I'm a black male and a former Biltmore customer. On the 21st I had a reservation for the Millennium Biltmore hotel w/a checkout date on the 26th. I arrived in LA around 3 pm & at the hotel to pay for my whole reservation charge around 5. After I put all my luggage in my room, I changed and came downstairs wearing slippers & comfortable clothing, the type of clothing that lets one know that you are staying at a residence. I walked to a security guard who saw me leave the elevator & specifically asked him where the business center was & he pointed me in the right direction. Upon noticing that you had to swipe your card just to even use the computer, I left & asked the same security guard if the hotel had free wifi. Understand that at this time, several guests passed through the hallway. In response the guard asked me if I was a guest at the hotel. He asked if I was a guest at the hotel, while I was wearing slippers, after I just left the front desk to pay my bill, & after I left the elevator. In response I asked if he asked any of the other guests which had passed (I knew it was false because several had passed before I asked him the wifi question). Regardless, he blatantly lied and said he asks every guest he sees. Note that he did not ask me if I was a guest the first time. At this point, I simply shook my head & left the hotel to get my car from the valet. By the time I reached the valet, I realized I left my valet slip in my room & I turned to get it. This is when I see that the guard had silently followed me outside of the hotel and was behind me. So at this point, it was now harassment since I had already left the premises. As I calmly walked forward and shook my head at his continual questioning, he got agitated & barrelled towards me as if he was about to tackle me. He saw I was expecting it & instead aggressively imposed himself between myself & the door. At this point, I stared at him & told him, "if you touch me, there's going to be problems". A second guard was watching from a distance as he tried to regain some form of professionalism & stated he would call LAPD before asking loudly, "are you a guest of the Biltmore hotel?". Irritated I showed him my card, stated that he could have clearly asked the valets who parked my car earlier and that he saw me leave the elevator, and that he was asking this question loudly so he can excuse his foolish behavior. At this point, he let me pass but was still following me. As I went the elevator, I turned & saw that he went the front desk, an action he could have taken ASAP to determine whether I was a guest and to avoid all this trouble. Moments later I came down w/my valet pass to the 2 guards and the front desk clerk with the main racist guard stating I had to exit the premise because I threatened his well-being. Really? This guard antagonized the situation to achieve what he wanted, my expulsion, because he felt belittled and embarrassed. He had 2 chances to verify my temporary residency at the hotel & told a blatant lie to hide his racism (by this time droves of residents were moving to & fro). It wasn't the guard's actions that truly shocked me (I had to inform him he was less of a man for his behavior), it was that of the front desk clerks. They obliged his request for my expulsion & all of them followed me up to gather my stuff. I knew that the clerk knew the guard was in the wrong because when I got back down to get my car, he followed me & told the valets not to charge me the $45 that they already would have charged me for leaving my car with them for the entire day (I asked for the full day valet service). The next day I got their corporate # & left a detailed description of the events but to this day, I have yet to receive a response. I didn't want to take this to the legal arena but the Biltmore has left me no choice & I will get a lawyer ASAP if I hear nothing by this week. All my black brothers and sisters, boycott & avoid the Biltmore
Also at 1 o'clock at night you can leave your rental car for parking on arrival. The whole box is on - American - old trimmed, but with a certain charm. Room ok, service very friendly. (05/2014)
Friendly staff, has a business center that you can use to print boarding passes, and location is close to restaurants
Glorious. Beautiful hotel. Spendid lobby. Quaint room.
This was the perfect place to stay on our trip to Los Angeles. It was reasonably priced, close to the train, and walking distance to all tourist stuff we wanted to do. Unfortunately we did not make breakfast any of the days. We did use the pool, and it was nice to cool off in. We were able to leave our bags when our room wasn't ready so we could still go do things. The room was big and bathroom was updated.
Historic and elegant hotel, until recently the nominations for the Oscars took place here. Too bad there was no tea and sugar bags were not enough for the guests.
The window panes were dirty and the bathroom was too small.
Room quality is good. Valet is good if expensive. Needs more bell hope. Service is really slow when they're booked solid. If you're looking for atmosphere, this is a great place to stay
The historical beauty is nice. Parking prices are steep, $45 for overnight guest. Room could use a little modernization but overall pleased with my night there. No free WiFi either. That's a bit of a bummer. It cost a bit more than other similarly ranked hotels but offer a lil less.
