This place was incredible. The history is mind blowing and the structure itself is like a time capsule. Everything is kept up in meticulous detail. The amount of activities and things to do is pretty impressive even with covid raining on everyone's parade. In every way. The food was incredible and although it wasn't the world famous buffet, was still plentiful. The lake was well stocked and very entertaining and full of things to do and the trails and wildlife were everywhere. By the way. Time to beat from bottom of mountain top of sky top stairs is 3.44.

Food is terrible the buffet served basically the same meal 2 days in a row, mash vs red bliss?? Unbelievable! It is so disappointing to plan a honeymoon and actually leave early! Yes that bad!

There are fantastic hikes at this location and you don't even need to stay over at the mountain house, you can just get a day pass at the gate house. Beautiful views, the hike itself is not very difficult, but very rewarding and entertaining.

This is a magical place! It's as if it's been frozen in time all these years. I have not had the pleasure of an overnight stay, as it it is in a price point I cannot afford, but it is my dream to stay overnight once in my life! Ever since I was a young girl, my friend's mom used to pick me and a few other friends up from our houses in the weeee hours of the morning once per year to drive up to Mohonk Mountain House from New Jersey. We would have breakfast and then hike the trails (made it through the lemon squeeze) to the top of the mountain where we would enjoy gorgeous vistas.
My friend's mom asked one thing of us...every time we visit Mohonk, bring someone who has not experienced this special place. 20+ years later, I still honor that request and bring a new guest with me to experience all the resort has to offer.
I've experienced manicures and pedicures in their award winning spa (the pedicure stations overlook the lake). Afternoon tea is not to be missed, ice skating, horseback riding, boating, dining...you can do it all. I've done it all as a day guest.
My favorite weekend is the Scottish weekend. Bagpipes, kilts & demonstrations galore!
I can't wait to visit again in the future. Saving my pennies for an overnight!

I attended a wedding hosted here and the staff were so professional and friendly. The views were inredible and the food served was delicious. The grounds and building are enormous. The only downsides to the experience were extremely long valet drop off and pick up times.

This place is pretty amazing. I would probably never stay here overnight because of the price, but my significant other and I did a day trip where we paid for the BBQ buffet which got us entrance in the grounds/ hotel for the whole day and it was EXCELLENT! The BBQ buffet was on point! We also did some light hiking around the grounds, paddle boats, guided hotel tour, cookies & milk, etc. The grounds were in impeccable care and we enjoyed learning more about the hotel history with the tour. It's a perfect way to spend a beautiful spring/summer day. One of the best day trips I've ever experienced!

Love this Resort! My fiance and I are getting married here this Nov 1st and I couldn't be any happier. Our wedding coordinator is a great person and the food is amazing! This is a great resort tucked away where you will fall in love with its old Vintage, Victorian like charm. It makes you feel as if you have stepped into a different place in time and you will not walk away disappointed. Prices maybe a bit higher than a Bed & Breakfast but well invested because this is An American Resort with so much to offer for all times of the year :)

Leave behind the city life and your electronics, This is the relax and play. My first time here but it won't be my last. I feel unwind here and choose from the 200 plus chairs overlooking nature best or a sitting area with a book and a fireplace. Plus the spa is awesome, and hiking trails for all levels of walkers.

Just spent the long weekend here with my husband for our anniversary. The views are absolutely amazing and gorgeous! We greatly enjoyed the hikes, especially the ones we did with Naturalist Michael, who was great! His knowledge and passion for nature was evident in each hike we did with him, making the experience especially enjoyable. The night hike is one worth taking for a great experience of nature in the dark and star gazing. Secondly, the food was phenomenal. I don't think we have had such amazing food - breakfast, lunch, dinner and desert were all delicious. The presentation of each meal was perfected and the service given by the wait staff was also above expectations for any resort, attending to every need of the guests. We loved it here and would recommend this place to family and friends!!! Hoping to come back one day for some more hiking and relaxation!

