Many doctors have told me there was nothing to cure the coccyx pain that has plagued me since a fall six years ago. I have been in agony, and have lost a lot of the joy in my life. I was very down at the prospect of living like this for the rest of my life. Dr. Coleman has offered me hope, tho tempered with possible side affects. Surgery scheduled on August 13.
I had a complicated pilon fracture of my tibia and fibula in January 2018. It was determined that I needed a trauma surgeon to perform an ORIF surgery. Dr Joel Williams did several surgeries to get me back on my feet. He got me into a boot at 3 weeks so I could begin regaining range of motion in my ankle, even though I couldn't bear weight. I think this led to a much smoother recovery and faster progress in PT. Surgeons can sometimes be a bit arrogant or condescending - not this guy! He's very serious about his job, but doesn't talk down to patients or brush off concerns. Dr Williams is dedicated, focused, and clearly brilliant in the OR. He came to see me once at 9pm during a subsequent hospitalization - after a full day in the clinic and on his way to surgery - despite his residents rounding earlier that day. He listened to my concerns and got me on the surgical schedule the next morning. He really cares about his patients and getting them back to their normal activities in life. He takes the time to talk to you and address all concerns and questions you might have. He also has a wonderful team - PA Lauren and Administrative Assistant Xiomara both were amazing. If you go into the office to see him, there's a good chance you'll have to wait a bit. But if you want to see someone who's going to talk to you and address all your concerns, that can't be helped. If you want someone who runs right on time, expect to see someone that rushes you in and out the door. Dr. Williams is going to see every patient he needs to see on a given date. That means he'll probably be overbooked, and he may run behind, but he's a fantastic doctor, and it's well worth the wait. If I ever fold my ankle a full 180 degrees upwards again, you can bet the only surgeon touching it will be Dr Williams! :)
Amazing physician and staff for all aspects of surgery. Pre surgical assessment and consultation was provided in terms easily understood. Surgery and post op care assured my comfort. Pain management assured my comfort. Post op follow up assessed my recovery process and well being. After six weeks I have achieved full range of motion with much of my strength returning. Dr. Denis Nam is truly a gifted surgeon.
I have seen Dr. Bach for two separate shoulder injuries and felt that he listened and heard me and provided his expert opinion on my injuries. In both situations Dr. Bach did NOT default to surgery, rather he suggested non-surgical rehab and a follow up to reassess my symptoms.
Regarding responsiveness, I am very impressed with both Dr. Bach and John as they have always called me back within an hour or two. They will take their time to ensure I understand the answers to my questions and patiently answer any follow up questions.
The office is clean and efficiently run with minimal wait times after checking in. Overall, Midwest Orthopedics at Rush is an outstanding provider and I highly recommend them.
Dr. Holmes and his team are amazing. They take there time and turn over every stone to figure out what is going on. They are friendly, patient, an caring.
Have been very happy with professional services at MOR for many years. Great individual attention at all staff levels from diagnosticians to surgeons to valets and all in between. Everyone you meet is caring. Happily recommend it to friends and family.
Was taken for x-rays within a few minutes of arrival and seen by nursing, physician assistant and physician within a few minutes after that. Xrays and condition explained thoroughly and understandably. All staff from the reception at the front desk at check-in through the physician during the entire appointment process were professional, knowledgable, friendly, polite, thorough and efficient. This is my third orthopedic experience at Midwest and all treatments have been successful and with the same consistent experience. I would (and have) recommended Midwest Ortho at Rush to anyone who has mentioned orthopedic concerns to me.
I would highly recommend Dr. Kern Singh as a progressive caring Orthopedic Surgeon who takes his time in listening to his patient s concerns and becoming familiar his his patient s medical needs. He did not push surgery on me and encouraged me to take my time and think about it. After all my questions were answered from Dr. Singh and his staff I am confident my upcoming surgery will go well.
