Great hotel to stay rooms are well designed and all facilities I would need. The restuarant appeared to be understaffed I got my meals after more than 30 minutes however the customer service was fantastic so was the quality of the food, so it didn't really bother me. Tv in the rooms only usuable if you're buying movies to watch. Overall I loved it and would definitely stay there again. Hint try their Old fashioned cocktail on the menu

Very convenient hotel. Stayed here during a major refurbishment. Would come back to see how things are when completed. Room was large and most importantly clean.
Booking was easy through the Accor Advantage Plus telephone reservation system. Greeting at Reception was warm and friendly and an upgrade was made available at no charge. Our request for soy milk to be delivered to our room was dealt with quickly, as was our request for our baggage to be stored after we checked out the next day while we toured the city.
Employees were great but unfortunately pool out of order for the weekend. We had specifically chosen the Novotel due to the pool for our children and paid a higher fee for accommodation for this reason. Our kids were shattered which put a dampener on what should have been a great weekend. .
Friendly staff and a great breakfast, however the rooms are a bit dated. Even worse I had booked a king size bed but unfortunately they were overbooked and I was forced to move to a queen sized room.
Stayed at the Novotel on Collins on two occasions over the last couple of years.
The first, was on the 2nd October 2015. My wife and I were staying as it was the night of our wedding. As we arrived clearly from our wedding, the gentleman at checkin gave us a free upgrade and a late check out. They also delivered a complementary cheese platter to our room which was a lovely touch. However, the following morning, we were called by a different gentleman at the reception telling us we were late for check out. As we were already packed and about ready to leave, we didn t raise the conversation of a late check out from the night before.
That said, I was a bit annoyed at this. Not so much that it wasn t communicated but more from the tone of the guy who spoke to me in the morning. But as we were there for our first stay a married couple. Wasn t worth a further conversation at that point.
That said, the hotel is lovely with almost flawless service.
On a second stay, we did a staycation and were provided with great service. The checkin staff even supplied a phone charger as requested as we forgot ours.
The hotel is comfortable and is in a great location. Would recommend
I was initially given a room so far away from the lifts, it felt unsafe and isolated. I asked and was moved. There was no hot chocolate scanners in the room. For someone who doesn't drink tea or coffee, there was nothing for me to drink. No complimentary water either. I ordered a hot chocolate and glass of milk. They were delivered in polystyrene cups! Hard to believe. Just horrible to drink milk from that. I expected a proper glass at the very least. The bed was extremely hard, not what I have ever experienced in quality hotel. The sheets were also not of the normal high quality hotel standard, they were hot and I assume they contained polyester. I had a terrible night sleep. I shall not stay again with this Novotel.
I have stayed at Novotel Melbourne over a number of years and this is definitely the worst by far. Check-in in was fine but upon entering the room it was dark (the rooms are always poorly lit), the bathroom floor under the vanity was dirty. Mould was growing in the grout in shower recess and the bathroom floor looked dirty and definitely not mopped. I ordered a movie and the volume on the movie channels wasn't working. Call for a technician twice and a few hours later a technician turned up and advised that the movie box was broken so he fixed it. I was not charged for the movie so no problem. The following day I tried to watch a movie again but this time the remote control didn't work on the movie channel only the TV channels. Called for a technician again and he replaced the sensor. The first night I had a shower the water was luke warm and on the hottest setting. This wasn't good but I waited till the morning in the hope that it was a minor issue. The following morning there was absolutely no hot water. I called reception and they advised that some of the boilers weren't working and as the hotel was at full capacity there was increased consumption of the water. I was basically told I could complain about it t the general manager. I advised that complaining about it to the general manager was not going to give me a hot shower. I asked if someone would call me back to advise when the situation was rectified, I never received a call. Instead I went out and came back in the afternoon only to find the water was still luke warm. It wasn't until approx. 8pm that I could have my first hot shower in 2 days. Other little issues which were not such a big deal but by this time I had enough. Tea, coffee, sugar was never replenished. I had to ask for it. The cups were never washed, I had to wash them myself which I found unusual. The bed was never made properly. The covers were just thrown over the ,mattress without the sheets being smoothed out. Honestly I should've just stayed home because I dont know what I paid for. I am still undecided as to whether I should write review on Trip Advisor because as I said after many stays at this hotel it was the 1st very bad experience.
