After 4 appts. with surgeons in Imdiana, where i live, I decided to come to Rush, to meet Dr. Brett Levine. Best decision ive made all year! An amazing doctor! The difference is Night vs. Day! Clarity, confidence, an interest in what the patient has to say - I'm stunned. Dr. Levine has an excellent Asst in the person of Emily S., Nurse Practitioner. Driving 2 hours each way? Totally worth it!

I had a bad experience with a physician and his office here in south FL. So coming up to Chicago I had very high expectations that the visit with Dr Lee would be better. I was NOT disappointed as from the moment I got off the elevator to the follow ups with the PA s were fantastic. While I am nervous about my upcoming surgery, deep down I know I am in great hands.

Very good and organized front desk with professional personnel - they requested to have all the paperwork completed online ahead of my appointment which made the office visit quite quick. In and out in no time!

Great staff that explains all options throughly.

Rush review - Dr Gerlinger

Rush review - Dr Gerlinger

I felt that Dr. Gerlinger at Rush gave me an honest no noncence diagnoses to an extreemly complex problem that I am faceing involving recalled metal on metal Smith & Nephew cobalt hip implants. I had A bilateral hip replacement in 2008, and the results were quite good on one side which was a total hip, and not so good on the other side which was a resurfaced Hip. Because the hip implants were metal on metal I ended up with toxic cobalt levels, and loads of pain, indeed cripplling pain. I tryed my best to Research my situation, and the most frequent thing to come up was a plan designed by an attorney from one firm or another involving A total hip revision, followed up by a lawsuit. I had all the systemic symptoms of cobalt poisoning, hypothyroidism, depression, loss of lucidity, and pain that was so unbearable It has me living a Sedentary lifestyle with a full blown disability. Over time my cobalt levels went down below what is considered Toxic, Mainly in my opinion because I could no longer move my hips and therefore there was no grinding to cause metal ions in fragments in my blood
What impressed me the most about my experiance is that the Dr. Gerlinger addressed the primary reason for my being there which always from the start was the pain which was stopping my life. He was the first doctor, & I had seen many, to address my Sciatic nerve being inCompassed by bone mass as being the sorce of my pain, & not The hip appliance itself. For the first time in yesrs I felt like a doctor pinpointed the cause of my intence pain.
Even though the the opporation required to address my problem was a complicated & indeed dangerous procedure, it was liberating knowing what the problem was .
In summery I was very impressed with Midwest orthopedics at Rush, and pray that they will assist me in the process and surgery required to free up my sciatic nerve, rather than doing what other doctors and lawyers focused on which was a total hip revision procedure . I wanted out of pain, & without makeing any lofty promissrs they explained the risks involved & the potential benefits To removing The ossification, or acquired bone mass around the implanted hip joint & freeing up the sciatic nerve rather than doing a total hip revision surgery .
Trust is essential when you are putting your life in someone s hands, and because of his honest approach, and unique ideas I feel compleetly comfortable moving forward with Dr. Gerlinger & this very fine group.

Dr Colman is one of the amazing doctor I have ever seen and I can honestly tell you with my personal experience how passionate, caring, trustworthy and experienced he is, been his patient from 2017 with my ongoing issues of neck and lower back after being in a car accident. With his best caring team members at Rush Ortho.

My doctor at this time is Julia Bruene. She is very professional, personable, and talented. Dr. Julia takes time to answer all my questions and either her assistant Vickie or Ashley get back to me within an acceptable time frame when I call. Dr. Bruene s treatment recommendations for my knees have been spot on and reflect current practices. Knee replacement may be in my future and I will feel very confident in the surgeon she recommends.

Dr. Lee and the entire staff were spectacular! I ve seen two other foot doctors prior to seeing Dr. Lee and I am so thankful I came to Rush. Dr. Lee took his time and fully examined my foot and spoke in terms I could understand. Everyone was very pleasant and I felt I finally got the professional analysis and treatment I was seeking. If you have any type of foot and/or ankle issue, go to Rush University Hospital and see Dr. Lee.

JoAnna Barr, Assistant to Dr. Matthew Colman, went way beyond the call of duty! Unfortunately for my husband and I we were having an extreme amount of difficulty with other departments and she stepped in and saved the day, week, year! Thank you Dr. Colman and THANK YOU JoAnna for really being there for your patient's well-being. I know the medical profession is a very difficult one to be in right now, and I just want to share a VERY happy review. Thanks again JoAnna!!!