The best place to go for all your orthopedic needs. The doctors and staff is so caring pleasant and polite. If I ever need them again I'll definitely wouldn't think twice I give Midwest orthopedics an A+
Dr Colman is one of the best Doctors I have ever met he takes his time with you and explains everything so that you understand him I have had one surgery with him and I won't let anyone else in the world fix my spine
Dr. Colman is a first class person & a world class surgeon. Recently he & a great staff treated my back from years of abuse as a sports official. At the same time I'm battling stage 4 prostrate cancer. After a very indepth consultation he performed lower back surgery and gave me pain relief I havent felt for years. Lastly, after some bedside recovery conversation he hooked me up with a top oncologist at Rush. Doctor Colman, cant thank you enough !
Dr. Christopher Dewald in my opinion the best spine Dr. in the Midwest. He takes him time with you, cares about the individual, and gets to know his patients. Simply the best
Dr. Verma and his PA are incredibly professional and friendly. I had a shoulder injury and during my visits they explained everything very clear and in an understandable way. Dr. Verma recommended a conservative treatment instead a surgery and the recovery is going very well. I know Dr. Verma from a long time. He did arthroscopic surgery to my nephew about 12 years ago. Since then he hasn t have any problems with his knee. Dr. Virma will always be my doctor of choice. I am recommending him with no reservations.
Dr Bush-Joseph was kind and straightforward from the start. I was able to get in to see him much more quickly than other specialists, and scheduled surgery a matter of weeks out, instead of months. I felt totally secure in his care, and talking to his staff (his PA Travis is wonderful), My bicep surgery happened right on time, with no waiting around in pre-op, and I have recovered very quickly. With physical therapy, my shoulder is almost back to normal use after only three months.
Dr. Frank Phillips performed my spinal fusion in 2012. He performed a phenomenal surgery on my back and has gone above and beyond to help me. Dr April Fetzer has treated me with a steroid epidural and an anaesthetic procedure for pain. She helped me tremendously overcome extreme discomfort with one injection. I would not hesitate to recommend these two highly skilled and professional doctors and their staff and assistants.
This place is new, nice and efficient. Barely had to wait at all, got everything done within 30 min with Dr Blomgren. Maybe I'm the lucky one, sorry to hear others had bad experience
Dr. Holmes and his staff are so patience and understanding. They explained thoroughly what was wrong with my right ankle and what needed to be done to correct it. I recommend them very highly.
Dr. Fetzer is amazing. She s very compassionate, she makes sure I m involved in my caress well as being able to come up with various solutions while reassuring me to not give up
Dr. Cole's team runs like an efficient machine. post surgery has a helpful text based application sending you reminders, encouragement and videos of exercises to your phone. it may all seem rushed to you but that is how high performing teams operate. they are very responsive to emails
I went to Dr. Blank after 5 surgeries and osteomyelitis. Dissatisfied and frustrated with the previous surgeries & infection I was apprehensive. Almost immediately he put me at ease. I m amazed & so greatful that he saved my leg & life! He preformed 4 additional surgeries and instead of spending this year in a wheelchair I m able to walk again! Words can t express my graditude for him.
Dr.Tad Gerlinger and his staff and Associates and all the people at Rush Hospital top-notch quality a second to none facility I had a total knee reconstruction done by Dr gerlinger and he in my opinion is the best and I would recommend them to everybody that I can top quality Care God bless everybody at Rush Hospital and especially Dr Gerlinger
I'm a huge fan of Dr. Fetzer. I have neck and lower back issues and have had problems for over 10 years. She has given me the ability to live life by helping me cope with these issues each time they flare up. Each time I switch insurance companies, I always make sure that Dr. Fetzers office will take that insurance because I think that highly of her.
Dr Williams and his staff have the absolute best team I could ask for. Any questions I have were answered promptly, I had a thorough understanding of what to expect of my hip surgery before and after and always feel well cared for. I would choose them over and over again.
