Do not just hold strikes, the staff are always dedicated to giving you the best of themselves, given their occasion they will be happy. These are professions unknown to the general public and too often underestimated, think about it next time.

As a railway undertaking, its mission is in principle to provide public transport at medium and long distance. Insufficient means, disastrous management, aging trains bring failure to failure. For the daily user, this company alternates disastrous periods (trains too short, deleted, chronically late) and acceptable periods (I wait for delays and each year longer travel times, so that they take today much more time than in the steam era). Which more the user must regularly face one or the other strike, the social climate being far from the beautiful fixed.

After using this service for more than 20 years, I can honestly say that I am really not satisfied with the NMBS. Trains, if they are running, are often late; air conditioning that is not switched on on scorching hot days but is switched on in winter; unfriendly conductors, even spit on once by accident (the conductor aimed at another passenger just before closing the doors); connections that are not accurate at all; constant works and delays; ticket prices that rise year after year, ... And good luck in trying to file a complaint or reclaim money due to errors of the NMBS: you are not taken seriously and the procedure for filing a complaint / reclaiming compensation is so cumbersome and time-consuming that most victims would rather let this pass. Definitely not a worthy alternative to the car, something that should be much better in these times.

Thanks for having competent and kind English speaking persons at your telephone service centers (not so convinced about those you have to physically go to, as in Brussels they would be staffed by French speakers who couldn't be bothered)...

They cancel trains but do not update their web in ...

They cancel trains but do not update their web in real time. The consequence: google maps misleads you to a train that does not come, discarding faster options. It happened to me several times with the zaventem-schuman direct train in the evening. Could be easily avoided and gives a lousy first impression of belgian public transport for foreigners. Please do something!

Generally, incompetent management. This is actually happening when the state owns the majoritary package. Lot of chaos, lack of proper investments, malfunctions and in the end angry customers. The delays due to "persons on tracks" are daily, the infrastructure is outdated for the actual need, the transformation of the company is really needed.

Why are you systematically late? Is the network run by incompetent people? frankly you tire a lot of people in addition to making them waste precious time (bcp)! It's a shame ... And on top of that some controllers are unbearable! Please, grow up a bit and learn to manage your trains, after all it's still your job.

Here I followed my train guidance training. Exactly a second student life. I have good memories of it. Good instructors and hardworking people in the cafeteria. You can eat something small. For the rest there are a number of important NMBS services such as customer service.
