Great location and moderate kind of hotel. House kepping staffd are quick and good service. Buffet breakfast menu doesn't change and got tierd of eating same menu for 3 days. Not too many options for 4 star hotel. Overall good.

the room was clean and fresh every day and all staff were pleasant and helpful...as always. I always feel welcome and special when I stay at Novotel on Collins, which is why I don't bother with anywhere else when I stay in Melbourne. The most comfortable beds too :) Keep up the excellence!!!!

My room was on top floor. A rabbit warren took me over 200 steps from lift to my room. Looked for fire escapes etc as its quite a journey if disaster struck. Room was comfortable with view of inner courtyard shopping mall. Amenities fine, room a bit ragged with large visible tears in carpet and damage to door. At 6.30 am the disco music from the mall on the ground level started pumping and that ended my restful sleep. No doubt the staff cleaning mall enjoyed it. So many rooms, by 250 pm first day staff had not made it to my room and I wanted to get in. I was booked and paid for 3 days but stayed 2 as the noise was too much and I came for rest after leg surgery. Staff very nice but overwhelmed at check in/out times. Lanes cafe breakfast excellent. Close to everything in City centre but unless you had to come to City why would you?

What lets this property down is parking. I had two visits this week and both were not without events. The first I waited outside for the desk staff to get their attention and they were all to busy talking and mucking around to be facing the guest despite tooting the horn and then calling the hotel from the car. The second there was nowhere to stop as all the spaces for 5 min drop off were full ( yet there was no customers at the desk ). I then went around the block three (3) times to find that none of the vehicles had moved. I had no choice ( because of traffic ) to park over the road to unload bags and by the time I returned to the car I had a $155.00 parking infringement. This again did not please me at all. I have to admit this is the worst hotel I have tried to access in all my years as a member both nationally and internationally. The staff at the desk were fine and I had a complimentary breakfast voucher left in my room with a note which was a nice gesture despite the fact I don't eat breakfast but they would not know that. I doubt I would use this hotel again for accommodation or functions (past experiences have soured me on that one).

This hotel is wonderfully located. It is close to great restaurants, good shopping, some attractions, free tram rides etc. Next to the hotel there are 2 good restaurants: a Korean and a Japanese. A supermarket is 50 meters away on foot.

While the hotel looks good, the quality of the tidiness and maintenance of the room is questionable.

First the quality of the room. The beds are soft, which makes for a bad night's sleep. When two people are lying on the bed, you can feel the bed sinking in the middle. I still had to move to the edge of the bed so I wouldn't feel like I was 'sliding' into the center of the bed. In addition, one of the bedside lights was broken and I must have asked for it to be repaired at least 6 to 8 times during my 3-day stay there. In addition to not being repaired, there was no note to explain (for example) why it was not done.

The housekeeper was extremely "reluctant" to replenish bathroom amenities. The shower gel, shower cap, dressing table etc. they were not replenished every day, and I ended up having to order every day. And even when I called, I ended up with the wrong items once! Slippers and robes must also be requested. It is not something I expect from a Novotel hotel.

Hotel was nice, service pretty good. Very disappointed to find the description of the room we chose from the internet did not really describe the room we had. I thought we had been given a lesser standard room but the receptionist assured us this was a queen premier room.

The hotel is great, we have stayed there for the past 3 years as we love being close to the CBD. Breakfast was included this time and the first morning we went down to eat the omelettes were stone cold, very disappointing, after that we went elsewhere for breakfast. I had to ask for a few extra tea bags as we didn't get very many in our room. On the day we checked out I was told I owed another $59 as I had been undercharged last November. That was extremely annoying as we booked in November, 2016 and paid $675.75 for 3 nights Sunday till Wednesday. I haven't checked my credit cards since returning home and do trust that I haven't been charged anything additional. I requested a Collins Street room and that was achieved. The staff are great as well especially the gentlemen on the front door, always helpful anytime day or night. I am not normally one to complain but as you are wanting feedback feel that I should mention it.

