Ok, kids had a great time. Over priced and not updated in 40 years.
Ober was amazing! Really cool animal exhibit and gift shops were very unique. Visit the Leather Lady in the shops. Mountain Coaster, Ice Skating, and Ice Bummer Cars; great time!
Yesterday 12/08 we went skying at Ober. We have been before on a couple occasions and have enjoyed it. Unfortunately, several things made our experience yesterday not enjoyable. First, the total time we stood in line to get our lift tickets and rentals took an hour and 15 minutes. I mentioned it to the staff and I got some vague answer about COVID slowing everything down...which was a laughable explanation...because they were hardly doing anything regarding COVID. Second, there was no spacing in the lines for COVID-19 safety. Literally, we were funneled through stanchions and surrounded by people shoulder to shoulder for over an hour. I don t get freaked out by COVID, but they weren t even trying. A bit ridiculous. Third, once we finally made it out to the ski slopes, the snow making machines were so loud it was deafening at points. I understand the need to make snow, but holy cow...you can t even hear yourself think at some points. Honestly, I m not sure I ll be back. It s just not worth the $70 for that kind of experience.
Staff is nice except for the concession guy selling popcorn and other foods.
Awesome fun place to visit while in Gatlinburg. The mountain coaster and Alpine slide are sooooooo fun
This place is huge. There's plenty of employees so if you need help it's not hard to find.
First time skiing, and it was great thanks to Ober Garlinburg! It was $60 to rent skis (lift is free) during the off season (Feb). Lessons are $20 and worth it! If you can, get Conner. We all felt comfortable around him, and he is friendly even after the course! The entire crew at the park was goofy and fun. We joked with people everywhere we went and never had a bad experience. The slopes are fun. We definitely recommend 2 days during off season if you want to learn. The place is a little older and needs some TLC. Always odd to see places that mimic Germany. Food was pretty solid and the beer was reasonably priced for this kind of place. This is really the best bang for your buck if you're looking to work on your skiing, have fun, and not break the bank. 10/10
Fun place to take children and have some fun. It is reasonably priced and a little something to do for everyone
Honestly not all that great a few shops and some rides that's it
Big hill look scary. Me want ski down big hill, but not enough snow at time. Me look at animals instead. Very nice experience me thinks.
This is a really fun place, it has a huge ice skating rink , arecade games and rides puss more.
The drive here is scenic, gorgeous, but if you don't do well driving up very steep hills it will be challenging. We drove a stick shift and it was fun. If it rains all day, no refunds. The place can be confusing, more signs are needed. To go on the Alpine slide you have to go outside walk straight to the end where you see a chair lift. Take the chair lift half way to the slide. The chair life view is great and we are looking forward to going to the top next time. The carts and track for the Alpine Slide are definitely in need of an update, thankfully they still brake. Wait isn't long. You can ride fast like my hubby, the workers kept yelling slow down! You attached are literally in charge of surviving or not. If you go to fast you can fly out of the track, apparently many have. The Alpine Coaster was great. They give you great instructions before and during (lots of signs on the track telling you what to do). Only thing that seemed up to date and you can go very fast or slow. It's scenic and fun! Nice skating rink, not full size, but nice. We didn't get to see the nature habitat. It's great to visit once, but it's very busy and crowded. When they say possible rain, go. You can buy tickets individually when the rides open. It's what we did and the ride went from a 2 hour wait to 1 hour.
Oktoberfest needed more convenient ways to get german food. More for children than adults. Needed more outdoor activities.
Tram ride is packed full like sardines and often has crying kids but the view is enjoyable. The mountain coaster is fun but they charge quite a bit for everything so be ready to pay.
The aerial tram was the coolest thing, costed me $14 for a round trip. You have many adventures to do here will take almost a day for you to cover!!
Amazing place. Make sure you buy the wristband and stay the whole day to take advantage of the activities they offer. You won't regret it. Bring the whole family.
Not sure about other seasons but unless youre ready to wait 3+ hours in a line for the tram do not go during the Christmas holidays . After only being able to purchase the tram tickets at the bottom waited for 3 hours to ride the tram to the top once at the top was told that almost all of the attractions were sold out and the ones that we did do had to wait for extremely long times . Communication could be better wish they told us at the bottom what rides/attractions were open at the top if I knew that half of them were closed/sold out I probably wouldn't have waited . Very disappointing and waste of time
Lots of fun for the folks who live in the south and don't get snow!
Lots to do. Wide variety of options. Even just watching skaters on the ice rink is fun. If not for the rain, would have used the amenities.