I have gotten extremely personal care at Rush. I appreciate that several physicians will work as a team and that non-invasive options like PRP are available. I have had the experience of a physician having another physician look over my MRI which resulted in better care. I choose Rush over other hospitals because of the expertise, options, and personal care.
Dr. Goldberg is an excellent surgeon. He is caring, kind and very understanding. He takes time to listen and explain things so that you understand him. He does not rush through his examination or explanations. If you're looking for a good doctor for your back or neck I recommend Dr. Goldberg.
Dr Sporer is the kindest person and doctor. His compassion is only exceeded by his abilities as a physician and surgeon! Thank you for all you have done for me. The best of the best.
Dr. Singh Kern did an amazing job on my laminectomy 6 years ago. I'm sure the technology is even greater now. The staff was amazing. I would refer anyone with back pain. *****
The staff and facility is just simply great,,and as for Dr John Fernandez, ,the guy is awesome, ,by far should be your only choice, ,I learned that after the fact ,,,he is the best,
Dr. Williams was the best orthopedic surgeon I have came across to. I came to him for a third opinion since I was told I would need A hip replacement. He is very knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable with the decision I went for he listens and answered all my questions. I truly Believe Dr. Williams cares, I now feel comfortable enough to say I found the right doctor for my surgery when that time comes.
Best experience I could ve hoped for. Anyone debating fixing a nagging, bothersome back issue should check out Dr. Phillips. Congenial, great bedside manner, and obviously amazingly intelligent. The accent doesn t hurt either! He did a great job on my ALIF @ L5/S1 (39 years old) and I felt relief immediately. Was so hesitant/anxious/scared, I almost didn t go through with it. But I m so very glad I was steered towards him and his team. Rush is the best hospital I ve ever been in. I d give more than 5 stars if I could!
Fast Service love that I was able to do everything in one place (x-rays ect) very professional and friendly environment both doctors were very attentive and friendly.
Dr. George Holmes and his PA Brittany were knowledgeable, extremely easy and pleasant to talk to, efficient and made for a smooth experience at Rush Ortho for visit to address avulsion fracture of distal fibula.
From very first appointment and meeting Dr. Holmes, I thought he was great, easy going and very attentive. His assistant also very very nice. I scheduled and appointment with Dr Holmes for 2nd opinion. I had 3 surgery s in 4 months with another Dr and my foot is worst off now than when I started . So I was very please with Dr Holmes when he knew what I was feeling and had answers for me. I definitely recommend Dr. Holmes . He will be my Dr going forward.
Great experience at Rush with Dr. Goldberg as my surgeon. My surgery and recovery went very smoothly. Katie was also extremely knowledgeable and helpful along to way to address questions. I couldn t be happier with my experience there, and it s so great to not have neck pain!
Dr. Cohen was great. After being pushed towards surgery by others, he walked me through in detail what my issue was and why there were better, more conservative treatments. If you have a hand/wrist issue I strongly recommend Dr Cohen and Midwest.
From parking checking in then going to x-rays then seeing the doctor they made it very simple and easy finally a doctor and staff that realizes that my time is also valuable . A very enjoyable experience.
I have seen so many orthopedic doctor's and other doctors trying to get help for my back. I drove over 2 hours to get to Midwest Ortho looking for help I then went for an MRI and then went back to see the actual doctor. I am so upset i just can not believe how this doctor treated me. He didn't care and made it clear to me. He then cut me off and insulted me. He passed me back off to physical therapy and chiropractors. I just couldn't believe that this doctor was so rude and insulted me just to pass me off back to what I was already trying. Please do not go here if you want to be treated like a person.
As a professional ballet dancer with the Joffrey Ballet and previous NCAA athlete, I am beyond impressed with Dr. Nho and his treatment of my injury. He is thorough, takes his time and really assesses the best possible solution. He is a kind person and extremely easy to get along with. You are in good hands with Dr. Nho.
