Very pretty ride up on tram. Pretty view from top. Nice people. Expensive. How ever there is several fun things todo there. Such as shopping, cool rides, ice skating, shopping, hiking and shopping........plus much more... Must go. But be ready to spend money. However you can drive to ober Gatlinburg and sight see for free.... Well the cost of gas. They also have bears. So cute. Go go go. Love it there been there twice in seven months.

Their entire staff are incredibly RUDE. One employee actually yelled at me when I asked if he could repeat what he was saying because he was muffled talking through his mask. He proceeded to pull his mask down and yell what he was trying to say. Worst place I visited during my trip to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Let s start by saying that the ice skating was lots of fun. Tubing was also fun. The ice skating area is nice and has some shops and food. The reason for the 3 stars, is the lodge restaurant, it was horrible. We arrived hungry, and we saw the restaurant, so that was the first place we went. That was our mistake. The food was awful. I m sure it s all just frozen food that s heated up to serve. The lodge itself could also use some renovations. I suggest trying the food down near the ice skating rink.
Awesome place to go and spend the day. Plenty of stuff to do for all ages. Ice bumper cars were definitely the highlight for us. Small zoo the kids will enjoy as well.
Fun place to spend the day in Gatlinburg. Definitely recommend taking the tram up as it give great views of the surrounding mountains. Lots to do once you reach the top. The ice bumper cars were a blast, and the animal exhibit was quaint. You definately want to try the Alpine Slide and Ski Mountain coaster. Parking is just down the street and to your left in downtown Gatlinburg, just down past the tram station.
Good for family fun. Arcade is very old, half the games are broken. But they aren't very expensive, either. Indoor ice skating and bumper cars is fun. Nice small shops and restaurants.
Stew, Philip, Joey and Billy were amazing!! My friend dropped her phone off the ski lift and Billy drove up the mountain and searched a creek to find it!! The costumer service here is amazing. Everyone was so kind and helped out. Thank y all!!
I don't recommend going during COVID. Everything is either a 2 hour wait or sold out. The ice skating rink looked like it wasn't full though and it was a nice rink. I wish they had a snow play area for the kids. My kids wanted to see snow so bad since we live in FL. So for us, we spent $10 to park and walk up there and go into their little stores and that's it. It was very crowded inside as well.
Went here with a group. Chilly, bright sunny morning. Great for a view of early fall. Enjoyable tram ride up the mountain from downtown Gatlinburg. Once up to this level noted there were some activities going on. They were getting ready for winter season. Snow making about to get underway. Mountain coaster & other rides open. They will have ski trails & other winter activities open soon. Then took the chair lift from this level higher up the mountain. Simply gorgeous. Spectacular views . Even though end of October there was still a lot of color yet to develop. Nice bluegrass band at top which was very enjoyable. Mountains were so majestic. After trip on the chair lift we stopped and enjoyed Oktoberfest in their restaurant. Food was very good and band even better. It has been a long time since I have done the chicken dance but it was fun. People from all walks of life & ages were having such a good time together. This show is performed till end of October. No cover charge & meal reasonably priced. Wait service was good. Nice variety of beers and wine too. There were outside bands & music too. Shopping was about average. Lots of Smoky Mountain gift ideas. There were a number of people ice skating. Skating was inside so you could do anytime of year. Skates are available. It was a nice day. Over could use a tad bit more loving care in spots but overall a nice experience. There also was a live animal experience but did not participate. Most activities are ala carte so you may want to check out costs if you have a big family. I would certainty say ride the chair lift!
Crisp fresh air, wonderful hospitality, everyone we met was friendly and on neighborly behavior locals & visitors alike, which is very unique in today's national climate.
Tubing is fun! Get here early and beat the line. Should get at least 5 trips down before the line backs up. I got 8 trips down before calling it quits with 30 minutes left.
Big tim fun start to finish and i don't ski. The tram ride up and down had breathtaking views, and at the top in the lodge, food, stores and an active ice skating rink. Neat for the family.
Don t waste your money on snow tubing. Worst concept of a snow tubing experience possible. Staff is rude and non helpful. Complete chaos at the start. And they sell so many tickets you may get to tune one whole time. Complete disappointment. Ober Gatlinburg will never get another dime from me.
Lots of fun! Order your snow tub tickets before because they sale out fast. On a sold out session you can expect to go down the hill 4 to 5 times in the 90 mins
The line was insanely long waiting hours in the cold but well worth the wait . Even with all the people once you get inside they have ice skating and of course the ski slopes where amazing. Lines go fast once you are on the slope and ready to snow board or ski. Very helpful and friendly staff at ober Gatlinburg we will definitely be coming back next year for another fun family vacation.
Definitely a bit dated and worn out feel once you get to the top, and the bear exhibit is pretty sad, however the cable car up was worth the money itself, a beautiful view of Gatlinburg enveloped in mountains!
Interesting place. Take the tram from downtown Gatlinburg and enjoy the view as you go up the mountain. If you feel like taking a curvey mountain road you can drive to the top. Parking can be very limited at times just to give you a heads up if you decide to drive...There is year round ice skating, restaurant cafe's and much more to keep you occupied for most of the day. Skiing and tubing in the winter.. At least plan on staying several hours. Riding the tram down to Gatlinburg at night gives you a beautiful view of the city lights downtown.