There is a Korean staff so you can check in and out conveniently. The location is in the middle of Melbourne's yolk, so it's like a gangster. Breakfast is also excellent. Bed condition is okay. However, considering that the messy items such as desks and tables were not organized, it is questionable whether they are properly cleaned.

Nice Ambience. Presents a Welcoming Aura. A Well-styled functional yet elegant design. Offers lots of facilities and space for public events and workshops. Situated right on the Collins Street easily accessible from Swanston, Flinders, Bourke, and Elizabeth Streets. The location is at a short walking distance from the Flinders Street Metro Train Station and tram stops on all surrounding streets within a circle of 50 m radius. The spaces are well presented and services are top-end. Popular venue for hosting public events and functions.

Having stayed at the Novotel on Collins many times over the last 20 years, This was the worst experience we have encountered.
We asked for a room with a attrium view on booking & confirmed this on arrival with reception the lady told us we had a attrium view room ,we were given the keys to 820 a dungeon no view a room looking into a concrete wall no exterior light. A lie by reception.
The mini bar was so old it allowed the ice to melt in the ice bucket I asked for to keep drinks cold.
The room wasn,t made in the days we stayed there even with us leaving out the make up room sign
Asked reception for a bottle opener arrived a hour later very embarrising as we invited friends up for a drink .Warm beer & no way of opening them.
When checking out we were told we had run up an internet bill even when we are Accor members .

So all up a very disappointing stay at the Novotel on Collins

Absolutely excellent stay. All boxes ticked plus some. Green tea in my room (yay!), there's a pool, really interesting view over a modern lightwell space, great selection of Japanese scotch at the bar & reception (especially Te Rieva) is LOVELY.

Te Rieva remembered my room number from the previous night (I helped with which floor) & I when asked about a big poster in their foyer, she asked if I had kids, I said 3 & she had 3 gift bags delivered to my room!

Above & beyond. Well done, Novotel - Te Rieva is a keeper.

Thanks to Karen the manager for leaving some rocky road in our room. That was very thoughtful.
Loved the room and the casual feel of the foyer and bar / dinning area. Staff were friendly and the location was really great for what we wanted to do in Melbourne.
Will on sell the property for sure.

We booked a Junior Suite online and were a little disappointed with what qualifies as a suite, probably comparing it to what would qualify as a superior room in other properties.

The location was fantastic and probably the best in Melbourne for access to shopping and dining.

Overall a good experience and we will stay there again.

Great experience. From the service from valet to the front counter staff, all staff members were friendly and helpful.
Its location is very 'central'. Close to restaurants and shopping is literally a few steps away.

My stay here was excellent. Greatly appreciate the restaurant staff at breakfast who made my day by managing my "team of 5 people" during peak hour and kept smiling despite the rush of the hour.

The hotel is so near tram stations and walking distance to the train station too. That was convenient.

The front desk staff, Anais and Hiraj, were efficient on all my requests as well as my check out process.

Great location and very clean and modern rooms. Bed was comfortable. They had a hairdryer, iron, mini bar and tea/coffee facilities. My room included breakfast but the check in staff failed to mention that to me, he didn't tell me about breakfast but when I asked he said I could pay for it. I checked out without knowing about breakfast. Luckily I asked staff at the restaurant and they let me know. My loyalty card didn't load at the time so I didn't get my usual loyalty benefits. The bathroom was a bit small but was nice and clean. There was a lot of construction noise at 7am so I couldn't sleep. But they have a nice pool and small gym so I utilised that which was convenient. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

Great Central location within walking distance to both Flinders street train station and the popular eateries and cafes of Flinders lane. Ideal for both the business traveller and for families/couples couples looking to be close to Bourke St Mall shops, night life and walking distance to just about everything that Melbourne has to offer. If you can't walk there then trams & trains are at your doorstep.

Also less than 5min walk to high end shopping up Collins St as well as popular theatres and stage shows.

Hotel itself has recently been updated but there are also a handful of times that haven't although these are still clean and actually rather large in size. Pool and gym area is indoor and quite basic so nothing special here but found that depending on timing is generally very under utilised. Overall great hotel and fantastic central location.

