The employees at this resort are really fantastic. Everyone is super friendly and accommodating. They speak pretty great English. Something on this 6 day trip made myself and my spouse extremely ill. This was not our first trip out of the country so we knew to not drink the water or brush our teeth with it. We were sick for 6 days straight. And still sick when I arrived home. I could not drink the coffee. The food I could eat was not good in my personal opinion. The buffet food was disappointing to say the least. The vendors on the beach would come up to you literally every 5 minutes. Not relaxing. The beach was absolutely gorgeous. Clear. Warm. Hardly any washed up seaweed. The Secrets staff on the beach were excellent!
Skip the "presentation". Please. They had us there for over 2 hours.
I was somewhat disappointed that so many events were going on at the next resort, Now. I thought there would be loud music and all kinds of events in the Adults only resort. It was dead. I didn't want to spend my vacation with families and children. That is why we chose the adults only. I was also confused why our maid cleaned our room and others and didn't leave one towel in the room.

We really enjoyed this resort! We are just finishing up a week with another couple but wanted to write a review before I left and back to real life and didn t get around to it. The entire resort is very clean, staff are unbelievable ... from the room attendants to the entertainment, and the food is perfecto! So many choices to eat and everywhere I ve been has been great.
I read all the reviews of the places before I go so I hope this helps. If you can t have an amazing holiday here ... it s probably you ... you won t anywhere... stay home. Big shout out to the extra and above staff that went out of their way for us.. far exceeding what they are required to do for their employment. Jean, Dark Chocolate, Spaghetti, and Black Panther all are so much fun and truly are amazing people. Bar crew Santa , Carlos, Melvin and perhaps the nicest man I have ever met Angel I would call him a friend.
Secrets .. you have some amazing people working here that made our holiday. Ps everyone I spoke with over a week couldn t come up with a complaint. Keep doing what your doing ...we will return.

Excellent service by all the staff, the very quiet beach, the perfect hotel

Lots of restaurants to choose from.
I just wished our bed sheets and pillowcases smelled cleaned. But oh well we usually slept around 1 am during our stay and wake up at 6am.

The hotel is beautiful, it is super clean every day and every day maintenance inside and out .. Wonderful vacation without doubt the best so far .. the hotel has exceptional staff .. loads of good attentions, and most importantly activities that let us know their culture and their sense of rhythm

Let me begin by saying this resort is not a four and a half resort. This is our 3rd time to Punta Cana .
There is no gourmet dining here. We stayed at two different secrets resorts in Mexico and enjoyed the stay so we thought we would try secrets in Punta Cana .
What a mistake! The food was terrible and they use cheap alcohol. NO TOP SHELF ALCOHOL. They like pushing the presidente draft beer. The mini bar was a joke!
The toilet in our room kept running for our entire stay.
I reported it the first day and fell on deaf ears. They put an
Ovel toilet seat on a round toilet. Who does that!
The ceiling in the bathroom was water stained. We had a swim out room thank god but our sliding door was very hard to open. Needed two hands to open it and there was no handle on the outside of door for you to close it so we used the curtain as a screen when we sat out side our room. Needless to say we got eaten at night from mosquitoes. There was a king size bed in the room that killed my back due to indentation in mattress. The pool water could have been warmer. The beach was very very busy to say the least. Helicopters flying over head all day!
Lots of boat traffic. All you could smell was exhaust fumes from all the boats. All the chase lounge chairs were old . My will got a pull on her new bathing suit the first day!
Hate to sound so negative. I talked to a lot of guests and the felt the same way.

THE BEST ENTERTAINMENT STAFF I have ever seen at a resort!!
You can't go wrong choosing this resort!!

My wife and I just checked into their preferred room unit 2465. We paid an extra $2k for an ocean view rm that with a tall ladder you might be able to see the ocean. The worst part is that the rm had hair all over it. The supervisor did respond after the 2nd call and verified the rm was as disgusting as I stated. Our hot tub on the balcony too had hair along with the balcony floor. After the housekeeper came I had to call her back to get the hair she didn't clean. After they left and we were as ok with the rm as we could be I later recorded a roach running across the floor. After traveling 5 hrs to get here and spending $6k to be here my wife and I agreed that this is the worst place we've ever stayed. 4 hrs after arriving on day 1 of our anniversary vacation we're sitting on the bed assuming this is the cleanest area of the room wondering why we stayed here. I do not recommend this resort to anyone! Best thing it has going for it is the staff. Another guest suggested we don't eat from the buffet if we didn't want to get sick as her husband did. Horrible experience and it's only day 1 of a 7 night stay. I've noticed in reading the responses to the complaints that nothing will happen but a bunch of smoke blowing. I've got 6 nights left and will make it my mission to let the world know how disappointing this $6 experience was. This is ridiculous and with so many people complaining day 1 that I've never met before I'm sure it will be more of the same. I've saved my hard earned money to take my beautiful wife on a 19 year anniversary vacation and all I've done is apologize to her for this horrible experience. This is not over, I promise!
Later Day 1, I opened the bathroom door and turned on the lights to see several roaches running across the floor.
Day 2, after finally getting to see the resort I will say it's beautiful and again the staff is very helpful. After the morning housekeeping crew came AGAIN I had them come back due to excessive hair on the floor. They really have no idea how to clean the floors. We started the day at the pool and came back to the room to final several more roaches in the coffee cabinet. At this time I'm very upset and spoke with the manager Jasmin demanding a new unit to stay in. We're currently waiting for the new unit. I'll keep you updated.

