Worst Emergency department. had to come in an ambulance paramedics said it s not too busy, one ahead of me shouldn t be too long. after taking the blood they made me sit in the waiting area in urgent care centre for more then 8 hours. all the staff was miserable when a person is not well they don t need attitude or rudeness all the staff did not seem to be bothered about the patients which is really sad but I must say paramedics were amazing.

To my surprise, after the experiences I have had in Spain, the emergency department attended us super fast. The super super friendly staff, and they even tried to put you in people who spoke your language. Very competent and understanding doctors. The only bad thing was, on the one hand, the food (which basically consisted of sandwiches and pre-heated things and with ingredients that were not very good or natural) and, on the other, the auxiliaries were somewhat parsimonious. You had to be on the lookout for them to change blankets and not be late for medicine. Of course, one of the mcmillan center (not the main one, who was a very kind and friendly woman) one who came to give me information seemed to me incomprehensible and with an impressive lack of tact because when I asked for information about very delicate and painful matters for me with The English that I could (I had only been in the UK for half a year) did not stop criticizing my English and reluctantly responding to everything. However, otherwise everything very well.

Fredrick Salmon ward is a good example of how nhs can manage to turn a ward to operate like a war torn middle eastern Syrian Hospital ward
. This ward is a no mans land. No body is in charge. I have had to care for my wife as the nurses are never available.

My jaw was fractured in 2 places when I was assaulted. I went to this hospital and admitted myself, as my dentist said they are the best at treating jaw fractures. After the surgery, the X-ray showed that the tiny fracture at the chin has been put back together so no gap was visible, but the big fracture on the left side of the jaw, was not touched, the gap was left the way it was, just with 1 strip to hold the fracture together. I instantly felt that there has been no improvement made to my jaw.

After surgery I could only see the nurses, not the surgeon, They said that the surgery is fresh so I should wait and it would settle.

After 2 weeks I visited one of the nurses, with really bad attitude, they said I have to be patient and the jaw will settle in 6-10 weeks, after 2 months I visited them again as follow up, by this time, it was clear they didn't want to do anything with me, doesn't matter how much I told them I am in pain, my teeth grind and my jaw is aligned, the nurse started getting agitated as if I am insulting their craftsmanship and said "what do you know, this is how it is, you're jaw is fine"

After 2 years, my pain has now progressed, I barely can chew and get frequent migraines, I went to my gp and they referred me back to this hospital with the same specialist, but after 6 months of waiting and scheduling an appointment with them, they cancelled it without giving any alternative appointments and reason.

I am from USA and while i was in UK i had a miscarriage and we rushed to the northwick park hospital. I got the worst treatment during that hard time. Staff is really bad. I have never ever seen a such hospital in my life. They did so many mistakes. If anyone are in emergency pkease do your self a favour and go to another hospital. These people in the hospital will make your illness worse.

April 2015. Awful experience! Not a cleaner in sight the 36 hours I was in for a small operation. Night nurse's snoring kept me awake and she was unaware of me making my way slowly to the toilet in the early hours. I only had water - no food offered during my stay. Four nurses non-stop chatted around the desk in the daytime and took no notice of any patient. After three reminders, eventually a porter was found to take me in a wheelchair to main entrance for my departure - he was NOT busy (as I was told being reason for his delay to me) because he left me sitting in the wheelchair instead of seating me in an available chair and he obviously didn't need to collect anyone else. I left for home with dried blood and large black felt pen arrows (put on pre the ear/neck op) highly visible under the clear gauze 'cover' stuck firmly across my face and neck (leaving me with raw cheeks 6 days later). Three years earlier I had ghastly experiences when my late husband was in this hospital and I had hoped for an improvement - my advice is keep away from this awful establishment!

