1. When we arrived, we got to our room and the doo...

1. When we arrived, we got to our room and the door leading to the next-door neighbor s room would not close or lock, so we asked the front desk to come and fix the issue. I called them 2 times as it took over 2 hours for someone to finally come and check it out. When he did come he put nails through the door to keep it closed.
2. Disco is only open until 1:30 and plays the same play list every night. Make sure you get all your drinks beforehand because after the Disco is closed there is no 24-hour bar where you can get drinks
3. Hounded every 2 seconds for excursions on the beach. Also, to top it off there are 100s of drug dealers on the beach which supply ANY type of drug you need, you just need to go to the back of their creepy shop
4. All the staff are angry! If you ask for a drink, they roll their eyes or ignore you all together. I had one good bartender which I tipped decent every night because he is the only one that had a smile and knew what I was drinking.
5. I tipped the cleaning ladies 5 dollars + each time along with coloring books and crayons, etc and all they did was make the bed, clean towels and stock our toilet paper, most other resorts I been to would make designs with the towels, give chocolates, or have a bath ready with rose pedals. I had to call EVERY TIME times to get my fridge stocked
6. Caution: The showers may flood your room! We are not the only ones that had this issue. 5 of our friends had to change rooms because of this.
7. The Food was alright, no one got sick, so I guess that was a plus. Only issue is they have 1 Alicart that you can make reservations (Japanese) which was amazing all the other restaurants were first come first serve which can be annoying. Note: We went to French and they were serving Beringer Blush wine for $50 I told them I would never pay that much, and we settled at $25. Why did I have to pay for wine, and why was it SO expensive? Who knows .
8. Performances are mediocre at best, seemed like they did the same thing every night, A lot of dancing and not a lot of entertaining.
9. Anyone can come on your resort; no wrist bands were given.
10. If you smoke Hookah, it is not aloud at this resort unless you smoke it on your balcony. I tried to smoke mine in the common smoking area in an outdoor lounge and they told me to take it to my room. I asked the front desk why I couldn t smoke it since it is a part of some people s religion and they said it was illegal which isn t true because I went to Bahia Principe in Punta Cana and they let me smoke it there. Just crazy how someone can smoke cigars, vape pens, smokes and yet I can t have my hookah. Oh, but hey they can sell coke and weed on the beaches???
11. No such thing as pool parties or music at the pool
12. Mamajuana is DISGUSTING at this resort, it s not the true mamajuana so don t bother trying it out, and just grab a bottle at duty free on the way out
13. You will hear a lot Privilege because a lot of the areas on the resort you aren t allowed to go to because you didn t pay extra for privilege. Not to worry though, I took my friends card and when I went to the Privilege bar which served Jack Daniels the bartender was again rude, and I didn t bother to go back. Nothing special about being privilege if you ask me.
14. I never had this issue maybe because I was with my boyfriend, but my 2 girlfriends had an encounter with a creepy worker there. They asked the front desk for a bottle opener and the guy came to their room and wouldn t leave them alone. While they were on the balcony he came into their rooms without asking which shouldn t happen, so they pushed him out and ended up putting a chair in front of the door, so he couldn t come in. He continued to knock on the door and then when no one would answer he called them. The next day a worker called and asked if they were safe?....Just something to be cautious about.

If you go to Punta Cana spend LESS money and go to Bahia Principe..It s worth it!!

I am not a complicated person. However, this resor...

I am not a complicated person. However, this resort's idea of service is very poor. I just came back from a late meal and I was treated with indignation. The food was cold and when we spoke to the server we were treated almost as if it didn't matter the whole party was disappointed with the meal. The installations are beautiful, the every bit service has been the opposite. I could go on but the water I ordered 20mins ago has not arrived yet. Maybe it was too much trouble for the room service.

Our room was so cold with very bad air conditioner. Our mattress was soooo bad! And it feels like the mattress and the sheets were wet! They don t bring you everything every day for example we had a cotton box just the first day and they didn t bring us any after. I had it in my stuff so I didn t bother to ask either. Diffidently it s not a 5 star hotel. Maybe 3 or something. The receptionist was doing other stuff and talking to other staff when we were in middle of our conversation !!! When you go to the other building they bring you a drink and they are dedicated to you until you re done and they gave us a hotel map but this one is terrible. Not recommended if you are looking for a five star!

