The only one star review I've ever given anything....

The only one star review I've ever given anything. Worst guest services I've ever experienced. (Short version: theft is a big problem there and you will not receive any staff support of any kind for anything.) The slopes are mediocre but ok to go to if you are new and just need some slush to learn in. That said if for any reason you have to talk with any staff members you're going to have a bad time. I've only had to deal with them twice in my years of going and both times they've been completely useless and very rude. Once their lifts broke down on our first trip up the hillside and stranded us for two hours. They refused to issue refunds for a considerable amount of time and when they eventually decided to upon pressure from other visitors it took three hours of waiting in line to get "vouchers". After I finally got to the front of the line I found out that the hold up was that every individual guest had to argue untill a voucher was granted. I once called about some gear we mistakenly left and was treated with rudeness and inconsideration. I was transferred to lines that didn't answer and hung up on several times. Never did get any kind of honest answer from anyone. Another time we rented a board from them for a friend of mine only to have one of the binding straps flat out fall off because someone didn't screw them in properly. Crooked company. Hate it too. They are super close to me and it's where I took my first board down but I just don't feel like I can morally stand to give them business they don't deserve. Hopefully some better staff/management will take over someday.

This is the 85th time we ve been on a ski mountain this season. Ober Gatlinburg is the lowest quality, poor maintenance most greedy, packed to a new dangerous level. First, we got here an hour and a half before opening, 10 family members in 2 cars, only to find out there is no parking and we were sent to get the air tram (which we did plan to take at some point today as a ride but we weren t planning to be forced to take it for between $10-$17 a person). We waited on a 2 1/2 (!) hours packed line to get on our ride. Mind you I m writing this review during Covid times but even for regular times I m 100% sure they ve reached over 500% legal capacity. You will be charged for every breath you take here. there is no more than one and a half slopes, the kids area is full of Slush, The snow blowers won t work throughout the day zero maintenance and only 4 bathroom stools at the ladies bathroom for this entire place. I am writing this review as we wait to get out of here the place closes at seven yet, we are standing on another two hours and 45 minutes line to get on the only way to get out of here again, the air tram. Zero social distancing, we ve tried to get a cab to come take us to our cars but there is an hour and a half wait to get a driver. This is a total scam. Maybe I m from New York and a little bit used to high maintenance and following the rules maybe it s a state issue or lack of enforcement, but to me this is not a way to be served as a client nor to run a business, not even if I got a family vacation for free on this mountain I wouldn t return here in 100 years.

If there were 0 stars that's what I would enter. The place is outdated and expensive. The staff is extremely rude. They let us enter the parking (and pay) when all rides were closed due to state inspection, and didn't tell us before we paid. They would not let us come back later even though we waited 2 hours for things to open with no luck. Dishonest treatment. We should be told before paying that the facility is closed.

Had a great time until we found out the scenic lift ride had closed at 5:00 pm (went to ride it around 5:20). No where on the ticket or at the ride does it have hours of operation. Asked for a credit and all they would offer was tickets for ice skating, which we already had paid for. It s a shame that lack of consideration from guest services ruined an otherwise awesome day.

Ober in Gatlinburg is very laid back in spring. There arent many people since it's dead season for tourists. I rode the tram to the shops for $8.
We took the scenic lift for $8 to the top of the mountain. There is a red green colorblind binocular at the top of the scenic lift for you to see the mountains. My boyfriend is red green collor blind so it was very neat that he had that to use.
There is a cute little zoo with animals who look well kept. If you visit it dont miss the exhibit inside above the otters. There are owls, skunks, raccoons, snakes, squirrels, etc. I think most of the animals in the exhibit are native to Tennessee. Not so sure about otters being native but everything else may be.
The shops there are kind of cheap and sell knickknacks but the attraction are nice. Good for a date.

Many activities for children and families. My favorite thing to do is ride the scenic chairlift. At the top of the lift, there's normally a bluegrass band playing and it's a great view of the mountains. There is also a puzzle store that has lots of challenging puzzles.