My experience with A&E was not positive all the time but I must say a huge thank you to doctors who helped us recently (on 6th and 13th of January, my son hit his head while skiing and suffered a head injury).
Yes, waiting time is something that must be improved but for serious cases (from A&E doctors point of view where code blue sounds many times during the day) the hospital manages to help quickly. Yes, the child who s vomiting would be waiting longer while an attention would be given to somebody who s crying for help. Ideally it would be nice to have help ASAP but it s down to the efficiency of the system as a whole, amount of money that NHS has, number of doctors & nurses that work there.
We spent 3 hours the first time and minimum 4 hours the second time before we were sent to Jack s place but thanks to the hospital for investing money and making a separate A&E waiting room for children, I know that waiting there is less stressful than in the main waiting area. Both times we were checked in and sent to children s waiting room quickly.
Doctors and nurses checked lots of things and I saw that despite all the tiredness, equipment that doesn t work properly all the time, people are doing their best. They care.
Huge thank you to the doctor who saw my son and was very thorough checking him both times, nurse that was making jokes and made my son and other children smile.
A separate thank you to doctors and nurses in Jack s place. To get there and get their attention is not easy, the system is aiming to send all those who can wait home, but once you there, and I ve been there a few times with my older child, I know that doctors are doing everything to help children.
So, thank you.

No communication between different team of doctors...

No communication between different team of doctors.
Every day patient is fed with different views and options from different doctors or surgical teams, but none of them are able to make a decision or proper diagnosis.
They all say the final decision depends on other hospitals such as Hammersmith Hospital.
They all say there is a meeting today or tomorrow but when we chase the outcome no one be able to tell us the final decision.
When I raised my concerns to a registerer he said if you don t like it take your elderly patient to a private care.
He said also if you don t like the way the national health works complain to your MP!!
Clearly they do not to wish to listen to people complaints, do not wish to take criticism, do not wish to take the patient in to their decision making.
Have we forgotten why we go to doctors or hospital because we want to get better and have diagnosis not because we want to hear theories and how national health works.
Why this hospital has no one to make a final decision?
Totally disappointed.

Hospital is modern enough however the staff left clinical waste in the sides for hours. At times I felt like they needed my partner and myself to provide additional care to achieve the standard. Such as washing my elderly mum myself and cleaning and changing her bed when she was had exrimented.

Extremely rude and unhelpful. The NHS staff almost seem to hate their job, being both impatient and rude with patients. The NHS really need to sort this out as its completely unacceptable. Why work in this field when you seem to hate every person that seeks help? Disgusting.

Got in after being sent to Central Middlesex for a possible renal colic or UTI. Arrived at 8:30am and it took me 4 hours to get some results. I was called in, called out so many times and in the end I didn t have any serious problem but I was diagnosed with constipation . When there was some traces of blood in my urine, after all of that wait was advised to go to my GP or walk-in clinic to check for a possible UTI. The staff were in general very helpful although I felt the service was a bit unorganised. Hope there s an increase in staff...

I Recently had my second baby at Northwick park. I cannot recommend the maternity unit enough. From the DAU team Saras , Alma, Yoke and Lillan who took care of me due to a high risk pregnancy. They were so caring and accommodating insuring I was at ease at all times. They were so over worked yet always had a smile on their faces. Thank you thank you so so much for the support.

Delivery team were just as amazing thank you to Jasmine and Laden who were my midwives during birth. They were so calm and encouraging I could have not asked for a more better and supportive team. I cannot recommend the team or Hospital enough.

I had an amazing experience first time round with my first born and now. Thank you once again to the maternity team. Thank you for all your hard work and always smiling even when your soo tired xx

Horrible excuse for a hospital, the people there a...

