Hotel room was clean, but the lobby was under construction. We had a 2nd floor room that was nice enough but the noise in the hall woke both my wife and I a few times throughout the night. There bathroom was clean and the rain drop shower head was great.
The room was clean however, the bed was very uncomfortable. It was also very hot in the room. We put the temperature down to 60 degrees to no avail. Also NO FREE WIFI unless you paid extra

While the rooms are a little dated, the property is in great shape, the location can't be beat and the staff are phenomenal.
This is the hotel that all the conferences are held at. The hotel is clean and modern, the valet staff was very attentive when you arrive (no parking in the area - so this is important), and the front desk staff gave a small stuffed animal to my baby girl! The buffet breakfast is pretty decent with fresh made omelet bar. This is 1 block from the beach.
When I walk around the city with my children, they love to visit the hotel lobby. We have never spent the night there, we just spent some time lounging on the comfortable sofas and watching the good decorations.
I don't like hotels. It's usually not the fault of the hotel itself, but it's just a thing for me. Facilities are always nice and whatever, but what is usually noteworthy (good or bad) is the customer service. Thus, this review is mostly for some unexpected exceptional service from the staff.
Thanks to Emily at the front desk who made my day through the simple act of making my awkward poster-tube easier to carry with some clever arts-and-crafts.
And massive thanks to Rosa for finding my pounamu necklace that was a precious gift from my brother. She and her staff went back into the room and scavenged around a day after I had checked out to locate it and shipped it back free of charge. I received it 4 days later.
Those two simple acts of kindness were more than enough to warrant an 5 star review.
Ho hum but typical Marriott with what you expect in a room. Comfy bed with good linens. This hotel was under construction when we were there. Only valet parking but I used the Franklin St parking a couple blocks away for $7 for 24 hours.
Stayed two nights at the Monterey Marriott for a meeting.
Convenient location downtown. Friendly, helpful staff. Beds too soft. Bathrooms poorly designed! Toilet in a narrow cramped area, next to the shower. Low enough for a five year old, not for someone in their 80's. Convention center accessible by steep steps, again a problem for seniors.
The Monterey Hyatt was less expensive, with better rooms.

Will definitely be back. I'm very friendly front desk and restaurant staff. The parking accommodations were pricey for what you got but I guess that's economics for you.
This is probably the best hotel in Monterey. I loved the rooms and the breakfast. I did not like the fact that there isn't complementary bottled water. I take away one star just for this. Super close to the wharf and some good food joints nearby. The location is a win. Minor limitation: lacking in toiletries.
Solid property in a great location for downtown, but park your car elsewhere -- if a valet dings your car w/ someone else's door, Towne Park (their parking vendor) won't take the investigation seriously and will simply decline a claim.

There is a valet but it is expensive. The hotel is nice and comfortable and clean. I have been here twice for events and both times they were amazing

Every staff members I ran into are extremely nice. Bellmen open the door for us and immediately went to help someone else before we can possibly tip them, front desk is helpful and resourceful. They made my trip so nice that I forgot to pay attention to how old the hotel was or any hardware issues.
From the staff to the accommodations, our stay was top notch. Though it started a little rocky with our reservations getting trapped in the system and not released to our hotel, it skyrocketed to perfection by the friendly, helpful and always smiling staff. Our check in gal squee'd with delight when we told her it was our honeymoon and sent us a bottle of champagne to celebrate. This was our favorite hotel along our honeymoon route!
I love this hotel. It is centrally located to everything. My only issue with the hotel is the cost of parking in the area.

Overall a great experience. The location is great. Guest room is big and clean, The TV has internet TV, so you can watch YouTube or Netflix, but it is really small. Lobby is under renovation, makes the overall experience more like staying in a fancy high-rise motel.
Very elegant upscale place. Great view from the Ferrante Room on the 10th floor. Good service. You could have a wedding here.
I come once a year on business and it's lovely. Close to the beach and the wharf, and all the good things Monterey has to offer, like clam chowder! There are a few areas where they are obviously trying to save money, like room service -- where you have to go down and pick it up or pay a $5 fee for delivery. But the hotel is clean, the service is friendly, and it's a relaxing and enjoyable place to stay. No complaints, definitely recommended.

Room needs renovation. Furniture was old and stained, carpet was old and had a smell. Very low flow shower head, and shower curtain smelled moldy. Good TV and good location.

Old and we found spiders in our bed. Once we changed rooms the new bed squeaked every time you moved. Worst Marriot in this price range I have ever stayed in. It needs to a complete refresh. HORRIBLE.
I hadn't been back since their lobby renovation. It is very nice, has a contemporary and modern feel with an active lobby that has multiple spaces and work areas, lounge and bar areas, to relax, socialize, meet, or work. Lovely spot that has definitely been recently upgraded.
The bed is insanely comfortable. Always my first choice to stay here.
This hotel is beautiful. It's in a great location, and the service is excellent. The Upgraded breakfast is good, if you can swing a special price for it.
Excellent location to walk to the fisherman's wharf and many places to eat. I was a little disappointed with both of our rooms. The air conditioning did not work properly in either room. Maintenance was called and it still was not corrected. Other than that I would recommend the stay here.

Great customer service. Due to dietary restrictions, eating out when traveling is difficult. The receptionist had a pre-made list of restaurants the fit different dietary lifestyles including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free dishes. This helped out immensely with where I could eat and easily led me to one of the best dinners I've had at hulas! I got a free upgrade in my room that included a couch and a wonderful view of the Monterey hillside. Bed was super comfy and the shower had adaqute water pressure. Overall a very enjoyable experience.
This hotel is in the perfect location. Walking distance to great restaurants and the fishermen's wharf. The staff is friendly and the rooms are beautiful and very clean. The buffet breakfast is amazing. They even bring in fresh donuts from the local donut shop (Reds) every day! They are delicious.

Feeling compelled to write a positive review about what awesome customer service looks like.I stayed at the Monterey Marriot a few weeks back with my girlfriend, upon arrival we were told that the water was unavailable between 10pm - 5am....I was shocked to say the least but it was affecting the whole area. A lovely lady called Emily offered us a variety of options, such as another hotel, dinner on the house, she went beyond her way. In the end, she was able to discount our rate a lot for our hassle and gave us a drink at the bar. Thanks a lot!
My wife and I decided to get away for a long weekend and we thought Monterey would be great. The Hotel staff was excellent and tried to accommodate our needs from where to find dinner to parking. There is off site parking that is only two blocks away for about $7/day (does not include in and out service).
Perfect location, walking distance from Fisherman's Walldorf. Very big rooms. A little bit retro decoration.

I had a wonderful experience at Monterey Marriott. The entire team was super helpful and friendly. Special shoutout to the front desk for making it possible to get my room request and Steve for coming and fixing the tv in my room. I am definitely staying in this hotel the next time I m in town!

Very nice hotel. Staff accommodated us with a roll away bed at no extra charge. BUT what the hell is up with that shower?! The "seat" wasn't big enough for my foot, and was only 10 inches from the floor. The only towel bar is INSIDE the enclosure, and there is an 8 inch hole which lets the shower spray onto the toilet! Stupidest shower I've ever seen in a nice hotel.

But the room and pool were nice. There's a really nice courtyard area with a ping pong table and stuff. Location is good, we walked to the aquarium. Smart TV in the room!

We reserved a king room for 4 nights and were told when we checked in that a king wasn't available the first night. We could've moved to the king room after the first night, but who really wants do that after you've unpacked and settled in with a baby. Otherwise, the service was great and the hotel was clean and quiet.
The service was amazing, from check in to check out our room was superb. I highly recommend staying here for future visits.
