Saw Titanic exhibition there. Some items of memorabilia such as Mrs Astor's life jacket. Better exhibition was the Holy Sepulchre exhibition that was computer generated 3D. Almost like being there. Worth the visit.

I'm quite upset about the staff manning the concessions in the lobby during the Banff film festival on Feb 3rd. I bought a plate of food and a drink handing over $20 plus tips. They neglected to say that I couldnt take either in to the show that was about to start. I would have very much appreciated that tidbit of info before buying concessions a few minutes before the show started. A simple sign or a simple "Hey FYI the show is starting and you cant take food inside" would have sufficed instead of telling me after taking my money.
2 large rooms. One with beautiful large photo prints all over (but nothing you couldn't see online), and the other large room with a more interactive setup, which is pretty cool, but I wouldn't say it's worth the money overall... for our kids at least.
Very conveniently located in the heart of the city, the Museum was focused on the history of Women of Egypt. It was interactive with 3D clips and short films. However, it was limited and certainly it will be unfair to compare it with a huge museum like British Museum. However, it was not even a far cry and a little disappointing in that sense. As with most brand specific shops, the National Geographic gift shop is also quite overpriced. The prices can be lowered and the sales increased, simple economics. It will give NG a lot more visibility (more items out in the market) and will also make buyers more satisfied in their purchases.
Enjoyed the NG Museum and the Queens of Egypt Exhibit. I did expect more exhibits though and did not realize that the museum was only on the ground level. A not-so-friendly security person informed me of that. A very interesting 3-D film is also showing about mummies.
Always impressed with how thorough and detailed the exhibits are. The Tomb of Christ was amazing. I'd recommend it to anyone for the historical significance if not the religious perspective. Wish the museum were in VA, otherwise I love everything about my visits here!
What a great place for the whole family. At the time of my visit, their exhibitions consisted of ancient Egypt with a focus on Cleopatra. So many relics to see and information to learn. The museum does a pretty good job at labeling every single item with a short history. Pictures are allowed just no flash. It is pretty amazing to see the sarcophagi in which some of the ancient Egyptians were lay to rest. It squares around itself so once you are finished you will end up at the entrance. So don't worry about being hectic or not knowing where to go next. Everything is connected. Highly recommended it. Follow me and my adventures ig: @Sin_Aguayo fb: sin Aguayo
Spanish in Colombia is pretty easy to pick up, due to the fact that every Colombian who sees you wants to talk to you. Colombian people are naturally drawn to foreign people. In some cases they treat the foreigner as if they were the smartest most trustworthy people they have met. So much goodwill can be downright unnerving sometimes. Probably the best thing about speaking Spanish in Colombia is that you don t have to really learn the names of any Colombian men. Instead, you can just refer to any man you have met on the street as maestro. In English, maestro is reserved for an artist who has their work displayed in many different museums around the globe or for someone who has been paid to conduct a symphony. Here in Colombia, you can call someone a maestro just because you like the quality of chips he is selling out of a shopping cart near the mini stop. An everyday phrase here in Colombia is, Hay un inconveniente. In English, this phrase would be used if maybe the meal you ordered at a restaurant is going to take 5 or 10 minutes longer than expected to arrive to your table. The waiter would tell you, Sorry sir, there is an inconvenience, the pork sandwich you ordered is going to take an extra 10 minutes before it will be ready. Good luck if you are in a hospital in Colombia and the doctor tells you, Hay un inconveniente. This no doubt means that what they thought was just a little routine acid reflux really means that your kidneys have exploded and you have 3 minutes to live.
You thank the clerk for such a warm welcome and try to explain to her that really you aren t anyone important. You actually just came in to buy $1,500 pesos ($0.75USD) worth of that good Bocatto ice cream and are not worthy of being called Your mercy. To this, the clerk will promptly respond, Para servirle (another common way to say at your service ). Even the older gentleman, with the fleet of dogs by the bus station is always asking...

Very neat experience, allows you to get lots of information and use vr. Must try the individual booth at the end, really allows for a full experience and more information! Wealth worth the money.
An amazing museum especially if you re a photography and travel junkie like myself We went to the Women exhibit that s there right now and I HIGHLY recommend going! It s $15 for entry but completely worth it in my opinion. Make sure to try and catch a guided tour to get more insight behind some of the photos.
The exhibits were awesome! We enjoyed every minute there. We were surprised that it wasn't larger. It truly only takes a couple of hours to see the whole museum.