This is totally beautiful and nice for the price considering you go higher and go to other activities than the other things that are around Gatlinburg. They should clean the "car" more since you could barely see from the windows.
What a waste. Started up mountain 2 hours early. After 1.5 hours in traffic myself and kids started walking and wife drove back down mountain. So there was one wasted ticket. Wife tried to catch Alpine Tram but line was too long and she could make it up in time to tube.
Once we walked up mountain the snow tubing conveyor kept breaking. Some of us got to tube 3 times and some 4. What a waste. It use to be a good place but things change. I understand they can't control traffic. But they could have done something for everyone since lift stayed down most of time
Had a great time here this week. The staff was friendly and helpful. They seemed to be following all the covid rules every place we went on property. The place was moderately clean but a little dated and could use some fresh paint and pressure washing. They are priced fair considering the venue. Will return.
Looks to be a super fun place. We did not get to experience the whole park due to the weather. I will for sure go back and do all there is to do. The team ride up was awesome and we got to see some bears. The ski lift to the top was amazing and the views were incredible. Very professionally run. A really cool experience in Gatlinburg.
Was ok had a rude staff. As soon as we walked back in from the bear area we was out of breathe and was trying to breathe and the staff rudely told my husband to put his mask back on. She was very rude about it
Customer service was disappointing all around. No one was pleasant for the exception of the ski/snowboarding instructors. There was no guidance on where to go for anything, the employees were too worried about talking to eachother then helping people that did have questions. For a tourist town they really need to step up the customer service game. Not to mention there is NO social distancing, half the people are not wearing their masks correctly. They cram you in lines shoulder to should as well as the tram.
We had really high hopes for Ober, but it was not a good experience. If you are coming here as an experienced snowboarder/skier or to visit the lodge I m sure your opinion is different but I caution those who are trying to experience these activities for the first time. The day we went the slopes opened at 12. We were in line to park at 9:30 and in the rental line by 10:00. Rentals open at 11:00, and from the moment they opened until we made it through all the lines, it took 2.5 hours. By this time our kids were starved so we waited another hour in a food line just to get some lunch. We finally walked out to the slopes at 2:45, and had to wait for a group lesson at 3:30. The group ski lesson was less than helpful (I can t speak to the kid lessons, but it looked like my kids enjoyed themselves) but that s not even the worst part. I don t think there is a limit on how many people can be there, because it was dangerously overcrowded. People were getting ran into left and right. The bunny hill was at the end of a large slope, and at the other end of the bunny hill was a little hill that numerous beginners almost went over. This place is not safe for beginners, especially small children. This was so disappointing. Our kids overall had a miserable time because we all were just exhausted by the time we got to the snow. I hope they start limiting the amount of lift tickets they sell and figure out a better process. I will say though, all the staff we dealt with were very kind.
We enjoyed several hours here at the skating rink and ice bumper cars. Most outdoor activities closed due to weather. We had 3 kids and they had plenty to do. Lots of staff present, and several little stores to shop in. A little bit dated, but still a great place. I would come back again.
We had a lot of fun here. There's plenty to do to keep the kids busy. A lot of stuff needs updated in my opinion but it was still a good time. There was a little playground with a ball pit that the younger kids loved while the older ones were on rides that were too scary for the little ones. I really appreciated that being there.
Always a nice trip into Gatlinburg when we go to Dollywood. Love the shops and today I ride the chair lift and Alpine Slide for the 1st time in 29 years. Great places to eat to. Check out Hot Diggity Dog. Great Dogs other foods and wonderful staff.
They really need to work on crowd control and personnel management. There are huge lines for everything because they only have 1 or 2 people working at stations when there are many open spots for people to work. It seemed there were more employees wondering around doing nothing then there were actually working. Normally I understand there are always going to be people running around doing work but these people are just standing around not engaging with any customers. Overall it was a waste of time coming here and I will most likely not come back.
It s pretty cool what you can do there but the staff is overall rude and they re so so so greedy. I saw like 4 signs that said drink not included with combos in the cafeteria. They have overpriced really bad school-lunch like food. And the rental for things is also very overpriced. Side walk near slope is EXTREMELY unsafe. Saw a woman bust her head open, 3 guys slipped, and a child also.
The aerial tram could have been really awesome if we could ve been able to see out the window on the ride up or down. They had us packed in so tight you couldn t move or see out the windows to take pictures. Once we got to the top that was kind of cool but a little outdated. I would highly recommend doing the anakeesta tram instead they only seat 6 in their gondola cabins and you have plenty of room to take pictures and see the sights.
Nice time. I was very impressed with Gatlinburg as a whole. Very nice surprise. We normally stay in Pigeon Forge. Next time we will stay in Gatlinburg again but maybe near town. Lots of shopping and eatery
We visited twice this past week and the staff was amazing. The customer service was great from everyone and the views from the top of the scenic chair lift were unbeatable. However, the place itself could use a little maintenance as far as restrooms. On the first visit, we came up to Ober on the aerial tram and couldn't believe that they were still allowing people to pour in when they were so busy. We totally understand that it was a holiday week, but there was such a long wait for everything that it didn't make sense that they were still letting people come over on the tram. Another thing that bothered us was the wildlife encounter. The animals were all in very small enclosures and seemed to be in distress.
