Last day of the Oscar de la Renta exhibit Simply Beautiful
Like the paintings. They have a decent collection of impressionism
This was an amazing museum. We went to see the van Gogh exhibit but I was blown away by so much other art they had on the second level. The facilities were very clean and well-kept and the staff was super friendly.
Love this place. So much culture in one building. I came here a few months ago and it was free. I do t recall which day of the week but it's Thursday or Wednesday. Best to double check. Steady a clean and well maintained. Employees were friendly. Parking was a bit of a pain, but that's Houston
I came to see the Oscar De La Renta collection and was surprised to find that it wasn't just one or two rooms. The exhibit extends across approximately 4 or 5 large rooms! With visual aids! Amazing. I loved it.
An amazing place full of culture and history very awe inspiring. Be prepared to be here all day so much fun.
There are 2 buildings and an outside area and another building under construction. One building is a must must must see. It is full of European and American artwork and sculptures. I suggest visiting here first. The other includes a lot of Asian and African art. This one is much quicker to go through. Also, be sure to walk across the street and check out the Houston Bean . One ticket will get you into both buildings and tickets are free for Bank of America customers the first weekend of every month.
Beautiful and inspiring museum. It is not free like the Dallas art museum however.
Excellent for history and art lovers .
Very clean, organized, and lots to see. And learn about world history and artifacts
Street parking nearby plentiful
A must see
One of the best art museum I've been on. A very good picture expo, in a chronological and styles order. From an excellent renaissance artist selection, up to contemporary art. Archeology section.
If you are into art in any shape, form, or fashion, check this place out! An edifice of awesome.
A wonderful museum. Although vast, it's very well designed and has a very helpful staff.
Always an incredible experience with huge exhibits, photos, childrens activities, etc. Two garages offer easy accessibility. The cafe has great food to get refreshed.
Beautiful place with a modern architecture ideal for exhibiting works of art, from the most classical periods and different cultures to the most contemporary artists.
Free every Thursday! Happy Hour & food truck from 6:00 to 8:00!
The community day with free admission on Thursdays is perfect. Check out all the general exhibts and there are so many really beautiful pieces to see and appreciate. Then the food truck next door with free drinks to help close up the night. Great for friends family and just relaxing a bit and getting a good weekend started.
Great museum, easy to spend a little time for an exhibit or a full day. New exhibits are always in town.
Great museum. I have been many times and everytime I go I see something new that i didnt notice before. Its free on Thursdays and if you r a student and show your id you get a discount or if you have an assignment u get in free
This is a truly fine museum that has a lot to offer. My biggest complaint would be the prices in the gift shop, but you kind of expect that from a museum. We visited the Van Gogh exhibit and it was a once in a lifetime experience. They include a great gallery, allow you to take your time, and really put effort into the exhibits.
Love this museum! What a great collection of all the great painters from this era. Must try the city pass! Good savings...
Nice, but expensive for 2 people without a membership.
The Van Gogh exhibit was amazing. The museum its self is fantastic although confusing. I feel like i missed some thing with the way its laid out.
My family and I were having a lovely time. One of the gentleman was extremely pleasant. We came to the digital printing section and the woman asked for our stickers. My toddlers had been playing with them and lost them. I showed her our tickets for the exhibit. She insisted we show her the stickers. I felt singled out as my family did not look like the other museum guests. I went to the front desk to get more stickers. I then put the sticker on my person and showed her. Also a woman upstairs said something to my husband about how he was holding our daughter. She went to her co worker that resembled my husband to ask him not to hold her that way. My husband kept saying the paintings were fake for various reasons.
Spectacular combination of classical art with fresh avante guard works. Wish I had time to see more, but I was very hungry for more after my two hour visit.
Very nice museum, with high quality collections of European and American art.
Worth the visit
Nice way to spend your hot day in Houston. Great selections of art work from around the world!
Great place to see some well known matters as well as lesser known artists.
Went to see exhibition called Soul Of A Nation. It was laid out beautifully. Very informative, provocative and interesting to view. Staff greeted us upon entering. Policies in place due to covid-19 such as mandatory masks and temperature checks. I bought our tickets online which was suggested. All in all still a great experience. Go to the museum!
Great eclectic collection, beautifully displayed with a warm staff. Anxiously awating the chapel reopening in July. Parking is difficult and the lovely park doesn't have enough benches
I love this beautiful place, especially the Latin cinema exhibitions.
