Late last night, I realized that my A/C was making...
Late last night, I realized that my A/C was making a strange noise when the interior unit would shut off. When I walked past our induction vent, where the filter was, I could feel cold air coming out. I knew something was wrong since that's not supposed to happen. I quickly went outside to where the outside unit was. Strangely, the fan was still running even though at this point, the interior unit had been off for a few minutes. After about an half hour of seeing if I could diagnose the issue, I decided to shut off breaker to the ac unit and look for an ac repair company in the morning.
Morning comes. I'm searching for a repair company but there are a ton in St. Pete. I wasnt sure who to go with but after glancing at my thermostat, I noticed that it was about 83 degrees inside. On the corner of the thermostat, I saw Midway services and their number. I decided to call them and was told that someone would call me back before close today. About 5 minutes later, a dispatcher called me back and said that Mike would be stopping by my home in the next hour.
About 30 minutes later, Mike arrived. Very nice guy. I could tell that he was a hard worker but the thing I noticed with techs in general is, they may have the ability to fix the problem but they usually spend a long time diagnosing the problem and then spend more time being a sales person. I personally work in sales. I HATE sales people in general because I dont want to be sold to. Instead, help educate me. Tell me what you can offer and how it enriches my life.
Anyhow, Mike and I walked over to the outside unit and I told him what the problem was. He listened. Because he was listening, he was able to diagnose the issue in less than a minute. He then explained what broke which was the relay contact controller. In Florida, those things can wear down. Ours was about 10 years old. Mike was able to get me a price on the unit, was able to install it and get my ac up and running in less than an hour.
As I just mentioned, my ac unit is 10 years old. I'll be in need of a new efficient ac unit soon and because of the service I recieved today, I'll be contacting Midway. Thank you!!
