I am going into my 4th year with Midwest pool management and have really enjoyed my time with the company. The management team(field supervisors and district managers) are incredible. I couldn t have asked for a better first job. I ve gone to a number of different pools and met so many great people. The pools are all well run and as management we are taught well how to run the facilities and when we run into any issues the upper management is always there to help with the problems. Highly recommend this if you are looking for a good summer job or even a part time in the winter as they do have indoor pools as well.

This definitely is the best job I have ever been a part of and I highly enjoy working with my staff, also the office helps me with any problems I have come up at my facility. It s easy to move up in the rankings if you know how to do your job and put in the work. I highly recommend this job.
This company is the best to work for! Teens and adults a like are welcomed and praised for their hard work. Everyone is given a opportunity to learn and advance their skills. It is a welcoming work environment by workers and patrons alike. Further more it is nice to work with people who encourage your growth and the pursuit of your dreams!
This company is dedicated to satisfying your needs and constantly looking for improvements within themselves. Great team of higher ups that never leave a job undone.
I love working here and still do! Nothing has truly upset me to be honest. Sometimes the hours can get slower in the winter but that s to expect with a pool job anyways:) as of right now live the staff and the people in charge and the company itself!
There are a few good Lifeguards, Courtney and Heather is alsome, but like today there was one, that played in pool with her boyfriend all evening. 4 kids in pool. She was under the water alot .. took a hafe to 45.min break. Then came back out in the pool again. No problem with them cooling off. But not the place to hang out with boyfriends. And swim all day when working.Didn't ask to see pass last few people who came in to busy playing in pool.with friend. Pool 2 at Homefield
I have worked for MPM once when I was 15 and then this past summer. I didn t go back for 4 years due to the water park scene, not MPM. When I found a neighborhood pool I decided I d try it out again. The problem is that pay for being a guardian of life at a pool should be much higher than minimum wage. Minimum wage = minimum effort. Increase of wages will also help bring more people in. The main problem is the stress managers are under due to lack of staffing. If we gained more guards, pools would be cleaner and guards would be happier. On the other hand, 15 year old should not be able to do this job, at least not at neighborhood or one guard pools. There are too many things they cannot do. And on the other, too many young people come into this job thinking they re there to get a nice tan pool side, that they get paid to sit in the sun and relax. The title of the job is LIFEGUARD, if you want to apply to this company you can t come in thinking this will be some walk in the park. You have people s lives at stake every single day, and it s an honest and important job. If you re thinking about applying, I suggest you reevaluate your idea of what your job really is.
Have had an amazing experience working for MPM for 2 years. I ve worked at many pools and worked with many other employees. All of the MPM staff is very helpful and try their best to get around to all of their assigned pools to try and ease the managers and lifeguards stress. Things may be a little hectic for people who have never had a job like this before, but after experiencing the workplace for a while, you find your place and things become easier if you just show up and do your job. Overall, a great job for a wide range of people.
If you are looking to enhance your resume, learn skills that can assist in everyday situations, gain lifelong friends, etc. this is the job for you! There are so many opportunities to move up the ladder and gain even more valuable skill sets that can only benefit you. Great company!
Great place to work! There are tons of opportunities for young people to gain experience and learn skills for life. As District Manager I have the honor of working with hundreds of young people in their very early careers. Full time employees are really a family to each other and it is great to have a flexible schedule (within reason) as a person with a young family.
I have worked for Midwest for 7 years in the summer! They have been a huge support system and have challenged me in positive ways that I have carried on into my college education. I highly suggest a summer work experience with them as a lifeguard:)
I'm not hear to tell you how great MPM is or how horrible it is, because if I'm being honest, its not either of those by themselves. Like any company, there is drama, and like any company there are things that run very well and like they should. MPM has its ups and downs just like any other company, and for those who write terrible reviews about them isn't really fair. MPM really is a good company all around. MPM staff does their very best to keep things running the way they should be, and they do their best to make sure everyone is getting along and pools are running smoothly. If you ever run into a problem, you just ask the office staff and they're always wanting to help in whatever ways they can to help their pools become the best they can be. So as long as the guards are putting forth effort and really take their jobs seriously, MPM is a great company and a fairly easy job to maintain as a high school or collage student.
MPM is a fantastic rescource for an organization that I work for and I would reccomend doing business with them. Highly responsive, great lifeguards, and knowledge of aquatic facilities.
