The hotel is very accessible and provides bith a gym and pool to its guests. The gym is slightly limited but within expected for a hotel whilst the pool is quite shallow. The most confusing aspect of the layout is the separation of the first 3 floors and the rest of the hotel. Overall it is a comfortable hotel to stay at with suitable facilities.

Stayed for shopping (great location for the city malls and shops) and a concert at Melbourne Park (20 minute walk) so staying here was perfect. Great eating in the lanes so ate out. Excellent staff and facilities, I recommend this hotel.
Great experience. Very friendly staff, always willing to help and very courteous. Really enjoyed the size of the room and also the view from our room. A very comfortable stay would definitely stay again. Highly recommend to everyone.
The location is amazing! There were some renovations happening next door and unfortunately we didn't know about them as it wasn't posted on wotif. However when we mentioned this they were more than happy to help. We got our breakfast and room service paid for.
I had a comfortable stay. The team is very helpful and friendly. Strategic location to stay. Thanks to the Novotel team for making me and my friend feel welcome. :)
Lovely staff, excellent location, comfy bed and great food. Can't say enough about how great the staff were, helpful, very friendly and prompt service with bags and everything. They also have valet parking which was really handy for us as we had our vehicle but was very close to stations and trams. Walking distance to lots of landmarks and excellent restaurants and cafe's. Will definitely come back to the Novatel!
Staff were exceptional and the room was good. The mini fridge was broken and I reported it before I checked out (rm 1349). The only poor experience I had was in the gym with the dates and broken equipment. One of the recumbent bikes was broken and the machines that did work were old and in poor shape.
Nice, centrally located hotel. Stayed in Melbourne (was there for Boxing Day Test at MCG). Right at heart of action on Collins, near Flinders. 20-25 min walk to MCG/Yarra park. Hotel is good. Gym area a bit small (but decent new equipment). Would say dont bother with Breakfast buffet- so many good places nearby. Alley-way cafes, Brunettis.
Hotel is located near shopping, food and most importantly a tram stop. Making this one of the most convenient hotels I ve stayed in while in Melbourne. Rooms are a bit on the small side. Single bed is not recommended for people who are taller than 6 feet. To avoid long walks to and from rooms, make sure your room number is not more than 30. Eg. 930 or 730 or 1030.
Stayed one night with a friend as we were heading into Melbourne for the night. Had room service for dinner, steak sandwiches and we were both violently ill post the meal with vomiting and GI disturbances. This meant we spent the evening in the room rather than in town. Will be checking out shortly, will update with the hotels response. **UPDATE. The hotel still wanted payment for the meals and room, they have said they will conduct an investigation and provide an update. Not happy with this outcome, will not be staying again unless a suitable outcome is offered.
Came down with family from Gold Coast to go to the MCG. Decided to stay at Novotel on Collins because of central location. Glad we did as could walk to everything or if too far hopped on free tram zone. Would stay again for sure.
Hotel very centrally located on Collins Street. All sights, shopping, etc. within walking distance. The hotel is integrated into a shopping center. Most rooms have their windows in the "courtyard". See photo. You do not get anything from the weather outside. Was a little uncomfortable for me. Somehow isolated. The breakfast was ok. Location top - rest average.
Service was amazing- allowed me to check in early as a room was available. They even upgraded me. The room was comfortable, crisp and clean. Quiet nights sleep- which is always what I worry about when in the city!
Good room service and comfortable beds but one night an emergency alarm woke us up at 8:36 AM. Wasn't that bad as we had our own alarms for 9 but if that emergency alarm was earlier would have been a rude awakening.
Novotel Melbourne on Collins is a great hotel right in the city. The staff are very helpful and friendly we always stay there when we are in Melbourne.
Stayed here a few times. Nice and neat rooms. Large enough but not too big. Very practical. Service from staff in general was good but the bar staff where particularly friendly which was good. Everything reasonably priced. Central location and easy to get everywhere. Will stay again.
We are on day 3 of our 14 day stay here at Novotel and your staff have already turned into our wardens. We are locked in our cells 24hrs a day with no water, access to fresh air or edible nutritious food. I have raised mental health concerns several times and no one will help me. Please help us, your staff are running a prison!!!!
To make a booking I had to give my credit card details. This was days before the booking. When calling to say I will be checking in late, I was told that to hold the room after 6pm ,even after supplying credit card details previously was asked to pay for the room in advance to hold it. I shouldn't have to give these details twice. When checking out was asked again for credit card details and then on my statement was charged 2 separate charges. $300 for 1 night stay and another $400. I asked what the second charge was about and it was taken as security. 10 days later still waiting for it to be refunded. This has never happened at any other hotel and I find it highly inconvenient. I am an Accor member. I will avoid Novotel in future if this is going to happen each time.
