I recently had my grandchild admitted here for 2 days..generally good care but there were just too many young interns - many of them in groups of 4-5. They were all courteous doctors in the making and we had no issues in helping them hone their investigation skills but kind of got tired after repeated response to same set of questions. They perhaps need to plan this in a more structured manner and recognize that it is not generally not easy for us to identify who is a doctor or who is a student..

5 STARS for the doctors and nurses. NUH gets 1 STAR for overworking its staff. Firstly, I would like to commend and applaud Dr. Chelvin Sng, the nurses and the technicians at the eye clinic who have worked ceaselessly, tirelessly and patiently in caring for my almost 90-year-old father during his routine eye check up on Thursday. It was a very exhausting 4 hours for my disabled father due to NUH's shortage of staff. Mistakes will always happen with understaffing. My father was subjected to the wrong eye test at the testing area. The actual one was postponed to December as my father was already exhausted. NUH is very fortunate to have Dr. Sng, who saved the day with her grace, kindness and graciousness.
However, NUH would be very wise to increase its staff to eliminate any future mistakes which could be detrimental to health and life.

my experience at NUH was very good. By doctor was always very happy to see me every appointment. The nurses are kind too. My doctor was a funny person and I like him alot. However, now I'm seeing a different doctor which is quite sad :(

2nd visit. Unprofessional, impatient ENT doctor who doesn't know what she's talking about. I talked to the pharmacist and got a list of drug side effects that the Dr didn't even know about. Dr said omeprozole doesn't havesside effect of diarrhea or dizziness.... Google it. How can she call herself an ent specialist. So many other things she said just didn't make any sense. Too bad I can't pick doctors in public clinics. Just bad luck. What a waste of money.

I was referred to NUH by the polyclinic last May for my consultation. NUH called two weeks later and confirmed my appointment for 25July. A few days later, they brought forward it to 15July via SMS. Then another day later they again brought forward to 14July. Both changes were made without consulting me whether if I could make it. When I called back to say the date was not suitable, they said you can come back next year because they are all fully booked.

Waited 40 mins at the pharmacy for nothing because doctors prescription didn't get through to the pharmacy... and I had to personally go back up to the specialist clinic to enquire

Horribly inefficient hospital and service. Spent a total of 1 hour plus just waiting for medicine

this hospital has services that are more advanced compared to other hospitals in Singapore, for example for organ transplant. So I appreciate that. But like other public hospitals it suffers from excessive bureaucracy, not enough public funding, lack of qualified workforce. It's sad to see that in a rich Country, even when and where public funding doesn't seem to be a great challenge in general, the political commitment to provide great healthcare is missing. Why wait for months for an appointment?

The SOP of the NUH is terrible than what was xpected of an old hospital, than those newer hospital..Service of Doctor was sub standard, taking into account, the fee charged for different consultants level.I went for eye screening and instead of calling out the queue number, the staff yelled out patient's name.Where's the privacy in the interest of the patient's data protection? The Dr also showed her impatience n started raising her voice, when I double checked my doubts of doing screening. Not even bothered to tell me where to go for the pharmacy dept.Hopeless standard compared to JB public hospital.

The most terrible service I ever had. Extremely long queues, appointment time never work - you need to wait additional 30-40 minutes even if you came to appointment time. Pharmacy takes infinity time to serve you. Just don t waist your time.

I have been calling the hospital hotline for appointments but all I get is delayed appointment dates not only that the staff also being rude on the phone. And another experience is that the hospital is a daylight robbery as an appointment will only last 10mins and charge insanely amounts of you don't have insurance. Would not recommend

Very bad experience here. The process is bad, discharge is bad. Waiting is definitely killer. The timing mentioned was never accurate. Try to admit yourself to have a feel of what I can't use words to mention. Disappointed to the maximum. Some staff n Doctors are really nice. But overall organization is terrible to maximum.

Overheard a few conversations (over about 3hours) between a nurse, Yang from China and an elderly over age of 85. Whenever the nurse went to her for some form of treatment, she would groan loudly in pain. It was evident in the way the nurse spoke with the elderly, compassion was missing. Yang would often utter to her, "Let me do my work," It was until a point the elderly told the nurse, "God will punish you." And the reply from the nurse, "Auntie, God will punish you first." I was appalled.

You will feel like as though you are in a prison.

You will feel like as though you are in a prison.

Please never ever admit into the A&E here. Or don't even come here, if you can. It takes 7hrs to be admitted. But wait! You are admitted to the acute medical unit first, so that is the place where you will be at for observation with other people. 30 beds in one unit. The sheets looks like they have never been changed. There were holes in it. How budget can the hospital get? Looking through at the other reviews, everyone says the same thing. If I could, I will give a zero. 7pm was told that the bed was ready, but the transferred happened at 3am. The food they serve is not even safe for eating. My friend have a fish bone stuck in her throat. And it took more than hours for a doctor to attend to her.

It's like what everyone says, NUH is a hospital that you go in and never come out.

She requested to be discharged and they have been delaying it for 2 nights. How can deny a patient from discharging?

I would advise everyone to go get a shield plan with rider and you get covered for private hospital where the staff are more professional and the waiting time is reduced drastically.

Went to NUH A&E on a Saturday rainy evening with low expectations, as have encountered long waiting times before. I had UTI symptoms and from past occurances, have been told before by GP to visit a doctor once the symptoms develop. It was surprisingly not as crowded and took an hour from registration to collecting medication and payment. Nurse who checked me at triage was also patient and nice.

