My husband and I were previously members of the accor program but we cancelled it over a year ago as it wasn't really working for us. I needed to stay in Melbourne for one night for a conference at the novotel so, when prompted, I decided to give the accor program another go and booked my first night at the novotel on collins. Let's just say early morning Hammer drilling on the one morning away from home where I didn't have to get up to my children was not ideal and I'm back to wondering why I bothered signing up for the membership program again.

Location at Collins Street is great. Easy to find food, any kind of foods, Western, Chinese, Vietnamese, bakery and many more. Hotel above shopping centre, surrounded by high end branded stores and shopping mall. Near to Federation Square and Station. Transportation is easy. Even easy to find tour nearby at Swanston Street. Concierge very helpful and very friendly. Hotel even provided us by breakfast box while we can not have breakfast due to early tour at 5.45am.
Freshly renovated rooms though a bit small. My room didn't have a windows to the outside, just the atrium. Made it a bit dark. Nicer to wake up to a bit of morning light.
The service was always great however the hotel cleaning was not what I would expect from a 4 star hotels. We stayed for a week and in this time the hotels corridors had not been vacuumed once, we passed the same rubbish on the floor for a week. Dust was built up in the corners which also showed that regular cleaning was not done. cleaning of our room at times was excellent other days just ok. Not sure I would choose this hotel again I would have expected better from a 4 star hotel.
Before checking in I indicated I have allergies ans asthma so requested a feathers free room. On going to bed, I found I had a feather quilt. I phoned reception to indicate that I was having an asthmatic attack and requested the quilt be removed. and have the issue resolved. I was informed that the issue could not be resolved that night and will be sorted the next day. I checked in personally and stayed for 3 nights and during this time on the TV greeting and on my bill I was addressed as 'Mr'. I have send an email to the hotel to have the details on the bill changed but there has not been any response to date(3 days later).
Excellent location and the check in & out processes are pretty smooth. Reception desk staff are efficient & profesionally friendly. The location is excellent The restaurant dinner & breakfasts were great.
The hospitality at Novotel is excellent. The entrance is small but there is a reception where they help you. The restaurant located in the hotel is of good quality. He recommended it if it's his first day in the city.
I booked the deluxe spa room for a night to celebrate my husband's birthday. I requested late check out and I also asked if it was possible to have strawberries dipped in chocolate when we arrived as a surprise for my husband. I expected to pay extra for the strawberries of course and asked them to give me a price so I could pay in advance but they never contacted me back about it so I assumed the strawberries were not something they could offer.
When we checked in, not only did they send up the strawberries in a cute little bucket, they also attached a lovely birthday card and all of it was complimentary. It was an awesome surprise, my husband loved it, and we both felt so cared for by the staff. Throughout the whole stay, there was excellent, friendly, attentive service. We would definitely come back for the service alone.
Novotel is situated within the St. Collins Lane shopping centre and the view you have from the room is really lovely as it looks down on the green architectural feature. The spa bath was huge - comfortably fitting two people. We had the bed and breakfast package and the breakfast spread was pretty extensive. Overall, we absolutely loved our little weekend getaway at Novotel and I would really recommend coming here. It's in the heart of Melbourne, very convenient, and there's excellent service.
Anniversary weekend so very well looked after. Check in was fantastic going directly to the member area and skipping the long line. Room was good but car valet was slow and difficult to park. Overall very happy.
Booked months in advance stressed that we wanted a low level room. On check in we were told room is not ready yet but you are definitely on a low level. Once we were able to collect our key we were put on level 12, I don t think you could get much higher! When we called reception we were told they would get back to us ASAP. Half hour later still no response. Called reception again to be told sorry nothing we can do about it. Extremely poor service. Room needed a good clean and found a shower cap over the smoke detector in the room. When questioned the reception staff said oh someone must have been smoking in there ha ha VERY poor!
Quarantine was like a dream at the Novotel. The staff were professional, friendly and welcoming. The whole family were impressed with the lamb shanks for dinner (yum). A great experience. Thanks to the whole team for making our stay wonderful
Top. Centrally located in Melbourne. Very located to go to the business area or the streets of restaurants, walk along the Yarra river, etc. Spectacular breakfast.
Food service for the event was timely, especially the yoghurt, however lunch was a bit uninteresting , the location it self was standard, given it was a training event, not a stay.
Very disappointing. Room was old and hadn't been properly cleaned, crumbs on desk near table lamp, hairs in bathroom, bed was hard, A/C which I set to 19 degrees did not cool the room properly. Breakfast was pretty good, but restaurant area pretty sparse and tiled floor was unclean. Service was generally fairly friendly, especially valet parking, but there is room for improvement here.
Great location within the central CBD with close access to the surrounding sites and sounds. Clean and well equipped rooms and decent amenities for the duration of our stay. Service mediocre, from front to back of house.
Novotel on Collins is located centrally in Melbourne CBD, near trams, trains and easy walking distance to many venues. The rooms are comfortable for two people, the service was excellent, all staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this hotel.
