The most TERRIBLE experience. I was trying to send 12,900.00$ for my kitchen remodel but they rejected it because i have never sent that high amount of money. I even spoke to a supervisor. I wonder HOW DO I SEND a large amount of money IF I CANNOT send it for the first time??? So that it will not be an "unusual" amount of money. I verified my pal pal account twice on the phone, changed my password TWICE. This request ended up resulting into 3 hours on the phone with the helpless desk.... I HAVE THE MONEY. I WILL NEVER USE PAY PAL again. They advertise, "send money to anyone using your checking account, debit card, or credit card." NOPE FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. Account closed.
I appreciate the convience paypal offers, but they are illegally slow in refunds. Purchases come out right away, but it takes four days(???) to issue a refund. Paypal holds on to this money to extract every penny of interest from you. Also, they charge a 1% on YOUR MONEY to make a deposit right away, instead of two business days for no fee. Paypal is ripping people off left and right, and I find their greediness despicable. I almost wish I did not have an account.

I bought a guitar from a seller on eBay. The seller sent out a Flat Rate envelope to another address in my zip code. I was fighting with eBay on this matter and filed a case and filed one with PayPal. Ebay awareded me the case but everything was on hold since I filed a case with paypal. I have been fighting with paypal for weeks to get my money back. I even have a picture of the flate rate envelope that I aquired from USPS. I have been using paypal for many years and this is the worst customer service from a company I have ever seen. No one will call you and you can't call them.

Never get a credit card from PayPal. Always go with Chase. I had an account change with my bank which caused payments to my PayPal and Chase credit card to fail. A simple call to Chase was all it took to resolve the issue with them. With PayPal, my credit card was immediately cancelled and my credit score was lowered by 10 points. Of course, there was nothing customer service could do for me as well. As other reviewers have noted, if you have any alternative to PayPal for any service PayPal offers, go with the alternative.

This is the WORST service I have ever received. A vendor (thief) took my money and provided a fake tracking number, I reported it to PayPal and they closed my case whit no further considerations or any answer. DO NOT USE PayPal! FRIENDS/FAMILY BEWARE! And here's why...PayPal refunded a $381.50 payment made 2 months earlier by a friend and then gave me a NEGATIVE BALANCE. Now I am stuck paying her bill! The refund request was originally denied by PayPal. Then the "friend" requested the funds via her Bank (which I do not have access to the financial institution's name, account number, no info). PayPal said the refund was given because "I did not have sellers protection". I am not a business, so how does this apply to an individual or friends/family transaction? I now have a negative PayPal balance; which I have never had in the 10 plus years I've had an account. PayPal robbed me of $381.50. This money was sent to me for a non-refundable payment I made on behalf of said "friend" in March 2018. Two months later, PayPal returned her money, placing a financial burden on me. Now, that PayPal has returned this money, I expect the other party to use their bank in the same manner.
I do not have any recourse to get the money. I can't take her to small claims court as I live out of state. I do not have access to her financial information as this was not a business transaction. DO NOT STEAL ANYMORE OF MY HARD EARNED MONEY. USE a cash APP instead. NEGATIVE Stars
My PayPal account got hacked. Someone signed in with my username and password, sent cash from my bank account to some other bank in a foreign country, and changed my interface to Spanish. Thank god for Google Translate. I tried disputing the transaction, but, of course, it shows that I sent it. You can't dispute something that you sent yourself, even if it WASN'T REALLY YOU THAT DID IT. I've tried chatting with a live agent instead of a useless bot. I've tried reaching ANYONE IN ANY DEPARTMENT by phone, with no luck. Every phone number refers me back to the website options. I've searched all over for a fraud department contact or an email, but there is NOTHING!!!
I finally let my bank handle this. They can deal with PayPal (or the foreign bank, I don't care anymore). I got my money back, NO THANKS TO PAYPAL. I'm closing my PayPal account now.

