Nice fun place to take the children n learning experiance for the whole family
We go to the museum three to four times a month for homeschool classes. The classes are always fun and informative. They have great teachers that keep the kids engaged and learning!
Really great museum. I didn't like the fact that they charge extra for special exhibitions, expecially traveling shows like the pipilotti rist show that was at the new museum in New York City and now would cost me more to see on top of general admission. I can't wait for the new expansion building to be built.
Very interesting selections. I really enjoyed it. Also checked out the Oscar de la Renta exhibit which was very neat and different.
Thankful to have this museum in the city where I live.
I was in Heaven amidst the beautiful art! Could have spent all day and night here.
Excellent place for having a new knowledge about arts and history too.
Well laid out, lots to see. I've spent as long as I could on several days, haven't made it to the second building yet. Only grumble is the parking is awkward, although it's never been crowded when I was there.
We enjoyed the Oscar de la Renta exhibit! And the art donated by Audrey Jones Beck is amazing!
I love the local high school student's photos on display.
Nice museum with a great collection of works. Not too big in size or scope to make it feel overwhelming. Very affordable in price and they offer many different discounts, too.
Really great museum and I have been visiting here since I was a teen. This museum rivals as one of the top museums in the country! They have rotating exhibits all the time. Really great location in the center if the Museum District, Medical Center and Hermann Park!
This place is nice and exhibits are good but the ticket prices very high. The pixel forest was cool but differently not worth the price AT ALL!! I wanted a refund for that one!
Attended Monet to Picasso:A very private collection
Staff are do not care if you paid for entry and will begin rushing you out before closing. If you can only make it within an hour of closing, don't go because they'll start leading you to the exit before 7.
The place and art was very nice. I would've given a 5 star if it wasn't for the ticket admissions. When we were buying our tickets, my brother and I wanted to get discounts since we were college students. We had our college IDs out and told the clerk. However, we were just ignored and charged with the normal price. The clerk didn't even smile or say thank you after our purchase. Other than that, the visit was pleasant.
If you care even a little for arts and you're in Houston, you have to pay this a visit.
Excellent exhibition ... Every Thursday is free for what is the permanent gallery. There are other exhibitions but you must pay for them ...
Always enjoy checking out the new and old exhibits/art.
Wonderful opportunity to experience Van Gogh's work! Really good audio tour.
Loved the Norman Rockwell exhibit. Bundled with the impressionists a real value. Along with the museum's collection, what a great day!
I spent all day and it wasn't long enough absolutely loved it
Massive museum with an incredible collection from around the world. Would highly recommend.
Excellent Museum, at the moment there is an exhibition of Vincent Van Gogh
Very big museum distributed in two buildings. It has a little bit of everything.
Very nice museum.
Just train it to flesh out the welcome at the entrance
The curating here is incredible. Even exhibits I wouldn't think to like surprise me.
I wish we had I museum district like this in Austin. This district makes Houston such a nice day trip when you live in Austin, plus you can stop at Buc-ee's in Katy on your way down there! I know this isn't a review for bucees oh, that's just an aside. I saw the van Gogh exhibit at the MFA and it was amazing, of course. I just wish I'd had more time and less crowds to fight to take more pictures.
Great museum, a real treasure for Houston. We had dropped our membership for a few years, because the customer service had gotten terrible, but on our recent visit it was greatly improved.
This along with the sculpture garden are my favorite places in town. Relaxing, beautiful artwork, always changing, great food in the bottom floor. Gift shop has some wonderful pieces too!
So much to see! Very interesting but bring good walking shoes!
I love this museum. Always something new. Went on a members tour of Jasper Johns exhibit. Very informative and the docent that led it was wonderful with her lovely french accent. Saw the Monet to Picasso along with Berte Morriset exhibit which was breathtaking and a must see for art lovers.
Went to see the Michaelangelo exhibit. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the layout of the exhibit was well-spaced, and highly organized.
