Monterey Sheraton Hotel Review

Great location walking distance to the warf, rooms were big and clean. The receptionists asked why we were there and stated for our son's 4th birthday. That night we received cookies and milk. Over all a great experience and I would highly recommend it.

My compliments to Jamie, who was our bellman both coming and going. Clued us in on all sorts of things about the locale and hotel. Great representative for the hotel! Personable and informative.

Typical hotel. Lobby and mezzanine cleaner than most.

Good clean hotel. Room maybe a bit old-fashioned but all right. You can open a window. From one side you have a nice view over the bay. Relative expensive. Great buffet breakfast, but very expensive. In the evening a bar but no restaurant. Cars can be parked in the house for $ 25 or around the corner for $ 7 in a parking garage. But there you have to get out and in every day.

We stayed on the 7th floor facing the wharf. The decor in our room was a bit dated. Even though there was a fridge, there was no safe in room. Noises from the street and the birds were heard throughout the night. Staff at the front counter and dining room were friendly. Gym and the heated pool on the second floor were good.

Not inexpensive soooo...hot water shortage? Housekeeping did not get to room until 415pm?? Nickel and dime for services too commonly gratis by other national chains.

Great team of individuals providing exceptional service. I would have rated a 5 star but the building was in need of renovations which I believe are scheduled to take place in early 2020.

Very nice rooms, very comfortable and nice amenities. Service was excellent. Views arent spectacular from the rooms but you're so close to many good restaurants and tourist areas. It has a Starbucks inside and pretty good food also.

This Marriott's redeeming feature is its location (although I very much doubt the massive concrete structure would get planning permission today - it is seriously ugly). We visited during covid and most of the process was online. We arrived early and had to see if a room was available. The checkin experience was perfunctory and cold - the right words were said, but with quite a lack of any warmth. Bad staff, bad day? Who knows.

The newly updated rooms are done well enough that, along with the location, the price is almost justified. The standard of the new work is ok -- our sliding bathroom door appears to be missing some parts / badly installed as it made a noise like an old rusty wheel.

If I'm back in Monterey again, I'll probably week an alternative. Despite my elite status at this group.

The Marriott was a wonderful hotel with polite staff and confortable beds, it was a bit pricey, but the service was wonderful. The views were beautiful and close to a bus that would take you into downtown. My stay was great although breakfast could have been tastier.

Highly accommodating worked well for a government trip

The hotel is very nice and the room we had was quite comfortable. It's also located in a prime downtown location. They offer valet parking at $25 per day, but there is no garage and street parking can be tricky if you're parking close. The bed was a king and quite conformable, though we slept poorly because of the miscalculated air conditioning and the door which does nothing to keep sounds from the hall from coming through (and there were a lot, even at 3am), but they did treat us to breakfast to make up for it and mentioned it may be resolved after an upcoming planned renovation.

Visiting Monterey has become an annual Christmas tradition for our family. For the past two years, we have stayed at the Marriott. The location is very convenient (with easy access to the free trolley, a quick walk to the wharf, nice walking path to cannery row and the aquarium, and plenty of restaurants to choose from). The hotel staff is friendly, the holiday decorations are nice, and all the basic amenities are available. There are also nice touches such as hot chocolate and warm cookies at the front desk. Overall, a pleasant stay. The noticeable differences between last year (2017) and this year were the missing stuffed animal at check-in for my daughter and the missing craft station where we were able to decorate and mail holiday cards. Not a deal breaker, but those were unexpected bonuses.

Nice hotel across the street from the convention center and *almost* walking distance from the Monterey Bay Aquarium (it's about a mile; there is a free shuttle that goes between the two, though) and in a location with some cute shops and resteraunt. A little dated in terms of decor (although I heard they were in process of redecorating) but everything was clean, warm, and comfy. Nice restaurant and bar in the lobby, inviting pool with a cool lounge area, mini fridge in the room, and friendly staff. If you want to stay in Monterey and don't require an ocean view or are doing something at the convention center, I would recommend this hotel. Only reason I knocked off a star was the slightly dated rooms, but don't let that stop you from checking it out (especially if they update soon).

Excellent location. Nice fitness center. Very helpful professional staff. Major drawback is soundproofing of rooms. Those nextdoor sound as though they are in your room.

Room was great, on the 5th floor with a king bed. View was away from the ocean (facing south) but still very scenic with very little obstruction. Really enjoyed a full shower and not a shower bath combo.

Great location, nice spacious rooms and good conference facilities, but a tad overpriced. There were also ants in my room.

As a Marriott Titanium member, I always stay in their properties when they're available and have become accustomed to their 5* service. My experience at this hotel was different. Upon check in the clerk normally thanks me for being a member and offers an upgraded room. Neither of those happened. When we got into our room, the two water bottles were opened and used. (One was half full). I went down to the desk and the clerk replaced them. There wasn't any other greetings as we left and returned over the weekend either. Maybe that's the custom in Monterey but I doubt we'll stay again.

A typical Marriott when it comes to the interior. Location is great - a 5min walk from the whale watching departs at Fisherman's wharf. Unfortunately our room was not clean and housekeeping had to come. Charging 14.95 bucks a day for WiFi is a bad joke. Plus - they couldn't give me the folio at checkout for technical reasons and after four days ( and two calls) I still got nothing. That's lousy!