In the Dominican Republic and around the world, I have stayed at many hotels. I am a dominican born and have visited many resort in Punta Cana, Puerto Plata, Samana, etc. This was the worst experience of my lifetime. You will never be able to eat at the beach restaurant unless you are a prefer guest. The room beds were very uncomfortable and appears to be very old. Moreover, at the beach party, my sister was asked to leave the area because the party was only for hotel guest. She told the security person that she was a guest, and he asked her show identification. Per law, the Dominican beaches are public beaches. We felt very uncomfortable at this place and couldn't wait for our check out day!

My wife and I decided to do a destination wedding ...

My wife and I decided to do a destination wedding ceremony, and went to Now Lamir. We were put into a room with no air conditioning, and they took more than a day to move us even after reaching out to management and Apple Vacations (our booking agency). We had to deal with our room safe being ripped apart after someone tried to break in, and we spent hours away from the friends and family that took time out of their lives to join us for our wedding to file reports that ultimately went nowhere. My wife started crying in the wedding planners office due to all the stress from issues we were having, and then the staff members started gossiping about it across the resort to our family and strangers. The day of the wedding, the wrong bouquet was sent over, which added more strain to what was supposed to be a stress free wedding. Later, the housekeeper threw the bouquet my wife had on the table drying to preserve away, and accused us of leaving it wrapped in a towel on the floor. We were offered no support with our issues during the trip, with staff ranging from unsympathetic to outright rude. Avoid this resort at all costs, we will forever regret hosting our wedding here.

We stayed at the NOW LARIMAR from Jan.31-Feb.7/201...

We stayed at the NOW LARIMAR from Jan.31-Feb.7/2019. The only reason I am writing my review now is because I was waiting for someone from this hotel to address my concerns after we got back. Unfortunately I have yet to receive a response from any one from this resort so here is my utter honest review!

We were visiting with our wedding party of 56 people. I am so embarassed that our guests had to stay at this nasty resort. The AM property management should be ashamed of themselves for calling this a five start resort.

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSE WHERE! THIS IS THE WORST RESORT YOU CAN POSSIBLY GO TO IF YOU HAVE HIGH STANDARDS.

I am so angry that we all paid so much money and were under the impression that we will be staying at 5 star resort, at most this would be considered a 3.5 star! This is false advertising!

I have listed all the things that were wrong below:

-multiple COCKROACHES found at the buffet...imagine dirty cockroaches moving along the food that you are about to consume! (this is basic cleanliness)
- staples found in our food ordered from room service
- entire toilet bowl/ seat was lose in my sisters room to the point that she fell off the bowl
- a booger wall found in another guests room (entire wall had dried up boogers on it)
- they tried to scam one of our guests and charge them $666 USD for an upgrade when the guest just requested a cleaner room they checked in to
-they over booked the resort so they ended up separating our entire party between two resorts SECRETS and NOW LARIMAR ( the secrets is a bit better but their food is just as bad)
-CATHELIN BETANCES (event coordinator) is very much incompetent. She should be working at a motel as her services are not at a 5-star standard.
-I was in correspondence with her for our private dinner...she sent me copies of the menu that will be served and what I agreed upon. NONE of the food from the menu was served!
-COMPLETE SCAM-- they charged us $2000 USD for a private dinner, none of the food they had promised were made specially for us (as we were promised a BBQ menu) all the food were taken from the buffet in a stew like form, NO BBQed food.... CATHELIN told us in advance they do not have speakers at the Castaway restaurant and when we got there we saw speakers at every corner of the restaurant and we asked them to turn up the volume of the music they had on..which one of their waiters did so, but the event coordinator assistant YANCELY VAZQUEZ advised him to turn it back down as we did not pay for music...prior to the event I had asked them if they had speakers at this location and they said they do not and we need to pay for dj separately which was a BLATANT LIE. A complete money grab...very tasteless and cheap!
-YANCELY VAZQUEZ was extremely rude when I asked her why they did not announce when the food is going to be served to our guests...none of our guests were aware that food was being served. When asked why she replied "that is not my responsibility!"...I am not too sure what would be considered a coordinators responsibility if not that...just horrible.
-the staff were not helpful at all especially at our welcome dinner!
-poor food quality
-produce at the buffet was OLD and it seemed as though it was sitting out from the night before ( cucumbers and tomatoes were wilting)
-THEY ADVERTISE A PREMIUM BAR through agents and on their website....this is a LIE...they had the cheapest/ nastiest liquor! just to put things in prespective they consider Stolichnaya premium...all of their liquor was low end.
-everyone in our party had an upset stomach the entire week.
-so much algae on the beach and broken glass bottles in the water...this is obviously something out of the resort hands but they made no effort to keep anything under control... (in mexico at all 5 star resorts they have a beach crew cleaning and maintaining the beach at all times)

All in all..the worst experience ever! I will never return to any of their resorts managed by this group, this also goes for our entire wedding party of 56!