Horrible excuse for a hospital, the people there are all rushed of their feet and alot are patronising and rude. So we pay taxes for this? I'm sorry but this Is horrendous. The care level is hit and miss. I can not recommend this hospital, unless you really need somewhere urgent, look for better places. I was told on my visit that I would be discharged with pain medication to help ease my alignments, yet the doc just brought a discharge form and then told me to leave. So you want me out of there, ASAP, so why am I paying tax for this, exactly? I was brought in by the ambulance on their stretcher which locks you in place, I had to lay on that for more then an hour and the metal was irritating the back of my head, I explained and all they did was say to wait. I ended up getting a headache and could potentially start developing pressure sores. Lastly on the same bed, a portor came over, clearly looking for extra beds and asked what I'm doing there and I explained I'm waiting for the doc to give me medication and to discharge me, yet he gave a massive sigh and then gave me a dirty look. I understand if I've been rude to you, but I was gracious and respected everyone I spoke to, yet I was made to feel rushed through the process and that they really didn't care. Take the wage and are inconsistent. Things need to change quick. For the people who did get decent care, u're very lucky. Be thankful you didn't experience the worst.

Nursing care is poor. My experience was ok as I was put up in the Kingsley ward (private) due to lack of availability of general rooms for NHS patients. However my mum's experience was totally different where she had to put up with rude / arrogant nursing staff. She was admitted following high pulse rate which was identified as SVT. Nurses need to be polite and considerate towards the elderly. Even the doctor was quite blunt about possible complications and was also impatient.

I had my first appointment in the maternity ward and had a trainee who was getting support from a nurse to guide the new training nurse ....I came out with a big bruise from blood test....when the trainee was taking my information for the yellow book....the main nurse had her eyes shut behind me and I only saw it because I turned around. They got my details wrong on the front yellow book.

It's like a fish market in the maternity building!

I thought northwick park had changed and got better but it's so bad! I didn't get any information on pregnancy and got told to look and read my booklet....nurses are not keeping in touch with my appointments or telling me when to make the next one! Luckily I have a amazing GP who is a midwife too!

So today I had my 33 weeks scan ....been looking for parking for 25 minutes so I got 10 minutes late for my scan appointment so they send me back home! I was crying and in tears ....they really don't look after pregnant women...I'm so disappointed....I thought I would give northwick park a chance but looks like EVEYONE was RIGHT about MATERNITY WARD BEING RUBBISH.

Had to pay for parking and they didn't bother to take me on after 10 minutes!
My next apoinappoint was made week after for my 32 week scan.

I'm scared to have my baby here but it's the nearest hospital.

Looking into other hospitals now.

MATERNITY WARD NEED TO SORT THING OUT AS SOON AS possible!

Came into labour at 27 weeks after twice attending...

Came into labour at 27 weeks after twice attending UCLH hospital the previous night with concerns about reduced fetal movement. I woke up in the morning bleeding and rushed to Northwick Park maternity department.

I was scared due to the hospital s bad reputation. To cut a long story short. My baby Was delivered by great doctors and the neonatal team were on standby and were amazing. I haemorrhaged badly and required a blood transfusion. The doctors were on standby and I could not have received better care anywhere else.

The hospital is an eyesore and my experience of THE. A&E DEPARTMENT is terrible. I avoid it at all costs where possible and this is why I was scared of giving birth at Northwick Park.

My baby was taken care of in the neonatal unit and every nurse and doctor were a credit to the NHS and delivered amazing care to all of the babies. Unfortunately due to lack of money from the health trust the neonatal unit severely lacks chairs, and other necessities to make your stay by your babies cot a comfy one like other neonatal units located in inner London.

The neonatal unit also seems to lack charity which I m surprised by and feel is very sad.

I will be eternally grateful to the maternity/neonatal team for saving my baby and my life.

My wife had 2nd miscarriage at this hospital exact...

My wife had 2nd miscarriage at this hospital exactly at 21 weeks gestation, same scenario on both occasions. I publicly blame the doctors for their carelessness and inability to save the lives of our babies.

After the 1st incident they had told us that my wife has to put a stich on cervix at weeks pregnant. When my wife went at 12 weeks they said that they are going to monitor at every two weeks interval and if necassary they will do it. However, they haven't done anything till 17 weeks eventhough my wife's cervix was shortening considerably. We went for a private consultant for 2nd opinion and she said the stitch has do be done immediately and did it. However, we both felt that too was late. And miscarriage happened at 21 weeks.

