We enjoyed our stay at the Novotel. we have stayed in this fantastic hotel many times, and we were not disappointed. from our checking in, to a lovely complimentary bottle of wine for my husbands birthday, to a scumptious dinner, to the overindulgent buffet breakfast and the kind and conscientious staff. we will be back!!
We had a great time at the Novotel, my only complaint would be the pillows are too flat.
I stayed here in August 2015. The rooms are spacious and staff was very helpful. The food was delicious. The location of the hotel is very good and you can do a lot of shopping at walking distance.
Stayed here overnight while attending a conference at the hotel. Hotel team are very professional. Room was nice and tidy. Didn't get a chance to explore the facilities.
Staff were all very friendly. Room was clean and well maintained. The sound proofing was great. We couldn't hear any outside noises at all.
No USB ports to charge phones. Only 1 chair in the room. 1 bottle of water to share.
Complimentary birthday bottle of wine & nibbles was nice.

The staff were friendly and helpful and check-in was prompt and painless, as was our check out.
The breakfast buffet was restocked during busy periods and had a good selection to choose from.
The room we had (1331) needed the leading edge of the curtain re-hung, but other than that it was well presented. Would have been nice to have body lotion included in the toiletries.
Benjamin from concierge was the most genuine,kind and polite staff member we have dealt with.He has excellent knowledge of Melbourne and recommended a hidden treasure for our evening meal which was absolutely delightful.We will return for people like Ben.Thank you.

Enjoyed our stay at the Novotel Collins St. The hotel is well located in the heart of Melbourne. We got a good deal. Room was comfortable and a good size. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only thing to comment on was the bed which I found a little too unforgiving for my back and neck.

It was just a flying visit, and the location and standard of this hotel ensured it was stress free. The standard of service is very good, and meals enjoyable.

Stayed two nights on business. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. I particularly liked the comfortable reclining chair, much nicer for relaxing than a more usual upright one. Only thing I would rate lower would be the cost of breakfast: $15 for a cup of tea and some toast I had to toast myself, from cheap sliced packet bread - not the best. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to friends and colleagues.

They charge me extra $150 for cleaning fee, I've been travelling to different country and stay at many hotels but never have to pay for cleaning service. Is that mean that we have to clean our room by ourself before we leave?? Then why they have cleaning service?? This is the first time I have to pay for the room cleaning service.. I've been send an email to ask about this to hotel management but there is no answer. I'm very dissapointed, $150 is much!! It is 70% from hotel rate per night!! I'm not recomend this hotel even the location is good, but I saw many hotels in this area better choose the other hotel!!!
Last week i had to be in Melbourne and needed somewhere central to stay.
I chose the Novotel on Collins as it was close to everywhere i need to go to.
The Hotel itself was good.
The rooms were clean and of a good size.

My issue was with the check in procedure.
i don't mind waiting if it is busy or i am waiting at peak times.
This was at 7.30 pm and there was only a family in front of me in line to check in.
There was one person doing the check in.
It took over 30 minutes of waiting to get checked in.
This was in a hotel with one check in front of me, not at a busy time. Eventually a second person came from out the back and i was checked in promptly.
The room had been booked and paid for in advance , all i had to do was swipe my credit card and sign.
Everything is OK. The bed tends to move around too much in the room that I'm staying hence it was quite "instable"
Nice location on one of the main streets in Melbourne. Friendly staff. No parking and the fees are high for valet. Good room size. Walking distance to lots of great sights including the river and Chinatown. Close to lots of restaurants and pubs. Recommended

Lovely room, clean and well-appointed. Great advice on where to eat out and reasonably priced bar. I thought the restaurant didn't look very appealing compared to the rest of the hotel, although the menu looked good. Maybe screen it from reception and have dim lighting for evening?
Excellent service ! Everyone is always smiling and all staff go above and beyond. Stayed for 2 weeks with buffet breakfast and valet parking and I enjoyed every second. Very welcoming atmosphere

HI my stay was not the best as all of the buttons on the tv remote did not work, the fridge never worked throughout my stay and also the alarm clock next to the bed continued to go off every morning at 5am
Room we had was pretty sparse.. TV had no foxtel...athroom and shower very small just good enough to sleep in but that's about it

Fantastic location. The bar in the lobby was a great place to relax and unwind. Facilities were great, and the room was really nice and well maintained. The only downside was the bed, which was not very comfortable.
We were made to feel welcome the whole time and the little toy for the girls was appreciated
We have been wanting to give this property a go since they advertise so much. I would say most things were good. The service was a bit lacking. At the restaurant, waiting staff were mostly helpful. Sarah was particularly helpful. The cook doing the breakfast was absolutely horrid bullying a young child when the kid asked for an omelette, instead of helping the kid out, the cooks response was come back when you know what you want. Check out guy was a bit condescending when I tried to pass on the message.
We thought the service was impeccable. The staff were very friendly and remembered our names. We were allowed early check in which was great as we were going to a day game at the football.
Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious. Would of preferred more entertainment such as movies on TV other then paid movies. Maybe purchase a portable scale as well so guess are able to weigh luggage in their room freely with easy access to remove things then weigh again.

