Went for Soul of A Nation, a very impressive catalog of creative artistry with collective works from black artists showcasing a myriad of black unity/faith/love/pain/power over the span of two decades. Loved it!
Excellent museum with very good works of art. A tip is to go on Thursdays, both admission and parking are free and the museum is open until 9 PM giving time to tour it.
Enjoyed the Van Gogh paintings but also the other artists they have on display, Remington is one of my favorites.
Absolutely love this place! Finally decided to get the membership so now I can come as often as I like. Can't wait to come back and see more exhibitions.
Visited this museum three weeks ago.
Good collection of art, particularly impressed with their modern art exhibits.
Allow a full day if you re into art, there s a lot to see.
Nice museum and very informative. Visit on Thursday evenings for free. They also have happy hour in Thurdays. Also, free parking in the garage as well after 5 PM. They also have many events happening all the time. Check out their calendar on the website for latest events.
Beautiful collection. Worth the visit. I went and came back from Uber using the same application that I use in Brazil.
Always love coming to see the new and permanent exhibits. Haven't really experienced over crowding but parking can be a little tricky
Great museum and great exhibits. Very difficult to navigate if visiting with a stroller.
This museum is done to me, something really great was done to me, it is free certain days of the week, certain times this is something that Houston offers you that is super accessible to a budget and time has very interesting things you can observe from a fine painting to ivory sculptures and different articles made by the human being
So much to see! Very well chosen and fascinating exhibits, as well as interesting installments between the exhibits themselves. We also stopped at the cafe and were impressed at the quality of the food choices!
I LOVE this museum!! Thursdays are free admission! Artwork from many different time periods and well known artists are available to be seen!
Because he knows and sees one incredible things that otherwise one could not even imagine
Great place. Very accessible, kid friendly. I drive from Austin to visit. My 7 and 9 year old kids love it. Staff are very friendly.
I originally had no idea what to expect from an art museum. I had only ever been to natural history exhibits, and wondered if the lack of physical prescence would dampen the sense of wonder.
I was completely wrong, of course. Not only are the portraits some of the most emotionally charged pieces I have had the honor of being in the same room with, but the breadth of art pieces avaibale go far beyond paintings. There are mummies and copic jars. Greek vases. Roman tombs carved from glittering marble. Gargoyle-esque pieces looming down from walls high above. And of course, there is always a large exhibit available on the first floor. I have only been to one as there is so much more to explore on the second floor, but the one I did see made every penny worth it. It truly is an educational experience that even those that are more scientifically-minded can enjoy thoroughly. It may not be the best place to take small children. But as an adult I can say it's a lovely experience.
Great for when you wann time travel to the past, also great first date, alot to talk about
Outstanding museum that was obviously funded generously early on. Beautiful parks and art surrounding the museum. The inside is equally impressive. Only grips are that it is no secret that this museum is great. Almost always a crowd and the issues that come with.. parking.. noise level. Tickets are also a bit steep. But perhaps it's just my impression that educational centers should be very economical.
Went here with some friends from overseas and they were fascinated with the amount and quality of art this center carried. The countless amount of works that are world renown rivals that of some national museums. It was kind of crowded when I went a year and pictures were a little hard to take. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience.
Massive amazing museum! You cant finish it in one afternoon. Definitely recommend their special exhibitions which you prob need ticket for. Most of it is free, and its beautiful to look at.
Go in the morning and spend the whole day, its marvelous. They even have a photographic art exhibit including one clicked by highschoolers.
Must visit if you are in Houston
Love it! Definitely a must see while in Houston. It's also located in a nice area of the city, close to Hermann Park.
Wow... Just wow. So much to see and so much intrigue. Best to pace yourself and set aside the day to try and cover the whole place. Eat a big breakfast or lunch, put on your walking shoes and prepare for a good treck because you'll truly be disappointed if you get tuckered out before you're even half way through. Super appreciative for all the places to sit, but not sure it's anything I'd ever take young kids to.
It is a very beautiful place and has excellent coffee.