The National Geographic Society is an impact-driven global nonprofit organization that pushes the boundaries of exploration, furthering understanding of our world and empowering us all to generate solutions for a healthy, more sustainable future for generations to come. Our ultimate vision: a planet in balance.
OUR CHALLENGE
The world we have celebrated for more than 130 years is now under threat to a degree that the Society s founders could not have imagined. When the Society was established in 1888, there were roughly 1.5 billion people on the planet. There are now over 7.6 billion people, resulting in unprecedented negative human impacts on the world s species and ecosystems.
By some estimates, our current resource demands are already 1.5 times what the planet can provide. According to a UN forecast, by 2050 there will be an additional 2 billion people, bringing the demands on the Earth s renewable resources to almost three times what it can sustain. As a result, we are in the process of dismantling the major ecosystems that are essential to maintaining not only the world s human cultures, but also all life on Earth.
Great place to visit with children to learn about history and the past. Currently starring till September 1, 2019 is the Queens of Egypt exhibition. A very interesting voyage in the past to learn a little bit more about Ancient Egypt and the life of the pharaohs and queens of Egypt. Admission in the museum is not free. You can check out their website for more details.
Have to be honest, I should have read the reviews first as its nothing here but a few pictures. For my wife, myself, and my daughter(child admission), it was $40 to get in. We walked the whole thing in 15-20 minutes and that's stopping and reading the descriptions of the few pictures that caught my eye. Super disappointed and you'd have your money much better spent on a subscription to the actual magazine. Or better yet pull up the internet and see it for free. Save your money as there are too many other free ones around that are MUCH MUCH better!
To be honest, I was disappointed. Knowing how large NG is, I was expecting a much larger museum with many more exhibits and history of the organisation. However only one of two exhibit halls were open and the space available to the public was small. There is a large shop though!
Small museums with mostly temporary exhibition. It's very interactive, though it depends on exhibitions. Good for people who subscribe and have the annual pass.
Good place for a 2+ hour visit, especially if the featured exhibit is of interest. Check before you go. Saw the Jane Goodall/chimpanzee research exhibit and film. Both very well done. Continuing exhibits of NGS photographic work and NGS history are interesting. Photo exhibits change periodically, also check online for topic. This visit was best for older kids or teens.
Great museum, the Titanic Exhibit is wonderful. The Tomb of Christ exhibit was pretty cool, but it seemed a little expensive for what it was. The Cafe had a great selection of food for a very reasonable price.
Very disappointing. $12 admission and it took 45 mins to view. Very little to interest an 8 year-old. We often take the metro into DC from MD to visit the Smithsonian Museums. This was not worth the trip. Save your money, but more importantly save your time. Too many other great things to see in DC.
This was such a waste of the $15 entrance fee. This place used to be a legit museum now it s just some pictures in a exhibit and a hallway of stuff... that s it. I also double checked with staff if I was missing anything and nope I saw it all in like 20 minutes. I wish I ready the reviews before coming. Shame on me.
At first I couldn't think of why to go here, but the Mom wanted to, so ok. It was unique and worthy of 2 hours. A 3D interactive walking video discription about the Tomb Of Christ, maybe more intriguing due to the turmoil there, but the archeology of it was fascinating. Also a great overview of the work that Nat. Geo has done over the years to promote science and biology and oceanography and paleontology, and the photographers and journalists who brought it home. I would go again.
Second time I've been here and I had to come check out the Titanic exhibit before it ended. Was not disappointed. Interesting to learn about the top secret US Navy mission that was actually being conducted and the amazing discovery of the Titanic towards the end of that operation. They had a few things from the actual shipwreck and this from the movie set, like the first class suite Rose was in and her blue dress and some of Jack's drawings (which are actually James Cameron's).
I love this place. I go to talks here at least once per month. Each speaker is incredibly interesting and professional. The museum always has really well-put-together exhibits that are great for everyone from adults to children. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. I don't usually rank places 5/5, but this one certainly deserves it!
It s rather small, I thought it would have displays about National Geographic (as an organization). The photography section is really good, enjoyed it.
Was closed as they were preparing new exhibits. Check website before heading there. Store was open. There were some displays on the history of the magazine in the lobby of the second building.
Great exhibit of the Jerusalem sacred site, Tomb of Christ restoration and a virtual 3D walk through as well as the other exhibit, the sinking of Titatnic. Must see for adults and kids... Enjoy!