Sunday Brunch at the Mohonk Mountain House is well worth its price. The brunch is always made up of a variety of fresh dishes, many of which are now made-to-order. In addition to great food, the reservation grants access to the grounds and house.

Mohonk Mountain House is an amazing resort and retreat in NewPaltz New York offering a unique opportunity to stay in the mountains and enjoy all the benefits of Lake life, hiking, biking and the great outdoors. The service at the resort is top quality and the food is equally great. Every room has its own unique view as the resort spread itself along the ridge of the lake crater. There are numerous trails to hike and bike. One of the more unique trails is the labyrinth rock scramble which is not for the unfit! The most beautiful trail is the one leading up to the Skytop Tower which hosts a command a view of the entire area. There is music on a nightly basis in the parlor room which has a grand view of the lake. The lake itself features a beach, several docks, rowboats, paddleboats, swimming and tons of amazing vantage points. Situated on top of Mohonk Mountain it is only 15 or 20 minutes from the town of New Paltz which is also a worthwhile visit.

My wife and I just returned from a one day trip to Mohonk. We enjoyed an amazing lunch and the conversation of the lovely young staff person who waited on us. We then went snow shoeing, had a great Spa adventure which included the out door mineral bath. Then dinner, which was very enjoyable and Amber our server was sweet and attentive. (This was my wife's birthday and the staff didn't get the message for the birthday order, but Amber took care of the dessert which read "Happy birthday Janet).
If I could have rated this experience six stars I would. One interesting observation, there is a $5 charge for valet parking, but when I looked at the receipt this morning I noticed that the parking fee was only $2 and the added on gratuity was $3! Still great staff very good food and a terrific massage. We have been to Mohonk several times and it keeps on getting better and better.

Great hiking trails and beautiful grounds. Highly recommend trying the labrynth tail. Hotel was not modern or very updated but it was nice, clean, and historic. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was nice, the BBQ lunch at the granary was awesome, and the dinner was good but small portions. Was a little pricey but will definitely plan another trip in the future.

Absolutely gorgeous venue. We went up for a wedding and found the property, people, facility breathtaking. Beside the gorgeous real estate they are definitely doing something great with their people. All the employees seemed genuinely engaged in wanted to make the stay even better asking if they could offer ANYTHING else in a genuine interested way rather than just going through the motions.Good was deliscous, served promptly, and although we ate outside on the porch in mid July, no bugs, mosquitoes, etc anywhere.

Lots of people at this classic mountain resort. Was a beautiful place to hold a wedding and the staff were lovely to work with. It appeared there was copious hiking as well as canoeing and paddle boarding.

Breakaway from city life and step back in time as you enjoy great hospitality and everything nature has to offer.

If you enjoy the outdoors, you'll enjoy Mohonk Mountain house, no matter what season you visit. You can enjoy hiking, swimming, boating, and so much more. in addition to outdoor activities, you can find interesting relics from a simpler time throughout the property.

In addition to everything there is to do, the accommodations and food are top notch.

Winter, spring, summer, or fall, you'll find something to enjoy at Mohonk Mountain House.

Overall, great experience. The trails, the activities (highly recommend the tomahawk throwing!) were awesome! The dining was great as well and the WiFi coverage and facilities were top notch for our Executive team. I didn't use the spa, but their gym facilities were really nice even for a gym rat like me.
However, the place is old and even though they work hard to keep it up, it IS old. The door to the outdoor patio wouldn't lock and I was on the ground floor. There were gaps in windows where you could feel cold air blowing directly in during cold nights, and the patio door even blew open a few times with heavy wind.
But I didn't complain so they may have fixed all that if I had.
Overall, I'd still highly recommend the place as the scenery and great stuff far outweighs any bad.

Beautiful views. Many activities and points of interest for small children, both inside and outside. A LOT of families. We went on a free community day so it was much more crowded than usual. To be perfectly honest, there is nothing here that's truly unique for the area. What you're really paying for is having it all in one place, convenient and simple to access.