All inclusive resort. As soon as we arrived, we were treated with the upmost hospitality. We were brought into a private room off to the side of the lobby. We were served drinks. They explained all the amenities to is that the resort had to offer. We were escorted to our room by our butler, Miguel. The pools were great. Not crowded. The food at the restaurants and buffets were so good. The nightly entertainment was great. I definitely can't wait to go back for another relaxing vacation.

Excellent place!!! People are extremely friendly, very helpful and deliver whatever you ask for. Punta Cana is beautiful, literally a paradise. There is plenty things to do and entertainment team make sure that you feel excellent!!! Food is super yummy and you have a choice between many restaurants and bars. We will definitely come back every year from now on. I would highly recomend this place and I have not enough words to praise this place and people for making our vacation the time of our lives. Few names of people who provided exceptional service: Baby Face, Mini Baby, Malvin, Rosa Maria, Luis, and many others. We are in love with NOW Larimar Punta Cana! We consider Now Larimar our home away from home.

I was surprised and disappointed during my time he...

I was surprised and disappointed during my time here. I've been to many five star and five star plus resorts in the Caribbean and this was likely the worst. It had some redeeming points, but overall I strongly disagree with the resort's five star rating.

The rooms were very small, and poorly designed so that you can't get any privacy within the room. I shared the room with my brother and the only place I could change my clothes was in the toilet stall. The thermostat doesn't actually work, so you can only choose to turn the air conditioning off or on, meaning you can be very cold or very hot. We found cockroaches in the rooms and when we approached staff about this, they dismissed our concerns saying that it's common to have cockroaches in the Caribbean. This was not the case in my previous experiences.

The food was poor. There was very little selection and many of the offered items looked poorly prepared. For example, the smoked salmon looked grey in colour and was very obviously recently defrosted. Many of our family members had consistent stomach problems throughout our stay.

The staff were highly unprofessional. Upon my family's requests to change rooms, they spoke ill of us, in front of us, in Spanish. At the restaurants, orders were often forgotten, or not even inputted at all. The wait staff were unprofessional, one continually approached our table making animal sounds and persistently asking us to meow(?).

The beach was beautiful but the experience was affected by the consistent bombardment of merchants, and excursion representatives bothering you. I stood on the beach and would be approached every few minutes with someone trying to sell me something. The advertisements you may see about this resort say that it offers free water activities - it does not.

The pool however was lovely and well kept. The seating was ample and clean. The cleaning staff did an excellent job as well. The swim up rooms were also very convenient.

I visited a month ago and stayed for 5 days with my husband and kid. The nice parts:
1.The staff is what it makes this place amazing. Every where we were they asked us if we wanted a drink and if everything was ok..specially at the beach!
2. I was recovering from my leg fracture and I asked the front desk to move me to ground level and near the kids club and the front desk agent did it!-Thank you for that !!
3. My 3 years old daughter had fun. They have great activities for the little ones.

In the negative, it is the amount of different people that ask you to go to the meeting to join their club. I think is too much and staff asking about the trip advisor review.

Beside that, the food was ok and actually we didn't get tired of the food.

It was a great time. The people that worked there ...

It was a great time. The people that worked there were super nice, and helpful. Our first time will definately be back.Beautiful resort, they keep the pools clean, as well as the seaweed from the ocean. It's just beautiful. Except our concierge, he was a little pushy, and wouldnt leave us alone. Other than that that was my only problem.

The hotel was great. Most of the staff was great but make sure you have shirts or full length shirts or you will not be allowed to eat dinner at this resort. Because of the heat, I took cargo shorts and 3/4 length shoulder shirts. Our final night I was not allowed in the buffet diner by I believe a manager because my 3/4 shoulder shirt did not meet their criteria. I had to buy a $30 shirt from their resort shop if I wanted to eat dinner at their buffet. Strangely enough I saw kids with the same shirt I had eating in their buffet. But I , had to buy a $30 shirt from the resort to eat at the buffet because of one manager.