Took a guided tour Norman Rockwell exhibit .great collection
This was the first time I visited this Museum, specifically for the Van Gogh exhibit. It was a fairly seamless process parking, and purchasing admission tickets. The exhibition was laid out very nicely - there were quite a few people, but it did not feel overly crowded. I enjoyed the audio tour that came with the admission ticket. I feel that it added more depth than what was displayed on the walls. The only regret I have is not having more time to look at the other exhibits. I did wonder into a few other areas with abstract paintings and another with marble sculptures. The variety of exhibits that this Museum holds will surely keep me coming back for more!
Great but overcrowd on the weekends!! Plan carefully!!
LOVE this museum. Great variety and exhibits. Need to work on outdoor sculpture garden.
The Museum of Fine Arts Houston is always a great place to spend a weekend afternoon, and a good place to escape the summer heat!! Interesting exhibits that change frequently so you never get tired of going back.

I traveled to Houston MFA last May for the Van Gogh exhibition, which was very impressive. Like Houston itself, the museum is sprawling, and not easy to navigate. Some areas are very dated, and not lighted well. I know the MFA is in the process of building a new complex, which is wonderful
Enjoyed our visit. I was surprised on how much I enjoyed the digital age works.
A must see. Thursdays are free and open late till 9. Have a great collection.
MFAH is one of the best in the country. Make sure you don't miss one of the buildings, as they are not obviously connected. There's a tunnel below main Street but it's a bit hidden. Special exhibits are always good, but the permanent collection is also fantastic. As of June 2017 they're constructing an additional building, so parking is a bit restricted.
Wow! Superbowl 51 VIP party. ROLLING STONE PARTY VIP.
The Royals exhibit was very informative and the artwork beautiful. The commentary provided by the audio tour was a good compliment to the tour.
Beautiful art pieces from around the world. Students are half off.
I enjoy the beauty of the item's displayed and the stories & history they come with. It's an amazing place. You won't be disappointed & there's so much to see.
I love this place. Membership is only $80 for two people. So basically, you go half with someone and you can go to the exhibitions for the first time for free . After that, it s discounted. The membership also includes going to the non-exhibition side for free any day. It s always clean and you can either wait to get tickets in a line, get your tickets online, or use the kiosks there to get tickets, which allows you to skip the line and avoid talking to people - if that s your style. Hardly anyone uses the kiosks...
Fine place to visit... kind of confusing but easily got the gist of the area. Parking is $10.00 in a parking garage (they don t take cash)
Wonderful museum! Ever expanding. Great events and passing exhibitions. Nice buildings and surroundings. Definitely take the kids (Thursdays are free, mostly). Catch a lecture or a movie or even a class!
it large, quite and you can spend the day wandering. i think the price is too high and they really should work on a city pass type thing where you can get membership to al lthe meuseums for a reasonable price
We went to the Vincent Van Gough exibit and it was very good many paintings I had never seen. Staff was very helpful.
Mind blowing and educational.i cried the first time I walked into their beautiful paleontology hall.
I was in Houston last October and I was so impressed with the Museum! The art was beautiful, the lay out made sense and the cafe/restaurant on the bottom floor was so delicious (although a bit expensive). I would definitely go again - and if you get a chance check out the sculpture garden across the street.
Love the fact that Thursdays is free and there is alot to see and explore
#PixelLights and the Mexican Modern art exhibit were awesome and my 4 year old really wnjoyed it ans it captured her attention.
The art was good, but don't let your face mask go down bellow the crest of your nose for even a second...These guys are just following orders I understand but I'm so over it.
The MFA Begins It's Display of Artwork by Vincent van Gogh in Early March 2019
Van Gogh exhibit great. Busy day but still able to see permanent exhibition also. Staff at front desk very helpful.
I am a regular visitor! I always love the new exhibits.
I love this museum, spent two day and really had a good time there. Lots of great works for you to explore and the museum is always free for the permanent collection.
had fund at the Mueck exhibition, a pit pricey but overall experience was nice
Loved our visit, we went to see The Royals exhibit. It was fantastic, see it before it's gone!
World class fine art museum with friendly / professional staff
Always a great calm atmosphere here and the cafe is awesome.
Definitely not my thing. But I'm sure a lot of people love the art here.
Love this museum. Has many great events throughout the year. The art is phenomenal. Highly recommend to come here and visit. The prices are reasonable.