Dr. Lin was great all the way around, in the way he explained the issues of my broken ankle (fibula) to how my surgery would be. The day of my surgery was also a great experience, right when I was out of surgery hevwent and spoke to my husband in a private room and gave him my update also checked with me and how I was doing!! Very pleasant doctor, thank you Dr. Lin..
The staff and doctors were very professional and informative they gave me all the information I needed about surgery which went very ,they gave great follow up and checked on my progress my recovery is going very well.
My first experience going to Midwest Orthopedic was horrific and killed two years of my life. Quite frankly, the Dr. seemed to be, an extremely vindictive, 70-year old, male doctor. He's no longer with Midwest, but learn from me, so you can speed-up your healing. I began seeing him while needing to use a cane & in constant 10 level pain, bed-ridden & in traction, unable to function through basic life activities & I stopped seeing him when I began to needing to walk with crutches & use a wheelchair. About my declining physical health he told me, "You'll have to learn to live with it." He offered me no options. I had to research my options on my own. Bad doctors refer to a patient who finds her own options as "engaged," and it sounds like this, "You're a very engaged patient." Being "engaged" means you scour medical journals for answers, & you scour physical therapy journals and physical therapy artcles & websites for solutions. In my situation, it was telling him (suggesting) about the need to do an EMG to see if the nerve signal was blocked or not....When you check-in, they ask you about where your pain is located. If it's in your pelvis (between your hip bones) and goes to your groin, that's hip pain, or, what I've learned, it might be pelvic floor pain, specifically the Obterator Internus, among other pelvic floor muscles. For that, you need to see a "physiatrist" at the uro-gynecologist or urologist. I did that & had to have pelvic floor physical therapy for 3 years. That first Dr., from above, by not caring about my well-being & by not taking the time to determine my ailment, contributed to my internal organs dropping, or "prolapsing." So having read Dr. Kathleen Weber's expertise, & because, when I began to walk again, (my right hip and leg became paralyzed), I still had hip pain (all your pain is connected & to heal, you need to act as an award-winning detective for you body), I then returned to Midwest to address my hip pain, & I chose Dr. Kathleen Weber. What a blessing she us!Unlike many other doctors, Dr. Weber does not only work based on so-called "clinical studies," but also based on your personal pain levels, mobility & functioning. You are truly blessed to be able to work w/her. B4 becoming a doctor, she was a nurse. She's remarkable. Just remarkable. She saved my ability to live independently. Scour, scour, scour to find your health answers.
We are longtime clients with MIdwest Orthopedics at Rush (MOR) and have used several different doctors in various specialty areas. Dr. Phillips and his staff are no exception to our previous experiences. He, like all the physicians at MOR, (including the fellows and physician assistants) is top notch; they all have excellent educational and experiential backgrounds paired with superb clinical care and surgical outcomes. The time spent with the patients is not rushed, and the physician, fellow, and/or physician assistant all listen well to the patient. Five stars for sure just for the people at MOR.
My only long-standing criticism (hence the four-star review) is the pre-appointment form process utilizing the iPads---it is unnecessarily protracted with too many forms and too many duplicative questions. While I can appreciate the need for rigorous data collection and analysis from patients, the electronic form procedures need to be revised to be much, muck shorter (maybe two forms such as patient health and history as well as current problem(s)?). The current process creates a bottleneck experience in the waiting area and is a personally frustrating experience that I always find irksome. Please revise ASAP.
Dr Lee is outstanding! I've had several issues with my feet he's come up with great solutions to help me. He doesn't push surgery as the only solution to your problem. Gives you all the options you can try and the decision is yours. Great chair-side manner, I rely on him to keep me on my feet.
She was extremely knowledgeable. She understood that as with all who come to see her, there is an element of fear. She was objective and wanted to be certain of my existing condition prior to recommending a course therapy. She was not arrogant nor dismissive. Not only what I recommend her but last night I recommended a close friend to her. I wish all doctors that her knowledge and sensitivity. A wonderful human being she is.