The Novotel Collins is my first choice when staying in Melbourne. The location is perfect for my business in the arts precinct just over the Bridge. I get to enjoiy all the interesting lanes that I love exploring, lots of interesting shopping and food places. The Novotel staff are always welcoming and very helpful. My room was overlooking the refurbed shopping centre, hence no roadworks or traffic noise. Room layout was good, included a large functional desk space for work and a comfy chaise to lounge on. The staff are amazing. The TV tech issue was fixed within minutes. I always recommend the Novotel Collins to friends and colleagues.
A great stay in a family room for 5 days. Clean, tidy, friendly and lots of fun. We are a family of 5, kids 8, 6 and 2. Kids love the pool, game machine at reception and their own connected room with TV. We loved the breakfasts, valet parking, dinner (great steaks) and friendly staff. Perfect spot for a week in Melbourne.
Perfect location, so central to all facilities, walking distance or trams stops very accessible. Loved our time in Melbourne and hotel and staff were fantastic!
One of the worst Accor Hotels I have come across. As a Platinum member, I can see a stark difference between how the staff treated me vs. how I am treated at other hotels.
First and foremost, there's no simple, "thank you for being an Accor member. And certainly no offer to upgrade my room. And not only that, when I checked into my room, I realized that I was given a 2-single bedded room when I clearly booked for a queen-sized room.
As a Platinum, I usually get invited to the lounge, and I guess the staff is either too lazy to mention this or the hotel has no lounge. For a night stay, I probably don't care, but staying there for 3 nights, I feel that the staff simply do no care.
And when I asked if I could do a late check out, the latest they could offer me was up till 1pm - that's like 1 hour extra. And I am sure it does not take a Platinum member to request for this.
Finally, hours before my flight, when I was leaving the room, the safe could not be opened! The only reason they got a star is because the Night Shift Manager was probably the only saving grace for this hotel as she did her best to help me. Even though I am so disappointed with her offer to ask me to go get a coffee when I was running late to the airport. It took them 1 hour before the safe could be cracked opened and my passport retrieved. I had to rush to the airport and the whole experience made me realize that Novotel Melbourne on Collins ranks on the lowest scale of all the Accor Hotels I have stayed at.
Not the standard that I am used to since I stay here regularly. Check in was awkward and had an issue ordering a meal at 10pm and wanted to charge me internet when loyalty club provides it for free.
Good and consistent, this hotel always meets expectations, in a reliable, orderly and comfortable manner. The rooms and hotel is well maintained and the staff are warm, professional and helpful. It's good value for money and easy.
I had just returned to Australia from Japan, I was delighted to be able to check in early and to have chosen a room with some space. The staff were excellent and the room was good
Luxury accommodation right in the heart of Melbourne. Our room fit 4 people comfortably. Very clean, good accommodation. Unfortunately, very expensive parking.
I stayed for three days, but I did not remove the used towel and left a new towel on it, and the water in the sink suddenly flooded, and it cleared the trash can.
Just spent a week at the Novatel Collins St Melbourne & found the location is excellent & so easy to get around the city with tram stops immediately outside the hotel, plus so many eateries, Fed Square, Southbank all within walking distance. Found all staff very helpful & friendly, however did find a few things that weren't all together to our liking - 1. Breakfast can be extremely busy, so is best to be up as early as possible. If you hit the breakfast bar at 9.00am...then expect chaos...this place is busy! Credit where due...the staff manage the chaos as best as possible, but it's not pleasant when trying to get your feed & dealing with large numbers of people...allbeit at the same time. Best time is 8.00am...get in, get out & beat the rush. 2. The lifts are in one location. If your room is on the other side of the building, it can be a trek to & from them. 3. The hotel is tired & in need of renovations with rooms, hallways, carpets, lifts all needing some updating. Nothing really too bad...but not that good either. 4. Room cleaning is good, but found the complimentary tea, coffee & milk not always replaced daily. 5. Room bar fridge/condiments way too expensive. You do expect to pay a little extra...but not the prices being charged. I was definitely discouraged from utilising this service. 6. No complimentary water supplied to your room either, so be aware you'll be stung severely if you use.
All of this aside...I would come back as the location is just perfect & thoroughly enjoyed Melbourne.
The new rooms look fantastic, stunning ensuite and great views. Staff were friendly and helpful, only bad thing was there was a strange smell in our room not sure what it was...
Apart from our initial visit at the entrance where we were unsure where to go & no one was there to greet us as they were busy conversing between themselves. We stood there for about 2 minutes before l was able to grab their attention. We were then directed up to 3rd floor where the staff were welcoming.
I really enjoyed my stay. Everything went really well. Very helpful staff at reception, restaurant and throughout. The only slight negative was the concierge at the Collins St entrance on the first day when I arrived who was quite abrupt in his answers with everyone around his desk. Otherwise, everyone else was very pleasant, cheerful and welcoming.
The Hotel was not 4 star level as indicated. The refrigerator had left over food in it on our arrival. The fridge stock had not been replenished. The halls and lift appeared to be in constant need of cleaning. Complimentary water was only provided once in 4 days despite Accor Club membership. The tea and sugar provided were inadeqyte and not topped up.