A beautiful and fun summit for young and old, with summer slides, games, mazes, a small zoo, and a ski hall
We went for the coaster and we're very disappointed! The people in front of us went down very slow holding their brake so even though we stopped and waited for them to go a little ways we got stopped several times. If you got any where close to the next cart you would be stopped, which is obviously a safety thing but it would've been nice to know ahead of time especially since you can't always see the person ahead of you. The entire Ober Gatlinburg was very outdated and rundown, also a bit pricey considering that place.
Horrible place! I have never encountered a place with so many rude employees. 95% of them were so unfriendly! It was also a rainy day so all outside activities were closed, we went inside to ice skate and the horrible cashier told us the ice was closed till 430, it was only 3! Ugh. I would not go back to this place and i would not recommend it to anyone. We had so much more fun at Anakeesta!
Super expensive to do anything. Looks like a nearly defunct carnival in most parts. Shop yourself a favor, save money. A real same because I remember it being nice when I was a child, but of course I'm 33. I wish I'd skipped the whole thing and saved money.
Arrived about 630pm to look around and purchase tickets to take the tram to town and then back. The website says ticket sales end a half hr. B4 closing and they close at 9pm.. Everything started closing around 6.50ish and we were told only the restaurant was open till 9pm inside.
Even the tram ticket was closed but we were told we could drive to town to purchase them?
Nice to see. Could use some upgrading and modernization though. Some fixin up is what I mean.
Tons of things to do and not too expensive. A $19 wrist band can keep kids entertained all day and the snow tubing is awesome. Just make sure to buy your snow tubing tickets ahead of time and show up early!
Amazing area, didn't ride the tram up, but the view is AMAZING! Went to the top on a ski lift, and just that view! They also had decent food and entertainment for the kids, which is also great. Had a wonderful time here, would totally recommend!
My boyfriend and I went skiing for his 29th birthday and we had an absolute blast! I do know the lines can get really really long so thankfully we got there early and did not have to go through that. Staff was extremely nice as well
Loved snow tubing, but would recommend going during day time hours. The magic carpet ride started messing up because of how cold it was, kinda made you feel like you may fall trying to get to the top. But otherwise a great time and helpful staff.
I loved it here! It is a must see. The view is wonderful and plenty to do.
Ober is a fun entertainment center, with options for all ages and seasons. We enjoyed our time, although it does have a rushing atmosphere. Maybe it was the crowd, but we felt like the operators and service crew were going through the paces to make the day go by. One guy with the Mohawk dreadlocks went out of his way to help personalize our experience.
Otherwise, it s an expensive playground.
We had a great time here. We parked in the lot rather and did not take the tram. Lines were short and waits were very minimal. When we first arrived the mountain coaster had an hour wait but was a walk on by the time we decided to go over there. Staff was very friendly. My 8 year old daughter is already begging to go back!
Tons of different things to do in one location. The alpine slide and the ski mountain coaster were so much fun and we took great pictures from the tramway and the scenic chair lift
I have visited Gatlinburg many times and this was the first time I made it to Ober Gatlinburg. It was a good time and I will go again! They're are more ski lifts there. They have indoor ice skating, luge style slides, wildlife area, merry go round, ice bumper cars and much more. Through most of the month of October they have Octoberfest. They had a nice selection of draft beers to choose from, most of which I had not tried before. The aerial tram ride over was fun too!
Depending on what you like they have something for everyone
Went during December2020 and hours are 12 to 7. Arrived at 11:45 and waited 2 hours, 15 minutes to check in, pay, get shoes, and get ski rental. Helmet cost extra. Not efficient! Will not revist.
Very kid friendly. Adults not so much. Expected a great October Fest celebration. ..again not so much
Definitely a dated tourist trap, but we drove up and enjoyed the beautiful mountain views. A couple of nice shops but the food leaves something to be desired.
This was the first time a have been here. My wife has been several times. I really enjoyed it. We drove up and the drive was beautiful. Next time I will take the skylift. No dogs allowed though.
Nice place but expensive for kids to play in snow. Wonderful fudge.
We had a lot of fun! There is a lot to do up there. Fun for children and adults too!!
Great place, fun and friendly. Lost my phone while there, they found it and returned it before we left.
Complete tourist trap...better bring the plastic and expect to use it. Much like Gatlinburg in general, this place is only a bargain if you plan on spending the day and getting the wristband...otherwise it is $7 a ride for most kids attractions. Tram is $14 round trip for adults...if you make the drive up its $5 for parking. Full of overpriced eateries and junk trinket shops.
I had to give 1 star or it would ve been a 0!!
We went to buy tickets for 2 groups of 4 at 2 different windows and one person sold tickets and the other didn t and told my sister that was the other windows problem not his!
They have a lounge/restaurant, the 2 bartenders were very Very rude and provided terrible service 1:40PM on 3-24-21!! There was only 1 table of people when we walked in (dead).