I m a new patient and I have been to other Orthopedic Doctors and Hospitals But the level of attention and professionalism I received from Dr. Gerlinger and the staff here is above what i could of ever expected. They make you feel at ease and explain everything thoroughly to make sure your comfortable. I would highly recommend Rush Orthepedics and Dr Gerlinger to anyone looking for the best Care and facilities.
Dr Colman was focused, compassionate, listened intently, and formed a plan of care with me to go forward. I am confident that we will work together to solve / or resolve the pain issues that plague my spine.
Visited for extreme shoulder pain that I ve had for a little over two months after a workout session, so naturally I thought my rotator cuff was ripped to shreds. The visit was good turned out to be inflammation which is being treated and already feeling better.
My husband had a knee replacement and the experience was awesome. The Dr. Denis Nam was very professional and his assistant and staff in the Rush hospital also. My husband did not have complications and he is thinking to replace his other knee and definitely will be with the Dr. Denis Num . I recommend him highly.
I appreciate the time taken in consultation to explain the condition and solution. Reasoning was explained for course of action. I feel like I have a clear understanding of what to expect. Pre-op, I feel optimistic.
I have come to truly appreciate the superb care given by Dr Coleman and his Team, His medical knowledge and great advice is helping me to recover steadily from the point I was before I was under his care. I am grateful to have been a patient of Dr Coleman and I say Thanks a million..
I was bone on bone with my left hip. When I met Dr. Della Valle, it was at the start of the pandemic over telehealth. I explained to him that I wanted to be able to continue running triathlons and complete a full Ironman event. I had done a lot of research and knew that I needed a hip resurfacing instead of a THR to allow me the best shot at my goals. I selected Dr. Della Valle because he performed the hip resurfacing and he had stellar reviews everywhere I looked. I was scheduled for the operation on May 1, 2020, but when they opened up the restrictions on COVID-19, he offered to take me earlier and I accepted. I walked out of the surgery same day with less pain than when I walked in. I took 1 pain pill the first night and stopped cold turkey. Dr. Della Valle was a consummate professional and did a fantastic job of explaining the surgery. His staff was wonderful. I wouldn t go anywhere else for this type of procedure.
From my first visit; I am truly happy with the way I've been treated. How my condition was explained by Dr. Nickerson and Dr. Blomgren. The best way to address the problem and all the help needed to move the issue along. I would recommend this area /staff of the hospital to everyone I come in contact with the same problem. Thank you in advance.
I went to see Dr. Cheng because of horrific sciatica I was having down my left side. After a month sciatica gone and have started physical therapy. I need full knee replacement too, but the surgeon would not schedule surgery until my sciatica had cleared up. I could not get into see the surgeon until the end of November, and that is just for the conciltation. Dr. Cheng called on my behalf and I was able to move that appointment up a whole month earlier! Thank you Dr. Cheng for caring and go the distance for one of your patients!
My Achilles tendon tore completely on August 25, 2017 I had surgery on Sept. 8, 2017! Rush got me scheduled for surgery very quickly. DR. SIMON LEE was very attentive and professional! Dr. Lee did a great job on repairing my Achilles! The surgery scar on the back on my lower leg is only 3 inches long and has healed very well! Just 4 months after the surgery on Jan. 2, 2018, I was back in the gym doing Crossfit! I m not 100%! I have to modify my workout a little. For example, I do step ups instead of box jumps. I do single jump rope instead of double-unders. My jumping ability is getting better and my legs are getting stronger! I can still keep up. I m healing very well. There is still very little swelling and soreness after workouts... nothing major! I m happy to say I definitely would recommend Rush Midwest Orthopedic to everyone with an injury that requires treatment by an orthopedic! The service was phenomenal. I was well taken care of. Thank you for getting back to my regular routine in record time!