Set in the heart of the city, Millennium Biltmore Hotel Los Angeles provides easy access to Los Angeles's popular retail and sightseeing areas. It offers complimentary Wi-Fi, a Jacuzzi and an indoor pool.
Guests can make the most of the outdoors on the terrace or have a drink at the bar. The front desk operates around the clock and the friendly staff can suggest sights to visit and provide other tourist information. It also has a gym with a swimming pool.
The air conditioned rooms at Biltmore Millennium Hotel are well-appointed. They all have tea and coffee making facilities, a private bathroom and a flat-screen TV.
Millennium Biltmore is close to 7th Street / Metro Center Station, making it easy for guests to travel around Los Angeles and its surrounding areas. It is also within walking distance of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Its a very pretty hotel. At the event I attended I had to pay for water, which was annoying.
Meeting facilities are great but don't expect too much beyond that.
Ugh is mostly what I have to say about this place. It's a functional hotel with some fancy dining, but that's about it.
The whole place was decorated to mimic European opulance, and they mostly succeeded, but in a modern world, it just seems tacky to me. The lobby is easily the best place in the whole hotel; the rooms leave much to be desired.
Decor was tacky and confused. Regal-style desk next to a beat-up dresser that looked like a Best Western reject. Headboards looked like they bought them from a Goodwill in the '60s. No decorations except for a couple of mirrors (so old-fashioned) and what appeared to be an amateur-matted screenshot of Mad Men (which I understand was filmed in the lobby). Basically, none of the furniture matched at all. The paint is laid on thick and sloppily. They obviously didn't bother to use tape to mask off the different colors which is just lazy. The devil's in the details here, guys!
Maid service took awhile and they don't give you enough toilet paper. Also no bottled water in the rooms and no easy way to get at some. I ended up drinking out of the bathroom sink. No casual dining options where a solo person could feel comfortable, so even getting food was a challenge! Nowhere to just grab something convenient like a bag of chips except for a Walgreens a few blocks away with some sketchy clientele. I felt like a survivalist!
I just get annoyed with places that claim to be opulent and elegant but fall totally flat on execution. I don't know what other people see in this place. Are you all just dazzled with the decor??
I guess this place just wasn't for me. Other reviewers seem to like it pretty well. If you're looking for something different from the usual chains, it's a viable option, just be aware of the lack of simple conveniences that I personally find essential to a comfortable stay.
Great service. Large room but small bathroom. If you enjoy historical buildings, this is a great place to stay.
The hotel caters for anything you might possibly need for an anniversary trip and is very romantic
The service was great. Super welcoming and helpful at arrival. The hotel has a very vintage feel, which gives an extra sense of comfort. But a vintage feel also comes with outdated rooms.
Fantastic historic hotel with approachable staff and vintage decor.
Went to the Gallery Bar for a couple drinks. Great atmosphere and good drinks!
Old Hollywood glamour is the first thought you have when you walk in. Rooms are spacious and we'll decorated. Bar had great drinks. Breakfast buffet had fresh omlettes although a bit pricey
Way overpriced for tiny room and $50 fee for parking.
This place has a legit old world charm associated with it. The hallway is so dreamy!! Kudos for maintaining it for almost a century now!!
Loved our stay. Absolutely great service .
Best valet and best bar!!
We loved our stay
The service at this hotel is terrible. Over charging for everything.
Would not come back to this hotel again. Maybe if it was completely free, that's about the only thing that would convince me to come back. No gym, very old rooms, and dirty carpet. It looks like they haven't updated this room in 15 years. Smh
Room was very comfortable, but had a couple minor age-related quirks (the building dates to the early 1920s), such as very small, tight bathrooms and inconvenient electric outlets besides those built into the lampstands. All the staff were exceptionally helpful and pleasant. The Gallery Bar is a particular highlight, as one of the most beautiful spaces in the city.
Good location, opposite the metro, helpful staff and nice room. Formerly the Oscar ceremony was presented on it.
The hotel was really nice and clean but a little bit old. The position was good. The breakfast at the hotel was not good at all, considering that on the bread we found the mold and also really prize for what it was, we paid 50$ for 2 persons.
I paid for and hosted two tables at the National Charity League Ball on 12/22/18 - one of my guests found a two inch piece of cardboard in their in their salad. When I entered the kitchen and shared the experience with the catering manager and executive chef I expected there would be some resolution to the experience - nothing! I would expect reparation of the $204.96 I was charged for my stay. I was absolutely mortified that I paid $285.00 for a guest to attend this ball and my guest found rubbish in their salad. No one in your Kitchen Staff noticed the trash in the salad and it was served to my guest.