I had a situation where my son become ill an ambulance was required. The staff where terrific in organising and their follow up and helpful assistance was magnificent.
I stay at accord hotels world wide , and compliment the staff in Melbourne for a job well done
From the "Get-GO" to "Check Out" the stay was a breeze. Great customer service, great location and it's superb to be looked after by a happy team. To ice the cake, a hand written card from the Manager was a lovely touch and very personal. Novotel on Collins never disappoints.
The receptionist named Neha was extremely polite and helping. She did an upgrade for us for free of charge. The entire stay was great. Mr Theo was helpful too at the concierge desk. Location is great!
I was so impressed with the level of service. Also waiting in our room on arrival was a birthday cake for my daughter and friends daughter which was just so touching. I wont forget my stay at Novetel on Collins and will be sure to tell others about it. The buffet breakfast was simply AMAZING. My husband and boys (who didnt get to come on this getaway) were very envious of the buffet I described to them.
The best location in Melbourne CBD. Close to number of shopping malls, and there is a tram station right infront of the door. Loved their breakfast with their honeycomb as well!! Ideal for someone who wants to stay in the CBD.
Everything was great. The staff members were really friendly and great. Big shout out to Emily at front desk and Jenny in F& B. They were wonderful. Big asset to the hotel.
Love staying at Novotel on Collins. Great customer service from the first point of contact. Friendly staff and received a special surprise upon arrival to my room a platter of rocky road chocolate with strawberries and beautiful decoration. Ordered room service on my last stay and enjoyed every part of my meal. On my first day of the weekend, I asked the concierge directions on how to get to the NGV for the DIOR exhibition and they were happy to help by mentioning to me the best way to get there by walk or by tram. I walked as it is nice to soak in the sunshine and explore. Thank you to Emma who made sure my stay was a good one upon arrival and to all the other staff when I checked out. Look forward to seeing you guys again when I'm next in Melbourne. As a long time customer, I recommend anyone to stay at Novotel. It's close to transport, shops and more and the staff are so lovely they are always happy to help and they make sure your stay is a good one. Being in the heart of the city, every facility is within walking distance.
We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. The room was comfortable and the hotel very close to restaurants, museum etc
After returning to my room twice after check in earlier in the afternoon, I had to physically go downstairs to the concierge at 10 PM to collect my luggage as doorman failed to them upstairs - they said they 'made a mistake.' Waited for a further 40 minutes for room service to deliver missing toothbrush to my room and the next morning when I ask for slippers room service simply hung a plastic bag with the slipper on my door outside without notice after a 1 hour wait. Quality of sleep was poor - woke up with bed bugs and itches over my body. Room service failed to replenish Nespresso capsules or clean desk. Lighting was dark and window heavily tinted so ladies you won't be able know if you've applied your makeup/ foundation correctly. For the same price per night I paid - I stayed in the junior suite, you can have a MUCH BETTER EXPERIENCE on other hotels on Collins street. I Would not recommend this to friend or families. Had high hopes for this the hotel due to the location but highly doubt I would return for future stay unless truly desperate.
Location is fantastic, next to the Block Arcade, and handy for all Melbourne has to offer with trams outside the door. We stayed in a basic room and it was plenty big enough, clean and comfortable.
Hotel was very nice. Only one thing that spoilt our stay was the terrible noise we encountered at 8 o clock saturday morning. We were wanting to have a sleep in, but got woken up by this terrible noise of jack hammers . Spoke to lady in foyer, who said there was work going on underneath hotel. That is the only thing that spoilt our weekend. We would stay there again. It is central and easy to come and go.
Well presented, clean rooms with comfy bedding and great city views. Central and within walking distance to most things in the city. Will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Melbourne
This contemporary hotel is a 5-minute walk from Flinders Street rail station, 1.1 km from the historic Princess Theatre and 1.5 km from Crown Casino and Entertainment Complex.
The streamlined rooms and suites come with 40-inch flat-screen TVs, iPod docks and Wi-Fi (paid). They also include minibars and tea and coffeemaking facilities. Upgraded units add sofabeds. Room service is available.
There's an airy restaurant and a bar, as well as a gym and an indoor pool. Other amenities include an airport shuttle, laundry facilities and valet parking. Babysitting services are available for a fee.
WIFI is useless aircon is very fiddly , cant turn off ceiling lights without turning off everything pillows too hard with no option for soft... nice place let down by silly little things.
when checking out i pointed out that the breakfast charge was incorrect as it was not mine but a friends in another room. however I paid the breakfast as a gift for my friend, instructing staff to remove it from my friend's bill, which we found out later did not happen. thus the breakfast was paid for TWICE. somewhere the message didn't get through from one person to teh next as instructed (breakfast was supposed to be removed from teh other room's bill). this was poor attention considering the rest of the service.
Wonderfully friendly/ welcoming and helpful however the main drawback was the extremely loud air-conditioner/ the lack of dressing gown /no introduction to the loyalty program and rooms a little dusty and dated...