If the doctors at northwickpark hospital, performed the stitch at around 12 weeks time, our baby would have survived.

I publicly blame the doctors specially the so called specialist male old doctor.

This hospital is so well equipped even though the building is a bit outdated, the quality of staff and professional experience is great. Also few days after coming home we had to go to the A&E because my baby wasn't well and we were so pleased with the children's A&E service, excellent doctors and nurses. Thanks lots!

"THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN"

Doctor in A&E

Very traumatic visit with my 88 year old mother, after waiting hours to see a doctor, we were advised that there was no bed available and my mother was transferred at 3am to Ealing hospital. My mum was becoming increasingly unwell, it was a frightening experience. I had no idea how far down the NHS has become.

The system is indeed broken... please use A&E with caution, and advocate for yourself, or take someone with you who is able to. I hate to think what would have happened if my mum had gone alone.

I went to accident and emergency and had very good care. However they referred me to ambulatory care and again I can't fault the care I received. Sadly the dermatologist refused to see me in ambulatory care so I was given an appointment to go the dermatology outpatients 4 days later. I would hardly call this urgent care considering the nature of my illness which unless treated can be Fatal. I received a phone call from the hospital at 10.00 am on Monday morning telling me to report to the dermatology clinic at 11.00 am. I duly arrived and was kept waiting until 12.30. A nurse said that they Dr was seeing all her other patients first. I was in so much pain I was crying. A nurse put me in in a room on my own because I was upsetting the other patients. When the Dr did eventually see me she stood about 6 feet away from me informed me she as pregnant and because I am having cancer treatments she won't see me if I have had recent radiotherapy. I question her ability to do her job if she can pick and choose who she treats and also why a dermatologist refused to see me vin ambulatory care. I was told by a Dr in ambulatory care that it is all to do with how they get paid.

I had the misfortune of being treated at Northwick Park Hospital for a wrist fracture, everyone I met in this veritable hellhole seems to harbor a resentment for their patients, nurses sneer at patients, doctors are uncaring and rush their consultations, waiting times for outpatients are nothing short of scandalous.

Northwich Park Hospital offer very Bad service. Staff there does not have proper information of other departments nor they can guide you to correct place. I am 17 week pregnant and had abdominal pain so GP suggested me to go to Northwich Hospital in A&E. When i went there I had told the young lady at reception what is the problem with me and she asked me to take a sit and Dr will see you. After waiting fr 1.5 hr Dr called my name when she got to know my prb she said you have to go and see AMU not here. When i went to AMU department they said I have to go to some other departments.
And from there I was send to some other department. Finally one kind lady took me to the correct department which was early pregnacy unit.
There the lady said she can t arrange for Dr nor scanning as its already 3 cl and no Dr are avaliable and scanning is not possible this time. After making her understand what i am going to and raising my voice she called some senior Dr and said she will arrange a Dr but scanning not possible and no guarantee Dr will come, will let you know at 5 cl.
Such a Bad service and negligence towards Patients.

Had at appt from 111 at 5pm. Dr came for us at 5.15 - he was very professional, attentive, thorough, compassionate and went the extra mile. He spent 30 mins with us. Couldn t have paid for better service. The nhs gets a bad rep but there are some amazing drs, nurses and other staff that are fighting against an outdated inefficient system. The dr we saw had abandoned his car (very heavy snow) on the way to his shift and paid 5x the normal rate for an uber because he didn t want to leave the hospital anymore short staffed than they already were. Amazing.

AVOID THIS PLACE, THE RUDENESS FACTOR IS EXTREMELY HIGH

Previously I had some allergic reaction to something (I have never had it before) and I got different types of rashes and in the same time I had stitches in me because I had a few surgeries back in my home country.

They told me off what I am doing there as people die on the corridor and it is not serious in a very-very rude way. I went to Kenton Lane in a walking center (Belmonth health center or whatever its name is.) and there they gave some medicines and I told them about my stitches but they said it was too early to remove them and that they don't have nurses so go to either Edgeware or to the Northwick park hospital on Tuesday.