We had a room with a Jacuzzi on the balcony. Just make sure you turn the jacuzzi on at rhe breaker. Now Garden is a smaller resort with one restaurant. It is connected to Now Larimar. You have access to the Larimar that has more restaurants, including a pretty good buffet. Larimar is also right on the beach. I highly recommend this resort.

Great staff! Always friendly and helpful. Resort is clean and comfortable. Food is not very good had dinner at all restaurants except for the "Japanese" hibachi. All were terrible with the possible exception of the Italian restaurant, it was decent. Overall experience was very good except for the food. I would not go back as the food was that bad.

My husband and I were on our honeymoon on the 1st. and November 2, 2015, the services were excellent, especially those in charge of the celebration and these activities. The service of the main restaurant, excellent. The attentions of Modesto and Juan excellent 5 stars for them.

Just returned from my 2nd visit to this resort. I ...

Just returned from my 2nd visit to this resort. I fell in love with Now Larimar in 2014 and since then they've really stepped their game up. I have trouble imagining myself at another resort for my next vacation.
Antonio Benderas at the Prefered Pool is amazing. He's quite entertaining and mixes one hell of a drink. Ask him for a Spicy Beer/Bloody Maria.
Entertainment involving singing and dancing isn't usually my thing. But the entertainment staff is a really great group of people and deserve a shout out. Especially Skinny Boy and Baby Face.
I really have to question the people who say the food is terrible. I assume they've never been to a all inclusive resort. The food is definitely subpar at resorts like these. However Now Larimar is certainly a notch above the others I've tried. I only had one or two disappointing meals throughout the whole week.
Castaways during lunch is a must, ask for Manuel to serve you. I grew quite fond of this guys humor.
I also can not mention food without praising Capers Italian. This place was fantastic, if this was actual restaurant chain or at least a restaurant accessible while I'm at home. I'd eat it all the time, and that says a lot since as I said resort food is typically subpar. Milton runs a right ship at this spot.
The time share/vacation people are a tad overwhelming.. but you have to admire their hustle. They're definitely always on and ready to pitch. Stay firm with them and tell them you aren't interested and that you aren't going to change your mind.
All in all I highly recommend this resort. BRAVO

It is a good place to rest, but I understand that the furniture in the rooms should be improved, they did not put robes or slippers in the room, very strong musty smell in the room. They are not bad, but they can improve.

We decided to "upgrade" from the Now Garden but the food sucks. Everything seems to have a weird ingredient that makes you feel bloated after eating. Seems like they get cheaper ingredients. Tomatoes are green and red (same slice), bread is tasteless, service is mediocre at best. Nobody understands English and people are constantly trying to peddle stuff to you on the beach. It is beautiful and if you drink enough of the watered down liquor you will still have fun.

Update: Don't eat the beach chicken. It will give you some kind of stomach bug and you will not want to leave your room.

After sitting through a 2 hour presentation showin...

After sitting through a 2 hour presentation showing the best of their resort, I was interested, until......we had a busted hot water pipe in our room where several of our things were soaking wet, including leather items, we never saw a manager but was told to call and someone by the name of Pedro suggested putting all of our items in the dryer (can you dry leather shoes and bags?) After moving us to another room at midnight, where the beds were not made properly ; no pillow cases and one sheet one of the beds. After calling the front desk, they sent a young man with two pillows and a sheet who did not know what to do with them. We made the bed. Got to bed at 1:30 am and spent the next morning attempting to get some type of compensation. The compensation offered was on our next trip to their resort they would upgrade us to use the facilities at the next door resort (Now Larimar). We asked for 1 day credit. I say if you cannot handle a small problem, why would I buy into something that could possibly be a large problem. What a way to spend the last 24 hours of an other wise pleasant vacation. The staff in the restaurants and housekeeping were outstanding) Management cannot make any decisions. Totally useless. We won't be back!

It s a beautiful place BUT they r thieves, especially if you don t tip every worker, and they work with each other so they know when your out of your room. They tried to get in my suitcase last night broke the lock and I can t get into my suitcase. And when you call front desk all of a sudden no one understands english. The 4th person finally understood and just told us to write a report ... Now I don t know what to do??