Met with Jamie & was very impressed with his explanation of problem & treatment. He gave me a recommendation for therapy & showed me the muscle that needs to be strengthened. The resident also gave info about my problem & a shot that has made the pain lessen dramatically. Very positive experience.

I really like going to Rush Midwest Orthopaedics. I had Ankle and knee surgery by them and all of the doctor's who took care of me where great and they really take care of my medical problems .
I had back surgery in 2016 and Dr. Matthew Colman was the doctor who did my surgery, and is a fantastic back surgeon and really fixed my back . I would recommend him to anyone who may have back trouble and need surgery.

Thank you Dr. Matthew Colman

Everyone at MOR was very friendly and accommodatin...

Everyone at MOR was very friendly and accommodating from my first visit. I had seen many doctors and tried every possible non-surgical treatment, and had been told by another ortho that my condition wasn't "bad enough" for surgery. Dr. An and his team (including Jackie, his awesome nurse) really listened and reviewed my situation. When he said he could help me, I was so relieved I started to cry. I've been living with back pain for over 15 years, and I finally felt like I was going to find relief.
After my surgery, the team at Rush was amazing. They made my 3 day stay at the hospital as comfortable as possible. The nurses (notably Eric & Colleen) & CNAs were all kind & compassionate. While I'm technically still recovering from surgery, it was a success by all measures so far. I finally feel optimistic about my future and ability to get back to doing the things I really want to do, and living without daily pain.
Thank you to Dr. An, Jackie, and the team at MOR and the hospital staff!!! I believe I had the best possible experience in my situation, and I will be forever grateful.

I went to Dr Hamid after having poor results with two other surgeons. He and his team were always timely, pleasant and efficient. I am one week post operative right now, and the pain I was experiencing for the last 2 years has reduced significantly already! Would highly recommend Dr Hamid and his entire team!

I felt really silly at first because I came in for minor shoulder pain when everyone in the waiting room was clearly levels above me. I was first seen by Charlie (in residency?) and he was very nice and knowledgeable and did my run down. Dr. Verma then came in and got straight to the point (which i like) and diagnosed me right away. He gave me an action plan and scenerios if PT doesn t work. I ve had this minor shoulder pain for years and thought it was from sleeping wrong. He set me up with phycial therapy and I m starting to feel so much better!

Very easy to schedule your appointments, the patient coordinators are attentive and respectful of your time. I was going to AMITA Hinsdale Hospital but Dr Cohen s office will definitely be my place to go.

Dr Williams performed a major surgery on my 15 year old daughter. It has been 7 months since surgery and she is doing great. We went in for a check up and to speak about the additional surgery that she was originally supposed to have. After speaking with my daughter Dr. Williams felt that she did not need the surgery at this particular time. I obviously thought that he was a great doctor prior to this but after he said this I knew that I had chosen the right man to take care of her. He has earned every single ounce of respect that I have. For a surgeon to tell you that he would not recommend surgery right now, when this is what they do and what they are paid to do, wow that just showed me that he cares more about the patient than just operating on someone.

I m sure she will have to have the surgery one day but as of now we are flying high that she is able to put this off until a later time in her life. He is definitely the man for the job. Also his PA Jessica is fantastic too.

Very professional! I was in a lot of pain for months waiting to get in to see a specialist and Dr. Fernandez office helped expedite my office visit. Dr. Fernandez repaired my bicep when I was working approximately 10 years ago.
I trust his staff as well to take care of my recent problems.

I met Dr. DeWald yesterday to discuss my scoliosis and surgery. He is so kind, very easy to talk to, and takes time to go over everything with you, and he listens! My husband and I felt very comfortable around him and he even took time to show me examples of before and after pictures. We are very impressed with his work and highly recommend him! The whole place was run very efficiently and timely and everyone is nice.

I think Scott Sporer is a wonderful doctor. Even though he is a very busy doctor, he still makes time to see you and explains the situation. The technique he uses for joint replacement is far superior when compared to other doctors.