If you live in North County, and are looking for a summer job close to home, DO NOT work for Midwest Pool. They only do pool service for West County, South County, St. Charles, and Jefferson. The closest to North County they work in is Bridgeton. All that my trainer gave me was a 1 hour orientation at the HQ in Maryland Heights on basic pool watching guidelines and then 1 hour crash course at your assigned pool on basic cleaning procedures and how to sign in complex residents. The first time I was scheduled for training, my "trainer" left at 6:10 because I hadn't yet showed, even though the session was scheduled until 7. The supervisor I had was not very pleasant to be around, and was very unprofessional (had NO idea what the Staff Reference Manual was). None of the other executives care much about their employees (judging by the way they would speak to me, constantly interrupting); they are very ignorant of the fact that its very hot in St. Louis summers and will FIRE any employee who gets in the water during their shift, for any reason, whether its 70 or 110 out.
The pool I worked at ran just fine until this group came in and turned the place into an absolute sh*tshow. Would never recommend anyone to work for these clowns.
Midwest pool is a joke. The training cost $200 to be certified and the equipment that is used in the whole training process should not be that much. They don t even train you correctly, try Red Cross. The pay is horrible. They will not pay you the money you asked for even if they say OK to it. They will rip you off. The kids who want to be head guards or manager without any knowledge to equipment or proper usage. They yell at the kids for not knowing what pump is what or for not knowing what equipment is what . They throw kids who want to be head guards or manager without any knowledge to equipment or proper usage. They yell at the kids for not knowing what pump is what or for not knowing what equipment is what. They say call if you have any questions or if you are confused, but then they will talk behind your back saying how annoyed and frustrated they are with you. If we had the proper training and would not be an issue! They say call if you have any questions or if you are confused, but then they will talk behind your back saying how annoyed and frustrated they are with you. If we had the proper training it would not be an issue! You should also know that if you quit the company or if you were let go do NOT expect a email or a phone call to be returned to you anymore from that company. This was one of the worst companies I ve ever worked for and I m glad it was my time to leave. The yelling, the confusion, the stress, and anger that they would bring on to us was not good at all. If you can work somewhere better, please do.
amazing workplace, i worked here for two years and absolutely loved it. my general manager cared for all of us and my supervisor was top notch! i m so happy i got to experience MPM.
Midwest pool management is a great company. I was a resident of a pool they maintained and I was also an employee for several years. I can say without a doubt I would recommend this company to anyone needing their services. Everyone in the office is extremely hard working and take pride in their work. They always try to satisfy their customers. Great company in many ways!
Half decent summer job as a lifeguard. Before you offer yourself and/or apply, make sure you re surrounding yourself with sensible people. You want those above you to care if you get a break and have a reasonable schedule. My pool is understaffed 85% of the time, so expect everyday to be a little tough to get through. If you have a happy outlook, this job will be fun. If you re coming in expecting anything above par you probably won t like this job. Oh, and the lifeguard drama never stops.
I have worked with this company for 13 years - specifically with Crissy & Wayne. They have always been very responsive - everything handled immediately. In fact, when another pool company could not get a community pool opened in time for the holiday weekend, they stepped in with 2 day's notice & the pool was up & running & the residents were very appreciative. Their staff is always friendly & helpful. Repairs if needed are made in a timely manner. I would highly recommend them to anyone!
I liked lifeguarding matter of fact i loved it but not with this company, me and a buddy of mine got a job over in preston woods 63367, was not fun at all we had a staff roster of about 4 at the beginning of the year the training is a waist of time you show up you swim 1 lap and your done if i had to choose a company i would most definitely go with pro pool or unique pools oh and also don't let your supervisor show up drunk when there's a ambulance at your facility. danny voght- did not like dom herman- was the best dude ever bryan barrios mr big man
This is by far the worst company we have ever dealt with. They hire 15-16 year old managers on a power trip who do not respect homeowner rights. The lifeguards refuse to check for identification, do not stop dangerous horseplay and tend to follow their own rules. The training program at Midwest is obviously flawed, their management is not responsive and honestly I find this company unsafe and unfit for the services they provide. I caution any association to never even consider Midwest as it is dangerous for your public safety and a horrible mistake.
Midwest was great at the beginning just to impress the hoa or clients staffing a pool with all 15 year olds is a nightmare I loved working here until I had to go out of pocket to buy supplies for our pool I had to buy gloves and a first aid kit, they say they will pay you x amount an hour you ll get your check and it will say that and then the next check it will be 1 dollar lower and when a emergency happens at your pool better hope your supervisor does not show up drunk and stupid, (Danny Vogt). When I got fired they told my next employer how bad of a worker I was And that led me not getting my job anyways back In the day lifeguarding was cool now it s a entire joke with bs and drama
Training is a complete waste of time, all of 2 hours to show you how to do things and it wasn't even the right info. I got to my first shift, manager breifly (like in less than 30 seconds breif) went over what to do and went to go sit it the office for 2 hours. She never checked on me once. This is great for high school or college who don't know any better and need something to do over the summer.
