First off, the pay sucks. Second, the wait to start is a month or more so it isn't worth wasting your time. Third, the boss man has a terrible attitude. He will throw a fit if he isn't getting what he wants. He likes to cuss at people and he very disrespectful. I don't know about anyone else but I don't know many people that want to be treated bad for 12 dollars an hour.

I work in the Louisville area for 8 years now as a Nighthawk Officer. I was offered a Fulltime job and since then, worked for Nighthawk. It is a fair place to work and has created a healthy work space for myself and coworkers. One thing I see posted about a lot is their uniform policy. We receive over $500 worth of uniforms that we lease/rent/whatever, but they make it clear that we do not own the uniforms and that we get money back if we put a 2 week notice in and work it. So to all they nay sayers, give all the information rather than misleading people.

Very unorganized I gave a 2 weeks notice and my pay was dropped to 7.25 for my last check which they held for almost 3 weeks they never gave me a dime back for uniform rental even though my pants were a men's size 40 and I'm woman's size 28. They would change my schedule in the middle of the day. And the one day I asked off for graduation they scheduled me to work 2 shifts because another guy quit. This company is by far the most unprofessional place to work. And also they didnt care about the life you had they would call at all times and would get mad if you didn't answer while at church or family event. Never would I recommend anyone to work here.

I was at the library studying with my peer and was YELLED at that there 'was no smoking allowed on the premises' because my peer's VAPE was out on the table along with our backpacks, phones, books, etc. Absolutely distracting, rude, and embarrassing. He said he could smell it (if he was vaping, it for sure as hell wouldn't smell like smoke but rather damn banana nut pancakes). There was no ''no vaping' sign, which is a legal difference between smoking, but my point is is that there was no 'smoking' or vaping being done. My peer doesn't feel comfortable going to the damn LIBRARY now.

I had an interview yesterday. Upon walking in, I immediately noticed the professional environment. I was treated very kindly and repectfully by everyone I had the pleasure to meet. I am proud and thankful to say I was hired. I am equally as excited to begin my employment with this company. There is room for advancement once the initial probation period is completed successfully. I would highly recommend anyone looking for security work come here first. This company strives for excellence in anything they do, and employees are set up for success from the get go. I am very grateful for the opportunity to work for such a great and professional company.

They are shady! They fire people and report it as a "quit without notice "
so they WON'T have to give you your money for your USED uniforms. They wont give you a copy of your contract and wont let you leave with a copy of the contract when you sign it. You may love them while your working for them, but they'll back stab your loyalty the minute you try to put in your notice.

Biggest mistake I had ever made was to work for this place. I was lied to about the hourly rate. I wanted 10.00 an hour and was paid 8.25 an hr. Was told I would get a raise when my 90 day evaluation came up and was told you had to beg to get a quarter raise so I found me another part-time job and they went mid-evil on me since I quit my wages went down to minimum wage, was threatened to put the law on me if I didn't return the uniform within 48 hours when it was Friday and they are closed on Saturday and Sunday, turned in the uniform on Monday with the scheduler permission and still got a letter saying they will turn this matter over to their lawyers. I had to call the office to let them know I turned the uniform in an the gentleman told me that the cameras should pick up on the footage that I turned in the uniform. Now the other matter about my wages that are owed to me I don't care about because what I went through was pure hell and in no way I would want to go through that again!

I was an employee through this company. My site was a covid hotspot and when I came down with symptoms I showed them proof of my hospital visit and told them how long it would take for my results. They called me every morning at 7:30 asking about my covid results. I let them know that the doctor said 10 days minimal out even with a negative test and they said it didnt matter because I was negative and you couldnt get a false negative. Then i put in a 2 weeks notice in december because i was moving and no sites were available closer to me. Seems responsible, right? Well in their contract you have to sign you are required to give a MONTHS notice before quitting or they dock your pay to minimum wage for the hours on the final check. Notice how i said I left in december? I JUST got my final check today. Its the middle of march. Just not a great place to work if you have any kind of life outside of the job. And dont expect any of your phone calls to be answered either. It takes forever to get anyone to even call back. This is not just in my personal experience but the experience of friends I have that also work or have worked for this company.