Great walking beach. Beautiful property! Poolside drink service from Angel was great, service from Siomara and Martinez at the NOW bar was great, the manager and staff at Oceana made our dinner special, Adriana was so sweet.

I can't say enough good things live this place!!! Our room was the Ocean front suite 2nd floor Amazing!! 2 bathrooms, dinning room, living room bedroom, 2 showers, 2 jacuzzi tubs, 4 sinks, bar, 2 balconies one on the side and the main front one with jacuzzi lounge chairs and dining area. Our 2 story cabana was right on the beach in front of our room. The butler and house keeping put rose petals, sweet treats, and champagne in our room every night. Love love this place

Service was awful. Food never matched the descriptions and tasted terrible. They ran out of beers and specific alcohol, even though we paid for the preferred club to have premium brands. Other couples on the trip were so disappointed and stated they will never come back. The wait staff is so unfriendly and forgetful. I don t understand why this trip was nothing like other Secrets Resorts! Very disappointing!! Way too expensive to get terrible service and food.

The bartenders at Portofino definitely made our trip!!! We will miss you Neftali, Elizabeth & Santa A. They were so incredibly sweet and welcoming! Treated us like family from the minute we met! Neftali makes the best Long Island and margaritas and he has some other tricks up his sleeve! He gets creative and you can tell he s passionate, he will put on a show while he makes your drink! Another must do is the Humitsu hibachi we had Mr Miyagi as our waiter and Julio as our cook! Julio was hilarious!

Excellent food and drinks. Beautiful well maintained stretch of beach. None in our group even had a hint of tummy problems!
Staying at Secrets allows you access to all facilities at Now Larimar next door where to pools are beautiful and quiet.
Good service at bars, restaurants and on the beach.
Only downside for some is that it can be noisy. Rooms will probably get noise from either the pool bar in the afternoons or the entertainment plaza in the evening.
Once the entertainment starts in the evening there is no quiet outdoor bar. You have to go inside to be able to chat. Same applies to Now Larimar!
As with anywhere some visitors will be loud due to alcohol consumption and this can be an issue at times in some of the restaurants.
Staff are plentiful and generally helpful and attentive. Some are excellent, a few are poor and a few can be irritating (making noise for no reason).
Overall a very enjoyable holiday and would return. Will not be for anyone who likes a tranquil break though!

Class location for the holidays. Much overrun by Americans, making it very loud in the afternoon with increasing alcohol levels. Otherwise awesome Caribbean feeling.

Service was great, the people were super nice the resort is okay, def wouldn t recommend coming back go to Jamaica instead for sure. Causeeee this place ain t lit only unless your going with your significant other, cause this def ain t a family vaykay spot.

One of the best places you can ever visit in D.R. we went as a family to a wedding. It was absolutely beautiful. It rained once and still that was wonderful. My children loved it.

Great resort, friendly staff, the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the food, which was good, but not great.

The facilities are beautiful and varied. Avoid the buffet. Stay with the a la carte restaurants. And most important don't get sucked in by the "upgrades", "coupons" and "gifts". It's all about selling you memberships and packages. And they are relentless. Ruined the experience for us.

Staff are great, food choices and quality poor and the entertainment isn't much better, only advantage is you can eat at adjoining hotels

Wonderful staff all around. Entertainment, service staff and hotel staff were fantastic. We almost never needed to ask for anything. When we did need to ask the staff was so quick to help.
The beach was beautiful and keeps so clean as was the lazy river pool. Lots of places to get out of the sun if needed and still be apart of the fun. We loved the foam party and kayak in the pool contest. Such a fun time.
The dinners were amazing and the buffet was over the top for breakfast and lunch although the chicken at the beach bar for lunch was the best with their special sauce, so juicy.
We will tell all our friends who like to travel! Excellente !