Midwest Orthopedic at Rush is without question one of , if not the best Orthopedic groups in country

Dr Arron Rosenberg and his staff have been amazing thru every step ..from the initial diagnosis , to clearly explaining my options for treatment/ surgery , day of surgery , days after surgery , recommending the right PT and each of my follow up visits

being that I had a labral tear in my hip and gone through a long and painful journey with very little help from another Dr. that I was seeing I was getting discouraged because surgery was definitely needed and nothing was being done, until I walked into Dr. Noe s office and from beginning to end i was treated great, everyone was very pleasant, the office is extremely clean, very professional and Dr. Knoe knew with his knowledge and experience exactly what was needed and even though I haven t had my surgery yet .... I do however have a surgery date and feel good that I ll be in great hands come that day!!!

As much as medical care can be a pleasant experience, my expectations were exceeded. And that was with knowing what to expect as my wife has the same procedure 4 years ago. I'm very happy with the results to date and appreciate all the staff.

Dr Hamid was kind, considerate and took time to carefully listen to my concerns. He was very professional and recommend steps that seem very logical and reasonable. He seems to be a very nice person.

Dr. Lee performed a triple fusion on my left ankle. He worked for 4 and half hours putting it back together. The results were amazing! 11 months later what was a badly disfigured foot and ankle, that I could barely walk on, now looks and functions like nothing was ever wrong with it! Dr. Lee done an amazing job! There's a reason Midwest Orthopedics at Rush carries a five star rating. Go there, it's worth the trip.

Dr. Verma was referred to me by an anesthesiologist friend for my knee surgery. I had previously gone to Northwestern and was not happy with the different knee surgeons I met with there. Dr. Verma was what anyone would hope for from a surgeon. He is a very good listener, was very patient, and answered all of my questions. He was incredibly thorough when telling me about long term recovery. I would, and will, 100% recommend him to anyone with knee issues.

Dr Robert Wysocki and his team are the best Drs in the city. Last year I was diagnosed with kienbock s disease on my left arm. He took the time to explain me and told me what was the treatment available. I have two months since I had the surgery and I am feeling much better. I truly recommend him...

Dr. Gregory Nicholson is the best at what he does! This is the second shoulder I have had replaced by him. My first shoulder (done 6 years ago) works great with hardly any scar. He is direct, no nonsense doctor but very kind. I hate surgery but since it was a necessity for me, I am so glad that he s my doctor.

On July 26th I had surgery to repair a massive tear to my rotator. Given the pain I was in and the limited range of motion prior to surgery my expectations were not the best. Dr. Verma and his team were consummate professionals. It has been 4 months since my surgery and my strength and range of motion have far exceeded what I thought possible given the extent of my injury. I feel that I will make a full recovery and I couldn t be happier. One suggestion I will make to anyone having this procedure is to use the BREG ice machine. I experienced absolutely no pain by using it for the first week.

Dr Nam and his staff did a incredible job. I had a total knee replacement in my right knee November 22nd. . The surgery itself only took one hour. Geez, it takes the dentist 30 minutes to clean my teeth! The amount of pain that I was expecting, compared to what I actually experienced was minimal. In less than two weeks I was able to walk unassisted within my house. Less than three weeks I was driving and waking around at Home Depot. I can t tell you how pleased I am to have Dr Nam as my surgeon.

BTW- Today was exactly three weeks to the day since I had my surgery. This afternoon I was able to paint my kids bathroom ceiling on a small step stool. Hopefully Dr Nam won t read this!!!

I goto Midwest Orthopedics for all
My ortho needs. I feel they are the best in the business. Dr. Bruene was very pleasant and I really liked her. She was more than willing To explain anything I asked and I ask a lot of questions! She seemed very knowledgeable in her field. I m sure she has seen a million people with back pain but she made
Me feel like I was the only. She genuinely cares to help. I would highly recommend her!

It is difficult to fine a surgeon that you can feel comfortable with. It is important to be able to comfortably ask questions and have them answered. Dr. Nam met these expectations. I immediately felt at ease.

Met with Dr Matt Colman to review my options for a bulging disc in the cervical area. He patiently listened to my concerns regarding a possible surgery. He gave detailed explanations for various options and used my MRI images to supplement our discussion.
I was well informed and never felt there was a limit to the time of our appointment. His approach was relaxed, accessible, comfortable, understanding and understandable.

My experience with Midwest Orthopedics was a beaut...