During my interview, it became apparent that Nighthawk is very direct and to the point. They are upfront with everything and will work with an employee to fit their availability as best they can and even let you know prior to employment so you know what you're going to be doing. They even are providing me with paid training!

Great hands on training and experience. Enjoy working here and the support I get from Management. Uniform rental kinda sucks at first but to be honest, makes sense since it includes replacing the uniforms the entire time i'm employed which i plan to be here a longgggg time.

I went to Guardsmark looking to get into security when I left the Army, but saw their setup was a giant mess so I walked out in the interview and went to the Nighthawk office and found a professional atmosphere. And they have been good to me for the last 9 years. Everyone in the company who is high up used to be a guard for the company at some point, so advancement opportunities are everywhere especially since they are growing larger by the day. I wouldn't work for another security company, since this one can keep giving a steady pay check no matter how bad the economy gets, and while other security companies are going out of business and laying off employees, we are just adding more sites and hiring/promoting more people.

I started with Nighthawk Security just over 1 year ago as a security officer after retiring from the military. The expectations they have for their employees are very easy to follow and understand and advancement opportunities are quite abundant for those motivated to move up. I was able to get promoted and get raises very quickly.

If you're looking for a company that will attempt to strongarm you into signing a contract to allow them to skim off your pay, or maybe you're looking for a workplace that is ran by an abrasive short fused man that'll hold your final paycheck over 90 days and then bump that pay down from your normal pay rate to minimum wage. If so then this is the place for you, just so you know you're a body filling a place with this company nothing more I'd highly suggest Securitas or G4s for anyone seriously considering being an actual professional in today's workforce.

Pulled up for the interview immediately they pounced on me outside and was very quick to get me inside.....
It eventually would lead into one of the best schemes Ive ever seen!
$200 Employment Contract beginning once you take the Drug Test
$20 deposit for a uniform rental $370 total and your pay being dropped down to minimum wage where it's taken out 1-2 checks $150 refundable upon 2 weeks notice which means absolutely nothing because your robbed by a hustleman pretending to be all business
Your either broke or you truly think its okay to take advantage of people looking for employment
The owner never even talked to me I wasted $50 in gas as they forced me to drive 3 hrs out of the way for a interview for me to pay them to work......
Perfect "Dictatorship" Strong Arm People in the making.
They took my picture and likely blacklisted me as if I had no idea what they were doing.......
The guy scheduling was incompetent and knew nothing about the client we'd be working for or the schedule as they told me on the phone 1st and 2nd shift was available and they were only offering 3rd and no idea if OT was available right away.
Turn around go the other way

Scroll down and you'll see someone instantly attempting to defend my arguement as if its not a employee or supervisor. You can justify strong arm employment all you want but at the end of the day you aren't proving anything when their are better companies to work for who are not CHARGING YOU TO WORK FOR THEM........period!!!!!

I've been with Nighthawk 8 years, was a great transition to civilian life and was a great opportunity to provide for my family. Really enjoy working here and my Managers Josh and Mike.

The quality in uniforms are better than the previous company I worked for soon as I got back state side, and their standards are excellent.

I worked for Nighthawk Security three years ago prior to beginning my
career in law enforcement. Nighthawk not only provided me with much of
the experience I needed to work in law enforcement, they also provided
me with a stable, disciplined environment to work in.
Prior to joining Nighthawk, I worked for several other "national"
security companies. In reference to uniform rentals, these companies
took $.50 per hour from me for use of their uniforms. Over a period of a
year, I was charged in excess of $1,000. With Nighthawk, I didn't have this issue. In fact, when I left, I received a severance because I provided the appropriate notice, fulfilled it and returned my uniforms. I enjoyed my time with Nighthawk and would recommend them to anyone!