And how could it be otherwise, PayPal declines the takeover with a flimsy reason. Good - cancel everything and people ATTENTION BUYER PROTECTION does not exist! They have stolen my money and obviously others too. If you send funds with an email you have never sent to before as a personal transfer, they only confirm the email format. You do not get to verify the recipient identity. If a mistake or typo or mistake is made, and the email happens to be real, you loose your money. No recourse. This is failure in their system, but they will point to the EULA and say you signed up for this--in good faith I would expect the service provider to let me verify the recipient before sending. They say "no error triggered" -- of courser, a step that does not exist in the workflow cannot trigger an error, it is omitted. This happens so much that they have a SOP in place to address it. If I could do "0" stars I would...this is robbery, and it's on a scale as such that they will fight to not set a precedent of refund.

i see a lot of comment saying the same thing that happened to me. At frist they seem like a nice company, then out of no where on a good selling day they lock every dollar you make. They froze my account and made it seem like if i put tracking number on my items(like a always do) that my account would go back to normal. after sending the tracking numbers they sent a email saying i wouldnt be able to see a penny of my sales until 6 months from now. why make me lock up 800 dollars in sales when i could have used another services!!! I've been a loyal Paypal customer for YEARS. This week, a customer buys something from me off Ebay. I message the customer and say I'll send same day. He messages me back and says his computer was hacked and not to send and that he would be filing a claim with Paypal.
The claim comes through and I immediately refund his money, but Paypal charged me $20 for the reversal AND would not refund the $17.49 they charged me for the transaction fee. I spoke to Samantha Clair, a supervisor, and she said there was nothing she could do. Ebay already refunded my seller fee, they are the same company, so not sure why the refuse to credit something that was in no way my fault, but here we are.
I will NEVER use Paypal unless there is NO other choice but to use them and will do everything in my power to use other methods like Square.

PayPal would get 0 stars if that was an option. I sold 2 items on ebay, they were both local buyers. I met both buyers the following day and delivered the items. They both gave positive feedback meaning they were happy with the sale. PayPal arbitrarily decides to hold the funds for 21 days because no shipping tracking number was used. I explained they were local buyers, got nowhere, spoke to several reps, none of whom spoke english as their first language. Horrible experience. Stay away from PayPal as a seller!

After all these years I will no longer use PayPal as my preferred way to pay online! I recently filed a dispute and received only a partial refund for a purchase that was CANCELED by repair.com. Instead of reviewing dispute you closed case. Why would you allow a business that CANCELS ORDERS to cheat customers out of a FULL REFUND? As a seller myself, I will no longer use PayPal as a paying option for customers.
I use this for my business and the put a transaction on hold simply because my customer does not have a PayPal account. So I can't pay my workers because someone else doesn't choose to use their service. They refure to release the 21 day hold even after I conference called them WITH my customer to confirm the service provided as we do not ship a product therefore there is no tracking number. Doesn't matter. Still a 21 day hold on my money. But not theirs, they got their take already. I can't even file a resolution case because it says I was paid! Paypal steals your money! I use PayPal for all online transactions. I choose merchants that accepts PayPal over their competitors. I had an issue with a merchant that was unresolvable. I filed for a refund and was extremely pleased with the outcome. Paypal was fair and reasonable. If you use the internet to make purchases, and do not use PayPal to protect against being bamboozled you need to reconsider. Paypal's purchase guarantee is not just a marketing gimmick. I recommend this company and will not consider any other service.

PayPal have an excellent dispute investigation process because I had some unauthorised charges on my MasterCard and Visa Debit Cards and they refunded the charges straight back onto those cards after they found out they were in fact unauthorised so I would recommend disputing transactions with them in the future since they have an excellent disputing process.

It also did not show an option to print the label. I searched and searched, looked online and sent an email asking for help. They basically said too bad and they re keeping the money because I didn t cancel it within 24 hours. They re only research into it was to see if someone accessed my account without permission and this was AFTER I said that the site did not show me my label. Need a label? Go to someone else.

Paypal does not value their customers in the slightest. No one you speak to has "authorization" to fix any problems, and complaints and concerns go unanswered. They literally froze my bank account until mid-May of 2017.

I paid for an item on ebay and the seller refunded me a partial credit however sent it back to me as a payment. The refund was charged a fee. I paid for the item as direct bank transfer.
I personally stopped using Paypal and Ebay because of their high fees for their services. They already make so much with Ebay. It's a pain in the ass navigating their site. They also try to push you into getting Paypal credit card. I accidentally clicked on the button and little did I know I had signed up for a card. Ugh!!!
Edit: I emailed and complained to them and they reversed the fees. It was a fast turnaround but still pretty annoying.

Unauthorized charges 4/6/2016 called Paypal. The Rep claimed since it was caught so fast NO money would be removed from my account. I won the claim but Paypal tried to withdraw from my bank account on 4/8/2016 again on 4/15/2016 and again 4/18/2016 today. Mind you the rep lied to me. So I called them today after seeing my bank statement. They lied again. So I printed all emails, went to my bank. They refunded the $116.00 paypal stole. But I'm still out $44.32 because of this company! Safe and secure hardly! Reported to the attorney generals office, Paypal is blocked from touching my accounts! I closed my Paypal account today!

