Stayed here a couple of times. Normally good but this time not so good. Always get a room with a double bed, but this time was given a single bed. First time to sleep in a single bed in years . Fire alarm or intercom went off at 1.30am - more like a test or false alarm of some sort.It turned off after about 5 minutes but nights sleep was poor. Strangely reception mentioned nothing in the morning when checking out... breakfast , no coffee as machine off so had to remind staff member to turn it on. Not a good stay this time

This amazing hotel located on Collins Street is one that catches the eye - it is classy and has an amazing first apperance, and don't even get me started on how delightful the staff were!
We were offered valet parking and we were glad to take it for the low price it cost us, and everything was above and beyond the standard.

You couldn't pick a better hotel in terms of location. Slap bang in the middle of town, in the 'Parisian' part of Melbourne close to lovely shops, cafes, the garden, Federation Square etc. On top of a shopping mall so easy to grab quick food, pop to chemist etc.

Staying in the new renovated rooms which are nicely done, free wifi, nespresso machine, reproduction Eames Chair in the room etc. No bath which is a shame. My room looks out on the atrium which sounded nice when I read about it on the website but in reality feels a bit claustrophobic and like being in a prison cell. The room service food is good. The pool is a bit small and crowded.
I think 3 out of 5 sums it up.

Other than the hotel lifts not operating, the staff managed well under the circumstances, however this caused a mild anxiety episode with our 7yr old son something that we didn't think we would be experiencing during what was a one-off treat for our boys that were able to attend the afl match at the MCG.
As a family we were also a little disappointed at the appearance of the pool, in desperate need of updating and the high chlorine levels experienced, which I know is necessary but seemed very exsessive and our boys had to wear goggles as their eyes were burning, and the spa was unbearable the first night we arrived too, even for my husband & I.
Staff and breakfast were very welcoming and satisfying.
Thanks

My biggest problem was not the massive renovation work happening at the ground floor shopping.
The major problem was the internet. It was not even a dial up speed internet. Very, very slow. I wasn't able to do work and had to use my own phone as a hot spot to get it working.

The pillows are ridiculously cheap and bad as well.

Breakfast was great, lots of options. The staff is very professional.

The gym is a complete joke. More weights please.

Wasn't overly happy. Our bed was uncomfortable and had red stains on the sheets. The bed was made poorly. The room was noisy. There was a constant whistle noise throughout the night and the fridge was very loud. The tv sensor was hanging down off the tv and there was a box sticking out above the tv. We spend ages trying to get the tv to even turn on. There was mouldy silicon in the shower which was off putting. The breakfast wasn't great either. We went to the restaurant and found the food quite bland. The location is perfect though. Right in the middle of everything with easy access in and out.

I don't usually sleep well away from home but the room was nicely furnished and maintained and the bed and pillows very comfortable. Decent water pressure, not great but good enough. Breakfast buffet had healthy options plus the usual heavy hitters. Only real complaint was noise in nearby rooms on the floor that came through the walls when it really shouldn't have

The general experience from check-in to check-out was outstanding. Our key was ready when we arrived along with our Accorplus pack. Complimentary drink (sparkling wine) was that he only low of the stay. Perhaps you might want to review the brand you stock - it's been the same for all our stays - it's pretty ordinary. Rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. As usual the breakfast is first class. In the past I had been critical of the attention to detail regarding refilling items that had been exhausted. I noted that this was something that staff were right on top of during this experience - well done. All the staff we had contact with were very friendly and helpful. Overall a great place to stay.

I very much enjoyed my time, due to the location, staff, and facilities. I did find the housekeeping a little disruptive due to the time of room servicing- it was fine on the first and second days, but on the day when I had more time in the room it didn't "marry up", and therefore my room was not serviced. I had been out all morning, with the sign on my door to say so, and came home for a nap after lunch. The room servicing was attempted at 330pm. I totally understand this is what happens, and leave rooms get cleaned before stays- so it makes sense, just on the receiving end of it was different. In saying that, the room was clean and tidy, so that was a big tick

I thought the staff were very professional, helpful and courteous. Our room was good, but I thought for a King Superior Room, it would have been more luxurious. The internet in the room was slow.
The bed was ok, but we thought was not up to a standard that we would expect from a good class hotel. We didn't get the good night's sleep we needed because the bed was fairly hard and lumpy. The breakfast and variety was very good.

No windows can be opened for fresh air. The outlook from every room is of the shopping center atrium. If you want a city view, this is not the place. Parking is an additional $47 per night!!!

It is a very nice hotel, reasonably priced and in the perfect locatiob, right in the heard of central business district. Everything is within walking distance and there is also a tram stop just outside. Our room was on level 14, top floor and had everything we needed for a weekend trip (except for toothbrush but I brought mine anyway). Unfortunately they were undergoing a renovation so it was loud but only during the day. I'm giving 4 stars because our room was not cleaned until 4 or 5 pm

Good hotel overall. The staff were friendly and the service was great. I like that I could order pillow from the menu which helped me with a good night sleep. The only comment was the 10 fee for wifi. I have never been asked to pay for wifi so I thought this was a bit cheeky of them. I ended up using my phone instead.