So, Tuesday has come and I decided to go to the Northwick Park H because it was a lot closer to me than Edgeware. I wish I hadn't gone there though. It was very-very humiliating. They started to ask questions how come that Kenton Lane don't have nurses (as if I was a liar) and they stated (in a very rude manner again) that they do have nurses. I show the small paper what the lady from Kenton gave me. That rude nurse kept asking me what this Kenton lady's name is as she has to tell them to stop sending patients to emergency (Note, there were barely any people in the waiting room maximum 6) and she added that my case is not serious, I should go to the GP etc.
Ok, nursey but whenever I called the GP they give me appointment for 2 weeks later and obviously I don't want to wait that much and 'Kenton lady' told me I can come here too so it is not my fault!! and they handed my case to the receptionist.

The receptionists are another story. Instead of thinking about the solution they also kind of blame me what I am doing there and ask questions about the walk-in center in Kenton Lane. OMG. I got so angry, I lost my temper (I am usually very calm and try to be kind with people) and I raised my voice and I wanted to leave them as they were. I HONESTLY RATHER DIE ALONE IN MY BED THAN BEING TREATED LIKE THIS. After that the receptionist fake some kindness and got me an appointment with my gp. I am beyond speechless. I don't mind if they tell me that I should have gone to the GP or offer me the solution and book an appointment for me immediately but WHY DID YOU NEED TO HUMILIATE ME AND MAKE ME FEEL VERY BAD (S..) AND ACCUSING ME OF BEING A LIAR?? I just wanted to get removed my stitches because I cannot do it on my own... That is what I pay tax for??? Seriously? Ridiculous

Major improvements needed and teaching some basic manners to these nurses and receptionists would be also crucial.

Very bad organisation and staff not really care. I had several experiences with this hospital - each time a bad one. For example when my daughter was 4 weeks old we were sent to A&E by our GP because baby had cold a refused to eat for hours and could not wake up. The nurses were very rude. First doctor we saw was ST1 and she completely had no clue what to do. We then waited for hours for someone more senior (with a newborn who hasn't eaten for 8 hours or more and is clearly deteriorating). Finally she arrived and decided on treatment to clear my daughter's airways plus a nebuliser plus a tube to stomach to feed her immediately. We asked nurse for a nappy because our run out and he disappeared. When we check outside cubicle all nurses were chatting and laughing. We were then around 1 am sent to CDU by the doctor to continue the treatment. Doctor said I can stay on the bed and my husband on the armchair. We were the only patients staying overnight. The nurse decided to storm in and wake us up by shouting that it is ridiculous that two people stay overnight. We were so confused we didn't even get what just happened. She came back and straight to shouting that we are both still here and one of us has to leave or she calls for security. My husband left because didn't want more shouting in front of unwell baby and me. In the morning doctor asked for second cleaning of airways and the same nurse said to me my daughter doesn't need it because she just didn't want to do something (still the only patients on the ward). When I asked why is she acting against doctors request she then did it very upset. I should have reported her because I worked in A&E in Kings College hospital myself and I knew in my work nobody treats patients like this.

I was operated on in this hospital several years ago and have suffered ever since. I was admitted after having a mini stroke. It was discovered after examination with ultra sound I had a blockage in my corratic artery, I was operated on by a very dapper surgeon who had two women anesthetic helpers who did me serious damage which nearly killed me. They catherterized me and snapped my tubes which has since caused me great discomfort for many years. They can only be described as amateur butchers and I hope they have to live with as much discomfort as me.

My daughter has a life threatening conditonl I find the doctors have been amazing regarding her care. The nurses have not been so helpful, but fortunately her doctors help with overcoming this particular challenge, unfortunately it is admin that continually change appointments, and do not allow her to access vital care that supports her wellbing. At the moment I am completley stressed out as yet again, she has been put back twice for necessary appointment. It is now more than six months she has been seen when it is recognised that she needs to be seen every four months or, ideally less, to ensure that she recives good care. If she has had a reoccurance she will be visiting lawyers.