The most disappointing part was that there was absolutely no mention or offer or apology of the instances that occurred. reception knew all about them because I was on the phone every day complaining about something. I was not asked about my stay upon checkout because if I was then I would've made my disappointment known.
I expected SOMTHING for the inconvenience but instead I got nothing. Sadly I will not return to the Novotel in Melbourne again. I am back in Melbourne in two weeks and I wont be staying there.
The staff were unbelievable and I couldn't rate them any higher. The room had holes in one wall and bits of plaster over the floor - there was greyled writing on the same wall indicating that repair work needed to be done. The bathroom shower was also mouldy. I wouldn't recommend wasting your money on staying here given those things. The bed was super comfy though.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Novotel during Grand Final weekend. The hospitality was excellent and location very good. It was a 30 minute walk to the MCG. The hotel is additionally located very closely to Bourke St which was great for shopping. Would definitely stay here again.
We had an enjoyable stay at the hotel. I had not stayed there since the renovations and it was definitely a pleasant surprise. The family room we had was spacious and ideal for our family of four.
Nothing was a problem at the Hotel and we got an added bonus of a late check out which worked perfectly for our flights and being able to have another shop before we had to pack up and go.
Our trip was a family get together with a little shopping and to attend the football, we find the location very convenient, to all of those activities.
I was looking forward to coming back here as we have been a couple of years ago when it was being remodelled. Unfortunately we were disappointed - it felt like the room had received a rushed cleaning job which left a general 'dirty' feeling in the room. The bathroom had dirt marks on the walls and the bench hadn't been wiped properly. The bed had two tiny thin pillows, I knew not to expect a grand 5 star hotel but did expect more. The worst is that there is no advertising that you don't actually get a window that has views outside or to the sky - you get a view to inside the shopping centre which is covered with a plastic roof. I don't like not being able to see the sky and it made me feel very closed in, I really didn't appreciate not being advised of the roof situation before booking the room. And yes, you can see inside everyone else's room at night VERY clearly. We asked to be changed to a room which had a window to outside but were advised they were all booked out. I don't think this hotel deserves the 5 star rating it has, it's more of a 3.5-4 star. The cleanliness and services you actually get for your money just isn't up to the 5 star label.
Location is excellent, right in the heart of the city and directly connected to all the shopping malls. Flinders street with all the fashionable eats is one block away. Staff is super friendly and the breakfast is very good by any standard.
Shower was impossible to get right. Constantly changed between scalding and cold. Food is nice but expensive. Cleaners changed the towels even though they were hung next to the sign saying "hang here to save..." and screwed with the AC temp every day so it was either hot or freezing when I got back.
U get wht U pay for...it's right smack city Central....outside zee free trams...it's clean....but it's not sound proof....decent n appropriately priced
A pleasant stay. Some buffet breakfast food items were unstocked for an extended period (soy milk was out for two of our four days) but overall great. The parking was a tad expensive at $45 a day. The spa was out of action for three out of four days. As usual I couldn't use my Accor free night. But everything else was great. Clean and tidy, modern and efficient. I could not connect my device to the in room TV HDMI input as the remote did not allow a change to this input. The restaurant evening meal was excellent. 4.8 stars.
Extremely efficient and courteous service. Dining and reception staff were exceptional and reception at the ground level entrance was outstanding best service I have had for some time. Keep up the good work.
I stay at this hotel when on business in Melbourne and also recommend to my clients looking for a conference venue in Melbourne. Brilliant city centre location and first class meeting rooms. love the refurbished accommodation - comfortable beds, good work desk and a nice strong shower - just what I need. I've had some great feedback from my clients about Novotel on Collins and I've always had positive experiences too. Well done!
Really love this city hotel. Within walking distance to anywhere from Collins Street. Friendly and professional staff, very large appointed beautiful room and extremely quiet. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. Will come back again.
Really well located in the heart of Collins Street. The brand new shopping mall next door is nicely integrated to the hotel. Rooms are renovated and well appointed although some feel a long walk from the lift well. Online check in an interesting concept but arrival experience felt like a normal checkin (i.e. what s the point?)
