Was in Chicago on vacation and decided to stop in. Quite possibly the friendliest people you can imagine working here. Oh and the back room is AMAZING if you're a vinyl or audio junkie. Tons of used records and discounted AV equipment. I left with a stack of out of print MFSL and other various 180g vinyl for half of what I would pay on Reverb Vinyl or Fleabay. Literally could of spent hours here. Definitely check it out!

Worst Experience Ever! For the last decade I've usually buy used electronics due to my limited means. When the time I was able to buy "brand new" electronics, this seller robbed me with that experience, having the box covered with oil stain over it. It was concerning and disheartening to have this experience for the first time somebody able to affort a brand new item.
I asked them on the warranty and haven't got any answers.

Superb sales and customer support and great products. Bought my Focals here and they sound amazing! Shipped perfectly and no issues at all. Even recommended power cables for me. I have ordered from Music Direct multiple times and they stand behind their 60 day return policy for all purchases. I had to return a large purchase which was due to speakers hurting my tinnitus. Sounds crazy but it happens. They gave me a few extra days past the policy time to see if some room treatments would help. The return was flawless. Which is amazing! Totally Trustworthy! Will be buying from them again. I happened to get two amazing deal from them. Loving my Focals and their knowledge that my amp would be a good mix was dead on! Extremely happy with Music Direct.

Music Hall Ikura. Color me impressed with this turntable. It had some big shoes to fill. It ran side by side my SOTA and it won . Dead black backgrounds , No motor or grounding hum at all. The Ortofon 2M blue is heads above the red. I have just become a Music Hall fanboy.
Ordered two sets of Iso-acoustics Gaia II on a Wednesday. Had to call on Friday to find out someone didn't ship them. Order finally arrived, only to find out the M12 inserts, which were advertised as included with the GAIA II's, were not included. Was told it would take another two weeks for the screws. One star is a gift! Never again!!!
Do not buy from these guys!! I ordered a Dire Straits LP on August 13th and paid $5.49 for shipping. When I finally got a USPS tracking number it said I'd receive my LP on August 20th. No problem!! On the 20th after not receiving my album and seeing the package was in Rochester, NY while I live in NC, I called them and talked to ROGER. WOW......was he helpful!! He stated that "That's the USPS." I will never buy ANYTHING from these guys again!! Only Amazon Prime or Soundstage Direct where you're treated like a valued customer. NEVER AGAIN!!
This is a review for the music. If you're into MoFi vinyl this is the place to go for deals. They have a section of returns for whatever reasons (usually seam splits) that go for great values. It has a low profile store front that doesn't offer any clues as to what's inside but trust me there are some bargains to be had here. And the guy who overlooks the vinyl, Rob, is well educated in music and you can listen before buying on open items.

I ordered Records with FedEx delivery.
He said maybe it will take more time then usually.But I got my Package with Records in les then 24 hours.
I was so Happy when I saw it in front of my house.

Great audiophile vinyl selection. Customer service is top notch. A recent order took a few extra days to ship out because of a recent snowstorm. I called, they made sure it shipped out that day and even upgraded the shipping for free. Their packaging is the best in the biz. Can t wait til the store is open for browsing.

Over promised and not even under delivered!!! They simply DID NOT DELIVER!!! Extremely disappointed with the way Order# 1150685 was handled. Deprived me of the opportunity to purchase Cardas ICs before I returned from my vacation, and flatly refused to do anything to resolve the situation other than simply offering a refund, which already cost me money by way of exchange in my non-USD designated credit card.
Regret doing any business with this outfit. Certainly not befitting of the moral and the ethical values upheld by the great state of IL.

i've been burned by this company before and against my better judgement, tried to order from them online and have once again had a terrible experience. Their customer service person was extremely rude when i asked a simple question, and have not shipped the items in a timely fashion as they described.
They also take orders for items they know are not in stock, and have no re-release date, telling you "that you'll just have to wait".
I would encourage you to avoid this business and spend your money elsewhere. Saying things like "Well, we've never lost a package, and you should get it eventually" is not the kind of response you get from a company that cares about their customers. Bad operations, for sure.

What I do not get is I pre-ordered stuff @ 34.99 per lp and Amazon has a preorder price at 24.99.
Even Blue Note has it at 24.99.
When I asked them customer service they were like take it or leave kinda if attitude.

I ve been a Music Direct customer for over a year and their service and product selection is outstanding. I ve also talked to their staff for help in selections and they have been a great source of knowledge. I keep their catalogs all year as a reference.
Recently purchased an analogue productions vinyl record. It was shipped wrapped tightly around their thick catalog. Album was warped with almost half inch variance unclamped on platter. I called spoke with a rep whom sounded stoned and uninterested. Did offer to replace it if I mailed back my copy. For the small savings this company is not worth the hassle!!!!

A lot of everyday consumers assume this stuff is too expensive or too involved. Call them to tell them what you want, and ask to help.

Horrible customer service, sales rep Josh should not be in customer service. When is it ok for an employee in sales to totally disregard a customers need and then hang up the phone on the customer all because the customer prefer to pick up his order which the company allows rather than have the order ship. I had a good experience with Tom the first time I ordered a pair of B&W 600 series tower speakers which is why I went back to order a pair of B&W book shelve stands. Paying customers should not be treated like the way I was treated. Why are you dealing with the public if you are an irate person and you do not have any patient to talk with buying customers. This type of behavior will deter new and existing customer from purchasing with the company, and the sad part about this bad experience is that the company gets another bad review which hurts the company more than the sales guy Josh. This guy actually charge my credit card after he hung up on me this is horrible.
Love this place! They have everything from the latest, greatest electronics for playing music and the music too! One stop shop. The staff is so experienced and knowledgeable. I just purchased new speakers and Chris Berry was helpful guiding me to just the right brand and model. He also helped me with all my questions about speaker positioning and burn-in time. Way to go! Now I have a Rockin Setup that sound amazing!
Salesperson can t be bothered to follow up on requests for sales. In house customer service issues are blamed on the customer while no ownership of action is ever admitted by Music Direct. I ve never dealt with a more standoffish and accusatory staff in 20+ years of buying audio gear. Hard pass.

There is a gentleman named Al who works at this store who is amazingly fantastic. He was knowledgeable, polite and clearly hard working. He provided me with great service and helped pick the exact pair of headphones . Who ever his boss is needs to give him a raise before someone steals him.

The B&M store is an understandable compromise. It's a warehouse that sets up a listening room in the back and room full of vinyl. great selection, and the whole catalogue of Mo-Fi masters.
so why 3 stars? because I think most everyone there hate people. You have to enter in through the office where no one acknowledes you no matter how confused you look, nor how long you stand there, Then when pointed to the warehouse door, more employees walk past you disinterested. Then when a sales guy came into the demo room (I was there to hear a particular pair of speakers), he acted like he was missing the finally of the bachelor and gave me very little consideration. It was to the point where I felt bad for asking for his help.
anyway, the vinyl room was great, and I think that if you go into it knowing that you will be talking to a bunch of seemingly disgruntled hipster millennials and other warehouse hermits, you won't be as disappointed as I was. Long story short, I ended up buying the speakers from a different dealer because of that experience.