My experience at Rush to see Dr Hamid went very well. The doctor accepted me and offered a willigness to assist me with the specialized surgery I am requesting. Thank you sincerely Dr Hamid for your assistance.
Addressed all of my concerns graciously and they were many. I know where I stand with my hip, ha ha, and what I must do to keep mobile. When I have my hip replacement, I have confidence in the Midwest doctors and those who work for Rush that I will receive the best care. I am lucky.
Dr. Hamid knows his craft. After breaking my ankle in 3 places and undergoing surgery with Dr. Hamid, that's apparent. What makes Dr. Hamid special though is not only his prowess as a doctor, but his ability to provide comfort and confidence to his patients at a time when both are in short supply (at least were for me). Would absolutely recommend Dr. Hamid to anyone looking for a world - class orthopedic surgeon.
After seeing 2 doctors , these are the first people who actually listen to me and not rush the visit . They make me feel confident I am in the right hands
Dr. Joshua has a very good office-side manner. As a physician myself, and an instructor of medical students and residents in training, Dr. Blomgren would have been one of my favorite residents to train, if I had been his instructor. And now a days with the way that healthcare is headed, everyone but the physician calls the shots. The burden of craming patients in and following the dictates of the insurance companies and CMS and EHR documentation, it s nice to have a physician who actually talks to you and looks at you instead of a screen or the physician extenders, residents and medical students in the exam room. Plus he knows his stuff.
I should have picked Dr. Cole to begin with... Lesson learned. At first, he seemed a bit abrasive and I waited over 2 hours past my appt. just to be seen (which got things off on the wrong foot) -but keep reading, because he's worth the wait.
This is my eighth knee surgery, and it's already the best. I have four incisions: 2 for tools (only one suture each), one that's 6", and another that's 2"... and neither of those had sutures. It's my most perfect closure, ever. Now, if that isn't enough... he has his own team of rockstars; does TedTalks because he's really that good at what he does, constantly training others and learning new techniques, and once you get to know him a little better you'll realize that he's not abrasive, but incredibly confident. And that confidence is why he's #3 in the nation in his field of advanced orthopedics and will give you your best surgery/recovery to date. Did I mention that his patients are always put first?
If you're still questioning whether to go to him because of the wait time, how long it'll take to get an appointment, or the limited time you'll spend with him... Stop it. I'm 2 months post-op and I can already do a lot more than I usually can at this stage -and that's with having a lot more done in this surgery than all of my past ones.
I feel incredibly lucky to be able to say that Dr. Cole is MY surgeon... and you should be, too (if he's still taking patients, that is).
I came in with my ankle totally broken in several places. My 1st consult with Dr. Hamid & his team was wonderful. Dr. Hamid & his team has the best beside manner. They treat like you are family. During & after surgery my family was well informed & knew just how to take care of me @ home.. I sincerely loved every moment of this experience and having Dr. Hamid was heaven sent. Dr. Hamid has really trained his team well it speaks volume.. I hope that God blesses each and every one of them because they make patients feel at ease through the entire process. Thank you so much Dr. Hamid & your team for all you do.
I am a Graduate of Presbyterian St Luke s School of Nursing 1967Fall. My career choice after graduation was to work in the PSLH Hospital Cardiovascular Surgical Recovery Unit. My job was to support, educate, and care for the patients & their families, monitoring and reporting all to the surgeons and clinical staff involved. Caring for one post operative cardiac surgical patient meant we stood at the bedside for a minimum of 8 hours every shift....we almost always had a few breaks though!
I knew someday I d need surgical intervention to replace both of my knees after trying braces, lots of tylenol, and injections. As I approached retirement, my need for knee replacement surgery was inevitable. After meeting Dr. Sporer the first time I knew I would have the best clinical expertise, and therefore the best outcome at Midwest Orthopedics at RUSH! I m very, very happy that today and for the future I m raring to go! Thanks Dr.Sporer and all of you for making it happen!