If I could leave a negative amount of stars I would. Have lost over 20k as they refuse to release a check to me that was 2years ago. So I have involved both the police and FBI only for them to continue to demand further funds to process it. When I called to check if they still have it or if it shipped customer service representative and supervisor's alike claim to no record of it though I have over 15 emails from them claiming otherwise. Going through court to solve this once and for all.

I had my idenity stolen over 20 years ago by a family member who used that information to open various accounts in my name...to purchase all types of merchandise and even pornographic materials! He hacked into our home cable system and my computer to and used my personal information to order these materials WHILE I WAS AT WORK (DOCUMENTED)! As a result. In 2006, PAYPAL restricted my account for "violating their acceptable use policy..." with ABSOLUTELY EXPLANATION OR DOCUMENTATION PROVIDED... Now, this creates a problem for me as I buy and sell on Ebay and use PayPal as my method of transferring and receiving money... Fast forward about 5 years...I opened another PayPal account with a new email address... I use this account for HUNDREDS of transactions with ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS!! ALL of a sudden...without notice...PayPal restricts this account as well...again...with NO DOCUMENTATION OR EXPLANATION! I opened a THIRD ACCOUNT...and after 2 weeks...the same thing...it's restricted!!! I contact PayPal dozens of times by email and phone...and all I get is APPEAL DENIED FORM emails back! I even send them documentation of my identity theft issue from the FTC and the Connecticut State Police...still...APPEAL DENIED!!! Finally, I contacted a private attorney and he advised me that PayPal is a state and/or federally regulated financial institution and BY LAW...I am entitled to a copy of detailed documentation of ALL financial transactions conducted in my name... So...I send PayPal a letter by certified mail requesting this information... They received it and signed for it on January 30th...and it is now March 8th...and no response...except for another (4th or 5th) appealed denied email signed by "Paul"... So, today I sent another request letter by certified mail...we'll just have to see IF and/or WHEN they respond back to me! In closing, it sucks that I have been a victim of identity theft to begin with...and it has been an absolute NIGHTMARE for 20+ years now...but it's even WORSE to be VICTIMIZED all over again by a company that doesn't give a damn about their customers that patronize them! I think it is EXTREMELY ANNOYING, CHILDISH, AND UNPROFESSIONAL that a company would not respond to REPEATED requests for information to help me clear my name! I also makes me wonder about their CREDIBILITY AND WHAT THEY ARE TRYING TO HIDE! It also angers me that a company would rather battle it out in court than to resolve a real simple issue... I use it alot for eBay. Paying flat .30 can be a pain when selling stuff at 2.00 or less. The user experience sucks, I've been using it since 2004 and have no opportunity to earn rewards, or any type of loyalty bonuses. Years ago they had an investment opt in, where they take your remainder balance and invest for the month. But it's gone. Actually earned few bucks!

We provided PayPal with excellent documentation of buyer's fraudulent act and they still threatened my wife with a collection agent. PayPal's representation of protection for payment services is fraudulent. Our advice, don't use PayPal, insist on cash.
PayPal is the absolute worst and to make matters even worse, their customer service is pretty much non-existent. They specialize in the "run-around" and ultimately hope that you give up trying to move a claims case further along. They have been dragging a claim case on for 2 months now and continually have excuses as to why. Their so-called customer service reps give contradictory information and then ultimately they ignore my messages and reply with a similar message to when the claim first started. Please save yourself a huge headache and use any payment service besides PayPal and fully-owned Venmo (talk about a ton of security and privacy issues).
I think Paypal is a great payment utility especially when dealing with small businesses around the world. There phone customer service is terrible, with to much dependence on an automated response system combined with an overseas customer service function. They would be better served if customers could opt out of the automated response system easily... But the main reason for this comment is I think PayPal is missing the boat with their "credit card". I have no use for a credit card that works like other credit cards, I have plenty of them. But PayPal should have the ability for a credit card customer to opt to automatically have their "reward points" converted to cash and the cash deposit in their Paypal account each month. I know you can go on line and convert points, but that is a hassle. Amazon does it automatically and so all my on line ordering from any source not just Amazon is done with my Amazon credit card. If Paypal could do the same thing, I would most of that volume to Paypal.
Stay away from this people for the last month I have been trying to get my money out and seems like a mission imposible, so sick of this people and the customer service sucks they give you bs so you hang up and leave them alone.
