Went for Soul of A Nation, a very impressive catalog of creative artistry with collective works from black artists showcasing a myriad of black unity/faith/love/pain/power over the span of two decades. Loved it!

Nice museum and very informative. Visit on Thursday evenings for free. They also have happy hour in Thurdays. Also, free parking in the garage as well after 5 PM. They also have many events happening all the time. Check out their calendar on the website for latest events.

This museum is done to me, something really great was done to me, it is free certain days of the week, certain times this is something that Houston offers you that is super accessible to a budget and time has very interesting things you can observe from a fine painting to ivory sculptures and different articles made by the human being

So much to see! Very well chosen and fascinating exhibits, as well as interesting installments between the exhibits themselves. We also stopped at the cafe and were impressed at the quality of the food choices!

I originally had no idea what to expect from an art museum. I had only ever been to natural history exhibits, and wondered if the lack of physical prescence would dampen the sense of wonder.
I was completely wrong, of course. Not only are the portraits some of the most emotionally charged pieces I have had the honor of being in the same room with, but the breadth of art pieces avaibale go far beyond paintings. There are mummies and copic jars. Greek vases. Roman tombs carved from glittering marble. Gargoyle-esque pieces looming down from walls high above. And of course, there is always a large exhibit available on the first floor. I have only been to one as there is so much more to explore on the second floor, but the one I did see made every penny worth it. It truly is an educational experience that even those that are more scientifically-minded can enjoy thoroughly. It may not be the best place to take small children. But as an adult I can say it's a lovely experience.

Outstanding museum that was obviously funded generously early on. Beautiful parks and art surrounding the museum. The inside is equally impressive. Only grips are that it is no secret that this museum is great. Almost always a crowd and the issues that come with.. parking.. noise level. Tickets are also a bit steep. But perhaps it's just my impression that educational centers should be very economical.

Went here with some friends from overseas and they were fascinated with the amount and quality of art this center carried. The countless amount of works that are world renown rivals that of some national museums. It was kind of crowded when I went a year and pictures were a little hard to take. Other than that, it was a pleasant experience.

Massive amazing museum! You cant finish it in one afternoon. Definitely recommend their special exhibitions which you prob need ticket for. Most of it is free, and its beautiful to look at.

Go in the morning and spend the whole day, its marvelous. They even have a photographic art exhibit including one clicked by highschoolers.

Must visit if you are in Houston

Wow... Just wow. So much to see and so much intrigue. Best to pace yourself and set aside the day to try and cover the whole place. Eat a big breakfast or lunch, put on your walking shoes and prepare for a good treck because you'll truly be disappointed if you get tuckered out before you're even half way through. Super appreciative for all the places to sit, but not sure it's anything I'd ever take young kids to.

This was the first time I visited this Museum, specifically for the Van Gogh exhibit. It was a fairly seamless process parking, and purchasing admission tickets. The exhibition was laid out very nicely - there were quite a few people, but it did not feel overly crowded. I enjoyed the audio tour that came with the admission ticket. I feel that it added more depth than what was displayed on the walls. The only regret I have is not having more time to look at the other exhibits. I did wonder into a few other areas with abstract paintings and another with marble sculptures. The variety of exhibits that this Museum holds will surely keep me coming back for more!

I traveled to Houston MFA last May for the Van Gogh exhibition, which was very impressive. Like Houston itself, the museum is sprawling, and not easy to navigate. Some areas are very dated, and not lighted well. I know the MFA is in the process of building a new complex, which is wonderful

MFAH is one of the best in the country. Make sure you don't miss one of the buildings, as they are not obviously connected. There's a tunnel below main Street but it's a bit hidden. Special exhibits are always good, but the permanent collection is also fantastic. As of June 2017 they're constructing an additional building, so parking is a bit restricted.

I love this place. Membership is only $80 for two people. So basically, you go half with someone and you can go to the exhibitions for the first time for free . After that, it s discounted. The membership also includes going to the non-exhibition side for free any day. It s always clean and you can either wait to get tickets in a line, get your tickets online, or use the kiosks there to get tickets, which allows you to skip the line and avoid talking to people - if that s your style. Hardly anyone uses the kiosks...

it large, quite and you can spend the day wandering. i think the price is too high and they really should work on a city pass type thing where you can get membership to al lthe meuseums for a reasonable price

I was in Houston last October and I was so impressed with the Museum! The art was beautiful, the lay out made sense and the cafe/restaurant on the bottom floor was so delicious (although a bit expensive). I would definitely go again - and if you get a chance check out the sculpture garden across the street.