I would just like to say that I have always enjoyed being a lifeguard, but this company has changed my mind. MidWest lacks in management skills and communication. I was let go with out even being told that I was fired. One day I was just taken off the schedule and marked as a no show. MidWest also struggles to even out their employees so many pools are understaffed. Understaffed pools followed unsanitary pools. The residents like to blame the lifeguard for the pool not being crystal clear, but some of us 16 year olds can t afford to drive out to the office which is 30 mins away to pick up cleaning supplies and pool chemicals, especially since some of us were doing manager positions but still only making lifeguard pay. If you want to ruin your summer and make $8 an hour this is the place to go.
Horrible management, scheduling nightmare! They ask your preferences, tell you that this is a part-time summer job but schedule you 12 hour shifts regularly. They will take advantage of you and could care less if you get a break or lunch. These guards are so hot and exhausted most days extremely overworked that I think Mid-West Pool Management should be investigated.

I'm glad to see a company that is always able to keep good communication with its employees. No matter the time of day, one can expect a quick timely positive response that puts you right back on track.
This was my first year working with MidWest at our neighborhood pool. We had a fabulous swim season thanks to the hard work from Jay and Bryan. They were available 24/7 to address any needs/concerns that we had with our pool. Our guards did a fabulous job under the guidance of MidWest. If a problem ever arose, it was addressed immediately. MidWest took care of us as if we were the only pool they were managing. Truly grateful and looking forward to another fabulous swim season in 2020 with MidWest!
If your Thinking about working here, TURN TAIL AND RUN, Here's why.... I worked here as a lifeguard for 2 years, Swim Instructor for 3. When I was first Hired onto the job (19 years of age) all I had to do was fill out an application and make sure I passed my lifeguard certification. There was no background check done, even though my job was primarily to work with kids, but I figured because most of the people who work as lifeguards are teenagers maybe there was no need to check. My opinion of the company went from okay to bad, within the first year of working here. Within my first year as a lifeguard, and the first instance where my EMPLOYEE RIGHTS were violated was when a child had thrown up in the pool, the management was to lazy to clean it up themselves, and wanted to save on time, so they put me into an unsafe situation, they had me put gloves on and get into a pool that had vomit all over it. I was then put straight back to work after cleaning up VOMIT from inside the pool. I was not even aloud a shower, but I was 19 and did not understand that they had violated my rights, at the end of my two years I went out for surgery, which to my surprise lasted a lot longer than it was suppose to, so I ended up leaving the company and was told once I recovered from my surgery that I could reapply, and they would gladly hire me back, having no money, and in need of a job, now being 21 years old, I reapplied. WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. Management had only been getting worse, but I needed the money, even if I was only making 50 dollars every two weeks, which is a load of crock by the way. So I stayed, within a month of being back at work. I watched someone else have their employee rights violated. DISCRIMINATION. We had a manager who was autistic, she was high functioning and ran swim lesson's she took her job seriously, but sometimes could not understand things on the first go, they took advantage of this woman. They would deliberately sabotage her to make her seem incompetent, belittle her in front of patrons, and just all out were unfair to her. Not at all how they treated other employees. They bullied her immensely, and TRUST ME SHE COMPLAINED TO UPPER MANAGEMENT, THEY JUST DID NOT CARE. Finally, she was pulled into a room where the assistant coordinator, and the pool supervisor. Forced her to give up her position as coordinator, even though she did nothing to really deserve being demoted, afterwards she was bullied so badly, that she ended leaving to go work at another pool. IF your wondering, they still make fun of her, AND SHE DOES NOT EVEN WORK AT THAT POOL ANYMORE. I've witnessed it. another thing that happened... Most of the 'managers' are 17-18 years so I don't think they quite understand what it means to keep your employees life secret. I have physical ailments, as I mentioned above about surgery. So at times I would have to sub as a swim instructor, instead of committing to a full schedule. (This is one of the only jobs that allowed me to do this, so I will give them props there, they were very helpful with people that had physical ailments and could not always uphold the physical means of the job. They would instead just have you slide attend, or sub for swim lessons.) I expected privacy on these matters, as I did not want my co-workers knowing why sometimes I would have to be in and out. However, every time I would come in to sub, they knew the exact reason I was gone, even when it came to a person going out to receive help for mental illness, YOU KNEW. Your personal life was everyone's business.
Anyway if you read all this and you still want to work for this company, all the power to you. oh, did I mention, I recently had to go out and just sub to do some PT for a month and my boss told everyone I quit? no, well that happened to. Even though there is a text message back and forth between us saying she approved of my subbing, but whatever. I'm glad to be done with this company, she saved me the trouble.
So yeah, if you don't mind discrimination, privacy, or workplace safety, good luck, and have fun.
