After using this service for more than 20 years, I can honestly say that I am really not satisfied with the NMBS. Trains, if they are running, are often late; air conditioning that is not switched on on scorching hot days but is switched on in winter; unfriendly conductors, even spit on once by accident (the conductor aimed at another passenger just before closing the doors); connections that are not accurate at all; constant works and delays; ticket prices that rise year after year, ... And good luck in trying to file a complaint or reclaim money due to errors of the NMBS: you are not taken seriously and the procedure for filing a complaint / reclaiming compensation is so cumbersome and time-consuming that most victims would rather let this pass. Definitely not a worthy alternative to the car, something that should be much better in these times.
