Huge museum. We went when the Van Gogh exhibit was there and it was worth the extra fee. The only downside was that some of the museum attendants were overzealous and would tell people to step back when they were 2 feet away from an exhibit. That was irritating. Art from all over the world. The African area was awesome.
Incredible experience, you have to love paintings especially the Dutch Masters and many portraits of royalty
Thursday s, So the museum is free but the parking is FREE after 5PM!!! 5-8 PM parking is free in the new parking lot.
Great great expos. Both temporary and permanent. They have great variety and a really big space
Such awesome pieces. Will go every time I'm in Houston.
Our visit might have been a field trip for the art appreciation class I once took. It's cooled to counter the summer heat blast and even provides a decent cafe.
Number one perk is the free parking. Even if you don't appreciate /like art, there is something for you here. We spent an entire afternoon here and were not in the slightest bored or tired. There is so much to see and talk about. Perfect date location.
I never tire of going to the museum, and I think it's a fabulous and simply magical place ... !!! but today I had such rude treatment from this young lady that I really could not let it pass by, that it's a pity that this young lady is part of the public attention team. unlike the other part of the team, this lady was extremely rude I disrespectful, I hope that for the future it receives the training and adequate training for dealing with the public ... !!

We came to see the Pipilotti Rist exhibit Pixel Forest and Worry Will Vanish. The exhibit itself is, in my uncultured eyes, just okay. It's quite small and I can't say I understood the video, nor can I say that my worries vanished. The hanging lights were neat and made for some cool pictures though. The rest of the museum is great; there's a lot to do there. We ended up spending a good 4 hours there and still hadn't completely finished all the exhibits.
With approximately 6,500 pieces of art display in 2 different buildings: Caroline Wiesss Law and Audrey Jones Beck. Each buidings has 3 levels, connected by The Wilson Tunnel located ad lower level (the tunnel is the only way to move to another building). The museum conducts art work from different contries (Asia, Islamic, African...); European Art 1200-1940
Great museum surrounded by other museums. Great collection of art and staff that knows their stuff. Recommend 100%
A beautiful place to visit in Houston with the exhibition!
There is so much to see at this museum, I highly recommend that you go and see every bit of it. Check your bag at the front. Non flash photography is ok!
Lovely museum. They give discounted ticket prices for students. It's a great place to spend the afternoon.
Came for the Van Gogh exhibit, but the normal exhibits are just as fascinating and informative.
I live in Dallas and I am a member here. Such a great spot.
What a world class exhibition of arts!! Fantastic!!
The art was really good. They have a great mix. The staff is very friendly & knowledgeable.
One of my favorite places in Houston. From the art exhibits to The mixed media events!! truly a must go to.
I love all the art work. I could spend my whole day here.
The Van Gogh exhibit was good and a ton of great art. Not sure if we saw it all.
My first time visiting the museum and I really enjoyed the exhibits.
It has so many great exibitions. The variety is specially refreshing when enjoying Italian reinassance art and finding yourself suddenly in the precense of finely ornamented Egyptian sarcophagus or gold crowns from Indonesian tribal kings
Always growing establishment with wonderful collections and excellent exhibitions.
Absolutely love this place! Had a TON of originals my wife or I had ever seen. Michelangelo, Picasos, Dalis! LOVE it! And the tunnel connecting underground is super trippy :)
Super fun and lots to learn! Amazing, world famous art.
This museum has some incredible collections. There is definitely enough to visit several times. I only had about five hours during my visit, and I was not able to see everything. I will go back the next time I am in Houston!
Go to place to hang out/walk around when I'm in the area. I've been coming here for years, mostly just to look at the free exhibits, and there's always hours of stuff to look at and read about. The oil paintings are my favorite. I suggest going on a weekday cuz the weekends can be really busy. I took my husband for the first time today. He's not a museum person but he enjoyed himself. PA don't bring a backpack. You can't have one for risk of bumping things over.
The Van Gogh collection had been here for a while and is the hit of the day. Long lines to come and see it. I like how the museum hands out little speakers that you point to certain pictures and a narrator explains the work of art. My son wanted to come and see the drawing showing st. Michael the archangel fighting the devil, but it was not on the walls this time. As I was told me some of the works are in circulation and some week they are there and others they are not
I would definitely recommend visiting - Houston is lucky to have such a great museum.
Excellent museum. Spacious, clean and interesting rooms. The staff is very attentive and kind. The parking price is considerable and they make discounts if you are a student.
Great experience with a variety of art styles. Pippolotti forest was a bit unworth while. Wish we would've done the Ron Muek exhibit, that looked incredable!
The MFAH is a Houston treasure. Fantastic, well thought out exhibits are continually coming through town. We are lucky to have a museum of this caliber in our town.
Reasonably priced exhibit with numerous other displayed works
Soul of a Main exhibit was very enlightening. We enjoyed it.
I attended the Oscar nominee's for short film for both animation and live-action categories at the Museum of Fine Arts-Houston (MFAH). All of the films were outstanding as they were timely in presenting topics and issues that the global community should be discussing and addressing. There are my lessons and moral teachings (at all levels) in every one of these films. This year's nominees should not be missed. The MFAH does an extraordinary job in presenting and showcasing these films to the Houston community.
I didn't go in, I picked up a passenger there. She loved it, and was very impressed that Houston has such a fabulous museum. I took her to the airport. She said she had been in town to meet up with friends, but their flights were earlier so she had decided to indulge with MFA. Apparently they made it easy for her to deal with her suitcases.
Great! Don't miss the Jon Mueck gallery, fascinating!
Always love visiting MFAH. It's one of our favorite destinations in Houston. We're looking forward to visiting the new building when it's completed.
So much history and artifacts, tour with Ms. Parker was informative, she was extremely energetic, very knowledgeable and you could tell she loves her job. Thank you for a wonderful day!
Got to partake in the Van Gogh exhibit. Even though it was crowded I still enjoyed my time there and the audio tour had some interesting tips!
Many nice pieces of art. Great building, good location.
We went to the Bamboo exhibit and with our tickets we also got to see the exhibits. The bamboo is 2 stories high. I expected it to be higher. However, it is still very impressive. I'm amazed how only rope and bamboo held the structure together. The exhibits were very nice too. They were from all parts of the world.
I visited to see the exhibition of Gogh. This is a huge museum in Houston. Ticket is a little expensive, but almost good.
This is a first rate museum. Truthfully there is so much to see it's impossible to view in a single visit. I recommend selecting a couple areas of interest, focusing on those and visiting often. If possible as for a docent your to get more information about the pieces on display. They offer a unique view, opening your mind to new questions.
I came here to see the Houston cloud. very beautiful set up.
A simply incredible collection of art from across multiple periods. Free on Thursdays and right beside other great museums, you can make an entire day just in these few blocks alone.
This place is very inspirational for me. Just like other museums in Houston, free entrance on Thursday.
Amazing displays. I love Van Gogh. So happy to have a membership.
Enjoyed the Oscar de la Renta exhibit. This is a great mother-daughter thing to do.