We were very happy with our stay at Novotel on Collins.
Our room was comfortable, clean and well appointed. Overlooking St Collins Lane added to the pleasure.
We dined at the Lane restaurant which we found to be an excellent experience. Food was great and service even better. Knowing we only had to get the lift back to our room made for a relaxing dinner.
Staff, throughout the hotel were extremely polite and helpful.
Novotel on Collins compared favourably with hotels we have stayed at while travelling through UK, Europe and the US.
I am sure we will stay there again when we need an overnight stop in Melbourne.

The room was spacious and comfortable. The location was very handy for what we needed and the late checkout much appreciated.
Only downside was the jackhammers in the morning that spoiled the quiet.

I rate this hotel muchly.

A big shout out to Laura at Reception. She was a gem.
Tobias in the bar is an absolute credit to your organisation. The best type of personality to have in that customer service engagement role - pleasant, funny, knowledgeable and entertaining! Twas an absolute legend. Give him a high five from me!

the bed was very hard and without a topper, just a very thin mattress protector that did not cover the bed. the water on Sunday morning was warm but not hot. no need to temper with cold water.

A good stay. Efficient staff, a pretty good room - clean and practical. Massive plate of food delivered for an in-room breakfast with a very reasonable latte along side. Will likely stay here again.

Overall, our unrecognised honeymoon visit was truly atrocious. Not only was our "room" not clean, it was polluted with black hairs in the bathroom and in our bedsheets. The room was not only the furthest away possible from the lifts, we weren't even considered to be given help for our multitude of bags. In the morning, at 8am, my husband went to the public downstairs toilets, in the lobby area, which smelt and looked as if they hadn't been cleaned properly for weeks. The toilets are what you would expect from a public shopping mall. The lack of attention and care of the hotel's presentation in the disgusting lifts, filled with dirt and dust, as well as the lack of humanity from the staff, was completely unacceptable. The culture of the hotel was awful, symbolised within the disgusting carpet at the front of the hotel, a blackened decaying "NOVOTEL" carpet, more like a used mop head. Fix your complex and start focusing on your customers rather than your profit.

Disappointed when elevators where not working I had to pay $4.50 for a cup of tea from bar because we were unable to get to room Friday night dinner disappointing but waiter was fantastic and sorted it for us

It was the perfect location for our one night city stay before the Grand Final parade. Everything was great including the pool (pool could me more heated)and spa. The only negative was that when we arrived we were informed by a girl on the desk, that if we booked breakfast the night before, we would receive a discount. When we went to book later that night, a different girl, told us that it wasn't possible on our room rate to give that discount. So we didn't book, But in the morning we asked someone else and they did give us the discount. I think your staff need to be more on the same page. But everything else was great. Thank you

Stayed with a large group. Check-in was streamlined even though we all arrived at the same time. Room facilities were good. Breakfast in the dining room was excellent, with very helpful and attentive waiting staff to assist. Super-fast lifts meant there were no delays when coming and going (apart from the long trek from the lift to the room on the opposite side of the building).

This is our worst experience ever staying at Novotel on Collins. Our decision to utilise expedia discounted price was a disaster. The smaller bed was way too hard. Ended up with sleep deprivation. Must choose king bed next time.

Great location! Amazing service during our stay. Excellent follow up on requests of staff also. The restaurant appeared to close fairly early in the weekend - we went for dinner at 9.05pm - and missed our chance. The room was spacious and well kept with excellent views. Would definitely stay again.

Friendly staff, good choice of food for breakfast and lunch. Tidy rooms, just need better lighting as was very dark still with all turned on

I noticed when I went to my room that there were not doona covers on the beds. There was only a sheet under the doona and a 2nd sheet on top of the doona. When I spoke with house kepping they advised that this was how the beds were now made up and that they did not have doona covers. Although this might be a standard practice for the Novotel I do not find this acceptable as I dont beleive that the doonas are washed in between different guests using them. I was offered a blanket to use instead which was good. But I dont beleive that I should have to contact house keeping to get clean bedding every time I stay at the Novotel.

doesnt clean the room clean

doesnt clean the room clean
seems housekeeping are very lazy
good location
unfriendly staff

To be honest I don t think I should even give this hotel even a one star. I m still confused by how its rated 5 star.... My friends and I stayed at this hotel last night and to not make any errors we called to book our rooms. Online it stated $217 and when we called they charged us $247. Only to find out when we arrived the room they booked for us was smaller and we paid more. We kept telling them how there was an error and they said in the system we booked a wrong room... when we called we literally emphasised on the bedding and room we saw. They said they don t have any of those available and mind you we drove from 6 hours away and got here late. The late night manager made us wait for a pretty long time only to tell us that we need to pay more to upgrade and that what we saw online and even we showed the manager how online it was still showing the $217 price. They said they don t know. So we end up paying $320+ for a room that was advertised on $217 and waiting such a long time after driving for so long as well as first they said they don t have those rooms available. To be honest similar situation happened before and that hotel handle the situation better as well as fixed everything. However night manager Mr Farhan the manager talked to us and disappeared when we asked for his name. Then we had to ask the other employee to call him back. The service was so poor as well as the help and solutions that we were given were of a poor choice. We had nowhere to go as it was late so we ended up paying extra. I would consider choosing a different hotel compare to this as the service was not 5 star at all and the help was not helpful at all. I m their member and pay my fees but would really consider canceling it and start staying somewhere else as it doesn t seem to be worth it. Hope this will help them either fix this issue for future reference or maybe just stay somewhere else its not worth the trouble and headache because the service is really bad when you actually need to use it.