Great location with very nice rooms. Was on the wharf with an easy 20 minute walk to the aquarium!

The front desk and room service are very good, the front desk staff is extremely friendly, but the interior is equipped with upgrades. The design of the sliding door of the bathroom is very problematic. If you push it open, you can't pull it back. You have to hand it back and need to adjust.

Beautiful place to do events, I have never stayed tgere since I am a local, but I have set up for a lot of events there.

Fine building and nice decor. Valet parking only or off site parking 3 small blocks away. Beds pretty bouncy, but not terribly uncomfortable.

The rooms were wonderful. The staff very professional. No microwave and at almost $400.00 a night it should have had a microwave. Said partial ocean view....if you call about 1foot view of the ocean then you would be happy. I was not impressed.

Hotel good, clean and with good breakfast. Staff a little over stressed (they rush you into the restaurant and are not too patient to answer questions on the phone). Good location next to Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey.

Spent a few nights and I found my stay to be well within comfort. A little pricey (but I did get the room last minute). The loss of two stars would have been warranted for the rude and short tempered staff of the Marriott, but the convenient location to the various attractions brought this down to a 4/5 for me.

Great location. Walking distance to many coffee shops, non-chain restaurants, and Walgreens, where I picked up everything I forgot to pack. And if you're out most of the day, you can easily find free parking a block away or less if you return before 10pm. Rooms my family booked at different times have the sink and vanity separated from the toilet and tub room, a feature my wife loved. Clean rooms and very comfy beds. Wish the sliding doors to balconies closed more completely to lock out wind and car noise, particularly if you have a room with windows to street. Floorplan a bit confusing after exiting elevator to room; room can be quite a walk from elevator. Great coffee across the street at Lumiere.

Nice hotel in the heart of Monterey. 4 stars because it's currently under renovation, and the design of the new bathrooms is strange. Nice materials, but not nearly enough light.

Room was clean and nice sized. The breakfast buffet was overpriced. Staff very nice and helpful!

One of our favorite Marriots. Pleasant room with view of Monterey Bay. Easy walk to historic district and Fisherman's Wharf. Cheerful and helpful staff. Valet parking is expensive and only on-site option, but cheap safe city parking is a block away. Excellent buffet breakfast.

Toddler review: they loaned us a nice clean pack and play. Leah from Housekeeping was very helpful.

The hotel is old and dirty. There was no service in the pool. The pool area was super dirty. The water has a very bad taste, chlorine. We had to buy mineral water to wash our teeth. Terrible and super expensive.

Best hotel breakfast I've ever experienced and oatmeal accoutrements were amazing. However, the room service was less than desirable. The Brioche with White Cheddar was made with American Cheese and the Kale Salad was only romaine lettuce.

I worked the after race party for the Big Sure Marathon, checking in the runners. Marriott provided a fine dinner and entertainment for them. The food was terrific and the cookies were fabulous (so I was told

Nice hotel. We stayed there for 2 nights and the hotel has nice bar too. There's only valet parking $25 . We parked a block away for free but you have to leave the parking garage before 8 am in the morning.

A great weekend getaway located walking distance from several craft breweries. Staff was very friendly. Great breakfast. Highly recommended. Will return.

Smells like an Ambercrombie store. My eyes, nose & throat are burning. They have automatic air fresheners EVERYWHERE that spritz that disgusting smell.

Its clean as can be and the location is pretty great too!

We stayed this past Saturday for a wedding in Monterrey. We are gold rewards members but received nothing in the form of an upgrade. Room not ready even though they texted us that it was ready at 9am. No room upgrade and the rooms are pretty old. We had a terrible view and pool below us was noisy. No concierge level. Valet was quick and very helpful.

Very nice upscale hotel for those who want to enjoy life in the heart of Monterey.

Nice hotel, but there is no lounge for gold and plat rewards members. Located within walking distance of most attraction like Canarry Row.

Such a nice hotel, like any other Marriott. Beautiful location in Montereym

I came for conference and enjoyed my time tremendously. They did very well with the menu because my organization way very picky about foods (some gluten free, vegan, special oils with.) They took the challenge and the F&B performence was fantastic. Very comfy beds, clean, well lit and close to all day parking garages.

They live up to Marriot standards. Neat decorated rooms and upstanding service. Location is perfect, all points if interest in Monterrey downtown are on walking distance. Didn t try the food because we wanted to explore local restaurants butwe had a great stay overall.

The rooms, suites, service, and ambience were all fantastic. The services provided by the professional management and staff are the main reasons that we keep coming back. The old world elegance is a rare thing, and we value their focus to make sure that everything about the lodging experience is excellent. I highly recomend this hotel.

Great location to access many of the Monterey attractions. Rooms are updated with many of the expected amenities.

The Monterey Marriott was very nice. My girlfriend and I stayed only one night for new years, but it was very comfortable, clean and was in a very nice and interesting part of town. I think of you want to stay in a place near a lot of fun stuff to do, this place is ideal.