This place is a joke. Really nasty rooms. I found old underwear and evidence of drug use in my room. Empty year old beer cans on top of the cabinets. Someone had a whiskey and coke party on the bathroom door. Boogers on the walls. Furniture that looks like it came from Goodwill. Shower that got everything wet but me. No pictures on the walls. Room smelled like it had bed bugs. No fridge or microwave. No view. Noisy part of town. And bad, bad, bad traffic getting here. 30 dollar a night valet parking. And everything cost money. No comps. Stay at Best Western and try and commute if you can.
Nice but dated. My room was HUGE! Tv felt like it was 40 feet away. Feels like the Overlook Hotel. I recommend The Omni up the hill.
As a movie fan i really enjoyed staying in this hotel, picking out areas where movies have been filmed and all the Oscars history all over the ground floor, very grand hotel in design, except for the rooms, although clean, small and dated and cramped bathroom. Very friendly staff and informative no problem there. Very close to shops, pubs, restaurants and public transport
Rooms are comfy; beds, sheets, pillows made me sleep like a baby. The architecture and interior design is beautiful, paneled walls, ornate ceilings in the lobby and dining areas, but not gaudy. Simple but elegant hallways on the guest room floors. Service is excellent. Not far from the metro -- Location, location, location. Bathrooms are a bit small (not small enough to really bother us too much) but that is the case with a lot of older hotels before modern plumbing changed the way hotels are designed. Anything that wasn't "perfect" (whatever perfect means) is not enough to ruin my five star review. We were here for a music festival. Would stay here again next year.
Despite being an older hotel, it is beautiful, upscale and historic. The staff were kind and treated us with star status.
The hotel is outstanding! Good accommodation, delicious foods, very unique spa to experience I like the japanese inspired I love the outfit tho. Very clean rooms and the staffs are kind. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends and relatives. We'll visit you again soon. Thank you for the amazing experience!
Most staff were fine examples of how to treat their guests, but the ones that were in positions of power look down at us and did not make us feel welcome. Considering how much i spent, i dont see myslef ever going back.
Very niceplace where all the Presidents had meetings. The movie stars stayed and had the award meetings as well.
Labrinyth event was amazing and fun! Hotel made great accommodations!
Clutch, came through and booked me on short notice! Got me together real quick. I m here until I leave
Although the reception and the restaurant are very impressive, the building is old and there is a lot of noise in the rooms, which are nothing special. The parking is too expensive. In total it is quite overpriced.
Beautiful hotel. Room was clean and everything worked as expected.
I stayed at the Millennium on March 9th. The key cards were not working, so I never got a key to the room. I had to wait for security on my floor to unlock my door more then once. A major inconvenience. Also, the WiFi was not working in the room, so I could not use my laptop, also an major inconvenience. There was no hot water after 10 p.m. I was told by the front desk that they would refund the taxes and fees on my credit card . Since I have not seen that credit, I called and found out that I have to go through the booking agent to do so. Not what I was told at the front desk. Overall, very poor experience. They should have refunded my total stay. Have you ever stayed in a place that you could not have a key to your room?
Great looks downstairs, however rooms are outdated and noisy due to the windows don't close properly.
Very detailed architecture and lots of charms. This is where a lot of movies were filmed.
I had higher expectations. I was below a restaurant or event space. Every night for 20 minutes I had to listen to chairs scraping the floor as they were moved around. The walls are pretty thin too.
Stayed for 4 nights. Lady who checked us in was moody and not very accommodating. Lobby is grande but deluxe rooms are very small and bathroom needs serious modernisation and updating in both deluxe/executive rooms. Our room was not hoovered at all on the bedside carpets see photos. The swimming pool/spa was out of access during our stay which was a real shame - the hotel had made arrangements for guests to use an outdoor pool at an alternative hotel which was a 5 mins uphill walk away. We had hotel club lounge access where we had breakfast and complimentary snacks and tea/coffee. Breakfast was delicious! Abundance of fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, toast, tortilla chips and salsas. All very tasty and was replenished quickly. Would be nice to have hot oatmeal. Service in the lounge was quick and always with a smile. Snacks were average - only sweet snacks in the afternoon.
This hotel has a good central location, close to restaurants, an amazing food market nearby and subway station for transport links.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel.