This place charges high end prices but doesn't match it in facilities or customer service. Gate staff especially make you feel like you shouldn't be there, despite what you pay to stay/eat/hike there. Your money will be much better spent elsewhere--drive a couple more hours to Lake Placid or Stowe from NYC if you're looking for a mountain retreat.

As beautiful as the views are, the management made this place and experience a true rip-off. I was trying to show the view from the sky top to my older parents yesterday. As we got to the gate they employee with a face expression that screams "don't even think of coming in" approached the car and started by saying that even though the sign said that day hiking is done for the day, he had some available parking spots. Than he said that it costs $27 per person, and rushed to tell me that I cannot see the house (which I didn't even plan on doing), and to be out of the lot before 3:30 PM. Oh and the last thing he finally decided to mention is that there was no shuttle. So essentially he was selling me 2 hours of the parking at $27*4=$112. At that price I can park my car in one of the more expensive garages in Manhattan for a week! Now the question; how great do you think you are that you decided that people must pay$27 a person to walk your forest? Great disappointment and letdown from you after driving my parents to your place for 2+ hours.

You will like the hiking area rather then staying here, lots of trails, mostly level A, but few level D, which is very difficult, preferring experienced hikers, it s a one way hike, respect others, don t do the wrong way hiking, the trail entrance is right next to the hotel or the Lake. Take your time, don t carry back pack.

Lovely old place. Like going back in time. Activities, food and drink are amazing. The only draw back was the staff. Not sure if it's an overworked/underpaid issue but they do not seem happy for the most part and are a little abrupt. Nothing specific, just a lot of little things. I know service industry jobs are not joyful by nature but for the money we paid, they should get paid enough that they're not miserable.

Mohonk Mountain House is a beautiful historic resort located in NY State. When we visited last March, the lake was frozen and the ground was covered with snow. Did some hiking with snowshoes on and had a fantastic time!

Went to hike the Labyrinth Path (Lemon Squeeze) at Mohonk. Super fun but difficult trail with amazing views! It was unclear how to get from the parking lot to the trails, they should make this more accessible for hikers.

While I enjoy the mountain house aesthetically, it is disgusting the restrictions, rules, and developement that has occurred on the property. A beautiful place in nature marred by the fancy man.

We have been here before and each time we return there are new things to do and places to explore. The dining room has definitely upped their game. The food is wonderful. The are taking Covid 19 social distancing seriously. The entire staff is wonderfully friendly.

This review is for day hikers only, as I have not been a guest at the hotel in many years. We paid $20 dollars per adult and child over 12 (which for our family was $75) to park in the lot, and hike the labyrinth (rock scramble). We were told that we could wait for a bus that came every 20 minutes or walk one mile to the Mountain House. Since we wanted to save our energy for the challenging hike, we waited for the bus. We missed one and then waited for 35 minutes for another. We asked the attendant at the gate several times why the bus was late, but he just shrugged and was very unhelpful. Then, irritated with us (even though we just paid $75) he said "it's only a mile why don't you just walk." So we did. After walking over a mile on a trail where the "Mountain House" was not marked, we began to feel lost. We called the front desk and discovered that it was, in fact, a 2.5 mile walk and we needed to follow signs to "picnic lodge" something the attendant didn't bother to tell us. It took us an hour to arrive at the entrance to the labryinth, and was probably close to 3 miles from the parking lot.

The labyrinth is a great, challenging rock scramble that made us forget about the bad customer service and MIA shuttle bus. However, at every crevice in the rocks you could see TRASH. Yes, gatorade bottles etc. like a garbage dump. We wondered why a place that charges so much money could not send staff out to pick up this debris. Of course it would be nice if people didn't throw it there to begin with, but as guests we simply did not want to look at it. We wanted to experience nature-- but this really detracted. We were also told two times that day guests are not allowed to enter the hotel. Not that we wanted to, but it made us feel like we were second class citizens or something.

Went for a day hike in the fall. Amazing scenery and strenuous (if you want it to be) hiking and rock scrambling to get to Skytop tower. The day hike pass is a bit on the expensive side ($29 per person) but IMHO worth at least one visit