I recently stayed in this hotel for a business tri...

I recently stayed in this hotel for a business trip, and I had a horrible experience.

I had a Deluxe King Room that cost $260-$340 per night, but when I got to the room, it barely had any amenities: no complimentary bottled water, no bath robe, no bedroom slippers, no lotion, no dental kit, etc. While that sounds like it's just "first world problems," I would like to note that I have stayed in 3-star hotels in developing countries where I was paying a lot less, but those amenities were available.

The room was also very dark as the lights were mostly from lamps only. It was so dark, I felt like I was in a DC movie. The only consolation was that it was spacious.

After my second night, I got woken up at around 6 am by loud noises. At first, I thought it was coming from the guests in the room above me, but I remembered that I was on the top floor. There was metal scraping, heavy things being dropped, and even some hammering. I had hoped it would go away, but when it didn't, I called the front desk, and they said they would look into it and the manager would call me back. When I didn't get a call after 15 minutes, and I still couldn't go back to sleep because the noises were still there, I called them again, and it was only after that the manager called me back. Note that no one even came to my room to check out what's going on. She just explained that the noises were coming from the service elevator near my room, because they were doing some work on it. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY NEEDED TO DO THAT AT 6 IN THE MORNING. She also wasn't very apologetic, and just told me that they'll move me to another room, without any reassurance that I won't be disturbed anymore. I asked what if the noise can still be heard, and how would that help me, because obviously, I won't get my sleep back, and I would need to pack and unpack again, while also still needing to get ready for work. To which, the manager asked me what would I have them do. I was so frustrated, because again, she did not even apologize, and as far as I know, it's her job to make sure that I am comfortable.

In any case, I just accepted the offer of a free breakfast and to be moved to a Junior SUITE. However, note that the food wasn't even good and most were cold.

When I got back to my new room later, which was supposedly better than my last one, there weren't any noticeable differences in terms of size and furniture. It was still dark, and the only difference was that the amenities that were missing in the previous room were there, and it had an espresso machine. Fortunately, this one was quieter, and I was able to get more sleep. The manager also gave me a complimentary platter of sliced fruit, but without a fork, so I guess I'm meant to eat it with my hands.

On my final day there, I was given the opportunity for a quick check out as there was a queue, which was good, but an hour or so later, I received my tax invoice and saw that they had charged me for items from the mini bar, which I didn't even touch. Even if they had hired the police to check for finger prints, they won't find any, but they were charging me more than $50 for consuming them. Just when I thought that my nightmare with them was over, they still managed to screw things up, so I had to give them a call to dispute the charges. Thankfully, they reversed it an hour later. However, I will not be staying there again, and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO so, either.

All staff were so welcoming and accomodating. From check in to check out my experience in the hotel was excellent. I particularly want to commend the breakfast staff for their prompt attention to details (such as clearing and re-setting tables, and reorganising table arrangements to cater for additional diners at the last minute, at that crazy breakfast rush).

I also hope that you do take the time to have a chat and listen to some of your bar staff about their own personal ideas for their cocktail creations. Recently, on the night of Thursday, June 15th after a late flight from Sydney and check in, myself and my travel companion went to the bar for a relaxing drink and I got to talking to two friendly bar guys who had some great ideas for some great cocktails- now I realise that your bar on a Thursday night was not the rocking young persons cocktail bar- (more like the middle aged business mans bar), but how inspiring for your staff to be able to dabble with their own creations and recommendations. These two guys in particular had told me about how they had previously talked about ideas....... why not let them have a go, or tempt your guests on occasions with their ideas. They were so friendly and happy to be at their job and talking about their ideas.... why not further inspire your staff and give them a little more say in their craft. I would love to have tried a few of these tasty sounding cocktails....
i hope this is read and those guys tracked down. They were an asset to your company and trade.

Thanks for the overall great experience- I will be back and I will be recommending the Novotel on Collins to others.

Another stay at this wonderful hotel. The location in the CBD is so handy for shopping & restaurants. Staff are friendly and the room was large and clean (10th floor). Highly recommended. Will be back.