This was my first stay at the Novotel on Collins, and I think I will be back. All of the staff I encountered during my one night stay were delightful and pleasantly efficient. The staff in the restaurant were especially lovely and looked after me well (and the lovely Krish was a standout in this respect) The room was comfortable and the desk was large enough to work on, with a conveniently located power point for my laptop.
Stayed here for 2 nights for work. Was put in a deluxe king room on the 7th floor. The hotel and room were clean and no issues with the room itself other than the step near the door which is a bit hazardous. Being the last room on the floor had its pluses (close to the gym and quiet) and minuses ( my room didn't get cleaned and a room service tray from another guest was there for two days sitting on the floor). Overall a solid hotel in a great location in the CBD.
The service here is great! The food options are endless and it is delicious but the bedroom supplies like glasses are low and there wasnt any handwashing but if you are staying in the hotel for a week or so it is great!
I'd say a good hotel located in a very convenient street in the Melbourne CBD. Just 2 streets away from Flinder St, and Tram stations are just a stone throw away. It is also situated just beside The Block Arcade so shopping and food options are aplenty.
The hotel has a small pool and jacuzzi together with the gym. Gym equipment is adequate and it faces the inner courts of the hotel.
Room amenities is lacking though. No slippers, no toothbrush. The slippers would be useful as I visited during winter period. Otherwise, I have no complains overall.
All went very smoothly from check in to check out. Only issue may be we were further-est from the lift to our rooms so was quite a walk for the mother-in-law who was with us.
Big family room. very accessible to local highlight. breakfast was good, but not fantastic due to somewhat limited variety. would return to stay if back in the city.
Just in the heart of Melbourne downtown, close walking distance to all the major sites around the city... this hotel is all location location location! Breakfast buffet in the morning had a wide variety of selection and was an awesome addition to the value.
Good rooms, great location and friendly staff. Pool and gym are small though and very noisy and busy during the school holidays. Breakfast is quite decent with a wide selection.
Day 1, 2 and 3 of our stay was the worse. I requested for housekeeping service and had to remind at least twice before my room was being attended. Even simple request, e.g requesting for tissue papers was not attended to promptly. I had to remind. On the last day, I received an invoice which was charged an additional AUD9 for breakfast at Lane Bar which we, admittedly ordered 2 cups of soy latte on 30 Dec as takeaways and I paid cash immediately upon purchase but it was charged to my room as flat white . We don t drink flat white at all to begin with. After I got the invoice, I went down to clarify with one of your customer service personnel (name : Neha) who was manning the check-in desk and she said she would investigate the matter and waive the charges if it s true. I told her off, that there was nothing to waive in the first place when I had paid cash for 2 cups soy latte. She immediately agreed and I paid cash (roughly AUD43.90) for the room service that we had on 24 Dec. And on the last day, upon checking out, we requested for concierge service to get our bags from our room down, again I had to call to remind twice. We waited for about half an hour before we are being attended to. To sum it all up, the service at Novotel Melbourne on Collins is grossly inefficient, I don t feel the hospitality and sincerity of your service personnel. It is so different from the Novotel that we stayed at Darling Harbour last year, whereby the gentleman working in the concierge was so warm and friendly, giving us complimentary coffee almost everyday. I feel the warmth and sincerity in him, but not from any of your personnel in the one I just stayed at Melbourne. Giving me excuse by saying that this happens during peak season is not acceptable to me. Being in the hotel industry whereby service must be of utmost priority, you must anticipate all these to happen and increase staff capacity, however best it may be.
Great location in the heart of the city. The room was spacious and clean. Staff were friendly and service prompt. Great selection on the buffet breakfast.
As for the room and hotel, great, however check in badly. The boy who received us said that we did not have breakfast included, we lost the first, we checked that we had it. We claimed, they gave us an expense of 20 per person in the hotel restaurant as compensation. They did not offer us a bottle of champagne because they were newlyweds, we complained and they told us to drink the bottle of wine that is in the fridge in the room and then they wanted to charge us. Anyway ... a little disgusted with the deal
Positives were staff and service were really good. The 20 series rooms are terrible, zero natural light and really poor internal lighting, equivalent of spending a few days in a dungeon. I have stayed at a number of transit lounges with walls for windows that are far brighter, quite depressing really.
The Novotel on Collins is located in the heart of downtown. They offer free wifi and breakfast with many room packages. The rooms are good, but many face inwards towards the hotel plaza, meaning no natural light or view.