There is no other company I would ever trust to protect my business quite like nighthawk security. They are to the point, get the job done right the first time, and are quick with responses if there are any questions. If you're looking for security for your business, I would look no further.

I've been working for Nighthawk Security now for 6 years. I was promoted to site supervisor after only 7 months. After almost 2 years as site supervisor, I was promoted and now work in the office. I will retire from this company. I have no need to find another job. This is the best company I've ever worked for.

Great company. When our company decided to use these guards we were getting horrid service from Securitas. The guards weren't showing up and were constantly sleeping. Nighthawk came in and we didn't have another problem. If you need to fix a messed up situation with some other company, these are the people that can help.

I used to work for Nighthawk a few years ago before i retired. Going back with them because i'm bored at home.

The Owner is a fair man that keeps his word. When I left i provided notice and he told me I would be rehired if I ever wanted to come back.

Pay is good
Hours good
Rules are fair
Quick responses on uniform and payroll questions.

I worked at Nighthawk last year for 6ish months, provided my 30 day notice, fulfilled my notice and returned my uniforms in October. Received severance pay and was told that if I ever needed to come back to call and they would rehire. 2 weeks ago I needed a job because of the corona, I'm back to work for Nighthawk again and really happy that I work for a company that keeps it's word.

They tell you to snitch on each other like your in primary school they threaten you with your job your uniforms come from your own pay and they cost 340$ for a shirt pants a belt and a badge.....when u leave u get $120 back....u have to pay 100$ for ur license which also comes out of your pay...if for any reason you aren t in proper uniform attire they will drop you down to minimum wage... They tell you they will not put up with people calling off on holidays that you were scheduled to work and that if you are nine minutes till your schedule to start shift you are late you must be there at the minimum 10 minutes before but they want you there 15 before they also tell you that everyone is treated equally and that you have opportunity for advancement their requirements for opportunity for advancement are you snitching on people and I find it personally for me they say that they will not pick people just because the background for supervisor positions but already have them picked out on day two is company all in all says a lot but doesn t keep up with what they say they also require you to sign a contract that any where you work for them regardless of where you work anywhere that they pick up a contract you were not allowed to apply for an entire year I was stationed and Black & Decker so I am not allowed to apply for Black & Decker if they ever hire in the contract also put in there if you are terminated for any reason they will drop you down to minimum wage they will also cheap you on your hours And like several other people have pointed out the person who owns the company is someone who likes to hear himself talk as is a lot of the main other people

I just want to i love working at Nighthawk. I grew up in a military family and love working at a place that take those same core values and apply them to business.

Owner is very professional and met with everyone of us. I'VE NEVER HAD CEO/OWNER of a company as big as Nighthawk is (1200+ employees) sit down to meet me. I think this is a very important step that makes Nighthawk better.

Never in my experience have I worked for a more ve...

Never in my experience have I worked for a more veteran unfriendly and unprofessional company. I wouldn't want my worst enemy to work here.

Lets start off with the blatant absurdities:

1. Paying 370 dollars for uniforms of extremely low quality, plus shipping upon termination of employment. In my experience uniforms have always been provided at no cost to an employee, except by Nighthawk LLC

2. No vacation time whatsoever. Unless by some miracle you are working on a contract for the government that would provide a vacation, you'll never see nor have one.

3. Unprofessional (Mis)Management. I cant speak for anyone whom works around the Owensboro area, but working on the other side of the state has shown me the extreme decentralization of this company, be that through the revolving door of schedulers, or the non existent managers. Its often up to the line supervisors to fix any and all problems.

