was different but I liked it. The draft Paloma was also really good!

Food wise, I had the redfish ceviche! Yum!! I think this was my favorite of the night. The fish, the beets, the curry and the tiger's milk - the combination of the sweet potato curry flavor with the tart/sweetness of the beets mixed very well together with the chips. Freshness and color and everything in between. Who would've thought the flavor combination would go so well together! The beets almost tasted like strawberries and rhubarb combination with the curry mixed in!

The sunny duck egg with the pig face, braised greens and cornbread was also good. I loved the pig face, so soft and flavorful! The addition of the duck egg and corn bread was fantastic! Not usually a fan of the braised greens so wasn't a fan here either.

Cast iron paella with the BBQ octopus, pork belly, sofrito, and aioli was also good. I liked the softness and the flavor of the pork belly and the octopus, however the aioli made the dish a little too rich. I think a few less dollops of aioli or none at all would've made the dish perfect. I also thought there was way more meat than rice ratio but maybe cause the aioli made it too much and I wanted more rice to cut the taste.

Overall, I loved the open kitchen/open concept bar feel. The ambiance made it nice and homey and so did the friendly staff and amazing combination of foods. Though it wasn't the best food I've ever had, nor the best ceviche or paella, I liked that the dishes were different, had different flavor profiles that what I've seen and were creative in a delightful way.

Good food. Good service and they accommodate allergies. Menu changes according to the season. They get supplies from local businesses. Prices are on the higher end. They have complimentary valet but you could probably find parking nearby.

Very consistent and delicious. The waitstaff is always top notch and the kitchen can be very accommodating for food sensitivities. Excellent fusion and cuisine without coming across as pretentious.

An epic dining experience. The dishes are well-sized, well-composed, and, well, delicious. Despite some intimidating menu terms and challenging ingredients here and there, the service is friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

I recently went to Odd duck again with a friend for brunch and was again impressed by their service. The staff were nice and attentive. I wasn t a huge fan of the brunch menu this time. However I did love a particular dish: the wagyu beef. The poached egg paired with the brisket was the perfect combination. I also ordered Sunny Duck egg, Dutch baby, and redfish ceviche.

I always come here when friends are in town and I have to take them somewhere nice out with absolutely DELICIOUS FOOD. Their menu changes, so I would check online what they re serving. But regardless of what they have, I can guarantee it ll be super tasty. Odd duck is a great place for people who are wanting to try new dishes.

Just the best place. Always good. Always different but always delicious and comfortable. One of the best places to go for a semi affordable hangout with good friends. A great place to take folks from out of town. Go here often and you will live a better life.

What an amazing first experience. Lauren was our waitress and I can't say it enough., her customer service was A+, she explained everything with such detail and charisma. Very attentive and her drink recommendations were awesome. Everything I ate was DELICIOUS and flavorful. And even though the servings are small, the meal was very satisfying. I thought I'd be stuffed after sharing four plates but I still had room for desert. Definitely try the Duck Egg and Chocolate Croissant. Thanks Lauren for such great customer service.

Unique food choices that you wont see anywhere else. They even have home made soda. The food was delicious and the pretzel on thier menu was very good. I had a burger that was very tasty even if it was extremely messy as it was dripping everywhere. I came during lunch and the restaurant was full but not overly crowded.

There is nothing odd about the Odd Duck. The staff is friendly and works seamlessly together. The atmosphere delivers a space to dine at leisure. It was clear with every bite to my lips that it was created with tender love, care, and creativity. TLC..C

With all the hype that had surrounded this place and still does, I must say I was slightly underwhelmed. The portions are fairly small for my liking. However if you want some unique menu options and like some unusual dishes then you'll probably like this place. The restaurant itself is quite cool and well decorated.

Made our reservation the same day. Greeted politely, seated immediately. Fun, modern decor. Great selection of small plates yet the portions were ample for two foodies to share. Fresh, bright flavors in the Green Onion Dip (nothing like your childhood memory), Antelope was cooked perfectly and served atop barley. Chicken Nachos were delightfully sturdy and zingy. Fried Oysters were lightly battered sitting atop a Pig Head Gravy with a vegetable slaw surrounding them.