My experience with Midwest Orthopedics was a beautiful experiences; I would say one (1) of the best I have has in the 76 years of my life. Starting with the initial conversation with Elise a young lady Dr. Rosenberg office(don't know her position). She was very professional, helpful and at same time extremely friendly. I found the clerk at the registration desk; was very patience, also helpful and punctual. The young student doctor who accompanied Dr. Rosenberg was gentile during his examination of my knee and very professional also . Dr. Rosenberg was extremely informative; he was very knowledgeable of my condition. I would like to think him for taking the time I needed to understand the condition of my knee. He not told me how it was damaged; he took the time to show me were the damage area was. He understood my pain. I say thank God for good doctors like Dr. Rosenberg. However Elise impressed me the most; she made it point to look me up and introduced herself to me and to seek additional care for me. Mary Tibbs

I like both my Doctors At midwest Orthapedics at Rush. They are great Doctors with excellent credentials and really helped me. However, the billing department is horrible. I was paying my bill off monthly and only had a few months of payments left and they sent my bill to collections without even notifying me. I received a letter in the mail that I was in collections. I have excellent credit and not sure what they were trying to prove by sending me to collections. I DO NOT RECOMMEND MIDWEST Orthapedics At RUSH. The Doctors are great but the business end is horrible. Find another place to go. Northwestern, Loyola and University of Chicago are just as good or even better.

Dr. Fernandez is wonderful. Fantastic first impression and straight to the point, which I love. I was warned initially that the Ortho doctors may not come off with the warmest beside manner. Honestly, not only was that not my experience, but I'm fine with someone not babying me along if they're going to be as efficient and spot on as Dr. Fernandez. One of the top three Doctors I've met my entire life.

I had a very painful hip condition and saw three hip and back specialists (Northwestern + a sketchy Orthopod at a practice in Hinsdale). I was scheduled for hip surgery with another doctor, but I then heard Dr. Nho was best in the state and went to get another opinion. He was the first doctor to assess me correctly, and directed me to a back surgeon who was able to identify and address the real underlying problem, without surgery. Shane Nho is respectful, kind, and very smart. I would recommend him to anyone! Northwest Orthopedics is affiliated with Rush but does take Blue Cross PPO, I can speak to that. Rush Orthopedics is a treat. Everyone there is upbeat, friendly, and really wants to help you. These people like their jobs. They have phone charging stations in the waiting area, lots of windows with bright light, and it is a busy and cheery space. I ve only had good experiences there. They care for the Joffrey ballet, and I can see why.

Dr. Hamid is absolutely fantastic! I heard great things about Dr. H. before going into my appointment, and he far exceeded my expectations! Dr. Hamid listened to my concerns, answered every question and even talked a little music with me! His bedside manner couldn t have been better and he made me super comfortable before going into surgery. I would highly recommend Dr. Hamid and his entire staff!

My experience at Midwest Orthopaedics was exceptional. From the start to the end. It's a very nice modern facility. The front office staff were friendly and efficient. I waited a very short time to get my x-rays. The Tech was also friendly and professional. Then off to see Dr. Rosenberg. Again I waited a short time before his Fellow came in to review my x-rays with me. He told me what he saw and then Dr. Rosenberg came in. He discussed the findings with me and my treatment options. He described everything in detail and in a way I could understand. He answered all my questions and then he decided on a course of action. I had a 7:30 AM appointment and with all that I was out in a little over an hour. Both Docs were friendly and very knowledgeable and made me feel at ease. You can tell when a physician really cares about his or her patients well being. Dr. Rosenberg is one such Physician.

Dr. Yanke is the best. He listens to my concerns about my health and gives me a great assessment of necessary treatment. I went in for excruciating pain in my left knee barely could stand on it. But when he gave me the injection after a few hours it felt so much better. Rush is my primary hospital with great doctors and support staff. Thanks Dr. Yanke... Tracey Hendrix

First, I'd like to say that Midwest Orthopedics is a fantastic orthopedics center. Before my mother got her knee replacements, my sister and I did lots of research and looked at many hospitals and surgeons. Upon our initial appointment with Brett Levine, we knew he was the right person for the job. He and his staff were attentive, answered all of our questions, and followed up on multiple occasions upon her surgeries. My mother got her first knee replacement in January and within 6 weeks of her surgery, I noticed a huge difference in her walking. Before her first knee replacement, she could hardly walk and getting up from a chair was very difficult. 6 weeks ago today, my mother had her second knee replacement and is doing Great! I haven't seen my mother walk as fast as she does since she was in her 40's. Many Thanks to Dr. Levine and his wonderful staff!!