Very few downsides, however some areas of the room hadn't been cleaned (remained dusty), and there was a welcome letter for a different guest in the room, which I am sure I would have appreciated had the letter been for me!
Just outside the room was a rather noisy heater/air conditioner that rattled away through the night. I did not lose sleep over it, but the sound was present. It didn't bother me enough to report to staff.
I think theres alot to improve. The colour scheme of the sheets and the headboard really dated and tacky. I think it needs a bit of a revamp. Great service, friendly staff, location is perfect. Its worth every penny for the location. Rooms arent very big but its fine for one person. The beds are really small. I think for a young couple or business its the perfect place to stay.

The service was great and the room very nice and tidy, however, as we had arrived very late from Sydney the night before my son and I were looking forward to a slight sleep-in the next morning. We were very dissappointedly woken by loud jack hammers that started at 7:15am!
At the very least it would have been good to have been told to expect construction work in the morning - we may have worn ear plugs, or booked somewhere else.
Frequent business traveller and usually have waiting in the room: robe, slippers, body moisturiser, body wash and amenities kit (cotton pads / swabs) - however these weren't in the room and had to call down to be requested.
On second day, returned to room after dinner (after departing the room for work in the morning) which had not been serviced. Tried to call down to reception & assistance hotline but there was no answer after several minutes, so went down to reception desk to request fresh towels and toiletries. Over 30 minutes after going down to request, towels and toiletries had not been delivered, so had to place a follow up call to reception (after which they were delivered promptly).
Room was clean and tidy with basic amenities. Able to request for pillows to suit your needs. Location is great, at the heart of CBD.
Really quality hotel which has been recently renovated. Good bar, good options for room service. Having to take two lifts to get to the room is a minor inconvenience. Rooms are spacious and modern.

We were travelling as part of a group and so did not book the room directly. We are Accor members, but were not treated as such despite having identified ourself as members. We were not given the wifi access code, our room was not cleaned on one of our three night stay. The room was extremely dark. We paid for a triple share, yet only had two coffee cups etc. Just felt the whole experience was a bit average. We travel the world and stay in many high end hotels... this just didn't cut it at all.

Bar is pretty good with an interesting rotating selection of beers. The restaurant is a bit dated with the menu like something from 2002, although what I ate was very nice.

Ive stayed multiple times and love the look of the rooms and lobby.
Last time i dropped my necklace beside the TV unit and when i moved the luggage holder it was absolutely disgusting how much dust and dirt was between them. This made sense why i was getting so sneezy. Wine glasses were also grubby which made we wonder how much of pure surface cleaning is done and whether i should bring a black light if i ever stay again.
Staff on reception were friendly but couldn't say the same for the staff in the restaurant.
Ive enjoyed your hotel before, and it is central for my business travel but now I'm not sure if i would stay again to be honest. Thorough cleaning of all the rooms is absolutely required.
When we arrived late evening a number of the lights in our room did not work. It was very dark.. There was no response to calls to Housekeeping (which just went to message) or the general Help no; or reception. I had to go down to reception. The next day our room was not serviced. After returning at 5.00pm it took us three separate efforts to get any attention. We were twice told it would not be serviced, but no reason was given.
Re your question over I booked through Qantas. I have advised them the sat was unsatisfactory. I am a Platinum One

Hotel very well located in the center of Melbourne. Good level of service. From my point of view the rooms are very dark and cleaning in the lobby leaves something to be desired: traces of liquid dripping on several seats make it look uncomfortable.
Great service, nice rooms and appealing decor. Only criticism was that the rooms weren't cleaned to the level I would have expected for a hotel of this price and calibre.

grilled tomatoes no longer provided at breakfast and replaced with rice and other Asian stuff
The most outstanding attribute to this stay was the polite friendliness of all the staff - what ever training is applied, is working well. Long after the trip, one remembers the personal engagements.
A rocky start turned to a very good stay. Our new room was attractive, clean, quiet and comfortable. Staff were all helpful and very nice to deal with. Breakfast was great. The location within easy walking distance to many attractions. Thanks, we enjoyed it!