Relaxing and entertaining. Staff was very attentive, food was very good. Drinks were plentiful and the grounds were immaculate. Many things to do but tanning on the beach was priority. Overall a great experience

Scenery was great but use the room safe at all times last day there left the do not disturb sign on door and left my wallet in the room inadvertently needless to say was robbed the staff is very friendly but will rob you blind if the opportunity arises.

Nice resort. Could use a face-lift. I didn't like that you had to share restaurants with the two Now resorts nextdoor because the family crowds there were loud and rowdy during my stay. It does offer you more eating and entertainment options though. The staff was nice and the resort provided all the privileges you get at all Secrets Resorts. Better than other adult only all inclusive resorts in the area but not my favorite Secrets Resort overall.

There is a shortage of towels in the beach, pool and the rooms. Don't book a tour poolside or beach side specially with a company named Point Tours, (Antonio). Antonio with Point Tours asked for a cash payment on the spot and on the day of the Tour it was cancelled due to the weather. I never got my money back. The Beach and Pool were beautiful.

Very nice hotel by the beach. Everything is all inclusive, 5 restaurants inside 2 or 3 bars make this hotel a great place to relax. The pool is huge with a bar inside. Food is not extraordinary. The beach is really nice tho and cleaned every day. Activities all day every day. Rooms are really comfy and spacious, they have everything you need like AC, fan, TV and more. Plus a bath tube on the balcony! I would definitely recommend.

Our butler Robinson was the best! I love how he set up romantic spa and beds. He made it a dream come true. Thanks Robinson!!!

Poor follow up with issues. We were told at check in that we had to provide a credit card for any additional services we want. We said we didn't want to and if we did do anything we would pay cash. They told us this was not an option and they had to ha e a credit card on file. We gave them one to use and they told us it didn't work but they would put a not on our account saying we would pay cash for any services. When we got to our room I pulled up our accounts to double check and found they had charged us over $300. I went back the next morning and followed up. They told us the credit card on file was optional (against what we had been told previously). They also said they would get it fixed right away. The next day there was no change with the account so we went back. They said since it was now Saturday and accounting is closed they would not be able to start looking in to it till Monday and we should have it resolved within 24 to 48 hours of that point. I asked why they didn't look at it Friday when we came in and they said no one had told them to. I guess the rep we talked to just thought it would go away on its own. I then had to provide bank statements and a copy of our credit card. The process so far has taken up several hours and left me feeling upset during my whole stay. Now after dealing with this for 4 days they still don't have a resolution and say the system never showed a charge so they have to dig more in to what I was charged at check in.

Very nice facility, good food and friendly staff. 1 star deduction, because the more unfortunately, at the moment is not very inviting by the storm.

I ve been to Punta Cana about 5 times now and this by far, has been one of the best resorts I ve ever been to. The entertainment team, the food, staff, hospitality, and cleaning service. I would 100% recommended this hotel if you re trying to relax AND also have fun! The staff is very attentive and care about your stay there. The bartenders and servers and very nice and funny to! The night shows were well put together and were so fun to watch. Although our room was kind of difficult to remember where it was, I still will go back! Thank you for our stay & and for an amazing mother s and daughters trip. I also recommend the buggy excursion and Saona island excursion!!

It's amazing! Stay on the privilege side, I did and it's like living in a commercial fantasy land. Your every whim is catered to.

The preferred area staff were BEYOND AMAZING!!
Our Butler Gary was the Best!!# our favorite bartenders were Jeffrey who deserves to be promoted because he's always on top of everything, Israel who makes awesome drinks and never let mine run out, Magdalena who kept our drinks full on the beach and Mamajuana who spoke to us every single day we were there!!! THESE PURPLE WERE AWESOME!!! They made our vacation unforgettable!!!

Wife and I traveled here for our anniversary. I read many reviews about the hotel prior to traveling. First, we have traveled a lot in the Caribbean and my review is about OUR experience. Our experience was Excellent!

I would recommend that you book the Preferred area. The checkin and checkout are very quick and you will not wait in any lines. This area was much quieter and had better selection of snacks, liquor, lounge chairs, and allowed you to receive special meals that aren't on the regular menus. The special meals included surf and turf (Oceana) , breakfast (in room), and lobster dinner (Italian). The Italian lobster was way too spicy so get the sauce on the side. The lobsters and tenderloin were large, unlike most Caribbean lobsters.

The pool areas were very clean and Jeffrey (preferred pool waiter) was the best ever. You will not wait for any beverages. He was excellent all day every day! The bar tenders at all of the bars are very attentive and make sure you are served quickly. With the preferred package, you allowed to use all of the sister hotels facilities, which are also very good. Try the Sand Bar and meet Antoinio Bandara....he is a very attentive bar tender and makes sure you have a good time.