Would ve given zero stars if I could. One of the worst experience at the A&E department. Upon arrival the waiting time was over 4 hours which one will assume to be between 4-5 hours however in reality the waiting time was over 8 hours. The reception staff were unfriendly and dismissive, if you told them you re in pain or requested painkillers, they would just tell you to sit down and wait for someone to see you. Many patients were left for up to 8 hours with no medical attention or painkillers. The waiting room was full of homeless people which shouldn t have been there, this left many people who were actually unwell and using the service standing for hours. The staff and their attitude is laughable. Patients who have been disrespectful and disruptive abusive to reception stuff and banging on doors to the main hospital were seen within 15minutes instead of being removed by security whereas patients who have waited patiently where kept waiting for up to 8 hours or even longer. The doctors don t do a proper examination, they just try to get rid of you as quickly as possible and don t seem to listen or care about any concerns that you may have regarding your condition. In the end, the doctor didn t even tell me the actual diagnosis just prescribed medication. The A&E has been doing downhill as I have been there before and never waited more than 2 hours to be seen.

NHS recommends you get PEP asap after infection risk and at least within 72 hours ( the longer you wait the less effective medication becomes) but I went to A&E at Northwick park as recommended on website and have been told to wait for the next available clinic about 60 hours from now. Poor website info- I rushed to get here

A and E waiting times up to 4 or 5 hours. maternity ward and other wards are in need of dire upgrades. Staff at this place have saved my life in the past. All my children have been born here and saved my daughter at birth. A massive wealth of knowledge. if it was any other hospital i dont think the outcome would be positive. This hospital serves a massive area for harrow and brent. it deserves the funding and upgrades to further enhance its already exceedingly high reputation. much love for all who work here.

Their phone system is worse than dreadful; it seems to be designed to fob people off by never letting you get in touch with anyone. I cannot ever get hold of anyone, and on the rare occasions I've actually spoken to someone human, they fob me off by pointing me in the wrong direction.

I would say, if you can get treatment elsewhere I would strongly suggest you do so.
They are more concerned with numbers than patient care. It highly reflects in their services and the decision they made to discharge my very ill grandma which lead to her death within hours.

This hospital should really be closed down.

Staff were great, very polite and answered all my queries.. They are busy, so cannot be there for everyone at the same time.. Those people complaining should appreciate the fact you get free care in the NHS.. If your not happy go private, you will soon realise how much you would really pay..

Saved my mothers life 3 times now, unfortunately nurses are overrun, student nurses don't get any perks like parking or decent pay rates....facilities of the hospital for patients is one of the best. Navigation and signs and working your way around the hospital is a different issue. Some staff are rude also but i can't blame them, amount of non-patient rude members of public they have to deal with is unreal.

As there is no queue indication you will not know how far along the way you are. I paid parking which is a rip off. I had to keep adding money .180 minutes has gone by and nothing yet. Disgusting A&E . Administration is appalling they have no clue.

A horrible place

A horrible place
My mum had an allergic reaction while we were on vacation here. Her reaction was so bad that she was in constant unbearable pain. No one took us serious and we had to wait several hours (more than five) during the night. The clinicians and nurses were rude toward us because we only speak broken English ( we're tourists).
They gave us medicine that my mum had already taken hours ago and it didn't help. It only made her feel like she had to throw up. In that state they left us waiting and didn't tell us how long we still had to wait or what could relieve the horrible pain and nausea.
We were left in a waiting room with about 50 other patients and called our names when it was our turn to see the doctor (which was acoustically difficult to understand as well)
They don't seem to care that children have to wait as long as adults or that weakened and sick people are all hurdled together to infect each other.
I do not recommend going here.

Most workers are doing the best they can, that deserves 5 stars but what let me down was the other bit of workers being rude and telling me to 'shuuuuush'!
They have to concentrate on their queues before telling people to shush, dispicable.
