I would give the cuisine 5 stars or more if I could. Some desk staff were rude. Some servers and "greeter" came across as cold and unwelcoming. The dining room is not what I would expect from such an expensive place and did not match the quality or excellence of the food. It felt almost like a college cafeteria. One server made snyde political remarks that were unnecessary and unwelcome. If you ever do have a meal and are lucky enough to get AMBER as your server, she will enhance your experience. Rooms were clean, but not large. It is an old building so the floors are very squeaky and creaky and anyone in the room above you makes a lot of noise, and you can hear whatever your "neighbors" are doing or saying. A LOT of little kids running and screaming through the halls. Did not make for a "retreat" experience as it was intended. The hikes and views were stellar and the outside male staff workers were awesome and friendly. So I would absolutely recommend the hiking or treating yourself to a very nice meal, but maybe not so much to stay if you want to get any rest, peace and quiet or ambiance. And even though we paid for an extra night, as it was a holiday weekend, we chose to leave instead and forfeit the other meals we paid for. It was going to rain the next day, and there was nothing else to do if we didn't want to hike in the rain. I'd have more peace and quiet in my own home and my own bed. I've had more restful nights and bigger rooms staying at a Hampton Inn.