We have never had a butler before and were unsure of his job. Ours, Constant, made special reservations for our special dinners. he made sure our week was very special.

Tipping: we tipped a few people even though it was included. No one had their hands out and our service was no less if we didn't tip. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. The only negative is that you can not order room service the night before. You must wake up early and give them 45 minutes to deliver the food.

American tourist club thirsty for alcohol and greasy food!

I normally wouldn't rate this hotel a 2 star due to the lovely entertainment and upbeat servers. They are absolutely a pleasure. We were approached our 2nd day here to do a beach photoshoot which was stated by Johnny it would cost $10 for 100 pictures. We book ourvshoot on 9ur last day the photographer clarified it would cost $10 a picture . So my boyfriend and I decided we would only get a few. When it came to us picking out our pictures their manager stated we need a minimum of 12 photos. None of this was stated to us previously. We wasted our entire last day shooting and picking our pictures. It was a complete scam. Everything should have been discussed before the shoot to clarify. How can you put a minimum price on someone's pictures.? We were here celebrating a Birthday and wanted some memories. If they use our photos without permission I'll be extremely angry

A dream vacation! In this hotel you will read all wishes "almost" from the eyes! Super clean, top staff, top restaurants, quiet and always something going on ...

Beautiful property, friendly staff plenty to do, however the food and selection of alcoholic beverages leaves a lot to be desired..

Absolutely top his dreams come true. This is a true all-inclusive hotel as you wish. The Jacuzzi on the balcony completes the program .. the pool resembles an aqua park.

This is a fantastic resort. Super-friendly staff, great food, international drinks etc. What made it exceptional was the "home" feeling: no wristbands, simple towel service, staff going out of their way to help when needed. Most excellent!

For the treatment received from all the hotel staff, waiters like Ismael, Juan Carlos, Saudi, Rafa ... The room service highlighting Robinson, Yefry and Victor and of course the entertainment team Tony, kidd, Spaguetti and my favorite Mini baby !!
I was there for 15 days from October 1 to 15 and I only told you that I left crying when I said goodbye to all of them because we were already like a big family
As a suggestion, miss the cocktail menus and improve the wine of the meals

Spent 6 days with 5 girlfriends in the Secrets Preferred Club to celebrate one friend's 60th birthday. One of the perks with Preferred is we were assigned our own Personal Butler!! Marcelo was our butler and could not have made our stay any better. He was always available to help us with questions, restaurant reservations, a driver on the grounds to take us, and pick us up, from the restaurants and gave the birthday girl a special birthday greeting. We are hoping to return and when we do, we will be sure we are assigned to Marcelo again. Top rating is 5 stars, but if there was a higher one, we would give Marcelo that rating. We are now spoiled so nothing will compare. Thank you for making our celebration trip more than we could have imagined.

Excellent For a good weekend, first class attention

Just got home last night, and what a wonderful trip!
1. It's absolutely stunningly beautiful, beach and resort
2. The staff members are the best. Truly. (Alexander is a great bartender!) And way to many more who were great as well!
3. The food is great, from Sea side grill, to the beach side grill. The buffet has plenty of tasty choices.
4. Very clean. (Huge priority to me personally)
5. Always ask for plenty of water if you go through it like we do(dehydrated after Sun and cocktails) the rooms are a little shy on water in the fridge.
6. Bring plenty of smaller bills if you tip like we do. Difficult to get change.
7. and most importantly, if you can, the bavaro runners excursion is amazing. Best way to get a real feel for how the Dominican republic really is culturally. It was a blast and we learned so very much about the people (who are so kind and happy), the food, the city life, education, and so much more. All while having a great time with our guide Rudy. It really made our trip.
8. Beware of the mamajuana, it's delicious!

Stayed in preferred club. Could never get a hold of our Butler for any of the included Butler service. It was impossible to get food service pool side since no one ever came. We had our one year anniversary and had to ask a couple times to get the turn down service included for that even after making an appointment
we haven't even seen our butler since the first day and when ive called him, hes never answered .Save your money and stay on the regular side where you will actually get service. Overall, I'm not satisfied with the 'preferred club' service at all. I wish I would have picked a regular room. I would like to add that all the staff on site are very friendly and excellent at their jobs. The maids are great, the bartenders, and food staff made it a very enjoyable experience. It's the lack of preferred club service that dropped the rating and experience for me.

Great room and service is awesome too. It is a rather boring resort, which is great if you're not looking to be busy. The beach has seaweed issues. Also, half of the beach is blocked off for members; The actual cool part. If we return, we'll definitely go to RIU. I'm not saying the resort could have done more, it's just not that great.

It was breathtaking from the scenery to the food. I m going back for sure.