The Museum is easy to get to from the nearby tram stop. It is spacious and well organised with clear divisions by themes, both geographical and era. The works are mainly pictures, but also furniture and some sculptures. Every work has a clear description in simple English free from technical jargon, giving information about both the artist and the context of the subject. There is an excellent restaurant offering a wide choice of food and drinks. Our visit was a good use of one of our days in Houston and a City Pass ticket.
The Van Gogj exhibit was amazing. A once in a lifetime experience.
They do not have a place for busses. They do not like the school bus but they love the money we bring them. A designated spot to park and a shuttle to where we dropped our students. Then back to retreave the bus when it is time to leave.
My peace. I love the museum. So much so that during my last visit, signed up for a membership. Great social scene a few times a year. Experienced many exhibits here. Well worth the visit.
Went to see the Rockwell Exhibit. Highly recommend it
Great place with lots of arts from different era and parts of the world
Excellent collection with very good temporary exhibitions.
I'm generally don't like museums but this place is pretty chill.
Free regular exhibits & open late (9pm) Thursdays. It has a cross section of EVERYTHING. Modern; Cubist; Expressionist; Early American / European Traditional Masters; Antiquities; Movie Theater, Lite Restaurant; &, so much more. Currently TWO buildings: Beck (east) & Law (west) on Binz & Main St. connected by the color & space illusion Turrell Tunnel. Relaxing sculpture garden tucked nw side of Binz. /// It is going through a MASSIVE building campaign. I believe paid parking is available from Montrose. Traffic a bit. Access via rail also. For frequent non-Thursday visits & free opening day plus 1 free pass to SPECIAL exhibits, I recommend a individual or joint membership.
Amazing collection. Loved this museum. Great memories
Awesome! It is a beautiful museum with incredible works of art that leave you breathless. Really well organized, with very friendly staff
Nice place. Very clean. My brother works as a security guard there and got me and my girlfriend in for free!. Parking is 10$ for 4 hours.
My employer had my co-workers and I on a scavenger hunt at MFA for team building. We all had fun.
VERY RUDE LADY WORKING AT FRONT DESK. And a worker crop dusted me.
Quiet no bad kids. Mostly young teenagers 20 to 40 visit. Maybe for college or somewhat. Very quiet peaceful and a lounging area. Beutiful murals of pictures just absolute beautiful paintings. To bad its moving out of houston:/
Since the church next the HMFA is under construction, free parking has become harder to to find. The museum is great and has a lot of great works and new exhibition that showcase great artist.
This museum has a terrific selection of art set out in a beautiful way. There is also a place to get a bite to eat or a coffee. The permanent collection has a variety of pieces any art lover will enjoy. The visiting exhibits are high quality and often will only be seen in Houston or a few other cities. The gift shop is large and has a very nice selection of items.
I loved going! It was my first time ever going to such a crazy and very wonderous place. At first I was confused and didn't understand a basic map they gave me but then as I wondered around the awesome place I realized I had to read it much more carefully. And also it's really cool you have to walk underneath into this tunnel to go to the other building. And also let's not forget as well that it's hard to find a parking space as well. All in all a very nice place.
The Royals Tour/Exhibition The Best and only here in Houston
Love this place, the setup is quite navigable and the flow though to different gallerries is easy. I throughtly enjoyed their collection
Went to look at pieces for a specific time period for a school paper and everyone was very helpful and friendly.
Always love visiting this museum. Last visit was on a Thursday evening, and it had a fun vibe.
Pretty decent, don't have a lot of great artists, art is still very nice
Beautiful museum but the marble floors are hard on seniors like me. Maps for exhibits hard to decipher.
Great place! The staff is good and it's free on Thursday I think it starts at 1 P.M.
Always enjoy the Fine arts museum they have wonderful nationally recognized exhibits
It is Rich history. You can see all countries culture.Ancient art is wonderful.Looks like real.I really enjoy watching that day.I had my own pace.
The van gogh exhibit line was 2 hours long, we bought tickets and didnt even know that until AFTER we bought it. The cashier definitely should have informed us BEFORE we payed almost 50 bucks.
Never had a bad experience and they have always had the most neat things to look at. My family is entertained every visit.
The Norman Rockwell exhibit is outstanding. Recommend!
Good collection. Weird policy on backpacks (wear it on the front? What?). Odd layout too, took us three tries to find the European paintings.
The MFA has great exhibits year round. I really enjoyed the Mexican Falk Art exhibit. I can' wait to see the Oscar De La Renta coming up. I love to visit and learn at the same time. Beautiful layout of permanent art at the museum. Great for tourists!
As the flagship art institution of Houston, this place lives up to its station. Always worth a visit, avoid Thursdays and weekends if you want a quieter experience.