In a double bedroom room shared between 4 others. Beds are a tad small but there's plenty of room to roam. Unfortunately, there weren't enough towels but we requested them and they were delivered.
The Biltmore has a gorgeous interior that screams Old Los Angeles. They really don't build them like this anymore. The classic decor coupled with modern amenities and comfortable beds make the Biltmore an excellent hotel to stay whether you are looking for glamor or relaxation.
I go every month to visit this hotel with friends and we always have a good walk.
Currently staying here. Just arrived last night. I was a little concerned about the place after reading many of the reviews here and on other sites. Thus far, I have been pleased. As many people have noted, the lobby is beautiful & the staff is friendly. What I was concerned about was the room. I was given a room on the 10th floor, which I believe is one of the club floors. It is great! Clean, no broken fixtures, and the bed is comfortable. The room is a little small, but it has been my experience that hotel rooms in the downtown of many major cities are on the small side. Going to be attending the Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball tonight & tomorrow night. We'll see how the rest of my stay here goes.
Favorite Hotel in LA but double charged me & took weeks to correct & still overcharged.
Beautiful hotel, helpful and kind staff, great location, clean rooms
Oh my gosh! This place is beautiful! Wish I would have stayed here, but so glad I went in and had a drink with my husband before we had dinner at 71 above
I booked this hotel for the night, and I'm impressed because they were able to accommodate me comfortably. The front office has a very courteous and friendly staff who magnificently booked me with no delays. The rooms, facilities, amenities, etc. are very wonderful and I'm sure that I will come back here again someday. THANKS!
One grievance is we didnt have a fridge and had to wait a couple minutes to get one brought up but it was only a couple minutes. Room is clean, free wifi, tv, pool and gym area
Location is convenient, right next to Pershing Square. Lots of restaurants and things to do nearby, a short walk from MOCA and Little Tokyo. Room is very clean, classic design. Comfortable beds. Could have more counterspace in the bathroom, though. Also wished there was a fridge.
Former a 4 star hotel I expected a little better service. One night there was only one bellman on staff, the first time we came into our room it smelled like cigarettes, and getting anything to the room took at least 45 min. The gallery bar had really great drinks and service so that helped. The breakfast buffet was amazing and fresh and the guy making omelets deserves a raise just for making great food and always having a smile. The building is beautiful but I'm hoping that my next stay is better than the first.
Loved the decorations and the ambience. Enjoyed the buffet lunch. Will go back again.
Gorgeous hotel...just visiting....valet area not prepared for big events
No Free Wi-Fi,
Unfriendly staff,
Small Pool,
I went there for afternoon tea and the service was fantastic. The food was a little less than I expected considering the price and the location. The food quality I expected to be better
Excellent hotel, great attention and concern to satisfy.
Attended a 300-person dinner event. Everything from parking to dessert was perfect. Top notch waitstaff. Setting is unmatched. Classic Old LA.
Hello everyone this hotel is suck customers service is worse i paid my room in avance 2 week
And they asked for security deposits 100 dollars they keep my deposits and they charge me more in my visa don t trust this people please they re pickpockets
The look of the hotel was gorgeous on line and the outside. I was not happy w/the room. It appeared as though the carpet had not been vacuumed/or the room thoroughly cleaned. The room was on the 8th floor and had peeling ceiling paint. After checking in, I actually read the reviews and checked right back out at the early 3 a.m. ish time w/my two daughters. Great customer service w/regard to accommodations and checking in and back out.
The hotel was beautiful but our stay was not so great. Our room had leftover food in the fridge from the previous guest which smelled when you opened the fridge. We did not get our breakfast voucher when we were checked in and ended up ordering room service which was way over priced for that quality of food. Their French toast is not worth $18 and their hash browns are not worth $8 either. I don't mind paying more for something if it is worth it but that was definitely not worth it.
Our bathroom smelled of cigarette smoke and the window when we first arrived was stuck and left open while it was raining. We contacted the front desk to clean out the fridge and they never came. No one helped us with our luggage when we arrived and took our car to park with our bags in it. We had to wait for them to bring it back and grab our suitcases. There was a coffee pot in our room but no bottled water. We had to request it from the front desk. Most four star hotels have it available in the room for their guest and it is not one of those things you need to ask for unless you need more. I was not impressed with this hotel. To pay what you pay to stay here and have these issues does not make any kind of sense to me.
Over priced for underwhelming service. I would avoid this hotel in favor of an AirBnB.