Typical Workday:

I'd typically go in around 1430 (230pm) for a start time of 1500(3pm) because of Nighthawk's policy of being 15 minutes early or being docked a quarter hour's pay. After which I'd do what any other security guard does, and a lot more, for not a lot of pay (Comparatively). At least 4 months out of six that I worked for nighthawk I'd have some problem with the provided uniforms, rips, tears, too long, too short. Eventually I went out of pocket and bought a pair of tactical pants, which goes against the uniform policy that's only enforced when somebody feels like it. Complaints are not taken seriously by any party except again the line supervisors whom are limited in the capacity of things they can do.

All in all, it was a typical security experience with atypical management.

This past year I worked at Nighthawk and due to non-work related reasons, I decided to leave. I did quit without a notice and returning my uniforms this week. I've done everything I've agreed to do except for providing a 2 week notice and have accepted that it forfeits a few things, but thats what I agreed to. I hope everyone with the New Year starting remembers that if you agree to something, you are held accountable for it! It's been great working for Nighthawk and my co-workers, but it sadly is coming to an end.

I worked for Nighthawk for 8 years and was moved into an armed position 3 years ago.

When I was first hired, I met the owner Ken Blue and Mike Mullen. Both are the best managers I have ever had, very blunt and direct. No beating the bush with them! The owner does have facial hair, which when you're interview, you're told you have to be clean shaven... When I asked why he didn't shave, the response I received is that the no facial hair policy (except for mustaches) is a requirement for Security Officers and any management that would be on a site for work or meetings. What I took from this is that Security Officers are held to a higher standard and since we are the face of the company and interact with the client, those standards include looking professional and officers looking the same.

When I first moved to armed, there was a lot of gear that was added, including a Kevlar vest that was custom made for each guard at the site. Because they are custom made, it took a little while before I received my vest.

I was put through thorough training and a gun range qualifier. Which some did not past so they were not allowed to work the armed site. Instead Nighthawk worked them into unarmed sites to train.

Enjoyed working with Nighthawk and may return if retirement gets too boring! FYI make sure to turn in a notice and fulfill it! you can't be hired back if you don't!

On 4/2/2021 I and another motorist stopped to render assistance to a goose that had been hit by a car. It had both its legs broken. We moved the goose to a grassy area of a sidewalk and started calling Fish & Wildlife and law enforcement for help. Our cars were parked on either side of the sidewalk entrance and sidewalk exit to the Olympia office building in the east end of Louisville. We were totally in the public easement when a Nighthawk security officer emerged from the guardhouse and was extremely rude to us. He showed zero empathy when we told him about the goose, he was authoritative, and threatened to have our vehicles towed by police if we didn't move in 3 minutes. He was speaking to us like this, while we were BOTH on our calls with LMPD and Fish & Wildlife. When i explained to him that we were, in fact, not obstructing traffic and on the public easement, he became more irate. I'm a licensed attorney and the lady who had also stopped to help, is a business professional who had just dropped her kids off at the Christian school two blocks over. She had also done business with folks who used to lease from the office building in question.

I have contacted Nighthawk Security and will be in contact with office management. This officer needs to be fired.

Have yet to receive reimbursement for uniforms. If I have to contact a company for something agreed upon at the time of hire, then there is something wrong. If you are thinking about applying for a job with this company, be mindful that even if you give your notice and work until your replacement is found, you still may not get your uniform money back. It was 300 at the time I was hired, before I left I had heard as much as 375 for two sets of USED uniforms.

Edit: Not sure if the owner deleted his comment after posting or if there is just a bug with loading the reply. Either way. I put in my two weeks notice, my replacement was hired on and put on the schedule before my two weeks was up and I was asked if I wanted to cut my notice short since my replacement was found. Lets just go ahead and highlight what you said in the comment pictured. "works their entire notice". I suppose that is your loophole to get out of giving the 150 back. If I would have been told up front that I would lose that deposit if I didnt finish out the 2 weeks, I would have finished the week and the replacement would have had to wait to take my spot. Let me go ahead and adjust my review a notch.
