Always a great time here at the Houston art museum. Although their prices are steep I'm thankful that I still have my college ID to get that $5 discount. Parking here is crazy, I recommend parking inside the lots inside the museum buildings. If you know you will be here for a long time, I recommend carpooling and stay for 30 minutes for free or 30 minutes to a few hours for $10. I went to the van Gogh exhibit. Very interested in the type of paintings he used whether it were oil paintings or charcoal usage, the different techniques he used were very astonishing. They have free artwork made by students and other exhibits if you want to stay longer. This would be an extra charge.

Pricey, but a great way of spending your day.

What a wonderful experience! The most recent exhibition was amazing. We didn t finish seeing everything in one day because of how huge the museum is. I recommend you go early to avoid the afternoon crowd. The world history and beautiful art were breathtaking and captivating. The MFA is also kept in really good condition. The receptionist and workers were all amazing and helpful. We will definitely be returning.

Everything is always clean, you can learn a lot. Only thing I hated, finding a decent parking space since they have construction. But overall is great.. Also I like the fact that from time to time they have different kind of expositions.

I'm sure there are 3 page reviews about this place, so I am gonna keep this real short. I went to 8 art galleries downtown. This one and 1 other was the best I've ever been to. Needless to say you need to check this one out! If you don't want to pay come in on a Thursday. Students get in halve off as well on the other days.

They have very interesting exhibitions with pre-Hispanic pieces, art from Japan, China, Korea, and Islamic art, among others.

We only had time to visit the blockbuster van Gogh exhibit and it was all that was promised. There were not only the great paintings, but the drawings that helped explain the artist's progression in his career. It was worth the trip to Houston to see this as it will not be shown anywhere else.

You Could Spend an Entire Year there and not be able to absorb and just capture everything so awe inspiring. I spent the entire day on the Michelangelo Exhibit though most were just derivatives and copies and were sylisticly Michelangelo and his influences throughout history it was still thoroughly enjoyable.

I usually don't enjoy art museums but this one was so interesting. I was sort of sad that they didn't have the light exhibits that I REALLY wanted to see. But the ones they had were still interesting

I've gone here since I was a teeny kid. My mom is an artist and she would drag me here and shed sketch sculptures or whatever. It was the mid 70s! Anyway, needless to say the museum has changed a lot since then. I'd say overall for the better. Some of the pics in the regular collection have been there since those old days. Ha!

Every Thursday the museum is complementary to the public. It s a great place to immerse yourself with the origins and history from which the art came from. There s a lot to see and plenty to learn. Parking can be a headache. They took away the complimentary parking from the church across the street. You re now forced to either find parking elsewhere or park in the garage. Rates can be hefty.

They had an art of India gallery at the time I went, probably to correlate with the theme of photofest this year. It was spectacular with lots of gold and a musical presentation. Good way to spend 4 hours.

I had to wait over an hour to wait for my child to be permitted to leave the edifice just because of the dignitaries that were there. It was a school night!!! An officer told me to just keep circling the block. Really?

It s a nice museum, but guards were rude and we got called out for non sense four times. Couldn t even enjoy the museum without feeling intimidated. Museums are for people to go have fun and appreciate the different kinds of art out there. It s not for people like the guards to just be getting after us, we re adults WE KNOW right from wrong, we re not children yet they treated us like children. Never coming back here again.

The Museum of Fine Arts Houston is definitely my favorite museum in Houston, if you take a look at their websites there are many ways to get in free. Unlike other art museum, there are a lot of interactive events such as arts and crafts. There may not be as many great pieces as the art museums in other large cities but the environment and people are very friendly.

I can honestly get lost in here for an entire day.

The museum is huge, and they have a plethora of art from every style and time period known to man.

Art enthusiasts and casual admirers alike should make it a priority to visit the MFAH atleast once.

The Visitors musical art exhibit by Ragnar Kjartansson was the most beautiful musical performance I ve ever heard and seen and it wasn t even live. I m not too big of an art person as I m here with my girlfriend who loves art. This piece really changed that and I felt overpowered with emotions and good feelings as I watched and listen to the musicians play their part in the beautiful melody

Our visit this time focused on the collection of gold objects from Indonesia, as well as the Pre-Columbian gold collection from Latin America. Both are fabulous collections: well-annotated and displayed, they provide an amazing perspective of the artistry, cultural context and complexity of these two, culturally very different areas of the world. Instructive to see how the gold collection of each of the many islands that compose the Indonesian archipelago are so distinct, and how many qualitative and quantitative differences there are between islands that are just a few dozen miles from each other. In Latin America too, there were great differences between the various indigenous cultures in Colombia, Mexico, Panama, and Peru. Having seen wonderful gold collections in Mexico, Colombia and Peru, the collection at the Museum of Fine arts provides an added perspective, by exhibiting them side by side.