It is a small museum compared to others on the east coast of the United States, but it has some good gems by Monet, Picasso, Degas, Rodin, Gauguin, Brueghel the Elder and a revelation for me, jusepe de Rivera that has an intensity between Goya and Caravaggio . A few small works that stand out from the fateful collection of American painting.
It is an excellent museum with beautiful works of art worldwide.
It amazes me to know that we don t have to travel to other countries to appreciate the art of some of the most talented artists!! Every summer we delight in spending an afternoon at the museum enjoying art! This year we went to see Vincent Van Gogh exhibit and it was spectacular! We learned about Van Gogh s life through his art. What a fun way to learn and appreciate art!
MFAH is amazing and beautiful inside and out! The sculpture garden is amazing and the buildings are full of amazing art!
I LOVE this museum!! Thursdays are free admission! Artwork from many different time periods and well known artists are available to be seen!
Plenty of exhibits to see and a great place to visit during these hot summer months.
Love visiting MFAH. There's always something interesting on display and the guides are always happy to point you in the right direction.
The museum we visited was very clean, well kept and in order. Staff was polite and helpful. My family and I had an awesome experience!
One of the best places in Houston for art connoisseurs!!
Amazing place. One day is short to get full exposure
Has become one of my all time favorite museums after one visit. I love the building, the collection, the accessibility to the art and the friendly staff.
Great museum with treasures from throughout the world
Great works of art on display here. Having the general exhibition free to the public on Thursdays is also very nice as well!
Today was my first visit to the MFA Houston, to view the Van Gogh exhibit. I went within the first hour on a Saturday and it was crowded due to it being a special exhibit. The staff was very helpful in directing us toward ticketing and the exhibit itself. There was $10 parking garage nearby, very convenient.
We are members. But it's pretty bad when you call management several times and management does not bother to call you to resolve the issue. It's been 4 weeks and they have yet to respond to my concern regarding the fact that my membership card does not work with the new parking validation system. Therefore, I am not getting my discounted parking. I've shown them pictures to show my validation ticket does not recognize my membership. Way to go Houston MOFA. Is this how you treat your members! And, on 3 different occasions, I have not gotten my parking discount. Why don't you call me, or mail me new membership cards like you said you would? The other dilemma is that what used to be a decent experience has now become a nightmare. You have to go into a hot parking garage, wait in line for the elevator, walk in the heat to the museum, wait in line again to get your tickets, wait in line again when you are leaving because there is only 1 parking validation machine, stand in line in a hot area because the stupid fan you have in the parking garage DOES NOT work, and then wait in line to go find your car, and wait in line to exit.
So many amazing exhibits, they always have something new. I recommend the dual membership. The museum is more fun with a friend
An absolutely stunning museum that is a must see in the Houston area. Located in a central part of the Museum district, it's easy to reach by public transport from downtown on the light rail.
There are 2 massive buildings housing the largest collection of art work I have ever seen. It will take more than 1.5 hours just to walk through the entire museum without reading any of the descriptions.
The art work spans a wide variety of time and geographies but is laid out in a fashion that's not too confusing. The special exhibitions are worth checking out as they are extremely unique and unlikely to be found anywhere else.
Pricing is extremely reasonable and well worth the cost of admission. Staff are extremely friendly as well.
Good collection. Well arranged.
Crowds move fast.
Van Gogh exhibit outstanding.
Love the art that they have..... Plus the drinks after . Very relaxing
Staff are do not care if you paid for entry and will begin rushing you out before closing. If you can only make it within an hour of closing, don't go because they'll start leading you to the exit before 7.
See Van Gogh's work evolve over the years - and get REALLY cool as he slipped further into madness. Don't miss the interactive room. It is NOT just for kids.
This was the first time we visited and there was so much to see. Really enjoyed the exhibits.
The new building host great modern creations. The variety of arts exposed gives an incredible richness to the museum.