However it all went down the drain during the consultation. Dr Nieh rattled off quickly in an impatient tone that the results from the urine analysis confirms UTI, that it is a very common condition and that I can visit GP or polyclinic for this, implying that I don t need to go to an A&E to get diagnosed. It s just disgusting how he simply dismissed and trivialized my condition. It was Saturday evening at 9pm where polyclinics and GPs around my residential area are closed. You think I want to splurge $140 for A&E charges for what he called a not so serious and common condition? Anyone who had UTI before would know the immense pelvic pain and discomfort. And it is a bloody infection that if not treated early can lead to more serious problems with the kidney.

I would have given this a 5 star experience if the doc had shown more empathy and concern.

Would have given zero rating if I could. Brought my husband here on Nov 2018 due to severe abdominal pain. We suspected appendicitis but the ER doctor ruled it out and put the pain down to muscle pain inspite of abnormal blood test results and sent us home. A couple of days later, we went to SGH this time and appendicitis was their assessment based on blood tests and ultrasound and later on ct scan. His appendix perforated and he underwent emergency appendectomy. Stupid and proud doctor who didn t bother consulting with her senior staff before giving out her diagnosis could have caused him his life!

They took my blood and lost the blood samples. And told me to go back to the hospital the next day for them to take my blood again. I had already wasted a few hours the day waiting for my forgetful doctor who forgot to order my blood test and then finally had the blood taken, and then they told me they lost my blood samples, along with 6 other patients???!!!!

Waiting time is a Killer..NEVER ever visit this hospital when you require urgent medical attention! You will never receive it on time. Took them 4 to 5 hrs to attend to patients when they only had less than 10 walk-in at A&E. Every 1 star review describing their experience on waiting time is true. Absolutely ridiculous!

Visited clinic G on the 16/6/2020 for a yearly post birth checkup. Although the waiting time was long, the service received from Dr Roy Ng and Nurse Marlene was excellent. They were thorough in their explanation and made sure I felt comfortable and understood everything. They were also very jovial and friendly. Thank you Dr Roy Ng and Nurse Marlene from clinic G.

Accident and EMERGENCY...in a hospital that boasts of a quality policy, "Patients Our Focus".

My brother who has very little vision left (glaucoma) was rushed to NUH A&E at about 7pm.

First review...diagnosed as infection of the eyes, so bad that the eyes were swollen, very red and he's unable to open.

Still waiting for the ophthalmologist after 3 hours! The danger of him losing what little vision he has left is lost on Drs in the EMERGENCY Dept!

Given that NUH is an acute hospital, if Patients were really The Focus, they could have summoned on-call eye specialists! Ludicrous to think they couldn't find any for 3 hours (regardless of purportedly being busy with other emergency cases!)

We had our Daughter here. Absolutely fabulous service. Starting from Dr. Mary Rouff guiding my Wife all the way, during the C section great job by Dr Rouff, the surgeon accompanying her, the Nurses, the anaesthetic. We stayed here for 4 days, again fabulous care. Professional, always at hand, always felt secure with the baby at their care. I m not commenting about food, room, linens, curtains because that s not what we were here for. We as normal and residents of singapore came here to get the best medical care for ourselves(my Wife and our newborn) and we got the best professional medical service. Thanks NUH and thanks everyone.

I read some of the reviews on here and people don't know what they are talking about. I'm from Canada and we have 6-10 hour wait times in hospitals. I didn't even wait 1 hour here to see a doctor. I wasn't even an emergency case!

Not professional and shabby work.

Not professional and shabby work.

My sister have a cut on her face and required 2 times of stitches just becos the 1st doctor just anyhow did the stitches that was too tight and requires to do a 2nd stitches.

Do you need to let your love ones to have the same suffering in order to wake up and be more professional in your works and uphold the oaths to serve people and save life?

The patients are not test subjects.

Is the management doing something to improve the waiting time and service standard?

- Most procedures are overpriced and fluctuating in price heavily.
- Not very attentive email support.
- They are not frank about the costs before showing you the actual invoice.
- Operation failed for (success rate is normally 80%).

They did not improve their service despite the low ratings and reviews. I was giving my feedback to a nurse about how inefficient the services they provide.
My uncle supposed to discharge at 1 pm, if they are efficient enough, they should already prep the medicine an hour earlier. We had to wait for almost 3 hours for the medication and still waiting now.
I asked the nurse and found out that they(the pharmacy side) missed the medicine prep. This is unacceptable.
There s no prayer room, and I need to pray on time.

Certainly one of the best hospitals that is teaching the batches of high quality medical students who go out to become re-knowned specialists! NUS/NUH collaboration is unlike any other in the world! World Class and beyond!

I have been to this hospital regularly, once admitted in emergency, and multiple times for checkups. In my experience this is a very good medical center and hospital. Good doctors, well behaved and friendly staff, clear processes and practices, nice queue management and reasonable prices. I trust this hospital and have great experience here every time ! Thank you NUH

I had to reschedule my daughter's appointment due to her new semester class schedule. After navigating through the online service to get the date and time slot available, I had a rude shock. NUH called me and asked me why I changed my appointment because I have no appointment in the first place but I said I received a reminder of my appointment. After checking, they confirmed and how come, 2 same names, huh. Then they informed the dates and time slots shown means nothing, everyday is available. I asked, what's the point of online appointment, she said so that we can contact you to give an actual date and time available. I was so surprised when she casually asked me how about January next year. What a hospital!!

worst experience i've ever had in the hospital emergency! I thought that I would be directly taken care of on the bed. Turns out it was just a regular clinic which i have to wait for HOURS just to get called for the first check up. I was crying in pain while waiting to be called. I asked the nurse but they told me to wait again. I asked twice because it has been two hours already, and finally they call me! im sure my turn was skipped many times. I was there for 4 hours in total, mostly for the waiting game. If i dont have to pay upfront, im sure i already leave the hospital early and better stay at home.