The Odd Duck is certainly not a swan experience. Let's start with the positive 1) we were given a space in the bar in 20 min, even though we didn't have a reservation. 2)The staff is nice enough and our bartender had the decency of explaining the plates were small. He also explained that regularly 2 people need to eat about 5 dishes to feel good and satisfied. We thought he was probably exaggerating, small in TX is large everywhere else. But OMG was he right. THE BAD: The ceviche was very flavorful, but as I say very small for $14. My husband ordered Noodles with chilli and goat cheese, sounds delicious, it didn't look delicious. It looked like a teenager put this plate together, however it tasted good, nothing mindblowing, something I can make at home for way less than $19. Again very little food for a twenty dollar plate. Finally I got Nachos with mushrooms, I wish I hadn't, excessive pepper all over and the cheese was so burnt to the casserole that it was hard to eat. This last plate was seriously bad. Final bill $52 for two people. I was still hungry when I got out of there. So I had actual food at home. My husband asked me if I was disappointed, but not really, I am actually shocked on how there are some places that get away with this type of scam. Never again. Now, this is not personal whatsoever I am sure all the people in the restaurant and the owner are great people, but I have a duty to inform people about this experience. This might actually improve the quality of the food.

Pretty bad experience, starting from seating conditions (very loud due to heavy traffic, 10 ft away from your table) and ending with rude and unprofessional staff. I would think twice before making a reservation here.

WOW! Is all I can say and that's not just for the amazing food but for the service and how the place is run. To say they care about their food and their business is an understatement. We got there about 5:30 on a Saturday and the place was busy but not a wait. We were seated on the covered side patio next to a table of 20 rambunctious bachelorette party goers that chanted and clapped to several rounds of "We Love You (insert name here)" and drunken toasts. The hostess and our server Stephen assured us that they would be leaving in 10 min. because they were on a pub crawl of sorts and had a schedule to keep to. We got it and decided to stick it out. We understand that this restaurant is a business and big parties are their bread and butter 5:30 is a time where they transition between HH and the dinner crowd. However, the big rowdy didn't actually clear out until 30 min later. But to the restaurant's credit they didn't make the big party uncomfortable about leaving slowly and also kept checking with all the tables that were sat close to the big party, apologizing and saying that that things would quite down soon and even gave us a small plate on the house in addition to what we ordered for our patience. Once the ladies cleared out from the restaurant and on to their next destination, we started to receive our food and the party was just a distant memory (we did bond with our fellow diners around us and had a good laugh at the whole ordeal). Now, to the food. The Redfish ceviche was fresh and amazing, Pretzel (youm!...probably should have ordered two), Crab pimento also fresh and tasty, Nachos (a yummy surprise), Sunny duck egg, brown rice, and goat sausage bowl (don't get me wrong, this was GOOD but was over shadowed by everything else we ate), the Achiote marinated pork chop (OMG! Just order this. DO. IT. sooooooooo good!....seriously order it). We order apple cobbler and blue cheese a la mode for dessert but before we got that our server Stephen surprised us with the butter nut squash cake with butter scotch ice cream (as a consolation for putting up with the loud table earlier) and dear lord this was good! Again, the cobbler was tasty but do yourself a favor and get the butter nut squash cake. We will definitely be back. Thanks Stephen and the whole Odd Duck team:)

So i am a mcdonalds, sonic, burger, king panda express loving kinda person. This is not my style. The food was expensive and small. I heard so many people talk about it, that i just wanted to try it. I may not be the best one to write a review. I mean the place was nice the staff was very friendly but the food was just not my taste. Its very modern, and small portioned. So i am going to leave it at if you are a full american plate type person, maybe look at a menu first and figure out if you want to try this sort of thing.

Last night service was great as well as the variety of dishes (served family style) Everything we ordered was over the top very rich and spicy. (we had the sweet potatoes, pretzel, duck egg and something else...don't recall) I love spicy food in almost all settings but in this case it overpowered every other ingredient in the dishes. If we would have been served some sort of crisp or crackers the dishes would have made great dips or spreads as appetizers; maybe we didn't choose proper entrees...We will try it again because it's so close and the dishes on the menu read so well...must have been an off night.

Didn't even end up eating here, even though we were given a hefty gift card. Odd Duck really describes the type of food they have. If you do not like game meat, and offal, then this is not the place for you.

They do have an excellent atmosphere, and a friendly staff.

We gave our gift card to someone who is more open to trying pig face....