Visited 03/2021: A lot of fun for people from all ages. Staff was very helpful and went above and beyond expectations. Offered other attractions in exchange for the tram tickets which was under maintenance. First time snow tubing and was amazing. This is even one of the places where snow tubing is available until very late; which is very convenient since people can do it without having very cold weather. They also offer plenty of activities for the while family in both winter and summer. I guess they could update the place a little bit since it starts to look old. Also not healthy food options available on site.

Ober Gatlinburg is so much fun! We went with the family as we were in town visiting them. This was a very cool experience. It was very fun to ride the chair lift to the top of the mountain and ride back down on an individual car self controlled roller coaster. This was my favorite part. This place was bustling with tons of families during the discounted days. It was a great day for family fun. If we could ve stayed longer to do everything we would ve!

Great place for the entire family. The snow tubing is great for the young and old. The scenic chair lift has the most amazing views! It is worth the trip! You can drive up and park for $5 all day or ark downtown Gatlinburg and take the tram up to the top of the mountain.

The tube runs were awfully short. Ice skating was fun but the skates were pretty dull. Overall pretty fun especially if ski season were still open. Spring break is a weird time in the Smokey's. I would come mid April as opposed to mid-March. Otherwise January/February during ski season.

I liked it here for my first time with my husband. However, I think that Over needs to set a price$$ that covers the tram ride and ALL of the entertainment like snow tubing, skiing, animals, snow coaster, etc. If you want to shop that's wonderful because, I like to shop too but, there has to be a set price for everything else. The people who work there are so nice, and helpful. If they don't know the answer then they'll get someone else who does. I'd go here again. There's something for everyone.

It's been a long time since I was here last, and it's changed a lot! Seems like a lot of things are still under construction. We are lunch at one if the cafe's, which was pretty good. Our group had pizza, sandwiches, fries and onion rings. No one had any complaints. We opted not to ride the attractions. Felt that they were a little over priced, although it looked like fun! You can ice skate, ice bumper cars, an individual roller coaster down the mountain and ski lift rides across the mountain. We will definitely come back on our next trip!

Tram staff was so friendly. Tram up was a little crowded. Staff on the mountain top was hit and miss, but the gent on the ice bumper cars was so conscientious. Serious but on top of it! Herman on the tram down was hilarious.

The wait is not worth the adventure. Waited 2 hours for tickets and 2 hours to get in the tram. There are so many other things to do in Gatlinburg. And also you can take a drive up, you don't have to take the tram.

Have been going here for years! But noticed last couple of times that things aren't as great as they once were.
After finally getting to the gate to pay to park, asked if the activities we were interested in were available (seeing bears, ice bumper cars, ice skating and chair lift). Was told yes and planned on getting an arm band for each of the children. Also asked for the handicapped parking for my mom. Promised there was handicapped spots still available up top, that was untrue.
Then go to get tickets, to be informed that the bears were not out, chair lift was not running and no bumper cars going either.
Just a pain to wait in that long line of traffic and be told these were available. Not to mention not getting a handicapped spot and my elderly mother having to walk far, on a walker.
So waited in line at information, to tell them we were leaving (after 10 minutes) and wanted the parking money back. Then told to go wait in another line at customer service. Then lady there asked for me to point out what it was that we wanted to do that wasn't available. It was the bears, chair lift and ice bumper cars. But she said that since the ice skating and carousel were still available, there was plenty for us to do with armbands. Um, No!! Not gonna buy four $22 armbands for just a couple of activities. So paid $8.00 to park for NOTHING. Ridiculous!!
Loved this place for years, but things have gradually went downhill. Last time was not good, but this time was awful! Just hardly any trying from staff and huge lack of customer service. At least we have good memories of how it used to be.

Not pet friendly! I refuse to make my dogs service animals. First off I have three animals I take with me at all times and second off if I see an animal that needs to be rescued I will pick it up and we take it to the vet and I look for a new home for it. I travel a lot and driving around through towns that your pets are not allowed to go where you can go. other than that the ride on the tram was alright.
