Really nice. It took us almost 4 hours to go through it all, which is a great and detailed museum without going through the additional exhibits.

You need an easy 2 hours to go through the levels and both buildings.

Love it. I've been a member since moving to Houston in mid-2008 and have seen some incredible exhibitions. They have some good deals like discounts in the shop for members, as well as discounted parking and cheaper movie tickets. Worth regular visits to discover both the standing exhibition as well as the special displays. Membership is well worth the money.

I loved it! My first time ever here. I found it interesting that they had reproduction pieces but I was glad to see they actually had some original work to enjoy.
I like the fact that you can have those little things to tell you about the art works but geez! Too much taking for me....slow at that. I tried using the thing but I enjoyed reading the information provided instead.
I saw many people taking pictures! I was too busy enjoying the art to take a picture of the art.

Excellent museum. It's huge, and has an excellent selection of art from a wide array of schools and eras. The rotating exhibits are often top notch, as well.

We've got an annual membership, which is really reasonable if you go just a few times over the course of the year. But, there are also many ways to get in free, just poke around on the website and see if any apply to you.

World class museum. We visited it at the same time as a remarkable temporary exhibition Rohtko. We did not expect to find in Houston such a beautiful and rich collection, beautifully presented. The MFAH is worth the trip!

The museum has quite a few interesting pieces to see, but I didn't quite feel it was worth the price. I strongly advise going on a Thursday when it's free. There also were nowhere as many things to see as I had thought there would be.

The museum is very large and has multiple exhibits covering every genre. The only reason I took one star away is because it isn't very wheelchair accessible. The entrance to one of the buildings has stairs just inside and the solution is to go to the other building and use the elevator to cross over. But as far as the art, this place is beautiful.

Great

This is a huge museum and I like that they do let people in for free on Thursday. They bring in shows from different artists and eras frequently. I don't know that you can find another museum that has a wider variety of work and collections to view outside of going to the Smithsonian museums. The staff here makes sure you can find your way around and if you engage with the security folks, they are very informative. This place has a huge collection of work that is constantly rotating. Some very well known artist's work hang in these halls. It is well worth spending a day here. They also have a happy hour in their bar, which is fun too.

We came all the way to Houston to see the Van Gogh exhibit. We will have to come back another day because the line was down the street and out the door. Wow! We had already waited about 30 min to purchase our tickets. They didn't tell us where to go, and when we finally found the exhibit the lady laughed at us and told us we'd have to get at the back of the line that looked hours long. We will just come back but earlier in the day.

A fun activity to do around town. Admission to the museum are free every Thursday. I have been here a few times for school and on my own. They have wide selection of artwork on display and it is always changing. There are also special exhibits for a limited amount of time.

Definitely recommend if you have a guest out-of-town who loves art. The museum is quiet and relaxing. You can spend a good 30 minute to an hour here. In addition, this area is filled with other activities you can do to explore downtown Houston and everything is within walking distance.

Large museum with a world class collection. There are multiple buildings with tunnels, stairs and escalators connecting some of them. This building system could use a better map or visitor guide. Still, don't hesitate to visit.

I love the Fine Arts Museum of Houston. There are some great permanent exhibits, and there are always fantastic traveling exhibits. One can spend days in the museum and not truly take it all in.

This is a great place to visit in Houston. My husband and I came for the Van Gogh exhibit and really enjoyed it, although our favorite parts were the African and South American. It's in a great area with fairly easy parking. We also had a quick walk through the sculpture garden, which was nice as well.

Attended for Van Gogh exhibit which was Amazing and well done, then wandered the other floors. Total exhibit time- about 2 1/2 hours. Ate in the cafe- pricey and a long wait but good food. Parking can be a challenge. Print the map and have options available if nearest lots are full.

This was the first time I visited this Museum, specifically for the Van Gogh exhibit. It was a fairly seamless process parking, and purchasing admission tickets. The exhibition was laid out very nicely - there were quite a few people, but it did not feel overly crowded. I enjoyed the audio tour that came with the admission ticket. I feel that it added more depth than what was displayed on the walls. The only regret I have is not having more time to look at the other exhibits. I did wonder into a few other areas with abstract paintings and another with marble sculptures. The variety of exhibits that this Museum holds will surely keep me coming back for more!