My experience with Dr Gerlinger was very negative....

My experience with Dr Gerlinger was very negative. He was very brief and dismissive. He stated my case was too complicated and he preferred brief one day surgeries. He offered no information or opinion regarding my knee and after about 2 minutes he walked out saying Done. It was extremely disappointing as I was seeking information and a second opinion. He was disinterested and unwilling to spend any time discussing my knee surgery. It was a waste of my time, effort and money. I found him to be very unprofessional.

Dr. Weber is an outstanding diagnostician who spots the cause of a problem and recommends on target solutions. Surgery is a last choice but a realistic one when other options fail. She has treated my husband and me for about 10 years, using her exceptional medical knowledge and a thoughtful, caring manner. Five stars, easily.

Dr DelleValle has done a hip replacement in 2016 and partial knee replacement recently. Both went smoothly because he explained the procedure and discussed options and complications. He provided me with the confidence I needed before proceeding with the surgery. Preparing for surgery included a detailed class taught by his staff and he followed up after the surgery to insure you were healing without complications and to encourage that you were making progress toward full functioning of the joint. I love the option of having the surgery as an out patient and also being able to schedule appointments at the Munster location.

I recently saw Dr. Cheng. He looked at a computer like most doctors do these days, but he doesn't look at the computer when he is with you, the patient. He looked and talked to me, not a computer screen. I appreciate that these days. He listened carefully and answered my questions. I recommend him if you have osteoarthritis issues.

Dr Goldberg is really fantastic, I ve been a patient of his for over 25 years. He takes his time to explain things to you in a language you can understand, and does not try to push you into a procedure you don t need. He is also a very nice and compassionate Dr unlike so many others out there. I highly recommend Dr Edward Goldberg with 100% confidence.

Dr. FERNANDEZ REVIEW:

Dr. FERNANDEZ REVIEW:

Not sure what to think of my experience with Dr. Fernandez.

Waiting Room:
As soon as I arrived it was clear that this is not your run of the mill medical center. There must have been 300+ patients on the floor waiting to see a doctor of some sort.

The receptionist was polite enough, but I couldn't help but feeling like a small cog in a large assembly line...!

I had some issues with my insurance card and it was immediately apparent to me that she had absolutely no time to assist, and I was going to have to solve the issue on my own. During the 45 minutes that I was in the waiting room she must have checked in like 7 or 8 different people.

Well I stuck it out because I thought it may be just a sign of the quality care provided.

X-ray:

This took another 20 minutes after having waited 45 minutes to be checked in. The procedure itself was quick and straightforward.

Physician assistant:

The PA was nice and attentive of the in depth description of my symptoms. I felt she did a very thorough analysis of what was bothering me.

Physician:

I guess the PA set the bar high, but I felt Dr Fernandez was very quick to diagnose. He didn't even ask questions, or evaluate the PA's work himself. The diagnosis was SNAC, and the only procedure to correct it was going to be shaving a bone, or fusing the other bones together! I asked if there was something I could do to ease the strain and the look on his face and his response gave a glimpse of what happens a lot at his office. 'Nope no other treatment, or option'. My confusion must have been evident because he then asked the PA what she thought.

PA:'Well I think it is a little too soon to diagnose, until I see a CT scan'.

For me this last interaction said a lot about my experience here. The incentive for the physician is always doing surgery, so in this assembly line, the physician pushes patients as quickly as possible to surgery without a rigorous analysis of the condition.

My experience here was more than a little disconcerting. Maybe others will feel differently.

******
Update: I specifically paid to receive my x-ray results in the mail, and I am still waiting on them 5 months later. Very dissapointing.

Doctor Coleman, his staff and the surgical pre-authorization teams were phenomenal. Everyone was incredibly polite, well organized and truly showed an emphasis on my well being. Got an appointment 6-8 weeks quicker than anyone else and set aggressive goals for my treatment and recovery. Will recommend to anyone requiring spine/disc related orthopedics.
